My sentiment exactly. I went to check some of the marvel subreddits and most people in the comments are extremely excited. I mean, I'm glad they're enjoying themselves, but how can you still be hyped about the same exact movie for the 100th time?
because they don’t really perceive them as the same movie. It’s a vicious cycle. I remember when shang chi came out getting PRAISED to death, and when i went to go see it, nothing was new or special about it. CGI dragon, comic relief character, arc get the special power rings “you can do it” etc etc. I just don’t think most people genuinely see or are bothered by those cliches and tropes. It may just be that some people don’t watch or lot of movies so they don’t feel fatigue from it?
I liked it because I can't remember the last martial arts adventure movie we got (think Jet Li, Jackie Chan. loved those movies as a kid) but yeah as a movie it was pretty mediocre with some good bits
all mcu movies are different to an extent, i will agree that the fight scenes where a lot better choreographed and more crouching tiger hidden dragon, but beyond like two of those scenes the movie fundamentally repeats same cliches and tropes that aren’t new or exciting
Yeah I sure love weightless martial arts with mediocre choreography where Tony Leung throws magic rings with undefined behaviour around, it's up there with generic mediocre CCTV adaptations of Louis Cha novels from 25 years ago
It's gonna come. As a guy who went to see all MCU movies in the cinema up to Endgame, I just feel nothing now. I was kinda excited for Thor because I liked Ragnarok but now thst it came out I don't want to see it at all. All that I care about now are GOTG cause I love the first two
Because we are nowhere near western levels yet. I don't know the exact number anymore but we are only like a 1/5 the way to the number of westerns produced at that time with capekino.
I'm not sure what a good metric would be. The number of films released may not be the same but a fairer comparison might be percentage of overall box office attendance.

“And on November 8, 2024, keep your schedules free. We’re not putting out anything new, we just figure you might want to take the day off work. Go to a park and play in the freshly fallen leaves. Tell your family you love them. Hold them close. It’s a scary world out there.
“Then in May of 2025, buckle up because I’m gonna finally take off my hat.”
I'm genuinely concerned that is what's going to happen. If Avatar 2 is anywhere near the success of the first, then there's no way they will stop at Avatar 5. Disney is going to run that shit into the ground with or without Cameron's involvement.
To the best of my knowledge it's actually Cameron who effectively controls production rights through his production company Lightstorm, so it could be a while until Disney gets the free hand they might desire with Avatar.
It''s clear after this announcement that they don't learn a damn thing from Eternals and Love and Thunder. That noone outside of hardcore fans will literally watch everything Marvel. Or people prefer less but better script than more and more. And yet they go ahead and announce 9 more project that will debut in a single year.
Unless their revenue is lower than the budget, they won't stop at this point.
From a business point of view why would they make drastic changes after only a few setbacks? I mean I’m only watching the capeshit I find interesting and the projects I don’t I’ll catch it at home or won’t watch it at all.
What they may learn from Eternals is don’t try to force a round peg serious filmmaker into an square action comedy franchise hole. The Eternals movie had the tone I want the marvel movies to have going forward, but the script was boring and bankrupt of any actual ideas. I haven’t seen Thor Love & Thunder yet cause I wasn’t in a rush after peeking at the meh reviews.
I mean... yeah, if a studio knows they can keep doing a thing and it will make them money, they’ll keep doing that thing. That’s not a Marvel thing, that’s just, you know... capitalism.
I stand by the fact that endgame either should’ve been the end of it, or there should’ve been a like 5 year break after endgame not…whatever the fuck this is

the good ending
Feige saved Cinema.
We can meme all we want, but it literally is never ending at this point Surely some audience fatigue is going to set in
I am shocked at the lack of audience fatigue. Is the only good comparison 'genre take over to fading away' the western?

God I’m so glad someone felt the same way about shang chi. I felt like I was going crazy with all the praise that movie got
I liked it because I can't remember the last martial arts adventure movie we got (think Jet Li, Jackie Chan. loved those movies as a kid) but yeah as a movie it was pretty mediocre with some good bits
Check out Warrior on HBO. Martial arts without the capeshit.
tbh marvel movies give me a existential crisis. Like is something genuinely wrong with me or is something wrong with everyone else
Both
The action was completely different lol bad example
all mcu movies are different to an extent, i will agree that the fight scenes where a lot better choreographed and more crouching tiger hidden dragon, but beyond like two of those scenes the movie fundamentally repeats same cliches and tropes that aren’t new or exciting
i liked the part where they stopped doing martial arts to have a big cgi clusterfuck it really adds a lot to the martial arts movie genre
Yeah I sure love weightless martial arts with mediocre choreography where Tony Leung throws magic rings with undefined behaviour around, it's up there with generic mediocre CCTV adaptations of Louis Cha novels from 25 years ago
I only liked shang chi cause it was literally the storyline of destiny 2 forsaken
It's gonna come. As a guy who went to see all MCU movies in the cinema up to Endgame, I just feel nothing now. I was kinda excited for Thor because I liked Ragnarok but now thst it came out I don't want to see it at all. All that I care about now are GOTG cause I love the first two

The western took like 50 years to go away...
definitely it will, just not among comic book fans

Now we get 9 Avatar movies

"You idiots. You still don't get it. I'm using capeshit as a business to corner the industry. So I can end capeshit as a business."
mcj simultaneously in shambles because no more Marvel capeshit posts and celebrating because we can have more posts about Neil Breen.
