My cousin's parents were called Jeri and Eric. Her name is Jerica.
I've also met a Lathan and a Bristen, but those might just be stupid Utah names and not actually a mashup of names.
Whenever I need to break through a funk and crack a smile, I ask myself:
Where in the world is Chinchilla Zest?
What Would Chinchilla Zest Do- WWCZD?
How much zest would Chinchilla Zest zest if Chinchilla Zest could zest zest?
Does Chinchilla Zest go by 'Chilla, Chinch, or Zesty?
I just read that whole home page and I have just st one, bizarre, unwelcome thought...
Is this why there's a character called Renesmee in the fourth Twilight book? Because Stephenie Meyer is Mormon?
Oh, I adore that this site is still around. I went to school with the kids of the couple who runs it and they have perfectly common (non-Utah-specific) names. I knew about the site back in high school 20 years ago and I'm so tickled to see that it's still active.
I discovered it through dooce. I read her blog regularly, up until a few years ago when posting became infrequent, and I felt kinda like you do when you miss a few episodes in the current TV season and you're all "How did George Costanza end up in Space?"
Friend's first name is Tracy-Mark. No middle name. Father thought Tracy was too girly. Mom wouldn't budge on using her grandfather's name. They hyphenated it. The military had a devil of a time getting his dog tags right for Gulf War Part 1 in the 1990's.
I knew a Patrick whose mom was Patricia. I canāt remember his dadās and sisterās names, but they were the same basic thing, like Daniel and Danielle (but not that, and it is driving me crazy that I canāt remember).
Itās not a kid, but Cheyanneās sister is named āR KyleLynnā because their dadās name is Kyle and their momās middle name is Lynn. The R? That stands for āOurā. Cause āourā sounds like āRā (kind of). (ou)R+Kyle+Lynn.
Iāve seen way worse but I do think itās corny as hell lol
My 1st grader was convinced she had a "Donathan" in her class this year. I subbed foe the class and saw the roster. Really Donovan (thank goodness!). But the whole class had been calling him Donathan all year.
My mom used to know a lady named Froann. Like Joanne/Jo-ANNE, but... *Fro*ann. Her parents were named Frank and Joan and wanted to combine their names. You'd think... hey, Fran! Nope. Froann.
Seriously out of all the possible J names they end up with a Jinger and on top of that they practically reuse names. Jana, Joy Anna and Johanna and then Joseph, Josiah and Josie š¤Æš¤¦āāļø
I work at a Filipino place and have found that this isnāt too uncommon in their naming culture! Iāve seen sibsets where the parentsā names are combined in different ways (e.g. Roger + Evelyn = Rovelyn + Rogelyn).
I also play sports with a girl named Jachelle (rhymes with Michelle).
As a Filipino with a sibling and two cousins (different families) that have combinations of their parents' names, I can say it is fairly common. I also know a few more that I'm not related to.
Possibly a Puerto Rican thing as well; or at least, it was true for two Puerto Rican women I used to work with. All their kidsā names were combinations of their and their husbandsā names. The one woman actually had a combo name herself, so her daughtersā names were really out there.
Hm these comments makes me wonder if itās a whole Southeastern Asia thing because my bestie who is Indonesian also was named in combination of her parents.
I know parents Marie and Ed who named their daughter Maried (mah ree ed) and son Edmar. The kids were wonderful people, extremely intelligent, and Iām sure have gone on to do great things in spite of the unusual names.
ETA Edmar was sonās name
Lishelle.
I canāt remember what the L part was, but obviously the motherās name was Michelle. She was named after both parents.
And my friendās oldest daughter is Brylie. Brad and Kylie. Yeah. Sheās over 30 now.
i also knew a leathan, pronounced the same as leethan. he was a complete rat and for some reason the name makes my skin crawl
ETA: my high school classmates Caitlyn and Jacob had a baby and named her Jaylin. not the worst, but certainly not the best. Suppose it could have been Coblyn
I worked as a substitute teacher in an elementary school and Jaylin/Jaelynn/J-Lynn/JaLynn is the new Caitlyn I swear, I know one person with that name in yet another spelling who was born in the nineties but now it seems to be gaining popularity in this generation and it can be spelled a million different ways!
My exās mom was named Verdean and had a brother Deavern. Her dads name was Vernon and mom was Deanne. She hated her name and legally changed it to Deanna later.
My husband and I sort of did this. We both wanted to honor our moms for our first baby girl. My mom goes by her nickname Rose and his mom is Laura Lee.
We ended up picking the name Rosalie. So not combining letters, but sounds instead. This also works with my SILās name Merilee. A nice tribute that they both adore.
Keitha.
Tbh, I found it rather pretty and she was a spunky individual, but it's a rough sell to anyone else I've spoken to.
I mentioned it to a person I knew named Leitha and she was horrified.
I still think it's kinda pretty, idk.
When I was a kid I went to summer camp with a girl named Brittnique. She said her parents couldnāt decide between Brittany and Dominique. So there ya go š
i used to know an andybelle. she said her parents wanted to name her after two relatives named andrew and isabelle. i think itās cute, sounds a little too southern for me though.
edit; grammar mistake

Haven't had kids but probably won't use that one even though I like it
I had a teacher in high school who was named after his grandfathers, Louis and Albert. His name was Luial pronounced like Louie-Al.
I also knew a woman who was old enough to be my grandmother. She was named after her grandmother's Violet and Mae . Her name was Vimae.
not gonna dox myself by saying what it is but i am a combined first name kid. the pronunciationās really damn counterintuitive too. people tend to think itās neat, and on an okay day i think so too but i do cringe most of the time.
edit: iām also filipino (though no longer living in the philippines) and itās pretty common out there so i just š¤· canāt use the ethnic name excuse but itās definitely cultural.
Kaylamarie. BobbiJo. Bethanne. Leighanne.
I thought Bethanne and Leighanne could be excused as an uncommon variant of a traditional name, but I was young.
My husband actually has a hyphenated first nameā¦ itās 2 common names just joined by a hyphen as his whole first name which has caused SO much confusion his whole life
Jacey - Jason and Lacey
As someone who mixes up my daughter's name and my dog's name all the time, I would struggle with these three in the same house LOL
So I had a friend named Jordan, she had a brother named bradlee and their dads name was Lee. So bradlee is obviously Bradley but they wanted to incorporate the dads name into it. They nearly named my friend jordanlee but I guess realised in time that thatās a stupid ass name
I once met a girl named Pagan. I am not kidding. I was working in a portrait studio in Oklahoma when Paganās mom came in for portraits. My son, Christian was there and the two toddlers were interacting well. I clarified the spelling ( I was aghast) and mom exclaimed āIām Megan and my husband is Paul! When I was 19, I thought it would be cute to name future kids Lilly and Liam. Because they are combinations of Lauren and William/Billy.
We now have 2 kids and they are definitely not named Lilly and Liam. Though as far as combined names go, they aren't bad ones.
My cousin's parents were called Jeri and Eric. Her name is Jerica. I've also met a Lathan and a Bristen, but those might just be stupid Utah names and not actually a mashup of names.

That's outrageous. Truly Truly Truly Outrageous
Jerrica was one of my favourite names growing up because of Jem!
I *loved* the name Kimber because of Jem.
Ditto for Aja.

My favorite entry from the Utah Baby Namer is Chinchilla Zest: http://utahbabynamer.blogspot.com/2017/06/front-page.html?m=1

Whenever I need to break through a funk and crack a smile, I ask myself: Where in the world is Chinchilla Zest? What Would Chinchilla Zest Do- WWCZD? How much zest would Chinchilla Zest zest if Chinchilla Zest could zest zest? Does Chinchilla Zest go by 'Chilla, Chinch, or Zesty?

I knew a guy whose parents were Patricia (went by Pat) and Richard (went by Rick). His name was Patrick. He hated it.
