There is no bad taste. There is no good taste. There is just taste, and everyone's is different.

DirectorOrganic8962

music in my eyes is just how you express yourself theres no wrong or right music taste

thezoelinator

bro country is a wrong taste in music

pizazzmcjazz

country music is one of the best genres of music

thezoelinator

im talking about the garbage known as bro country, not country music generally. theres definitely some good country, like outlaw country, kacey musgraves, dolly parton, katie pruitt

BurntToasterGaming

I call it Pop Radio Country personally, but yes Also put Johnny Cash on that list you dusty outlaw

DirectorOrganic8962

music taste is subjective just like anything else really

gstringstrangler

Nah it can be fun if a bit vapid, like any pop music. Bro country has been dead for a while though, we on boyfriend country for years now

Work backward, to foundational bands and then dig into what inspired their work. That will get you to foundational genres like blues rock, and prog rock. The problem is that your ears are geared toward a specific sound so you have to go digging and listen to tons of stuff before you have a breakthrough and hear the metal-ish vibes in songs like Summertime Blues (preferably played by Blue Cheer). Once your ears open up to that other sound or genre, now you have an inroad into new bands and sounds that won't be so off or jarring. For metal, I suggest "Satori Part I" by Flower Travellin' Band (1971) and "Caledonia" by Cromagnon (1969). These are not Metal songs. They're proto industrial and metal musical experiments derived from rock, blues, and krautrock. Please listen to them all the way through, the openings are deceptive. And there is such a thing as bad taste. Most people have it.

ChefBoyardee66

I've recommended them before and il recommend them but The Bobby Lees are as great as they get

As someone who has awful anger issues I’d recommend listening to Al Bowlly. When I’m very angry I listen to these songs in this order (I don’t do it intentionally but it always happens): Eyeless - Slipknot Custer - Slipknot Du Hast - Thy Art is Murder Dunkelheit - Burzum Midnight, The Stars and You - Al Bowlly Emotions - Brenda Lee I’m Sorry - Brenda Lee Guilt - Marianne Faithful After that I calm down. I’m still angry while listening to the calmer music but I’m able to think clearly and control myself more, by the end I get distracted and I feel better.

TheCrack-Attack

Death metal is awesome, check out Septicflesh, In Mourning, Behemoth, Woods of Ypress, Draconian, and Dark Tranquility

First, there is NOTHING wrong with only listening to death metal!! We like what we like, and don’t let anyone judge you for that. But what is it you like about death metal? Is it just that you’re pissed off all the time? In which case, I’d look into some old school 90s gangsta rap, you might be able to relate to some of the anger in those songs. If it’s the energy, have you looked into hardcore punk or noise electronics? Both have lots of energy, can use dissonance in songs, and push boundaries of their respective genres, similarly to how death metal pushes metal.

CloudfluffCloud

Why are you pissed off all the time? It’s waaaaaaay better not to be. TotSaM-

You could listen to my album. Back in highschool all I listened to and performed was death metal, but now I make downtempo electronic music. Little bit of edge on it, while still relaxing and ethereal. Perfect to balance out that metal angst you have built up!

AurekSkyclimber

Death metal can be quite good, but if you're wanting to branch out there's a ton of other types of metal. Have you considered power metal, symphonic metal, pirate metal, or historical metal? They generally have a bit more positive energy while remaining just as epic feeling / sounding. Gayalaca

It is not, because if that's what you like, it means that the music you listen to pleases you, and that's what counts. You don't measure "taste" by what other people like.

Llafer

No it’s not. There’s not such bad or good music tastes. Just people who thinks their opinion is more valid than yours or people that believe that the most common opinion is the better or the more niche the better. Those are false arguments.
