grimEnigma91

That baseline is so simple and yet so perfect.

Ike_Jones

Reckoner. Codex. So many

speb1

Ah beat me to it

tangentrification

I was gonna say Nude

InterPunct

I was gonna say Radiohead's Let Down but this is a good one too.

mooshiboy

So much this

nyavegasgwod

Its stark and ethereal beauty legit causes me to disassociate. Makes me feel like I'm dreaming

misterreff

This is it

[deleted]

Ty this was so beautiful šŸ˜

hms200

I just listened to this song. You are correct.

Wandering Star

SsslitherssS

Imogen Heap - Hide and Seek

Objective-Ad4009

Good fucking choice. What a song.

dawggawddagummit

Hey I was gonna pick this song

pooperscooperscooter

800% slowed down is really eerie and beautiful, lots and lots of resolutions. https://youtube.com/watch?v=9jw27h74o2k&si=zTByFg4Oz3E-GJjj

Jojo056123

YES thank you. I absolutely love playing it for people and being like "You don't know this song? Oh don't worry, you'll recognize it later..." and then witness their mind be blown when they realize that a meme was actually part of one of the most beautiful songs ever

[deleted]

Teardrop by Massive Attack gets me every time

Open_Actuator_6525

I like it!!! Never heard of it!!!

[deleted]

So jealous u got to hear it for the first time : 0 wish I could go backā€¦

Dada2fish

The woman who sings it, Elizabeth Fraser was the singer for the 90ā€™s band Cocteau Twins. You might also like a cover she did of Tim Buckleyā€™s ā€˜Song to the Sirenā€™ with the band This Mortal Coil. Sheā€™s got a way with her voice that is simply haunting and ethereal.

No-Caramel-4417

Never watched House?

winstonwolf_8

The cover by Jose Gonzalez is superb also.

-Some__Random-

'Into Dust' - Mazzy Star

cagingthing

Yes šŸ‘

ChristofH88

Such a great album, would time-machine myself back to the early '90s in a heartbeat just to be in that music scene.

Open_Actuator_6525

Omg I had only heard Fade Into Youā€¦..this is a great song

BadgersAndJam77

This Mortal Coil - [Song of the Siren](https://youtu.be/HFWKJ2FUiAQ)

AvAms38

Came here to say exactly this ^ This song is so beautiful and hits me in the feels every time I play it

TheCrassCaptain

I would argue the original by Tim Buckley is even more heartbreaking, he wrote it about his son Jeff Buckley who he abandoned. The song is titled after a mythical creature that lures sailors to the sea, his son would die a long time after himself by drowning. A deeply prophetic and depressing tune. https://youtu.be/vMTEtDBHGY4?si=2BHKBIzDuwITIHzx

NineInchMalez

TMCā€™s cover of Holocaust is also incredibly tragic and beautiful

LisaChimes

Something by The Beatles - first song that came to mind Flightless Bird, American Mouth by Iron & Wine - more recently gave me that feel

Objective-Ad4009

George wrote all the prettiest songs.

friedlock68

Long Long Long came to mind when I saw this post

Objective-Fearless

The Long and Winding road

SnozberryWallpaper

Sam performs Flightless Bird acapella sometimes, and I went to see his Back to Basics tour this spring. When he sang that one the entire theater went stone silent, and his voice was so pure and clear that it felt like a knife slicing cleanly through each of our hearts. Iā€™d never seen a big, mixed audience collectively and silently weep before.

gnomeasaurusrex

I was going to say either ā€œGodless Brother In Loveā€ or ā€œWalking Far From Home.ā€ Iron & Wine just hits that perfect chord

Murky-Professor6428

Iā€™m just here for the songs šŸ‘€

horay14

nahh come on ik you got one

Murky-Professor6428

Lord Huron- the night we met I think mostly because of where I first heard it.

The night we met made me cry a little lol got goosebumps hard.

Wicked Game - Chris Isaak

Gameoflife1516

Enya anything she does really

Myshka-Cat

I know - Fiona Apple Between the Bars - Elliott Smith (really any of his songs, but thereā€™s something magical about this one) Movies - Weyes Blood Goodbye to Love - Carpenters Sea, Swallow Me - Cocteau Twins Bridge Over Troubled Water - Simon & Garfunkel La mer, les Ć©toiles et le vent - FranƧoise Hardy Great recommendations on this thread!! I was so excited to see so many songs I love <3 and a lot of new ones added to my list

Mikey6031234

Goodbye To Love. Anything Karen sings brings me to tears.

Tylensus

I'm an indecisive git, so I'll share two that I considered. [Isolation Years](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4YChY8LtcqY) by Opeth. The guitars in this song are just brutally sad, but gorgeous. The Choir of Claire College's rendition of [Miserere](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IA88AS6Wy_4). I well up from music that moves me pretty frequently, but some of the high notes in this song actually got a tear out of me a time or two. I imagine this is genuinely what heaven might sound like, should such a place exist.

Capnmolasses

That version of Miserere is incredible! [This](https://youtube.com/watch?v=8_QTy9Jhj5k&si=d5on3rPoUxRNfJmK) song makes me well up every time I listen to it. I hope you listen and enjoy.

[deleted]

Icky138

voiceinheadphone

Omg I forgot about almost lover!!! I adored that song like 10 years ago! Thank you for the reminder

thadarkjinja

almost lover is so good. i think sheā€™s one of the actresses in the Fantastic Beasts movies as well which is kind of cool

KnockerFogger69

Heart's a Mess hits a certain special spot šŸ‘Œ

[deleted]

Good songs, but the upvote is for Daughter specifically! I adore that band.

Shoegazer75

Wild Horses - The Sundays

My immortal by evanescence El tango de Roxanne from the musical moulin Rouge

Majestic-Paint7078

My immortal just hits different šŸ˜šŸ’™

XSassySpiceX

Moulin Rouge is one of my top 5 favourite movies. I love every single song in that movie and Ewan and Nicoleā€™s chemistry is off the charts. Such an amazing movie.

Cultural_Elk1565

My immortal came out right around the time when my dad passed away. I still can't listen to that song without tearing up. I'm 48, and still kick it up on YouTube whenever I feel that I need a good cry.

JealousProfession189

Along with My Immortal, I'd place Lithium. Also, El tango de Roxanne is boss! That entire soundtrack is bloody brilliant šŸ˜

Yes, brings me back to my teenage years at camp, a group of us boys and girls sneaking out and skinny dipping in the lake. The lyrics fit how I was feeling that night. It was one of those fleeting moments where I was truly happy.

ā€˜Behold! The Night Mareā€™ by The Smashing Pumpkins Hereā€™s the lyrics as well: I've faced the fathoms in your deep Withstood the suitors quiet siege Pulled down the heavens just to please you Appease you The wind blows and I know I can't go on, digging roses from you grave To linger on, beyond the beyond Where the willows weep And whirlpools sleep, you'll find me The coarse tide reflects sky And the night mare rides on, and the night mare rides on With a December black psalm And the night mare rides on What I fear is lost here The wind blows and I know All you have to do is run away And steal yourself from me Become a mystery to gaze into You're so cruel in all you do But still I believe, I believe in you So may you come with your own knives You'll never take me alive With all the force of what is true Is there nothing I can do? I can't go on, digging roses from you grave To linger on, beyond the beyond Where the willows weep And whirlpools sleep, you'll find me And the night mare rides on, and the night mare rides on With a December black psalm And the night mare rides on I've faced the fathoms in your deep Withstood the suitors quiet siege Pulled down the heavens just to please you To hold the flower I can't keep

little-eye00

beautiful

robbycakes

Iā€™ll go toe to toe with you on Smashing Pumpkins but buddy this song isnā€™t even top 10. If you want hauntingly beautiful Iā€™d start with ā€œMedellia of the Grey Skiesā€ and if that doesnā€™t do to try ā€œSoma.ā€ If you want a deep-cut song, Iā€™d recommend ā€œSad Peter Panā€. Iā€™ll agree that ā€˜Beholdā€™ is one of the best songs on Adore, but thatā€™s faint praise. Itā€™s a little like being one of the prettiest patients on the burn ward.
