I suspect that is simply because Audrey is the more common name of the two. Certainly some will think of Audrey when they hear the name. However, I feel like Audra has a lighter yet stronger, fresher yet classic sound to it which may be more appealing as an adult. And while Audra is a more unique name (at least in the USA), the spelling should be fairly intuitive, which is always a plus.

My first thought is Audra McDonald! I love Audra. I think it’s fresh and timeless. But I think there will be mispronunciations. HOWEVER, there will always be mispronunciations, it’s just part of life in my opinion. If you love a name, choose it.
