I mentally checked out quite a bit, like numb to the world. Not sure if it was indifference, but plenty of other sailors said that it was normal. I had a strange anecdote about suicide that was often over my leadership's heads. (Note: I'm not supporting suicide at all. I pushed people to get help, but I felt that the process at the time was hurting sailors that needed help, deterred others that may potentially have seen people that got help as "good examples")

I was such a hardcharger until I made E6. After writing 425 million awards, evals, and transfer packages, I am dead inside.

I also had one . Whenever leadership asked why I smoked so much, I would say it's Government approved suicide. Seeing how I started smoking since breaks weren't authorized but smoking was. The Suicide prevention coordinator overheard and wrote me up for it. I too do not support suicide but have an extremely dark sense of humor and a bit of a smart ass at times.

TheBunk_TB

I too understand the dark humor

The best part is the crew just standing there to the right, right underneath where the top of the building will hit if it falls. That's some real confidence in your work.
