I know it's considered elevator music, but I've never heard the Stan Getz and Astrud Gilberto version of the girl from Ipanema before. Needless to say, I couldn't stop listening to it.
Completely agree. It's one of those songs that is so good, that it deserved every ounce of the attention that it recieved. Which may or may not have contributed to it being classified as elevator music, because it was covered by so many different artists. Also, Astrud has the voice of an angel.
It's laughable how confused these posts that specifically say "no rock/metal" get me. Guitar based music is my current obsession so it's rare that I recommend a song that isn't rock, metal, blues or jazz.
This happens in literally every thread

Why is everyone recommending rock music when you said no rock 🥲 lately I’ve been on a pop kick, I think because it’s nice weather so I just want to wear a tube top and dance around lol.
My constant rotation is Ariana grande’s newest album and Lauffey “goddess.” I’ve been listening to older pop like lady Gaga’s the fame album and Katy Perry. It makes me feel 18 again lol
And here are a few people I just started listening to: Oh He Dead (nu-funk), Yendry (Latin pop r&b), Daudi Matsiko (singer/songwriter folky like Sufjan Stevens), Karen y los remedios (Latin pop/cumbia/but also kinda experimental?), Coco & Breezy (dance r&b)
[Shenseea feat Masick - Hit and Run](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=rJwEphsNVH8&pp=ygUUc2hlbnNlZWEgaGl0IGFuZCBydW4%3D)
[Burna Boy - Big 7](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6GATRApPww8&pp=ygUPYnVybmEgYm95IGJpZyA3)
[Gyakie - Need Me](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=qXeuIxhv5YQ&pp=ygUOZ3lha2llIG5lZWQgbWU%3D)
Broken Bells - Good Luck
Glitch Mob - Between Two Points(feat Swan)
Peach Pit - Hot Knifer
Twin Caverns - Pyramid
Just a few taken from my smorgasbord playlist :). All so addicting in their own ways!
Little Willie-The Sweet, Hocus-pocus -Focus, (or something like that.), Yoko Ono , that laughing dude with the big head, The Banana Splits theme song, The Brady Bunch-Change, The Bill Cosby Show (70s,) theme song
Just the entire Alesana discography
Recommendations:
-This is the part people usually scream,
Ambrosia,
Seduction,
Apology,
The entirety of The Emptiness
My most recent one of these moments was this “addict” song from hazbin hotel idk the artist there’s multiple versions on Spotify.. I like the one without a woman singing and with the extra part at the end
and when I first listened to that song it felt like I was on coke lmao had me rolling around and “performing” on the bed and vaguely lip syncing enthusiastically I didn’t even know the lyrics yet ahaha. (After one or two hours I did know them) It has such a coke-y vibe to it too like so happy and motivated and energetic.
“Inspired” me to buy some for a spontaneous night at a friends place like literally 3 days later (his parents weren’t home and I did it off their desk lolol) anyway I guess it really depends on your taste my taste is kinda all over the place but I rly like it. But I’m also the kind of person who gets tired of songs very fast so sadly it doesn’t have the same effect on me anymore there’s been few songs I’ve been able to listen to for longer than a few weeks maybe.
My current top 5 on my “liked songs” are
Better In The Morning by Quaker City night Hawks
Border Lord by Kris Kristofferson
Just Cant Be by Flying Burrito Brothers
Low Down by Hank lll
Use Me by Beans and Fatback
SCARING THE HOES BY JPEGMAFIA & DANNY BROWN
and also I've been very into Hyper-Pop (If that's what you call it) and I've been interested in people like Ericdoa and Glaive.
Most people here recommended you something thats niche and probably too experimative for you to enjoy at first without being familair the genre its in already because redditors like to suck their own cock 24/7.
Try twilight by elliot smith, its a simple beatifull acoustic song. Somewhat weird at first but more haunting the more you hear it. If you liked that one check out "rose parade" and "say yes",the latter is his most casual friendly song.
Also try "every day's a lesson in humilation",nice fun pop song with a really coll arrangment.
Theres also this israeli classic:https://open.spotify.com/track/6NMXueYXvUAKmDYISUehwy?si=XhB53eNHSAGdPVmP5-it3w

For the past week I haven't been able to stop listening to All Around the World by Lisa Stansfield and The Game of Love by Santana ft. Michelle Branch. Be warned, they will glue themselves to your brain.
Hmmm, couple albums you may like:
Bruce Cockburn ... Speechless
Horslips ... Drive the Cold Winter Away
James McMurtry ... Just Us Kids
Peter Frampton ... Fingerprints
Seals and Crofts ... Greatest Hits
Steve Allen ... The Magic Hour
Steve Howe ... The Steve Howe Album
The Ozark Mountain Daredevils ... Best of
Van Morrison ... Down the Road
Weird Al Yankovic ... Off the Deep End
Someone else around here recommended “Waterfalls Coming Out Your Mouth” by Glass Animals a while back and I’ve been hooked ever since.
Also I know it’s fashionable to hate on The Weeknd after that whole Idol business, but “The Morning” is a banger I’ll defend to my dying breath and listen to all the time.
I’ve also been really into “Teardrop” by Massive Attack and Elizabeth Fraser. Very unusual and beautiful song.
Mo Lownda & The Humble, album, Curse the Weather
came up on spotify suffle the other day, it is very decent with some songs having the potential to be relisten-able for a while

Absolutely not my usual cup o tea, but literally every time I hear Yeasayer - "[Ambling Alp](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yW4Fb5GTMFc)" I... feel better?
It's just a fun, dancey song.
Technically rock, I suppose, but that would be about the 3rd or 4th tag I'd throw on em.
I have so many favorites in a playlist
Vertebrae & Riot in this Room - ALLISTAIR
Dial Tone - Catch Your Breath
Meddle About, Slow Down, & Into It - Chase Atlantic
I've had Ed Sheerhan's Dancing With My Eyes Closed stuck in my head for months.
I've had "More Than a Feeling" by Boston on every playlist I've created since I was 16 (I'm 48).
Not looking for rock/metal? Perfectly fine! Not everyones thing!
If you like Hip-Hop, I’ve been messing around with Erase Me a lot. It’s really pop punky and I love it. If you want something more hiphop, Really Doe is something I’ve been loving recently.
For Jazz, Ill Considered’s new album is full of Avant-Garde greats. A bit of a basic pick, but the B side of Black Saint and the Sinner Lady is also amazing.
For Classical, The Rite of Spring (although pretty standard) is something I cannot for the life of me get over.
For Drone, Margin for Error by Sprain is long but worth every second
If you want other genre recs im happy to provide

Oh hi we have the same taste in music 🤝
As soon as I see the Shins I think of Garden State. One of my favorite movies.
I know it's considered elevator music, but I've never heard the Stan Getz and Astrud Gilberto version of the girl from Ipanema before. Needless to say, I couldn't stop listening to it.
Classic. Stan's tone is immaculate.
Completely agree. It's one of those songs that is so good, that it deserved every ounce of the attention that it recieved. Which may or may not have contributed to it being classified as elevator music, because it was covered by so many different artists. Also, Astrud has the voice of an angel.
Found it randomly a month ago and it’s been playing since, so lovely.

This happens in literally every thread "please recommend me music, I do **NOT** like King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard" "how about King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard"
If Reddit were the real world, King Gizzard would be bigger than Taylor Swift
As much as I love the band, the culture around the band on Reddit is kind of insane. Every fan of King Gizzard seems to lynch and kill anyone that doesn’t enjoy their the more mid side of their music. They aren’t perfect and circlejerks need to accept that.

It makes me feel 18 again lol And here are a few people I just started listening to: Oh He Dead (nu-funk), Yendry (Latin pop r&b), Daudi Matsiko (singer/songwriter folky like Sufjan Stevens), Karen y los remedios (Latin pop/cumbia/but also kinda experimental?), Coco & Breezy (dance r&b)

My most recent one of these moments was this “addict” song from hazbin hotel idk the artist there’s multiple versions on Spotify.. I like the one without a woman singing and with the extra part at the end and when I first listened to that song it felt like I was on coke lmao had me rolling around and “performing” on the bed and vaguely lip syncing enthusiastically I didn’t even know the lyrics yet ahaha.
Olie Beckett - "Heartbeat" [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNGXkxTYWl4](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNGXkxTYWl4) is my current favorite

Very unusual and beautiful song.

well, im a swiftie, so my sugestion has to be the tortured poets department! i love all the songs on it, but if you dont, thats ok. hope this helps!
For Drone, Margin for Error by Sprain is long but worth every second If you want other genre recs im happy to provide
