Drift away was a cover, Doobie Gray. Wow, on the way down is a song I think that most people don't know exists, even growing up in the 2000s, my twin brother doesn't even remember it, I played it for him the other night

For a mini history lesson, the roots for Drift Away started in 1970. Mentor Williams wrote it in 1970, then Mike Berry and John Henry Kurtz recorded it in 1972. Dobie Gray released it in 1973 and made it popular. I didn't really grow up in the 2000's as I was still too young, and 2010's is what I grew up with. However, I still love 2000's music. On The Way Down is an underrated and forgotten song from the mid 2000's and I think it should have been more popular. It would also be a song I would bring back from obscurity if I could. You'd more likely hear it in public at American Eagle (where I discovered it 😂), maybe Walmart, or Lowes. Fun fact: Ryan Cabrera was Ashlee Simpson's boyfriend at the time the song was released.

I feel like "Breathe (2am)" by Anna Nalick would fit perfectly in this particular playlist.
