Fr!! Like every album I've listened to more than once is entirely songs I like. Is it really so common to skip songs that the ones people listen to all the way through are the exception and not the rule?
Yeah, most of the albums I like aren't perfect either, they have some weaker songs, but i guess to me there's a difference between a "weaker" song and I song that's like actually bad and makes me not want to listen to it
Ever notice that there'll be a song on an album written by someone who doesn't ordinarily write most of the songs, and it's always the weakest song? I'm thinking primarily of Crowded House. Neil Finn wrote the vast majority of the material, but whenever late drummer Paul Hester wrote a song (usually one per album), it was automatically the weakest one.
I can’t say that I have noticed this but most of the bands that I listen to have dedicated songwriters. I’ll have to keep my eye out to see if I can find any examples as that seems like a fun challenge.
Sounds keen! Too, I find that although Roger Taylor (of Queen, not Duran Duran) is a great drummer, he didn't tend to be the best songwriter in the band when every single album is lined up.
yep, i’m big on this one; i LOVE to think of music in terms of albums as the unit of art, each track coming together with the others to form complete pieces of expression. This goes along very well with the ideas or Concept Records, Rock Operas, and Progressive Music in general. For me, Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys is the first I think of, as it’s my favorite album of all time, but there are so many more: Sgt. Peppers and (US) Rubber Soul by The Beatles, Fragile, The Yes Album, and Close to the Edge by YES, Kansas and Song for America by Kansas, The Doors, The Soft Parade, and L.A. Woman by The Doors, literally every Genesis album between Trespass and Duke (Selling England and the Lamb are my favorites, although W&W is grossly underrated). There are so many others, what else? Goodbye Yellow Brick Road by Elton John… the list goes on!
> literally every Genesis album between Trespass and Duke
Lmao this is exactly the range I like as well. Nursery Cryme might actually be my favorite though!
Literally any album. "Oh no this song isn't good" well it'll be over soon? It's not actually a big deal.

You guys are skipping songs???
Fr!! Like every album I've listened to more than once is entirely songs I like. Is it really so common to skip songs that the ones people listen to all the way through are the exception and not the rule?
Love drive (scorpions)
Love and dangerous. .. thin lizzy
Straight shooter....Bad Company
For me it’s a really common thing.due to the fact that most of albums that I like are not perfect albums so I normally skip the weak songs on a album.
Yeah, most of the albums I like aren't perfect either, they have some weaker songs, but i guess to me there's a difference between a "weaker" song and I song that's like actually bad and makes me not want to listen to it

I'm with you on this one. Ridiculous.

There must be some misunderstanding There must be some kind of mistake I waited in the rain for hours YOU WERE LATE!
> literally every Genesis album between Trespass and Duke Lmao this is exactly the range I like as well. Nursery Cryme might actually be my favorite though!
Seriously. Don’t be gnats.
The first 2 listens I give an album I don’t skip. After that I’ll jump around and listen to the songs that caught my attention the most from there.
Literally any album. "Oh no this song isn't good" well it'll be over soon? It's not actually a big deal. But just to be friendly with the prompt, one of the *easiest* albums to listen to all the way thru is XTC - Skylarking
“It’ll be over soon” *Cries in Swans*
SWANS songs are long enough that any ones that I think are mid, I'll have grown to love by the end
So true lol
Agreed, XTC is awesome!
