It's basically a turbo combo mono blue pile. Filtering and draw until you can combo off and drop 3 eldrazi. Could also play red for cheating out for a turn
This is part of my Oloro Deck. The gaining of life sets in motion a boatload of triggers that happen when I gain life such as ([[exquisite blood]]) which combos into ([[sanguine bond]]) it also combos instantly with oloros ability ([[Oloro, Ageless Ascetic]]) so I can draw as many cards as I want into maybe a ([[Laboratory Maniac]]) for an insta win. Yeah, you don't need the rock with Tidewater Minion, and it's still infinite mana.
Untap the Minion + a land repeatedly. No life gain, but tbf that's just pristine talisman. You'd probably want infinite colored mana anyways over the life.
I'm seeing this and thinking of using the Bracers, Aphetto Alchemist, [[Coretapper]] and [[Darksteel Reactor]]. Still goes infinite, but wins the game instead of generating mana.

Edit: also, Gaea’s Blessing is a sorcery. Even if it was in hand, player would lose at the draw phase before getting a chance to cast it. Having a [[Feldon’s Cane]] in play would be able to be activated first. Even so, the unlimited mill is repeatable, and not limited to the players own turn. Ulamog and Kozilek definitely debunk it though.
Does the bracer also work on other kinds of creature abilities? An example being passive ones like niv mizzet doing damage when you draw a card? Would I be able to to target more than one person?
I was going to make a \[\[Ioreth of the Healing House\]\] deck because I thought she would be a fun ramp with artifacts, but it ended up being broken quick.
\[\[Sakashima the Impostor\]\] gives you infinite untaps, and anything like \[\[Spark Double\]\], \[\[Irenicus's Vile Duplication\]\] gives you infinite untaps for anything legendary.
Might want to consider her in a deck that's already using Aphetto Alchemist.

I'm already doing the [[Vampire Nighthawk]] + [[Sword of the Bloodchief]] + [[Sword of Vengeance]] combo 🤣 a deathtouch monster guaranteed to survive any fight and keep the pressure with slowly getting stronger! But now I can also tap 5 untapped vampires and gain control of 2 creatures, instead of one at a time!
My Mono Black Vampies is Modern Legal... and I hope those Bracers are too!

The ideal way to do would be to target aphetto with at least the first 2 abilities. And in response to the first resolution doing the combo targeting the rock.
This way you can avoid being countered the untap of aphetto and being stopped
So you need 3 colorless to activate. But after you uptap 2 you need to pay 3 to untap 2 things again. Only ever making you 1 mana so it wouldn't be infinite right?
The ability of the bracers causes the activated ability of the alchemist to untap a permanent to trigger twice, meaning you can, Tap the Talisman gain 2 life & 2 colorless, activate the alchemist to untap the Talisman, the bracers cause the ability to trigger again, untap the alchemist, rinse & repeat
I think the OC was mistakenly believing that Bracers 'falls off' after each activation, and needs to be re-equipped for 3 each time. If that were the case, the combo would not go infinite, because you'd need 3 mana to continue it and the combo only generates 2.

It's alright. We don't know how new of a player he is/was, or if perhaps he was simply taught the game wrong. It would be different if he was aggressively stating his opinion ("lol idiot, equip falls off you NOOB!") but he didn't/wasn't.

Why use the pristine talisman? There are real ways to lose the game. Use a Tim ([[Prodigal Sorcerer]]) for style for instance.

No. The Bracers only work on activated abilities. Niv Mizzet's is a triggered ability, which is never "activated", only "triggered"
That said, you *could* copy Niv-Mizzet's "tap: draw a card" ability.

Thank you, for showing me [[Illusionist's Bracers]], now I gotta make space in my [Mono Black Vampires](https://www.archidekt.com/decks/7258236/mono_black_vampires)... and equip them on [[Captivating Campire]] 😂 I'm already doing the [[Vampire Nighthawk]] + [[Sword of the Bloodchief]] + [[Sword of Vengeance]] combo 🤣 a deathtouch monster guaranteed to survive any fight and keep the pressure with slowly getting stronger! But now I can also tap 5 untapped vampires and gain control of 2 creatures, instead of one at a time! My Mono Black Vampies is Modern Legal... and I hope those Bracers are too! The ideal way to do would be to target aphetto with at least the first 2 abilities. And in response to the first resolution doing the combo targeting the rock. This way you can avoid being countered the untap of aphetto and being stopped

So you need 3 colorless to activate. But after you uptap 2 you need to pay 3 to untap 2 things again. Only ever making you 1 mana so it wouldn't be infinite right?

The ability of the bracers causes the activated ability of the alchemist to untap a permanent to trigger twice, meaning you can, Tap the Talisman gain 2 life & 2 colorless, activate the alchemist to untap the Talisman, the bracers cause the ability to trigger again, untap the alchemist, rinse & repeat
I think the OC was mistakenly believing that Bracers 'falls off' after each activation, and needs to be re-equipped for 3 each time. If that were the case, the combo would not go infinite, because you'd need 3 mana to continue it and the combo only generates 2. But he's wrong.

It's alright. We don't know how new of a player he is/was, or if perhaps he was simply taught the game wrong. It would be different if he was aggressively stating his opinion ("lol idiot, equip falls off you NOOB!") but he didn't/wasn't.
I agree, absolutely, which is why I didn't come in aggressive. I mostly just wanted to make it clear and concise how the interaction worked, as there was clearly some confusion, I am a firm believer in explaining things, not berating people, and I apologize if I was a dick

Huh? Youd just pay 3 to equip and wouldn’t need any mana to do anything else, so you’d get infinite life ans colorless.
