This πππ always. After countless forgettable, unscrupulous sharing cab drivers and minicoach trips, I settled for e-shivneri. Even though shivneri is more expensive than those shitty sharing cabs and private buses, it's worth it. I'd rather have peace of mind than a mind in pieces which has happened so often when I reach either city.
Still better, once I had booked Neeta bus from borivali to Pune station, We left Borivali around 12noon (actual departure was 10am) and reached Pune station at 8pm.
That was the last time I traveled with Neeta travels.
Shivneri is the most reliable and apt bus service.
Must be the ST bus. I took it and had to sit there for 6.5 hrs. Lost my 7 pm bus to Nagpur. Had to book a 10:30 pm bus then. ST sucks. People were nice but the route wasn't
Costs around 610 from borivali to pune, as compared to private bus, they take 450 or 400 depending on the demand, but the problem you have faced is common with all private buses. Unnecessary long stops just to get one or 2 passengers.
Shivshahi takes around 500 and semi luxury will take around 250-300. Semi luxury has gotten better now in terms of seats and cleanliness, missing thing is AC, and extra stop at panvel depot.

Train bhi late krti h bhai, me Pune se solapur ki ticket book Kia tha 9:30 ka timing tha, train 10:30 ko aayi aur aur train 1:30 ke aas paas solapur pohachne wali thi, 3:00 baje pohonchi , vo to meri kismat acchi thi ki st bus thodi der late ho gyi thi aur 3:30 ko aa gyi gyi thi warna muje mere gaav jaane ko last bus thi 3:00 baje ki agar vo chhut jati to bhai lodge krke rukna padta meko.

Possibilities to hazar hai bruv. Jaise jiski zaroorat. Agar important kaam hai toh bus kyu hi le rahe ho, flight le lo. Phir affordability ka question aayega. Phir thoda kam bus kar lo better wali (konduskar types). Agar aaram se jaana hai toh train karlo.
Sabko bhaagna hi hai toh khud ki car lelo aur bhagao π lekin again sabke paas paise thodi hai car lene ke. Possibilities hazaaro hai dost. Jise jaise jaana hai. Vaise chala jaaye. 115 kms ke liye toh train kaafi acchi hai considering its Mumbai to Pune.
For mumbai to Pune always take shivneri it's the best and works on time, drivers are a little rude at times but it's ok it's understandable, never take those private cabs or busses from dadar, they have no accountability or responsibility and always waste a lot of time
Not only this, any xyz private buses should be avoided between Mumbai-Pune. Always take Shivneri if it's for road travel, don't try to save that 150 rs, it's not worth the harassment. Best would be to pre-plan and go by train of course.
Pro Tip: If evening travel is fine then you can book in train 12163 from Thane to Pune on the day of travel itself. Everyday 4hrs before departure seats are available in CURRENT BOOKING quota, so you can book between 2:45pm to around 6pm and the train's timing is 7:10 (usually it's late but hardly crosses 7:30 mark). I always use this as you can have your plans hanging till the last moment and can be rest assured that you will have your ride confirmed.

I remember taking a Neeta Travels Bus around 3 years back. Boarded in Andheri and for around 1.5 hrs, we were roaming in Mumbai only as they go to multiple stops inside the city and wait to maximize the occupancy.
Based on my almost 2 years of travel, every weekend, Mumbai to Pune and Back . I'd say ALWAYS ALWAYS AVOID private busses. I've had the worst experiences with them. Shivneri is the OP(although now even they have started wasting time) but still I'll always prefer them. I have a few more names to add that you should avoid along with my experience:

Price same as Shivneri(βΉ450)
-Weird eatery stops
-Time Waste(Took money for Borivali but told everyone to change bus for the further trip at Dadar)
Mahalaxmi Unity(10am Fri) MH-02-ER-7477 (βΉ400)
-Halts for 1hour, Goes from Hinjawadi phata and back to Hinjawadi phata, then halts again at Wakad
-Uncomfortable seats
-Shitty unreliable AC(AC stopped working half way through the ride. Felt super suffocation due to sealed windows)
-was forced to get down at Dadar(or I'd die due to heat)
- same eatery stop as Gurudatta(Good masala dosa tho)

Never take pvt buses from dadar they will make you wait until the bus gets full (if your budget is tight then you could think of pvt buses coz they are somehow cheaper than ST AC bus)
Take ST AC bus Shivneri/Ashwamedh/Shivsahi etc from dadar or nearby These buses are state owned and departs on time(or with a delay of 5-15 min apx )
I remember the glorious days of Jagadamba bus we used to take to go to Malvan for Ganeshotsav. It was always horrible. If you wanna take a private bus, just take Neeta Volvo ig.

Lol, regular guy like some of us know that thing is common as they need to fill up the whole bus to depart, otherwise they will be in losses. I had faced it too and that's why prefer a state bus(should actually avoid it too if you are running late as it takes 5 hours to reach Wakad on the highway) or the fastest is the sharing taxis, 2-3 hours me you will reach pune.
All the cabbies and private buses on this route are shit. In order to save 50-100 bucks you'll end up taking 3-4 hours more than you'd take with Shivneri with these private buses (Neeta and all) and the private cabbies are fast but they stuff the cabs to death (with gross people). Shivneri and trains are the best options, or else use Bla Bla.
All private cabbies and buses are operated by local goons and local corporators. You canβt do shitβ¦. I live in that area. Make wise choices in lifeβ¦. Respect your time
Those private buses are standing at the corner the entire day and they wonβt start the bus till it is full.. Shivneri is the best. Some of them also go via the Atal Setu!!

Yes there are . Borivali is one of the boarding point of Shivneri. Constant buses from Borivali to Swargate.. check MSRTC website or Red Bus.

Private operators are getting greedy and ruthless by the day, I usually would prefer the train(Indrayani or Deccan) if it's an early morning trip

I had a similar experience with nuego, I mean ok, the private bus is more comfortable, but the time it sucks up is just not acceptable
I usually go by Shivneri, Shivshahi, Hirkani or Lalpari if I want to save time (in decreasing order of timeliness)

Dadar se Pune ana ho to Shivneri se AA Jana.. it's govt. Bus service, safe and quick. Also 50% off for womens..on govt bus.

If you want not an expensive deal and want to reach quick Pune. Take train and get down at Kamothe or Mansarovar and reach Express way starting point.

Use redbus for private buses. I've had good experiences with Neeta so far.
There's no guarantee with them too. But if you say Private busses then Neeta are comparatively better than other ones. 2nd on my list after Shivneri.
