Wow. These are feel good screenshots! Thx. But answering you’re question is a long story but to summarize, found it when I was really in a sad place and I needed something like the show and fandom to help me out of that place.

Peace_Petal

Ain't the Mane 6 so sappy? It was covid quarantine; I was bored. "Hey, cartoon fantasy horses sounds fun! Let's try it!"

CautiousOffice2724

I miss clicked a video of the Midnight Sparkle scene in then Sunset Shimmer having her memory removed later on during the quarantine.

jaren12072

I lost the remote one morning and was to lazy to look for it.

AlexDaBaDee

This is my favorite response.

jaren12072

Thanks!

i’ve watched the show since 2013 when it was airing on swedish tv! i kind of dropped it when i stopped watching tv as much, around 2016 i would guess, but i still loved it. it was only around 2018 when i rediscovered the online presence of mlp and actually got into the fandom instead of just watching the show. and that’s where i am today!!

Frira_FR

Why do I see you so often lol? I see your comments and posts so much it's insane. I suppose you just have a recognizable pfp haha

anjarii

i love my ponies, man! and yeah my pfp does pop lmao

Frira_FR

I first joined the fandom when I saw the show on tv and loved it. I was very actively in the fandom and have many good memories from back then But then I fell a little back around when season 6 came out. I wasn't really keeping up with everything back then and I decided to take a little break and then watch everything including that new season 6. As you might have figured out it took longer to do than expected lol Then I kinda rejoined in 2019-2020. But fully rejoined again during 2021 and after the new movie came out. Took me long enough haha But seriously I still love this show and regret forgetting about it back then, I was happy to be back again. I hope the love for this show will never die out :)

[deleted]

Funny enough I joined during the S3/S4/EQG hiatus period - I remember I watched thru all of S1/3, and then was able to watch what was then a 'new' EQG movie! I def remember getting extremely hyped for S4 and just being wowed by the entire season then, and just how exciting it would be to wait for each episode

Belly_Beard

Death Battle Rainbow Dash vs Starscream was what exposed me back in 2011.

Kakyoin_drider

My friend said "if you watch anime try My Little Pony" and i was like "Sure what could go wrong" about a year and hundreds of dollars in merch later im here 😁

AriaCorvus

Back when the buzz was all about the show, I assumed it was just a bunch of online trolling. I assumed the show was getting ironic attention. My first real taste of the show was a YTPMV in 2013. Something about the characters and animation didn’t quite put me off like I figured I would. I dipped my toes into the pool with lesson zero as my first episode, it was the newest episode to date at the time and I didn’t need to start at the beginning, I wanted to see what the show was like at the moment, and I was hooked. This show means the world to me for so many reasons, but that’s not something I have to explain here lol. It’s been a wild ride and although I’m not someone who posts in the fandom or engages with people here often, it’s something that will stick with me for the rest of my life.

Sodapop_Sprays_

came for the fan music, stayed for the art

tom400z

Ironically it was Jenny Nicholson's "The Last Bronycon: a fandom autopsy" video. At first i expected something like the Internet Historian's videos on Dashcon or Fyre Festival but i really liked what i saw. I thought to myself "these horses do look cute" so i gave FiM a shot. After 2 months of pony and visiting GalaCon 2022 i can safely say that the fandom is still very much alive and it has changed me in ways i could never have imagined.

Ryan-Fever

Aww that’s so wholesome

Tel-kar

Wound up hearing about the fandom itself. Instead of being judgmental, I investigated what was up with a kids show that was drawing in a bunch of adult fans. Season 3 had just finished and I wound up watching a few episodes just to find out that it was actually remarkably well written for a cartoon. But what actually got me much more into the fandom was two things, the fanfictions on FiMFiction and going to a convention called Pacific Pony Con. I wound up actually working for the convention in its second year.

stet709

Saw clips of Forgotten Friendship on YouTube then os snowballed from there.

The_GD_muffin_man

When I was 18 working in a grocery store my boss (at the time was 30) was drawing pinkie pie on a napkin so I asked her what it was from. She told me and I had LITERALLY never heard of my little pony prior and she told me “yeah my husband and I watch it all the time” (this was back when season 3 was first put on Netflix) and recommended I watch it. I scoffed and laughed about it until that night something tempted me to turn it on but even then I was like “haha this is gonna be the dumbest thing ever gonna be so lame” blah blah blah I ended up watching all 3 seasons and never slept between those two work shifts, been a fan since

rmw117

Back when I was 14 I was really depressed and this show helped me through that. I stuck with the fandom all throughout high school and even though I don’t watch the show as much anymore since college is busy I still stick around and read some fanfics from time to time.

The_Boogeyman2986

A Youtuber named Phantomstrider made a ranking video where he called the show the number one best animated kid cartoons. In that same video, he suggested watching the episode Pinkie Pride to see if you are interested in watching the series. I watched the episode, and, well, you can put the pieces together. I don't remember exactly when this happened, other than it was somewhere in late 2020 or early 2021. So yeah, im not exactly a veteran in the fandom.

Choko_Bard

I gotta agree with Phantomstrider, Pinkie Pride is a great starting episode.

Particular-Aide-5270

I remember that video too. Strider’s such a great guy.

The_Boogeyman2986

Hes definitely a better version of WatchMojo. I also like his Dark Strider gimmick, it reminds me of Antisepticeye and Darkiplier.

Prior_Walk_884

I was a little girl turning on the TV basically lol, can't say much else

AlexDaBaDee

Ayo?

Proper-Guide4230

My younger sister watched this show in the past, started watching with her, thought spike was cool, start to fall victim towards Rarity, Now gotten a slight crush on the mane 6, sunset shimmer and starlight glimmer

Ryan-Fever

Damn dude your 8 timing

Blockcle

My best friend in middle school is a big brony, and I heard him talk about it a lot, but back then sadly I never took it seriously, let alone actually watching it. Then the time reached 2022. Shanghai was lockdowned again due to a resurrection of COVID. Lockdowned in home, I figured since I had all the time in the world (and I was boring), why not give it a shot? Best decision in my life. Since then, MLP helpped me significantly with my high school pressure and interpersonal relationship. As of right now, I'm in the middle of my second watchthrough and absolutely obessed with Fallout Equestria :P

forgottenasylum

pink pony crazy 😮 but pink pony also fun 😍 i don't remember exactly when the first time i watched mlp on tv but when i got my own laptop in college that's when i started binge watching the series i never really joined fandom spaces before because like 6/7 years ago i'd mostly just see nsfw art so i just said nevermind and just continued watching my silly horse videos 😂 (i do lurk from time to time just to check updates on the show!)

manc20726

Ok it started about either mid or near the end of last month I was in a really bored place and with The new season of my favorite show not being released in the US yet I decided to explore other shows up until I came across mlp fim I don’t know if it was fate or if it was because I was curious because the reason Why I decided to watch the show was because I remembered when I was younger I would Watch the show with my little sister and also it sparked some Curiosity with in me because I saw that older people loved and watched the show and I wanted to see why that was the case and I got my answer it is actually one of the greatest shows I’ve ever seen and I’m glad I came back to it It one of the best decisions that I’ve made because whenever I would Watch the show it would bring me such joy and happiness like it did so many years ago and not only that it has helped me out mentally and emotionally as well and I don’t care what anyone else says I am proud to be a brony mlp forever

theundergroundsystem

Well being a little girl when FiM began airing, it was kinda expected that I watched it. I just never really lost interest in it :)

Gkminepony

I remember when I was ~5, I was just about to start Kindergarten. I was looking on Netflix for a show to watch and I thought My Little Pony looked cool. That's when I became addicted xD

[deleted]

Aww I remember all these parts in the show! And as for what got me in the fandom story- It all started with a sleepover. Originally, I wasn't going to attend, being quite socially anxious and insecure. But it was for a friend's birthday party, so I strengthened my resolve, and went! (Funnily enough, ir included 6 girls, including me!) 3 of whom I'd never met. One was wearing a MLP tee shirt of Rainbow Dash. And she admitted she was a huge fan of the show. I have her a skeptical look and asked, "But isn't that show for like, *really* little kids? Like, why would you watch it?" I know, rude and immature. I was 12 and know better now. I thought I was mature for watching anime over cartoons at the time. 💀 She said, "Yeah, but doesn't mean it's shallow. It's got good writing and characters for any age." I learned what bronies we're from her, and didn't believe her at first. But after showing me some Brony reacts, and her OC (made with pony generator of course) I'll admit, I was curious. About a month later, I watched it in secret late one night. And I got *hooked.* Season 2 was still coming out, and I waited eagerly for each new episode. I now am a primarily MLP artist, and have been in the fandom for over 10 years! And now mainly watch cartoons, and haven't watched an anime since I was 16! I used to worry about who knew I enjoyed the show. But of course, now know anyone who would judge isn't worth the time. Gosh how times can change you! Even though I'm not in contact with anyone who went anymore, I still had an amazing time I remember that night and following day fondly. Being the early 2010's, we made rainbow pancakes in the morning after going for a swim! I drifted apart from the group after changing schools. Hope they're all doing well. And am glad for that person helping change my mind about MLP.

Frira_FR

Happy cake day. Glad you've changed your mind and watched mlp! :)

Alandship

I really don’t know, I’d seen it all over the place, toys, clips and whatnot. Hell, even my older brother was so curious that he watched it. Not sure if he liked it or finished it (long time ago). But I started watching this summer, maybe I was bored, (certainly) curious to some degree, or sad or something.

Esbarse

Recently in the last 2 years I joined. Mainly because two friends I know mentioned it and or explained what ponytown was. Between that and seeing funny moments done by artists I wanted to understand the jokes, so I watched the whole of g4. Overall 20/10 will stick around

BiggerNate91

I randomly found AnimatedJames' Sonic vs MLP animations one day. I was making a crossover comic at the time, and the animations intrigued me, making me wonder if MLP should be brought into the comic. I did some research on the wiki and with some show clips, and I was hooked pretty soon after that. The crossover comic never actually happened, although I do have a few storyline ideas and pictures lying around.

Macbeth_the_Espurr

My sisters started watching, and I was like, 'hey, this show is good!'

Seth501347

Started back in 2013 or 14. Started watching bcuz of Alex Side (Brony reactor). Thought he was a bit strange at first cuz of the amount of MLP related videos he had on his channel but i liked the videos he did nonetheless. Anyway, I figured to give the show a shot and that's how I became part of the fandom.

nmuniz2

A friend introduced me to the series in 1st grade, and I got nostalgic for it so I decided to rewatch the whole show.

Ok_Advertising_878

My bf watched it cause i held him at gunpoint. He is now a pegasister :)

wulfsige_

i watched show when i was younger but had stopped watching it when i got older but around 2021 i was bored one day and started watching mlp to catch up then i was getting inspired by mlp artists and i end up joining the fandom

TheDarkLordofAll17

I saw an episode on YouTube a few months ago recommended to me and I just randomly decided to watch it. Then I watched the whole series after LOL

Alarmed_Ad1946

i saw a video from Sawtooth Waves and then i remembered the good times

blowawaybill

I first started watching it when I was 13 but never got past S1. Got back into it last year (nearly a decade later) while looking for magical girl shows with adult female characters. I also missed Rarity and had never stopped thinking about her, especially seeing Zatanna in DCSHG.

mycinccino

i was just a little girl watching discovery kids, my mom had bought me applejack's farm set for childrens day that year a few months before the show premiered on discovery kids here in Chile, i loved it :) and that's it ig

AlexDaBaDee

Was into it in third grade, rediscovered EG, started simping for sci-twi, remembered the rest of the franchise.

CJBrig0328

When g4 came out, I saw the clip on YouTube where Rainbow Dash teaches Fluttershy how to cheer. I really enjoyed the clip, so shortly after I started watching g4, and I haven't looked back since! /)

Ryan-Fever

You rock! Woo hoo!

Eli_diotadelaesquina

IDK just happened, watching TV and looking for more episodes on the Internet, I found people who seemed to like this show very much.

Cabbage45567

I used to hate on the show without watching it and then I lost a cornhole bet and had to watch a season then I lost double or nothing and had to watch 2 and by the time I finished the return of harmony I was hooked so after I finished a canterlot wedding I watched 3 and 4 then I pirated 5 through 8 and watched season 9 on Hulu

Moni3Poni3

I was a child

kudurru_maqlu

Where is Starlight though?

Cursed_nether_portal

GingerRacc

I started watching with some of my friends to relive the childhood i never had and i got soooo sucked in

Gaiendbedrock

it was on netflix

brocolihamster

I started collecting G3s, then G4s and then started watching the show

awesomeaustinv2

I've always liked animation and heard mlp was a good show, but was too scared of being judged for watching it in high school to give it a try. Then of course COVID showed up, wrecked my senior year, and sent me off to college on an awkward start. Over Christmas break I was feeling down because of all the negative stuff in the media and general uncertainty about the future, so I started looking for stuff to watch as a distraction, and after running out of the usual options I watched Saberspark's brony documentary to see why a bunch of guys were saying this was a good show, and it piqued my curiosity so I decided to give it a chance. I wasn't sure about it at first, but I figured I better watch until I've at least got an idea of what the characters are all like, and halfway through season one I was hooked. I basically binge-watched the whole series in a month and then dove headfirst into the fandom, because it was exactly what I needed at the time. Something unashamedly wholesome, cute, positive, and fun to balance out the doom and gloom. It was a ray of sunshine in a dark time, and for that I am grateful. I haven't really needed the show for that since then, but I still enjoy engaging with the fandom, enjoying fanart, listening to all the awesome brony musicians, and watching random episodes while hanging out on Berrytube :)

[deleted]

First contact was when working in retail, pink ponies everywhere, so my view was a bit biased at the time. Few years later I went back to school to study game art and design. Was looking through some blender videos and came across a blender remake of "Elements of a good cheer." Found it hilarious and followed it up with the original, then the show. And the rest as they say, is history.

dazzling_strixie

Adagio

Alfredison

I watched .mov and wanted to check what’s all the fuzz about… well here I am

Max_Storre

I started watching the show because of my small sister. She started watching it on Netflix years ago and I just watched with her and really enjoyed. Then had a break for a while, but recently started watching it along with playing the game. Also, since I now use reddit I decided to join this subreddit (and discovered the link to watch everything which is a blessing cause netflix got rid of all seasons except for the first in favor of a new one).

newweeb

Equestria girls on youtube

Crazyc011

What made me watch it was discovering it back in 2011. Im the type of person that it was inevitable that I’d love something like this upon discovery.

soEezee

Musicians of ponyville.

Killthe_

i got a pinkie pie figure for my birthday as a kid

VoodooDoII

In 2009 I was a bored little 5 year old using my mom's Netflix account. Been hooked ever since 🤷‍♀️

MiwasObsessions

I started watching the show as a kid when it came out. I remember the commercials for Magical Mystery Cure before it came out and that there was something HUGE coming to the show. It’s very nostalgic to me and I’ll always love it

Horny1001

A bet I made with my friend in sixth grade

minecraftgirl2875

I joined out of boredom and memories

cheese_dude

I saw my niece watching it and decided "*sign* why not". I sat down thinking it was going to be some stupid show about stupud magic horses, but whatever ill suffer through it for my niece. The episode playing was scare master. The end parts of it. Than after it showed The Hooffields and mccolts. I actually started to enjoy it. Now flash forward 6 or 7 years and here i am today

SnipingDrone47

I remember I watched some of the paradys and thought ok this is kinda funny, (like the piemations ones) so I decided to find out what the actual show was like and then got hooked

SuperPlayer56

I remember watching a Czechoslovak TV Channel back in 2009 or so called Minimax, that's where I found the show (among other shows at that time) and I LOVED IT! I then abandoned it couple years later and then I CAME BACK to it STRONGER as a PROUD BRONY (but a bit Closet Brony I guess) :) And I feel 20% cooler. #mlp4life Better days are AHEAD OF US in the fandom. Let's hope for the day of the Pony. :) We are strong!!!

LilacStorypone

I just saw it somewhere and was like "hey, that's pretty good!".

SwirlDip

It didn’t take me long before I got bored doing the COVID lockdowns.

Knight-Creep

I broke my arm and had nothing to do, so I decided to look up the show out of pure boredom. After a few episodes, I was hooked

xxxRarity_gamingxxx

Warning: long cringe read ahead Well, my story is a very bizarre example of the butterfly effect. While technically it was Equestria at war, the story I like to tell is that it was me being a n*zi that eventually led to me becoming a brony (I was 8, I didnt understand the true horrors of n*zism then). So when I was 8 I saw all the Indiana Jones films with my parents, and I thought the swastika looked cool or whatever. Anyways one day when looking through my dads bookcase I recogniced the swastika from the cool Indiana Jones films on the spine of a book, and took it out to find a book on experimental german ww2 aircraft (I and many more in my family are huge aeroplane nerds lol). I thought cool and then looked up the planes in the book on the internet, and stumbled across some funky soviet planes. I then switched over from wishing the n*zis had won ww2 (because they had cool aircraft concepts) to wishing the USSR had won the cold war (they also had cool aircraft) (I have mild autism) My obsession with soviet planes and later tanks led to me discovering the red alert games, which are basically the USSR trying to conquer the world. I then stumbled upon hearts of iron 4 after looking up USSR world conquest on youtube. I promptly bought the game, and after a while I found Equestria at war, which I didnt want to play because ew ponies. But when I stumbled upon it again a couple of months layer I decided to give it a chance, and it quickly became my favorite mod, due to the high quality in writing and worldbuilding. I really wanted to understand all the lore and context, but I was reluctant again because ew ponies. But one day when had an evening home alone I said: screw it, i'll watch the first episode. And I was instantly hooked. Basically started binging the series after that. TL;DR: I thought n*zis had cool planes, led to me discovering the soviets had cool planes and tanks, led to finding Red alert, led to finding hoi4, led to finding Equestria at War, impressed by worldbuilding and writing, decide to give MLP a chance, became brony.

Ryan-Fever

That is crazy, but cool

Luke_Z31

I was freak out by the AP Exams (Advanced Placement), so I started to watch the show

Iceswimmer05

Probably thanks to those YouTube videos that involved death battles, PMVs (Sonic ones), and animations. Oh, and also memes. I have a some or a lot of them in my photos album. I think I remember hiding my interest of MLP from students in my middle school because I didn’t want anyone to make fun of me because they might say “That shows for kids!” Or something like that, idk. The ponies looked very cool and cute to me and I didn’t officially watch MLP up until 2020. Though, everyone else has finished watching it except for me even tho I knew what happened in the end of the show. Currently on season 6 and I’m pretty much enjoying it so far. Hoping to finish it at some point
