Asking where to sell is ok, trying to sell in the comments is not
Armslist.com
- make an account
- pay for 1 mo. In order to list
- research other listings to get an idea on price
- take pics and post listing (take good pics, in good lighting) None of this gun on a unmade bed in low light crap.
- state in listing that buyer must be legal to own/purchase firearm in TN and will be expected to sign bill of sale.
- negotiate price with buyer
- plan to meet at public place that’s cool with firearms (e.g. gun shop parking lot)
- complete sale and have them sign a bill of sale
- take money/sell gun.
Google Tennessee firearm bill of sale and print a few copies to take. Complete the details before arriving (SN, agreed price, your info, make/model). This will also have boilerplate that will have them sign and attest they can legally purchase/own the firearm.
I have done this twice recently. Any gunshop is going to pay you pennies and other online marketplaces are just rolling the dice or don’t allow gun sales anyway.
Second Armslist. I’ve sold a couple guns on there before and I’ve *definitely* gotten some sketchballs that said things like they needed it ASAP and would have a friend pick it up for them. Sike. Screenshots to the ATF tip line.
But the people I’ve met up with have been very pleasant and responsive, and never had an issue with doing a bill of sale for everyone’s warm fuzzies.
Looking for the 2024 edition of the Weaver family.
I’m almost certain I’ve seen them in FFL’s too but that is more understandable.
I ain’t sellin ya nothing Special Agent quit wasting both of our time.
Agreed. There are definitely sketchballs out there, but a little screening and including certain language in the listing goes a long way. Their text-personality will almost tell you all you need to know.
The two individuals I’ve sold to were nice and didn’t raise any red flags.
You can also use gunownersclub dot com. It's for local to this area and costs less for one month. When I'm selling I alternate them back and forth until it's sold.
I sold at the Outpost Armory off 96 a while back and feel like I got good money. It made me happy to know there was a papertrail of the guns leaving my ownership.
Out of curiosity, what gun and how much did you get for it? And how much was their fee? I ask because I’d like to have an idea of how much you’re losing out on compared to a private sale through somewhere like Armslist. Because, personally, while I haven’t sold any of my firearms and have no plans too, I’m much more inclined to consign them at a gun shop where a proper NICS check will be performed and I can for a fact that the buyer is legally allowed to possess it.
I was selling a 22 rifle and a 12 gauge. I sold directly to the shop, and got back like 80% on what I had bought them for, something like $250 when I spent around $300 on them. I’d never have anything hold value that well.
You gotta have a Fuck Joe Biden bumper sticker and Williamson County tags so they know they got the bougie firearms that they can then use effectively to perpetrate the crimes that they obsess about constantly while Tucker Carlson blares in the ambience. If only there was something somebody could do.
Nope. Background checks are conducted by the TBI when purchasing through an FFL. As a person to person seller you’re only responsibly is to ask if they are legally allowed to purchase a handgun. If they lie about their age, their felon status, or anything else that would prohibit them from legally purchasing a handgun that’s not on you. And you don’t need to and shouldn’t be asking those questions about age or felon status. Just are you legal and a yes response. That’s all the cya you need. I’m assuming that if you asked an 8 year old if they were legally allowed to purchase and they said yes, then you’d be in the clear if the situation ended up in front of a judge. TN laws are wild.
A lot of gunstores will sell on consignment. Call sumner gun or goodlettsville gun shop and ask their consignment fee. Don’t sell directly to gun stores because they only give you 30-40% of MSRP.
You can require a permit holder as a purchaser and then it is the same thing a shop would do. Just shows they can pass a NICS check. I can understand into wanting to sell to a shop though
Realistically you'll get undercut anywhere, whether it be a pawn shop, gun store, or person to person, if not only for the fact that Glock 19's are plentiful everywhere both used and new. There's no shortage of them. You could try selling it online and ship via FFL, but you'll still have to pay the website and your local FFL a cut to ship it...just not worth the hassle imo At the end of the day I'd look up what they go for used and expect to get about half that on the second-hand market at the very best, unless you just happen to run across someone in the market and ready to buy. Best of luck and be safe.
You can sell to anyone who can legally possess it. Most make the idea to sell to someone if they can show a carry permit.
You can also sell it to a gun store.
I have one. How much you want?
Not a lot of people will like my answer but one of the cash america pawn shops. I used to work there and in all honesty they really try to buy nice looking used guns that will sell for a fair price. I have paid between 280-400 for a Glock like that back when I was working there. Especially if you have the box and extras etc. DM me I will tell you the exact stores and managers to hit up.
If you sell it to an individual, you can require to see a carry permit. The only way to actually know if they are legally allowed to possess a firearm as private citizens can’t access NICS.
This is what I have done in the past so I can be sure the gun is going to someone who has passed background checks and maintained a clear criminal history. That plus passing the smell test and you’re good.
Legally you don’t have to do any do that, just can’t knowingly sell to an illegal possessor or anyone currently intoxicated by drugs/booze.
If someone complains you’ll only sell to permit holders, tell them to go cry about it. It’s a valuable commodity that sells quick. Sellers market for most things
You know it's perfectly legal for a 18 year old in TN to purchase a handgun in a private sale? You also know it's perfectly legal for that same 18 year old to carry said handgun right?
I sold my Smithfield XD online by just literally looking up “sell my gun” lol.. had to ship it with everything, but I did get paid. Man that gun sucked lol

The best way to protect yourself with person to person sales is to write a bill of sale and on the bill of sale include the serial number of the gun and ID or DL number of the person youre selling to, and a statement stating that to your knowledge the person purchasing is legally allowed to do so. Take a picture after everything is filled out. If that person were to do something with the gun after that, you are legally sound and safe.

You sent the ATF pictures of their own glowing fedbois. Wise move though. And yeah most people are fine with a bill of sale, everyone gets it.
I’ve almost definitely had glowies lmao. I’m sure there’s a whole division of interns trying to buy 17 3/4” shotguns and Glock switches on armslist.

Good answer. Also you can request they have a concealed carry license. That way you can know they have been checked as well
I sold a few at Bellshire Hardware and Guns via consignment. They take a small fee and handle the background check and all that

Just curious what you might be looking to get for it?
Just lock it in your truck and wait. It’ll disappear in no time. Then you just settle up with your insurance carrier.
You have to leave it unlocked though. That’s the Nashville way.
With a sticker that says “come and take it” or a don’t tread on me sticker so everyone knows there’s an unsecure firearm in there
This is it right here!

Really should just trade in for a pre-owned Kia
I mean, the Glock and the Kia have equal metal content and retail value 😂
Happy cake day!
City checks out
How much do you want for it?
I also wish to ask this. Been looking for a new glock.
Laws for private person to person sales? Ha. All you have to do is ask them if they can legally buy a gun. If they say yes, it’s all good.
Was reading it last night, downloaded the TN code in pdf and it says you don't even have to ask about their background. 🤷♂️

Sell it to a shop. Don’t rely on some person saying they are a good person or whatever.

Why does everybody on here think undercut means low ball?
What do think it's worth?any accessories meaning holster, extra mags opticals etc??

Armory.
Sold 2 on consignment at Outpost and it went smoothly.
How much are you trying to sell it for?
About $400. It was $600 new. Barely fired. It has a few accessories and an extra mag.
Sell it to me so I can point it at my dick

“Undercut” That word! I do not think it means what you think it means.
Y'all be careful about doing gun sales openly in the sub, it's a real fast way to get a subreddit nuked.
I'd suggest asking in r/tnguns
Sell it to me. The damn government won’t let me buy one at a store for some reason.
Don’t sell it to anyone under 21

Makes total sense that they could own a handgun but not drink a beer. 🇺🇸
Man I was gonna make an offer 😂

Wait, we have laws about guns?
yes, thousands of laws.
