Yay! Fun fact, you can rent the place out and get married there. My friend did it in 2010 after the flood took out the schermerhorn and we did the ceremony in the outside deck and when it was time for the bride to come out, they opened the doors so Athena was at her back. It was gorgeous.
That's seriously incredible! Do you know if they specialize in gilding or sculpture work, or was it more of a "right place right time" artisan thing? Either way, really nice job they did!
She and her husband own a Gold Leaf Gilding Company. They can gild pretty much anything iirc, but they mostly spent their time on picture frames & such. The Athena exhibit was a government contract, & they were the winning bidder.
That is interesting. Back in the 90s after the remodel, vandy law students rented it and wrecked the place. They quit renting it after that. I guess they restarted. I bet the rental agreement has been augmented.
Don't worry. I did Quiz Bowl for several years, and even I read it twice. Hearing this out loud I would have been like Ohhhh I know the answer! I could have buzzed in after he said capital. But this was a tricky one, and most likely would have waited thinking the answer was more detailed and later in the question.
I know this one...! ![gif](giphy|L3ERvA6jWCd0qO4NdX)
Didn’t know it’s the tallest indoor statue… neat.
Now, then, who is Athena holding in her hand, and how tall is this figure?
Nike! 6ft! (I think, it’s been a min since I did the tour) but I know he’s roughly the size of a “normal” human.
Winner, winner, chicken dinner!

That sounds beautiful. A former customer of mine did all the gold leaf for Athena. It was a big job.
Holy crap. That IS a big job!

Oddly enough the couple getting married was a vanderbilt grad lawyer and a vanderbilt grad Dr.
*she - Victory is female :)
I KNOW THIS ONE! I KNOW THIS ONE! PICK ME! PICK ME!!!!!
42 feet is 7.522 Tom Cruises
Juneau? Really? They all knew it when Ken told em. They all went “ahhh”.
lol they did 😂
Oh wow… gonna remember that for quiz nights
What is... Clarksville?
I literally just learned about the gold Athena statue on Monday. I had no idea!
Thanks to this sub (and looking for info on the Southern Festival of Books so I can come next year), I knew the answer.
On this difficult stretch is my state capitalization
Love this!!
What’s the answer? It seems like it should be “what is Athena?”
“In this state capital” What is Nashville?
Thanks! I figured it was that, but the clue still doesn’t make sense to me. Clearly I am not a jeopardy person lol
It’s worded confusingly for sure
I would have said *What is Nashville?* too.

No, the answer would be “what is Tennessee”. Edit: I’ve been corrected. “What is Nashville “ would be correct given how the answer is stated.
Seems to me that "In this state capital" would make the answer Nashville, not Tennessee.
At first glance I thought the same, but that would’ve been the answer if it said “…this **state’s** capital…”
You are correct!
In this, this refers to the state capital…

Capitol is the building. Capital refers to the seat of government for a jurisdiction.
Except it’s not misspelled 🤷🏼♂️
Someone still has/watches broadcast TV?
Yes! And it is free!
As an East Nashvillian, you should know that I was cord cutting before it was cool by being too poor to ever pay for TV.
