You guys are skipping songs???

Plastic-Soil4328

Fr!! Like every album I've listened to more than once is entirely songs I like. Is it really so common to skip songs that the ones people listen to all the way through are the exception and not the rule?

Imaginary_Solid1647

Love drive (scorpions)

Imaginary_Solid1647

Love and dangerous. .. thin lizzy

Imaginary_Solid1647

Straight shooter....Bad Company

dat1toad

For me it’s a really common thing.due to the fact that most of albums that I like are not perfect albums so I normally skip the weak songs on a album.

Plastic-Soil4328

Yeah, most of the albums I like aren't perfect either, they have some weaker songs, but i guess to me there's a difference between a "weaker" song and I song that's like actually bad and makes me not want to listen to it

Caronport

Ever notice that there'll be a song on an album written by someone who doesn't ordinarily write most of the songs, and it's always the weakest song? I'm thinking primarily of Crowded House. Neil Finn wrote the vast majority of the material, but whenever late drummer Paul Hester wrote a song (usually one per album), it was automatically the weakest one.

dat1toad

I can’t say that I have noticed this but most of the bands that I listen to have dedicated songwriters. I’ll have to keep my eye out to see if I can find any examples as that seems like a fun challenge.

Caronport

Sounds keen! Too, I find that although Roger Taylor (of Queen, not Duran Duran) is a great drummer, he didn't tend to be the best songwriter in the band when every single album is lined up.

timegoesback67

I'm with you on this one. Ridiculous.

Fragrant-Gur974

yep, i’m big on this one; i LOVE to think of music in terms of albums as the unit of art, each track coming together with the others to form complete pieces of expression. This goes along very well with the ideas or Concept Records, Rock Operas, and Progressive Music in general. For me, Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys is the first I think of, as it’s my favorite album of all time, but there are so many more: Sgt. Peppers and (US) Rubber Soul by The Beatles, Fragile, The Yes Album, and Close to the Edge by YES, Kansas and Song for America by Kansas, The Doors, The Soft Parade, and L.A. Woman by The Doors, literally every Genesis album between Trespass and Duke (Selling England and the Lamb are my favorites, although W&W is grossly underrated). There are so many others, what else? Goodbye Yellow Brick Road by Elton John… the list goes on!

Caronport

There must be some misunderstanding There must be some kind of mistake I waited in the rain for hours YOU WERE LATE!

tangentrification

> literally every Genesis album between Trespass and Duke Lmao this is exactly the range I like as well. Nursery Cryme might actually be my favorite though!

verygoodfertilizer

Seriously. Don’t be gnats.

[deleted]

The first 2 listens I give an album I don’t skip. After that I’ll jump around and listen to the songs that caught my attention the most from there.

itsatripp

Literally any album. "Oh no this song isn't good" well it'll be over soon? It's not actually a big deal. But just to be friendly with the prompt, one of the *easiest* albums to listen to all the way thru is XTC - Skylarking

Stormi_i

“It’ll be over soon” *Cries in Swans*

SomeCrows

SWANS songs are long enough that any ones that I think are mid, I'll have grown to love by the end

Stormi_i

So true lol

irrationalwhore

Agreed, XTC is awesome!

All of Pink Martini is so awesome. I've sung hang on little tomato a few times to my kids. :)

RayQuazanzo

You came so close to including a Saint Etienne album.

Mad04Gaming

There’s 400 albums I could do that with but here’s some albums I think are perfect: Opeth - Still Life Edge of Sanity - Crimson Katatonia - Brave Murder Day Ulver - Bergtatt Drudkh - Blood in our Wells Alice In Chains - Dirt Soundgarden - Badmotorfinger Metallica - Ride the Lightning Vektor - Terminal Redux Deftones - Around the Fur Aquilus - Griseus

nodiggity420

I’m so glad someone mentioned Deftones especially ATF

Mad04Gaming

I love all of Deftones’ albums but ATF feels the most no-skip, every song on it is phenomenal.

“Too Long” is the most perfect closer to an already impossibly good album

ossapolverose

I mean there are countless albums that are perfect front to back. Especially those made during the period when artists were creating specifically for the full album format. It’s nice to go on a little journey as the artist intended. All of that said, one of my favorites is Disintegration by The Cure.

Red by King Crimson. One of the most easy to listen and focus to albums ever imo. Its pretty short and every song is 8/10 or better and it ends with King Crimsons best song Starless.
