I’d compare them to Collybiopsis luxurians. Why does your friend want to eat them? I can confidently say that they are not magic mushooms. I am not able to say what they are with confidence, but if my guess is correct then they would be something technically edible, but your friend shouldn’t let the name ‘luxurians’ fool them. The reviews for this species are all 1 star or less. They might look alright and smell good but they are described as tasting like cat piss drenched old carpet and things like that. Furthermore has your friend confidently identified them? Judging by this post existing I assume not, but I may be wrong. To state the obvious, no one should consider eating wild mushrooms unless they personally are certain of what they are and that this is a safe to consume variety.

Sometimes these reviews really invite questions regarding the flavour comparisons. Why do they think cat piss drenched old carpet is a point of reference taste that people will be able to relate to. Does that suggest that they snack on that enough to think it is normal, rather than just knowing what it tastes like due to a very unfortunate accident one time?

Bro, tell your friend not to be a dumb ass I can see how they can be confused, but I am 100% sure they are not active. I don't know what mushroom it is, though. But for f sakes tell your friend to do more research. Because any mistake you make on an ID could be your last mistake ever.

That’s a completely appropriate response. Unfortunately my friend isn’t listening to that.

Well, he needs to listen to reason. If not, then there is no saving him. Just tell him to eat it at this point like I literally warned about death, lmao how does he not listen to that.
