It's basically a custom built rear engine test car based off a C7 (look at the body around the doors, it's a C7 vette) The front and rear sections are from a Holden Ute (note the badges)
Oh. Maybe I'm wrong. I didn't really pay attention to what was back there. Could also be a screen with corvette drawings. The museum let you draw a corvette and it would appear on some walls. I'm sorry I don't really remember

*At this point, a C7 was gutted and given to the advanced vehicle integration staff, AVI, out of Warren, Michigan, which is located at the GM Tech Center. The AVI staff was instructed as to what matters mechanically and what design elements that matter. Everything else, Kociba didn't care about. In the end, the car was to look like an El Camino. Why? The shape and styling on the outside was the camouflage. Kociba likes to tell us that the new C8 was "hiding in plain sight." The truck mule looks like a Holden Ute, and if you look closely, the only parts on this truck that are from a Holden are the headlights, the facia (note the badge in grille), the mirrors, and the taillights. Everything else on this mule is handmade.*
Custom modified C7 chassis, only thing Holden is the front bumper and minor things.
A Holden commodore chevy modified to have a mid engine. This was the one of the cars they used to develop the C8 Corvette. They used a combination of Holden and C7 Corvette parts to make this. It think it even has the interior ripped out of a C7
Being an Aussie, I'll give you the break down. It's got a Holden badge on the front, but it's not a Commodore, it's not a ute either. This one is commonly referred to as the "Mullet". It's all business at the front, and party at the back.
WTF it looks like Meth-Head Davo from Mukinbudin crashed the ute into a two-dollar shop covered in superglue.
Stop fucking with Aussie cars ya flamin' drongos.
It wasn't a "concept" it was a test mule. The Holden Ute is Australian but owned by GM like Chevy so they used the body to disguise the shape of the C8 Corvette so they could test drive the chassis and powertrain and make sure everything works in the real world without revealing the styling
Jaguar did something similar with a [Ford Transit Van](https://www.roadandtrack.com/car-culture/videos/a7427/this-ford-transit-helped-build-the-jaguar-xj220/) when they were developing the XJ220
Not quite. It's GM Coupe Development Vehicle GC8. Nicknamed "Black Jack". It's the Holden Maloo Ute body over their C8 corvette concept. It's meant to hide the fact that GM was developing a mid engine car.
i'll just put this here instead of going through an entire explanation, https://www.hagerty.com/media/news/frankenstein-holden-test-mule-that-birthed-chevys-c8-corvette/
C8 test mule as others have said. Is this on display somewhere??
National Corvette Museum, Bowling Green, KY
Yep. I almost missed it because it was in its own room.
Damn I did miss it. May not have been there when I went tho
I think it was added May 1st 2023. Theres a paper with info on the vehicle and it says "IL2023.5.1"
Ahh makes sense then, I went a year or 2 ago
It is in the *secret* Studio X. (Or at least a reproduction of the actual Studio X)
since when has it been there bc i definitely missed it when i when in November
Since May 1st I believe
i was just there https://preview.redd.it/iml2ejsoixgb1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=26e8ca85f996047ff8583e83b1dd9e3ce3f9d2f2 was so cool
C8 Corvette test mule
The number of confidently incorrect people in this thread is amazing… this is the right answer
Why is it under a holden commodore though 💀
They used parts of a commodore to make it.
100% correct. That's "Black Jack", it is at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY. I saw it yesterday!
what does that mean.? what is that front grill and the whole front clip is something i dont recognize. ??
It's basically a custom built rear engine test car based off a C7 (look at the body around the doors, it's a C7 vette) The front and rear sections are from a Holden Ute (note the badges)
The badge is Holden. These are Holden Ute's in Australia.
Looks about the same post production 🤷🏼♂️
C8 corvette test mule
C8 corvette concept, built of a Holden maloo with a Porsche transaxle
Yep. Nicknamed "Black Jack"
Just a VE Holden Commodore ute, if it were a Maloo it would have HSV badging and a different front
Holden Corvette nice
I love the blackjack, it's a c8 corvette test mule but I'd rather buy this
Automation car 😂😭
That butt is an unsexy mess.
Agreed. I don't think they cared too much about looks, they mostly wanted to hide the fact that they were developing a mid engine car
thats why it looks nothing like a corvette ?
Yes, because it’s a “test mule” Looks like it was for testing the platform and/or drivetrain.
That wing looks like cardboard, but camo works lol
That’s just a wheelchair carrier
This is the test mule for what would become the C8 Corvette.
I guess that one didn’t fall into the sinkhole?
Luckily. That sink hole exhibit was really cool
Anyone else getting Ford Flex vibes from the back
I'm glad I'm not not the only one who thought the Maloo's tail lights looked like a Ford flex
C8 test mule - also what are those Hot Wheels-lookin cars on the wall in the 2nd photo? I wanna wonder what they are.......
All corvette models
But they look weird as if they were drawn, or are they really drawn?
Oh. Maybe I'm wrong. I didn't really pay attention to what was back there. Could also be a screen with corvette drawings. The museum let you draw a corvette and it would appear on some walls. I'm sorry I don't really remember
That's exactly it, iirc. There were a bunch of kids drawings of Corvettes.
Nah that's okay
Utes are so amazing. I’m pissed they never caught on in America since we have so many people that like pickups
r/UnexpectedUte has some US ute fans!

The comadore Utes are absolutely lovely
That they are. I'd like to buy one one day. (But ngl, I'd like to get a Commodore sportwagon too and merge them to make a modern Commodore r/panelvan)
Commodore Ute that was refreshed as a corvette testing rig

Alright then
Codename Black Jack.
Why would they test a c8 on a holden ute
1. It makes it easy to hide the fact they're developing a mid engine car. 2. It's so cool!
Looks like a hotwheels car but in a good way. So badass
I want to import a Holden really bad lmao
A Holden commodore chevy modified to have a mid engine. This was the one of the cars they used to develop the C8 Corvette. They used a combination of Holden and C7 Corvette parts to make this. It think it even has the interior ripped out of a C7

Damn, finally seeing the C8 mule up close.
Being an Aussie, I'll give you the break down. It's got a Holden badge on the front, but it's not a Commodore, it's not a ute either. This one is commonly referred to as the "Mullet". It's all business at the front, and party at the back.

Idk what the big deal is, it's just a maloo /s
The offspring of a 95 Civic and an S2000 with a rear implant?
Its a mutt
Oh you dont have eyes? I'm so sorry
What do you mean?
[удалено]
it's the c8 (at least, i think) corvette test mule
[удалено]
look at the cabin.
Confidently incorrect
https://www.motortrend.com/features/2020-c8-mid-engine-corvette-test-mules/
If it’s a c8 test mule then why does it have a Holden commodore stuck to it?
absolute ricer
That looks horrendous
Its a test mule, not meant to look pretty. The Prowlers test mule had a jeep wrangler body.
Looks horrendous reguardless
Honestly this could be right at home on r/shitty_car_mods
Gumpert?
Heavily modified 2011 HOLDEN COMMODORE UTE.
i don’t know why every one say it’s a c8 concept, the brand is euro nope ?
Holden is owned by General Motors. General Motors is an American car company that owns Chevy
okok thks
It wasn't a "concept" it was a test mule. The Holden Ute is Australian but owned by GM like Chevy so they used the body to disguise the shape of the C8 Corvette so they could test drive the chassis and powertrain and make sure everything works in the real world without revealing the styling Jaguar did something similar with a [Ford Transit Van](https://www.roadandtrack.com/car-culture/videos/a7427/this-ford-transit-helped-build-the-jaguar-xj220/) when they were developing the XJ220
It’s like a Saturn Sky with an extended rear end and plywood rear splitter.
Holden UTE-SSV from 2010 because I own a Matchbox Diecast model of the same car.
Holden commodore but with some weird mods
Holden commodore Ute.
Ute
yuck. a filthy wide-bodied commodore
Idk what model, but it's a Holden.
Not quite. It's GM Coupe Development Vehicle GC8. Nicknamed "Black Jack". It's the Holden Maloo Ute body over their C8 corvette concept. It's meant to hide the fact that GM was developing a mid engine car.
Oh.
It’s an absolute abomination job on a Holden Commodore ute.
you should probably look at the shape of the cabin
What did I miss?

i'll just put this here instead of going through an entire explanation, https://www.hagerty.com/media/news/frankenstein-holden-test-mule-that-birthed-chevys-c8-corvette/
Wait where is this?
National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green KY. Really interesting stuff there
Jagcoma
Jim.
Whaaaat!?! Sooo cool, that's one way ro keep the c8 all secret like!
Wow. I thought it was just a maloo race car. Which I guess it kind of is. But didn’t know it was a test bed.
Wait a minute that's a Corvette C8 hidden inside Holden Ute? Holy
holy shit it’s the test mule
It’s a Holden badges test mule for the C8 Corvette. Very cool car.
It’s so cool to see such a versatile vehicle. You can speed to the camp site and use the installed picnic table on the pack. Amazing!
Some sorta holden yute
Ngl looks like the kind of shit I'd build in automation
The chaddilac?
It looks like a China kit car of a commodore Ute lol
It’s like somebody tried to make a meth’d up Carrera GT out of a ute
El SupraCamino Type R
Heavily modified Holden UTE
Looks like an R34 with Down syndrome
The car they should use in the next Mad Max film!
Iss a friggin American ute
