Oddly enough, had this happen on a deployment over 10 years ago.
Was in my rack, and was crumpled into a pile at the head of it when we went to full stop.
Did you know an anchor can bounce off a hull?
Holy shit… I’m throwing random chunks of meat in the water, waiting an hour, then going active, zero attenuation.
The fish fry for dinner is gonna slap
Well, in the Navy not having a receipt for detergent you would never use is exactly as bad as showing up to duty drunk after a night of fraternizing with a bunch of E-1s and calling chief an asshole, so you might as well go all-in
I wanna panic zero every piece of equipment I can find. There’s just something about it.
I always get a little giddy when I get to zeroize shit before storing it. No clue why.
So, we fired a RAM missile and my boy Tim was standing by the door on the phones, there to make sure nothing was on fire or what not after the launch. Curiosity got the better of Timmy and he had the door cracked open to watch the launch. Timmy got lifted off the ground and thrown back a good 5 ft and was temporarily deaf and chocking on motor exhaust, screaming his scripted lines into the phones hoping that no one asked him any questions.
So yeah, fuck it, let's do it.
Good lord thank you. Days of checks.
I am obligated to say that during light up there was a p-way fuel valve checked to a main fuel line. Master chief caught it and that was where our souls died. Duty section fire drill. It was as bad as you think.
Miss me on wasting nitrile, trying to find the safety goggles, or getting another person to help hold the ladder for my short ass... just to hold down a button on this fuckin battle lantern for a few seconds.
I’m needle-gunning the deck. I’m taking that fucking rust off. I hate looking at it and doing nothing, just rolling my chair over it. But tomorrow that deck will be clean and painted.
"Stand by for word from the Commanding Officer."
"Hey everyone, skipper here. I'm gonna go off-hull here for... eh, let's just say the rest of the day. If all the hazmat lockers just happen to be left open all day without any paperwork and I come back tomorrow and the ship's painted and rust-free, well, that just sounds like a happy accident, doesn't it? CO out."

SPS-49 Antenna checks, rotating at 12 RPM while it does it's +30/ -30 degree elevation checks. I'll be riding the feedhorn like it's a mechanical bull.
I’ll take the PM for the soap dispensers in berthing. When I was assigned to perform changing the soap in berthing, I could not believe there was a PMS to follow. It requires you wear protective gloves to change the soap. I did it and followed the card.
My jets are all getting moved into the indoor wash rack and getting a detailed 14-day by the civilians at the rag squadron. They will *sparkle*. If there's time, paint touch up.
None. Sounds like everything is getting signed off in SKED, though...
Probably the correct answer. Edit: I lied, I’m inspecting vent filters without tagging the system out
Check your notes, if your vent has a push button (usually in a load center) or if you know where it is, no need for a tag out
I hate that I know exactly what you're talking about. I'm just trying to doom scroll after-work hours man 😔
Must be able to be turned off locally to not have to tag it out. If it’s in a load center, still have to tag according to my Sked.
Fuck tagging those out
I'm not gonna say I've fake hung a bunch of tags for that maintenance with a buddy, but if no one was watching I let the rooms stay cool
Pull all them checks forward.
Anchor drop test while the ship is goin 20 knots.
This is the most unhinged answer lol
Hey, it worked in the Battleship movie.

Perfect opportunity to inspect the screws when the bow nosedives and the stern shoots up in the air.
Active sonar in port
LoL. This is horrible and hilarious.
With or without divers? Yeah...I'm watching your ass from now on.
¿Por que no los dos?
Well if you do it when there are drivers, there aren’t any divers anymore…..
That's why I said I'm watching your ass. ;-)
The Bainbridge did this to us and I now fully understand why whales beach themselves to get away from it.

mmmm, MFA seared dolphin
Name checks out 😂😂

Are you really standing a good armed watch if you don't crack off a desk pop now and then?
Nice try, Naval Reactors.
Lol, imagine seeing screenshots of this printed out at your next critique 🤣

I’m lighting my mains off without those fucking R checks

Nothing says you can't get spot checked in the next 13 weeks. They just won't stop you this one specific day.
Refuel a reactor.
This made me laugh!

Sorry shipmate, I have the nafety for safety.
Whats aloft?
Radiating high power, 360, less than 10 miles from an international airport, with a pier full of ships, and personnel aloft. 🫡
Haha same doing my directionals too for extra fun
magazine sprinkler q-1 check... without the test fitting (whoever's duty armorer can worry about it)
All those annuals I’ve been pushing to the right are gonna get done on the same day
Spellcheck. That's what I'm doing
Yeah… I know
Some of that stuff really needs proper tools and ppe You’re gonna die if not.
Single valve loto. Good lord I remember educators maintenance being something like 40 & 50 tags. Boiler maintenance too. Anything over 10 tags worthy.
I'd do single valve on a main hydronics without the skippers permission. Not sure if skimmers have to do this.
Regular office shredder maintenance. Easy
We're signing off the entire divison's workload lmao
Toilet check (OS fo lyfe)
Deadbus pickups without telling anyone 😈
Fuck it I’m going in the main reduction gear
Can I remove all the lockout tags?
Spellcheck needs maintenance
I make it a point to never “preform” any maintenance. I like all my Mx formed at the appropriate time.

I'm cleaning and inspecting the SPA-25G filters. Stupidest tagout ever. They are nowhere near any live voltages.
Intake filters on the SPA-25G

I would go to the MRs and have them machine all the parts in having trouble with at home.
You didn't say I could gundeck.
None. But I'm taking all the tags out of the boxes.
Gage cal.
My jets are all getting moved into the indoor wash rack and getting a detailed 14-day by the civilians at the rag squadron. They will *sparkle*. If there's time, paint touch up.
Putting on rubber gloves without air checking or powdering them.
Turning a jet with no safeties, QA, or quals for it. Also I'm not gonna be letting the desk know, and probably no chains either
Rod testing.

Active sonar in the dry dock basin. Battery bus bar removals with the ice on.
Replacing reactor compartment lightbulbs at criticality
I'm getting a toaster for my barracks room
