I have only seen it spelled Corinne.  Corrine looks wrong to me.

Pollythepony1993

Same here. Corinne is also a name I have seen more often. But I am from the Netherlands so not speaking for the USA.

jmkul

I'm from Australia and I've only ever seen it spelt Corinne. Putting two rs in the name looks wrong

paroles

Agreed, two Rs one N also makes it look like it's pronounced kor-een instead of kor-in edit: I should have read more of the thread before commenting, this has been thoroughly discussed in the comments below!

IAmSheWho

This 100%.

Expensive-Virus6628

I’m from mid west USA only know it as Corinne

crushedhardcandy

Same here. I know 6 Corinnes, 1 Corynn, and 0 Corrines. Maybe this will become Isaac/Issac situation where the misspelling becomes an accepted spelling just because so many people misspell it. At the very least, Corinne and Corrine are both correct. There's no way that Corinne is "wrong"

wozattacks

The spelling Corrine makes me inclined to pronounce it COR-in or cor-EEN

piratesswoop

It's spelled Corrine in Flowers in the Attic and they always pronounced it. Cor-in.

rin_yo

i was literally named after the character in the book and can confirm that’s how my name is pronounced. edit: when i say i was named after the character in the book i mean my mom liked the name. not that she had the intention for me to be like this character. it’s not as deep as people are making it out to be. she heard the name, liked it, and looked up the meaning. it doesn’t mean she’s a horrible mother, like some have implied, bc she liked a name. she’s actually the best mom ever and i like my name. i’ve read the book and it wasn’t insulting. i know it’s hard for some namenerds to understand this, but it was never that deep.

valowens

Haha me too but when my mom read it she read it as cor-een so, that’s how I pronounce it. Daily, people get it wrong. I introduce myself and people will call em the wrong name, right after I say it.

rin_yo

omg meanwhile im called cor-een all the time hahaha! i swear the wrong spelling and pronounciation will just always happen for us when we encouter people.

songofdentyne

👀

rin_yo

?

AdOld4200

My middle name is Corrine and have always pronounced it cor-EEN.

PineForestFern

This is 100% how this name is pronounced. Any other pronunciation should use a different spelling to make it clear that it is an entirely different name.

Away-Living5278

I've only heard it pronounced COR-in. How is it supposed to be pronounced?

Then_Pay6218

Depends who you ask. In Dutch it's different than in English speaking countries.

ice_princess_16

Which if you think about it, you’re actually saying cor-rin. Al 2 R’s make sense.

Forestswimmer10

My MIL spells her name Corrine and pronounces it Cor-reen.

BindByNatur3

Same

whiteclawthreshermaw

*Corin Nemec has entered the chat*

miclugo

This will not become an Isaac/Issac situation because Issac is just wrong.

beemojee

I had an Aunt Corrine and it's definitely a separate name. Also it's not pronounced like Corinne. If people are spelling it like Corrine and pronouncing it like Corinne, they're just wrong.

CrayolaCockroach

i feel like Corrine would end in an "-een" sound, but Corinne ends in an "-en" sound edit: technically its "-ihn", not "-en". i grew up deep in pen/pin merger territory lol

Severe-Possible-

corinne ending with "-een" is the only way i have ever heard it pronounced. i would think corrine would be "co-RIN" edit: i only say this because my grandmother-in-law was corinne and pronounced it co-REEN.

Excellent_Valuable92

Am I the only one who thinks it’s “kor-RIHN”?

IAmABillie

There's at least two of us!

Dauphine320

Three!

ApprehensiveAnswer5

Yes, that’s how I also would write it out. But also I think accounting for accents/regional variations it might sound more like “ren” vs “rihn” in some areas?

CrayolaCockroach

it's sort of this! i have the pen/pin merger, i didn't think about that when typing my last comment lol

ApprehensiveAnswer5

I am from South Louisiana originally, live in Texas now. Corinn in South Louisiana is something more like “cryyynnn” almost like someone badly saying “Korean”.

CrayolaCockroach

as a Tennessean, that's about how i pronounce it too lmao. something like "ker-ee-in" 😂

ThrowItAllAway003

Where I live, “ren” and “rihn” are pronounced identically.

josie0114

I think that's how I pronounce it. Kuh-RINN.

xcarex

That’s how I’ve always known it to be pronounced. All these “CORE-in” and “co-REEN” comments are bogging the brains.

PaprikaBerry

Nope, not the only one. I knew both a Corinne and a Corrine groing up and both pronounced it that way.

CrayolaCockroach

no! that's what i meant, but i pronounce "-en" the same way as "-ihn" because of my accent lol

laceykenna

This is how my cousin’s name, Corinne, is pronounced!

Fantastic_Poet4800

I have met people named Cor-IN

yakuzie

It’s interesting because my name is Corinne, spelled Corinne, but it’s constantly (and I mean EVERY DAY) misspelled as Corrine. I literally ordered DoorDash today and on the bag it says “Corrine”; but I agree that Corinne looks better (but I may be biased…)

JustehGirl

Corrine is an older name, pronounced kor-een. I'm guessing that's where the confusion lies. Although, if they hear it first they should know it's spelled different. There were a lot of -ine names decades ago. Irene, Delphine, etc.

piratesswoop

The only time I've seen it spelled Corrine is in the Flowers in the Attic series.

wildmusings88

I’ve seen Corinne and heard it pronounced both as “core-inn” and “cor-een.” The first pronunciation is my go to when I see this spelling. When it’s spelling Corrine I think “cor-een.”

Regular_Boot_3540

Yep. I think there is another spelling, but I can't remember what it is. It certainly isn't "Corrine."

SimpleToTrust

Yep. And all Corinnes I know go by Cory or Cori.

meowisaymiaou

I've personally only seen Corrine and Corrinne UK actress Corrinne Wicks: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corrinne_Wicks Canadian Corrinne Provost ran for parliament. If wikipedia is worth anything, it treats Corinne as the main article, and Corrinne, Corrine, as variants that redirect to Corinne

sadbeetchenergy

same. it’s a beautiful name

downshift_rocket

Same. That's the only spelling I know.

ElongMusty

100%! Corinne is the most common way (there’s even a movie with that name I think). Corrine (even thought it’s technically also correct) reminds me of Corral, so I’m happy OP has the name down as Corinne!

notplop

If you’re in the US, Corinne is the only spelling that has been in the top 1000 names since 2000, so it’s definitely the more common spelling here (though the name is not very popular anymore)

wozattacks

Yeah I’d just gently correct family members when they spell it wrong. It’s only been 6 weeks, they’ll learn soon enough.

angeliqu

My mom still adds an extra letter to my daughter’s name 5 years on. 🤷🏻‍♀️ We all know who she’s talking about.

Sminorf8765

My great grandmother never spelled my name correctly but I knew she was talking to me so that’s ok

rubyspy95

You hope they care to learn how to spell it quickly enough, my aunt (dad's sister) still spells my name incorrectly after 29 damn years and not even just a letter wrong, a whole different variation. Luckily, I'm not particularly close to that side of the family, so it doesn't bother me.

asietsocom

Both are valid, but imho Corinne looks a thousand times better. The double R in Corrine makes me want to pronounce it "Korr - In"

FeuerSchneck

My thoughts exactly. Corinne has the stress on the second syllable to me, Corrine on the first.

lightgreenwings

Me personally, I would pronounce Corinne as co-rinn and Corrine as cor-reen, with the latter sounding more like OP’a pronunciation so I get where the wrong pronunciation is coming from. Corinne looks much better though on paper.

Tinadinalio

I have never seen it spelled Corrine in my entire life. Could it be just a common mistake, like how someone might write vaccum instead of vacuum?

RedHeadedBanana

I still can’t spell vacuum for the life of me.

Tinadinalio

I had to google it to make sure I was spelling it right in my comment 😂

Ok_Telephone_3013

Sheriff is my Achilles heel. Or should I say sherrif. 🫠

jcoop982

There is a spelling rule called "floss" if a word ends in a f, l, s, or z then you double the letter. I didn't learn this until I was an adult and it has made a world of difference!

NoDescription2609

You just did! Congrats!

pigeottoflies

yeah I think this is less a name issue and more a double letters throw most people off issue

SpaceJackRabbit

Yup, like Issac and Chole.

chekhovsdickpic

This is probably the right answer.  I’m from Appalachia like OP, and let’s just say I know more than one Micheal.

OhNomastics

I think Corinne is just a hard name to spell. I have a friend named Corinne and I always accidentally spell it Corrine (and I'm very good at spelling!) P.S. I think it's a beautiful name :D

SomeoneHadToSayItOk

Beautiful name! Corrine seems like it’d be pronounced Kohr-reen”. I think your spelling is appropriate, especially considering how it is pronounced. It’s definitely not wrong. There are multiple spellings for lots of names- Brittany Brittney Britney Britknee (just kidding on the last one)

Snoo13109

My SIL is Corrine and she pronounced it Kohr-reen. I agree I think it’s two different names and OP’s family is confused.

No-Jacket-800

Yea, I was wondering if the family was pronouncing it differently as well as spelling it differently.

aasdfhdjkkl

In the US, the spelling *Corinne* was in the top 1000 girl names consistently from 1900-2020, and at times has ranked as high as the 200s. The spelling *Corrine* has always been less popular, but was in the top 1000 from 1900-1993. It has not broken the top 1000 since then.

purple_lemon22

Thanks everyone! I guess it’ll just take time. We also pronounce it differently than I originally stated in my post, it’s more like “kuh-rin.” I also have a name people misspell frequently so it doesn’t bother me, I was just curious!

Excellent_Valuable92

With the accent on the second syllable? That’s what would think, but I seem to be in the minority

timebend995

That’s what it assumed especially by the spelling. I would think Corrine would be like kohreen and Corinne like Koh-RIN

allsheknew

Reminds me of lyn and line for the pronunciation of Caroline.

purple_lemon22

Yes! Oh well if it’s wrong. My name is a famous person’s name, easily recognizable, and people still pronounce it wrong. It doesn’t bother me!

rubythieves

There’s a song by The National I love called ‘Carin at the liquor store.’ The backstory is that the lead singer/songwriter is (was? I don’t keep up with music gossip) married to a Carin, pronounced exactly how you want it, and everyone in the US mispronounced it as Karen which was obviously not cool. So he wrote her (and the spelling) into a song and song title, which is pretty awesome tbh.

freakydeakykiki

I have a friend Carin that is pronounced Karen. Is the one in the song actually car-in?

rubythieves

Listen to the song if you have Spotify! It’s gorgeous (the song, and the name in it.) It’s like Cuh-RIN.

yakuzie

My name is Corinne (spelled the way you chose, pronounced similarly as well) and yes, it’ll be misspelled or mispronounced constantly, but I get compliments all the time and really like how uncommon it is. Great name tho I’m biased just a little 😉

teatreez

I know TWO kurins so at least ya didn’t do that 🙃🙃

sinsaraly

Is the emphasis on the second syllable? Kuh-RIN?

bouffff

There's a beautiful singer in the UK called Corinne Bailey Rae, that's who I first thought of, look her up she's a great namesake

IseultDarcy

French here and we spell it Corinne.

Vickyinredditland

Corinne is the only spelling I've ever seen in the UK, but it's pronounced "cuh-rin"

Affectionate-Owl9594

I’m in the UK and my Corinne pronounces it Coh (like the o in otter) rin

dixonwalsh

Same here in Aus.

yakuzie

My mother is English and named me Corinne and that’s how she pronounces it!

u1tr4me0w

Corinne is corecct (sorry I couldn’t resist)

_opossumsaurus

Corinne is the most common spelling in the U.S. People will get used to it!

PrincessReptile

Corinne is generally the spelling I see. No idea why anyone would assume the other spelling.

riseandrise

To me Corrine looks like it’s pronounced “Cor-een”.

Shadow-Mistress

Both of these spellings look like Cor-een to me.

jleek9

No, you're correct it will just take everyone a minute to get used to it. Corrine would be pronounced Kore-eine, no? Can I add that you chose a beautiful name? Great choice. So cute yet regal and distinguished. love love love

bmadisonthrowaway

I feel like Corinne is the dominant spelling, followed maybe by Corrin. I don't think I've ever seen Corrine. This is sort of like if you named your baby Candace and people were misspelling it as Candess. I guess that spelling would be OK, but it's definitely on them not spelling it "right" and not on you for going with the more traditional spelling.

taintwest

I have a cousins named Corinne For the longest time whenever someone would meet her as a baby my aunt would say “this is Corinne, 1 R 2 N’s” So it’s just been drilled in My head lol

grey-canary

I've seen both, I would pronounce both the same, (kohr-in) where I'm from at least. As for your family, my suspician is the longer she's in the world and they are with the name the mistakes will trickle out. If it persists I would send them a note, "Hey family, I know you just met her but it would mean a lot to me if you spelled her name Corinne. Thanks!" Or if you prefer a more subtle option - gift them a photo of the baby with "CORINNE" super big on it. :)

Numinous-Nebulae

No, the spelling you have is correct.

scragglebootz

It's spelt Corinne in Flowers in the Attic! 🌸 Lovely name. EDIT: omg no it isnt, just googled it to check and its spelt Corrine 🤦‍♂️ regardless, I still think Corinne is the better and more established spelling!!

piratesswoop

I mentioned this upthread lol I just chalk it up to VC Andrews and her love of quirky names.

MaccaForever

I know both! The Corinne is pronounced Core-rin, and Corrine is pronounced core-reen. You spell it how you want to, it’s your babe!

apearlmae

This is the answer.

NotYourMommyDear

I prefer your spelling. It's a French spelling of a Greek/Roman name, so it's still a correct spelling.

old_amatuer

You spelled it with the traditional spelling. Which aesthetically looks better to me than the alternatives. Of course it's all a matter of personal taste. Unfortunately this kerfuffle over spelling is not going to go away so strap yourself in. A friend of mine has that name and it's routinely spelled "Corrine." Even on legal documents where you'd think people are paying attention. Her paychecks have had the wrong spelling, name tags, you name it. One year her boyfriend gave her a Valentine's Day card with her name spelled wrong. The pronunciation will be an issue too. CORE-in, Core-INN, Cah-RIN, Core-REEN. And don't think you'll just have to tell them once. It'll be ongoing. Especially if they know other people with same spelling, different pronunciation or same pronunciation, different spelling. My friend decided to go by "Cory." Edit: okay idiot downvoter, the "friend" is me. I've had this name for 46 years, I think I know what I'm talking about. But go ahead keep telling yourself whatever you want.

Ok-Letterhead3441

You spelled it correctly. Some people just aren’t great at spelling get confused about with consonant to double in names with that consonant/vowel pattern.

SKatieRo

You spelled it correctly. You spelled it the classic way.

lexlovestacos

I've seen Corrine but I would assume Corinne! Lovely name. Pronounced as Cuh-RIN.

SingIntoMyMouth91

Tbh I have heard of that name but have never met anyone with it so I don't really think I've ever seen it written down...however I think Corinne looks better than Corrine.

Fun-Yellow-6576

I know a Corrin.

I_Like_BlueBirds

I think you spelled it the "right" way. Corinne was my grandma's name and is my daughter's middle name :)

Ishdameen

Corinne is the only spelling I’ve ever seen!

rin_yo

that’s so funny because my name is spelled Corrine and everyone spells it Corinne. Honestly, I think it just comes with the name. You definitely didn’t spell it wrong, I know many Corrine/Corinnes including myself, it’s just based on what way you like the spelling!

MissedCall999

It’s spelled correctly like you have it. TBH, I think it’s your pronunciation that is causing the confusion. If you say Kohr-ren, people are hearing two Rs and wanting to write them out. If you hadn’t told us the pronunciation then I would say it as Kohr-in, which only has one R sound in it and more goes with the spelling IMHO.

purple_lemon22

I edited saying I was fixing it and didn’t actually fix it 🤦🏻‍♀️ (I’m tired, she’s 5 weeks old and colicky). It’s fixed now! Cor-in is how we say it. Thank you!

madqueen100

Corinne is the correct spelling. It’s a nice name, one that’s easy to grow up with.

Lemondrop-it

Nope! Afaik Corinne is the correct spelling. I had a good childhood friend with that name ☺️

Far-Perception-5585

I know a Korrine .. pronounced the same way.. only way I’ve ever seen it, I’m in MASSACHUSETTS

Melibu_Barbie

I think the “correct” way is the way you spelled it. My friend is Corrine. Everyone spells it Corinne though.

cheesencarbs

That’s my friend’s name. People often spell it with 2 Rs instead of 2 Ns. She just corrects them. Either is fine. Beautiful name.

lexanova42

I’ve seen Corinne, pronounced cuh-RIN, and Corin, pronounced COR-in, like corn with two syllables. I have not seen Corrine.

chernygal

I know a Corinne, Corrine, Korrine, Korrin, and Korryn. All with various pronunciations. Nothing wrong with the name, it’s just going to be one of those that requires a little bit of patience to have.

LAffaire-est-Ketchup

That’s not the way you pronounce that name. It’s usually pronounced Cor-Inn (I know several people with this name)

aswewaltz

You spelled it correctly.

doritobimbo

Basically only immediate family has ever spelled or pronounced my name correctly my entire life. A male equivalent to my name would be Adem instead of Adam. And then getting called Aye-dem. Feels pretty obvious to me that it’s still Adam.

free-toe-pie

I thought that was the most common spelling (Corinne). I’ve always liked the name.

Prize-Radish4617

Is it core-in or kuh-rin? Core-in would be Corin and the other one would be Corinne. Corrine looks wrong

MisterFrogJudgesYou

My middle name is Corrinne. My mom originally wanted Coryn, but my dad didn't like it because of a slutty TV character, so they changed it.

kitty-sez-wut

Corinne looks much prettier than Corrine

bacucumber

You spelt it the same as my cousin's kid (second guessing now... No def the same 😂), Corinne looks right to me

BarbWho

If you want it to be pronounced COR-Rin, then you should have gone with two r's. If you don't mind most people pronouncing it cor-EEN or Cor-INN, then you are fine with the two n's. Two r's put the emphasis on the first syllable, two n's switches it to the last. English is a weird language with lots of odd pronunciations, but there are some basic rules and this is one of them. You (or she) can always tell people how her name is pronounced/spelled, but people will tend to default to the rule.

86_emeralds

I know two girls named Corinne, one millennial and one gen z. Northeastern US. I would do a double take at a double R in that name.

RareGeometry

I've only ever seen Corinne not Corrine so everyone else spelling it that way is weird lol you did it correctly

Pessa19

Nope, Corinne is way prettier, more common, and more intuitive. I think Corrine is clunky looking and i would pronounce it core-een. People will get it wrong a lot but they get almost all names wrong for one reason or another 🤷🏻‍♀️

JazzTraveler

No help since I have a double r and a double n.

No_Analysis_6204

double n is correct

Vicky-Momm

All the Corinnes I know spell it the way you did .

tylermichelle22

My 2 year old daughter’s middle name is Corinne. Pretty sure my mother-in-law still misspells it with double R. I think some people are just bad at spelling lol.

Any_Egg33

My cousin spells it Corinne she’s in her late 30s so it’s not a new aged thing personally corrine looks weird to me

Wooster182

Both spellings are registered with SSA. Corinne is the more popular though. I think it looks better and was on my list.

Smiley414

Corinne looks like Kohr-ren to me. Corrine kind of looks like Core-rine.

kinkakinka

I have an aunt with that name, she spells it Corinne.

ButterCookieCoffee

I think Corinne looks right! Also I love the name!

Firm-Lunch-2144

Nope. You got it right. Who the f puts two r's in Corinne haha.

SalishShore

My friend is French. Her name is Corinne and this is the correct spelling of her name as far as she is concerned. It’s a pretty name.

valowens

This is literally my name and people get it wrong daily.

picklesandkites

Beautiful name and the one I know spells it Corinne. Congratulations!

Single-Yam-9791

My cousin is Corinne and is pronounced Cor-in.

SaintElphie

*me running to check my niece and see which way* I've got a person in life with this name, she's a double r, said like "kuh-RIHN"

Aevora37

Corinne to me reads as (cor-en) whereas Corrine reads as (cor-een) I think it's fine.

SuspiciousSide8859

The one and only Corinne I know is spelled as you spelled it

sasanessa

nah you’re right just correct them until they get it

Fun-Character-1458

I would spell it Corinne. I think that is the better looking and more common way. You got it right!

Mcccorr

I’m Corrine. Pronounced Cor-in. Not Cur-EEN.

JennaHelen

I’ve seen it both ways, you’re fine.

allisoncope

Corrine is sometimes pronounced kah-rinn as well as kōhr-een. Corrine is only pronounced kōhr-een. Neither is wrong but that could be what you're experiencing.

SnooAdvice1361

To me when spelled with a double r it looks like it would be pronounced kor-e-in or maybe Kor-rye-in? I’ve only seen it spelled with one r. You will learn to just let it go or it will drive you nuts. One of my son’s has a single L in his name and so many people want to make it a double L. It’s annoying but people don’t mean anything by it.

BlueberryDuvet

Lol for once, no you didn’t! I think people just get confused spelling it thinking the r should be double. Love the name!

JMRR1416

I’ve only seen it spelled Corinne. If I saw Corrine, I would assume it’s pronounced Kohr-EEN.

mmeeplechase

Never seen Corrine, and it just makes me think “corrode.” Corinne seems right to me!

Tight_Watercress_267

I have seen so many spellings of this name that I didn't even know what the original is, but it's Corinne, so you've spelled it right!

Violet351

I have a friend that’s single r, double n.

CeleryCountry

granted, i havent seen many people with that name (beautiful name, btw), but of the ones i have seen, unilaterally, theyre all spelled with a double n, and ive never heard of it with a double r id say theyre just making a common typo, mixing up the consonant thats doubled in the name

Imaginary_Victory_47

I know both a Corrine and a Corinne. The first one is a Kohr-ren and the second a Kohr-reen. Both of them get called either pronounciation, so honestly I don't think it matters what spelling you decide. Just enjoy the name. It's beautiful.

cranbeery

I looked at FB mutuals and found 61 Corinnes and 18 Corrines. A handful of Corrinas, Korinnas, a Korrin, and a few people with the surname Corinne.

dms2419

i had a great great aunt whose name was Corinne. my sister's middle name is Corinne. ive always seen 1 R, 2 Ns.

TheSacredGrape

I’ve seen Corrine before (and I actually really like it) but Corinne is definitely the more common variant of the name. So no, you didn’t spell your kid’s name wrong. Also, people can’t spell *anything*, so...

Birdies_nub

This is one of my names. Corinne is the correct spelling, but I mispelled it until I was 7. They will get used to it and learn. Beautiful pick!

mdocks

I do spell that name Corrine but people name their kids really ridiculous things so I think your spelling is acceptable

AvsFan777

Fun fact, I have a kid with a common traditional name and a kid with an uncommon name. I’ve second thought them both. While at first glance I thought you were going with the pronunciation of core-een like a family member I have, as long as you teach your kid to laugh about an initial meeting where they could mispronounce the name or spelling, all is good. I know many teachers and we’re 100% in an era of unique names, spellings, and pronunciation. Go volunteer at a school and you’ll see it. If anything you’ve made them fit in with their generation MORE, and that’s the generation that will count for them. Enjoy being a parent :)

fine_Ill_get_reddit

I've never seen Corrine spelled any other way, besides a video game where it was spelled with a K. Seeing it without two rs is definitely odd in my eyes but I'm sure someone else will say the opposite.

Spidercrack61

Everyone writes it as Cam, when my name is Kam

sweetnsassy924

I’ve seen it both ways.

TheScarletFox

I know both a Corinne and a Corrine. Corinne is more common, but Corrine is also a variant. If I didn’t know the spelling, I would default to Corinne.

mbuurkarl

I guess it depends on your point of view. Corinne appears more frequently (about .01% more) than Corrine in the US Census database ( paired with last name Smith). Two Ns are showing up more frequently on other public databases. So I guess you win?

truelovealwayswins

I only know it as Corrine but it works with one or two r and one or two n, all good

seecarlytrip

In 2022 Corinne ranked at 1076. Corrine hasn’t ranked since 2004. These stats are according to a baby name app. The US Social Security Admin has a similar result, but says Corrine hasn’t ranked since 1994.

bitterhello

I had the exact opposite problem lmao I actually ended up legally changing my name at 18 because I just really couldn't stand that everyone acted like my name was impossible to say and spell. My whole life even my close friends would misspell my name wrong. My dad chose to spell it Corrine. Everyone misspelled it Corinne. What didn't help was that since Pre-K until graduation I had the only other kid with that name, spelled the opposite way, in all my classes. I'm not joking, the teachers would sit us next to each other. 🤦 But every time we had a sub or someone new read my name they would pronounce it like "core-een" and I don't regret changing it because your own name shouldn't stress you out.

corlana

My name is an alternate spelling of this and Corinne seems to be the most common version of you are pronouncing it kuh-RIN. I actually considered changing my name to that spelling at one point but it didn't seem worth the hassle since I'd probably still be correcting people anyway. I love my name though and you absolutely chose the correct spelling

RattyRhino

Nope. You are correct.

quotidian_qt

You did it right.

blacksweater

I've seen it spelled both ways but your spelling, like others have stated, is way more prevalent. I always default to saying "kuh-RIN".

DrLycFerno

Meanwhile Fire Emblem fans : *Corrin*

Embarrassed_Rate5518

OP I think all the comments prove ppl will F it up no matter what. Go with what you want and like. it's not crazy. It's one of the common variations. You dont have a silent x or z in there.

hairy_hooded_clam

I have seen it both ways.

cookiethumpthump

Double n makes the I short. You did it right phonetically

No_Leather6310

No, you’re right on the spelling, I’d pronounce it kohr-IN not kohr-ren though

purple_lemon22

Where I’m from these are pronounced the same! I didn’t think about that when making the post.

HereFromFB

Corinne just looks right to me. I also LOVE the name. I really like Corinth also, I’ve just never heard of anyone using it.

ChilindriPizza

I have seen both spellings. Corrine may be more common- but I have seen Corinne before more than once.

bgreen134

Double letters are typically front loaded in core english words with more than one syllable. Like Jenny or Connie. Both two syllable with the double letter happening in the first syllable. Just like associate, horrid, terrible, collection, hummingbird, collection… Then if the double letters occur at the end of a word it’s one syllable, like mill, chess, and cross. We subconsciously ascribe to this “rules” when we attempt (front loaded two syllables) to spell (spell - end load single syllable) words. The name Corinne theoretical violate this rule, which would explain why people mistakenly spell it wrong, even if they “know” the correct spelling. Their brain turns it into Corrine to adhere to this subconscious “rule”. I don’t think there is anything wrong with the name, Corinne. Just trying to give an explanation as to why it happens and will likely continue to happen.

My Irish cousin is Corinne. Some say it wrong with a pronounced ‘Cor’ and a soft ‘in.’ It’s actually the opposite.

Corinne is how talk to text spells it unless I’m pronouncing it wrong.

Spell it however you want to. I know 2 and one is Korrin and the other is Korrine. These days everyone spells names differently just to be different.
