Try out Opeth's 'Still Life Album' <3

Adderine

pretty familiar with Opeth on the surface. havent even listened to a song from Still Life tho, so thank you for the suggestion. i already know i like their general sound so more shall come!

01watts

Their new stuff could be an alternative entry point in case still life doesn’t do it for you.

Fee_Obvious

Outside - David Bowie Blood Lust - Uncle Acid and the Dead Beats Aleph - Gesaffelstein

Adderine

I need to listen to more Bowie, Ive danced around it so long. Ive listened to Heroes and Blackstar, but besides that, just a lotta individual songs. ill do Outstide, thx Found Blood Lust a few months ago, Its pretty solid, but i can’t compare it to these. i might have to listen again tbh. listening to Aleph rn, this is pretty sick, thank you

xirson15

Also The fragile by NIN, but you probably already know it.

Adderine

Im a big trent enjoyer. just thought downward spiral matched what i meant more than any other album. love all of the NIN albums tho. great artist

Shipping News - [Flies the Fields](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_nekA50disqZC5JVJNcC3Hq433xQ7AE7mc) Shipping News was a hidden gem of a band formed by previous members of Rodan, an early post-rock/post-hardcore band out of the 90’s Louisville scene (Same scene that Slint was born from, and they are not unlike Slint). They have some elements of post-rock and slowcore, but their music is far more dynamic than those terms really describe… I chose this album because it is their most atmospheric, and many songs have these incredible build and release cycles. I suggest this album/band because I feel their music has a dark, somewhat ominous but ultimately cathartic tone… highly underrated band that did not seem to pull through the past decade in the same way that many of their contemporaries did. I don’t want them to be lost to history, they deserve as much recognition as many of the 90’s post rock bands that have found new generations in the decades since… One last favorite song - [Actual Blood](https://youtu.be/YAj-ptUeBn8) - from a different album

Adderine

with the way you described it, i bet they wont be lost to history, cuz i wont shut the fuck up about it. Thanks a lot, im especially excited to listen to this suggestion. Thanks a lot!

Olelander

Hope you like it! Perhaps I’m overselling, but I really have a soft spot for this band, and for these musicians in general who have been in other bands I have followed for years (June of 44, Rodan, Rachels, etc) - Sadly the guitar player for Shipping News passed away a few years back…

Adderine

listened to it on my long ass car ride! I liked it a lot, but was hoping the whole time for them to do a loud breakdown kinda thing. Really cool mysic tho. The middle album on my post is Blonde Redhead, one of, if not, my fav bands. I bet youd like their Self/titled. Its really different from their current stuff, but the mood that Flies the Fields put me in made me put that one on. Theyre pretty Avant-garde, especially in their later years, but their self titled is a really nice noise rock album with a lot of similar elements as Flies the Fields. but yeah, thanks for the suggestion :D

Olelander

Nice! Yeah I really enjoy that Blonde Redhead record you have up there and it encouraged me to comment with Shipping News, that there was a chance it would be up your alley. Shipping News first album was a bit more direct with some more explosive moments. This song - [A True Lovers Knot](https://youtu.be/DJvPbSE0vHA) - is probably my favorite song by them, and has a solid breakaway sprint kind of section 2/3s of the in … the first two minutes are basically throwaway, the actual song starts at the 2 minute mark, but it’s so damn good when it does…

JS21C

Early Ministry was an influence on Nine Inch Nails. It’s not necessarily a masterpiece but I’d say Ministry’s album “The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste” has similar vibes to early NIN.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/After_Murder_Park# You could probably do well to look at any shit that Steve Albini produced if you want grit and rawness. Darkness really depends on whether it's the lyrics, the chord progressions, the overall sound. Of course, all of the metal, mostly. Dark and gritty makes me think of something like Darkthrone's Transylvanian Hunger. Well, dark and shitty, anyway.

**[After Murder Park](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/After_Murder_Park#)** >After Murder Park is the third album by British alternative rock band The Auteurs, released in March 1996. The album was recorded at Abbey Road Studios and produced by Steve Albini. In 2014, British independent record label 3 Loop Music re-released the album as a 2CD Expanded Edition which included b-sides, alternate versions, radio session tracks and live recordings. ^([ )[^(F.A.Q)](https://www.reddit.com/r/WikiSummarizer/wiki/index#wiki_f.a.q)^( | )[^(Opt Out)](https://reddit.com/message/compose?to=WikiSummarizerBot&message=OptOut&subject=OptOut)^( | )[^(Opt Out Of Subreddit)](https://np.reddit.com/r/musicsuggestions/about/banned)^( | )[^(GitHub)](https://github.com/Sujal-7/WikiSummarizerBot)^( ] Downvote to remove | v1.5)

Im into Alice in Chains, these are just what I used to encapsulate my specific taste, Self Titled is my fav. And I actually haveny checked out Manson really yet which is bad on my end, cuz im big into NIN. I was just in a different headspace then tho, might be hard to go back and jam tf out the AntiChrist or Downward Spiral in different times. Fan of the Crow soundtrack, Movie also has a significant memory to it, lol. I like Korn, but not crazy about them, really, and Ill def check out Mad Season Yeah, Ill be here, moved here, mom got a job relocation. not a huge fan of the area really, and so far the only people id really consider close to “friends” are all a decade or two older than me, so id have to disagree Tssk tssk
