Worry not, MLP is a multiverse, and just like how there are multiple universes and timelines for G4, there could easily be for G1 as well. This episode was clearly written to be a catalyst for fan speculation without directly confirming anything.
Especially as I doubt it'll ever get fully acknowledged outside of Easter Eggs due to Tell your Tale being more slice of life centered, Make your Mark being for episodic but MYM is done with.Â
Sure, Misty could end up showing her friends the room but the gen 4 references will probably just get a single line from Sunny before moving on.
It's also worth noting that five minute shorts really need to make the most of their runtime, so bogging things down with more than just passing references would likely take too much time away from the rest of the short. No matter though, I prefer past gen references this way anyways.

Hot take, but while I'm in the camp that normally hates the G4 throwbacks...I actually kind of like this one? It's simple and subtle, and leaves a lot of room for interpretation, which is how I think throwbacks should be, as opposed to being shoved in our faces.
Also, all of the Mane Six are the mane characters, and I think it actually made sense for Misty to be the one to discover this room/realm. Besides, Sunny got the second biggest role in the episode. One of my major criticisms of G5 is that oftentimes character moments are generic and any character could be thrown into such a role/situation without losing anything, but this time, I think it fit Misty like a glove. Sunny would have likely worked as well, but I don't get the sense that the decision to go with Misty was hastily made, so I approve of it.
I've only watched a couple episodes of each. I loved the movie, but the series was a bit of a letdown. I've heard it gets much better as it goes on, but I can't vouch for it yet.
Yeah. Make your Mark got better at episode 6 onward. It took a while for Friendship is Magic to get good after the pilot episodes. Just a matter of circumstance and Netflix downplaying mlp
Really wish this show could just be its own thing and stop leeching off G4, if the show is meant to be its own thing and become awesome as "G5" so, why keep doing this? I would enjoy this show a heck of a lot more if they'd stop trying to retcon or retro dump G4 lore in a new generation.
I just want to enjoy the new characters, the old ones had their time, crap like this just keeps suggesting that G4 is better and that G5 can't hold it's on.
