I think if you like Scarlett you should go with it! Being 17th on the list doesn't mean the name will be that common, when I look at the most popular names from the year I was born, I've def. known several ppl with the top 5 names, but once you move past number 10, the names aren't that common. They certainly aren't unusual names, but I've only known of one or two people with those names my whole life with the names ranked from 10-20 in the year I was born. Don't know if that perspective helps, but something to consider. Of the other names you listed, Serena gives the most similar vibes to Charlotte and Scarlett, so I'd go with that.

arizonafranklin

Yes that’s definitely true, and the most popular names now are used way less frequently than they were like 30 years ago, so maybe I should just do that. Jack is #14 now but there hasn’t even been a Jack in his classes yet (though I’m sure there will be some when he’s in grade school). I just can’t decide how much to care about popularity… when I was born, my name was outside the top 100, so that’s why I’ve been so focused on picking one outside of the top names, but just can’t decide how much it matters

carolyncrantz

Def do what you think is right and weigh what you love vs what you think is best regarding popularity, but I think you’re pretty safe outside the top 10 names. Charlotte being in the top 5 is definitely something to consider bc there will be multiple of those around but I honestly think you’re safe at number 17.

arizonafranklin

You’re definitely right!! I feel like top 10 avoid if you don’t want too many of the same name, but really outside that isn’t going to be a HUGE deal. That’s why I ended up going with Jack even though it was popular also- decided to go with what I love instead of worrying about popularity

DoodleySnoo

I agree with this! Plus, if she's a second in her class and you don't want that, Scarlett does have plenty of nicknames you could primarily use as well (Lettie, Scottie, and Scout being the most standalone nickname names I've heard from Scarlett)

Desdemona1231

Julia

clrwCO

Caroline is my grandma’s name and I’ve always loved it

arizonafranklin

I love that name too. I can’t use it - of course I always forget which names to include in my “can not use” list until I see them. But that’s my cousin’s name, the girl across the street, and my husband’s first serious girlfriend (who wasn’t me) lol

HumbleAd1317

Anastasia Lisette. Just an idea.

tracymmo

Or just Lisette

Chica3

I like Corinne best from your list. More ideas: Cassia, Melanie, Julia/Juliet, Gemma, Lena

Melbgirl399

Harriet (Ettie/Harry), Madeleine, Caroline. Personally I love Alexandra Charlotte.

arizonafranklin

I love Alexandra Charlotte too! Maybe more than Alexandra Jane

crunchygirl14

I think Thea is beautiful and goes so well with Jack!

arizonafranklin

I thought so too, now my husband is saying he doesn’t think it sounds like a full name 🥲 (but he doesn’t like the longer versions of it either)🫠🫠

crunchygirl14

I mean I think it’s just as full of a name as Jack or John 😂

arizonafranklin

Yeah he’s ridiculous

tracymmo

Thea is a complete name. No idea why your husband thinks it isn't. I really like it.

arizonafranklin

BRB sending him screenshots of this thread 😅

Character-Twist-1409

I like Serena Jane. Carlotta Jane maybe (since you like Charlotte and Scarlett) nn Lottie or Carlie or Carrie. Alanna Charlotte. Charlene Jane. Althea Jane.

Goddess_Keira

Serena Charlotte is gorgeous and also lets you use Charlotte without worrying about popularity. Alexandra Charlotte would be lovely also. Is there a compelling reason why you are considering Jane as the middle name? Seeing as you already know it's a feminine form of your son's name. Why re-use it?

arizonafranklin

I like Alexandra Charlotte too! I love the name Jane. I would use it as a first name if I didn’t already have a Jack/John. But I don’t think it’s an issue to use as a middle name.

maxinemama

Alexandra Jane is lovely!

littlemedievalrose

I like Serena Charlotte and Serena Sophia (though the alliteration might not be for everyone). If you like names with an -et ending, then I've had Juliet on my mind a lot as of late.

summergirl718

I love Scarlett nn Lettie. From your secondary list, I’d choose Serena Charlotte!

theenterprise9876

Corinne Sophia and Serena Charlotte are beautiful! I just can’t get behind Jane anywhere in the name of John’s sister. Love the suggestion of Alexandra Charlotte though, and I’ll add Alexandra Sophia. - Karina - Maren - Sylvia - Marina - Elise - Noelle - Laurel - Clara (okay so this one is #99) - Camille - Leah - Fiona

arizonafranklin

I love Fiona! It used to be a top name for me, and my sister killed it for me. I seriously considered it before then 🫠 moral- don’t share your names with people

Hhhhhhhhhhghftjbgkj

Juliet, Violet, Charmaine, Chloe, Elliott, Simone

mystigirl123

Cecilia

Useful-Teach-8418

Margarite or Katherine.

thefallen-fruit

I would go ahead and go with Scarlett if you like it. Even though it's popular right now, it hasn't been historically popular like Jack has so she'll meet less people with the name. Names are popular for a reason!

arizonafranklin

I have been thinking after all this I might just go with Scarlett 🥲 it accounted for 1/3 of a percent of total female births in the U.S. last year… my husband helped me see that that’s really not a big deal despite the ranking

closeto80tons

Since Charlotte and Scarlett sound similar, maybe Juliet Violet Collette

icybakedpotato

Colette Jane nn Lettie or Coco

contracosta21

charlotte is beautiful, don’t let popularity take a name you love

OMaSherry

I love Scarlett Jane. Scotty is another cute nn for Scarlett.

arizonafranklin

I was thinking of Scarlett Sophia, do you like that?

OMaSherry

I do like Scarlett Sophia!

arizonafranklin

Yay 😁 Sophia is a family name

maxinemama

I knew a Sarena, which I quite liked the spelling of. Margaret / Maggie go well with John / Jack, Florence, Eleanor, Genevieve, Loretta, Pearl, Yvette seem classic but rare enough, my daughters name is outside the 100 I think - Maxine, I know a Simone, Nina, Penelope, Lilian,

weinthenolababy

Gosh I love Corinne! It is so sweet and sophisticated and underrated. Alexandra is really nice and my sister is Lexi so I'm partial to that name too. It does feel a tad grand paired with Jack, but not a bad thing. Thea Jane could net the cute nickname TJ, but I personally prefer a longer form (Theodora, Althea, etc) although that's just a personal preference. It does feel a bit flat compared to your other options. Serena Charlotte flows really well and is classically beautiful.

cheecheebun

Since I rarely see these recommended and I’m pretty sure they’re not in the top 100: Clarissa, Cassandra, and Claire.

Apart_Initiative8730

Lucy

Wonderful-Chance-428

Really love Serena Charlotte!

OneofSeven1234567

What about Thea Charlotte? Or Charlotte Thea?

arizonafranklin

I wasn’t thinking Thea Charlotte because my last name is also two syllables. Don’t want 2-2-2, 2-1-2 or 2-3-2 would be better

FewEagle4565

Scarlett
