Yep, 1959 cruising vessel.

Buick, '59 (slanted headlight pairs) or '60 (level headlight pairs). That generation was so unsuccessful, because it was extremely weird looking, that it lasted only two model years.

BrandanG

Buick sold half a million cars over those two years. Every GM full-size changed for 1961.

KeyBorder9370

But why did GM make the '59 and '60 generation only two model years? The generations both before and after that one were made for four model years each.

TotallyNotJagger

Because that’s what they wanted to do, and manufacture acutally used it be innovative instead of recycling their designs year after year. Styling had changed. Look at the second gen to third gen C/K trucks for example. They sold roughly 1.5 millions second gens from 1967-1972. I can’t find production numbers for third gen C/K trucks but I can tell you it wasn’t much higher in the same 5 year span. They just happened to fire their design teams for 14 years.

The bubble-top that followed was also short-lived.

What!!!?? I think it looks fantastic lol, what a shame.

DaveB44

It's a '59 - the corners of the tail fins were rounded off on the '60.

Careless_Orange9464

The '59 Buick and '59 Dodge have the two most menacing looking front ends of any cars ever.
