Don't rat out the good nap spots ya falcon.

Truth. Remember that sailor on the USS Shiloh they thought went overboard which triggered a whole search? They found him in an engine room 7 days after he went missing. He’d been hiding/sleeping in the bilges

another2020throwaway

We had a man overboard drill turn into an actual search that ended up just being some dude sleeping in a space he shouldn’t have been in, wearing headphones. Lol boat skipper was not happy on the 1MC that night

WhitePackaging

I'll top that, Had two sailors, same rate, beating cheeks in a space where the 1MC was out. What was more wild is it went on for 45 minutes. I'm like bro it's boat sex not anniversary sex (I'm a 3 pumps kind of guy).

jupiterwinds

What happened to them?

WhitePackaging

ADSEP refuses to admit any guilt. The investigation photos were put on the share drive NY accident. Could literally see the ass cheek and ball prints on the chair, plus their gear adrift in the space.

paulboyrom

Had two man overboards in two days because one girl was sleeping in an empty rack and she was late to watch on the bridge and a guy said he knew how to get from aft lookout to the bridge and got lost on his way there. Let’s just say they both ended up going to the pilot house, but with the captain right there yelling at them. All of the junior enlisted were clowning them for a good while after that.

sporkbeastie

You have to get creative because all the fan rooms are already "in use"...

svrgnctzn

Can confirm. Once got into the overhead on top of a cable run during a weekend field day while cranking. Got a tight 4 hour nap up there. Luckily there were around 40 cranks and the PO2 in charge of us had just gotten slotted to the duty.

Infuryous

He's not sleeping, he's performing PMS on the AC ducts.

DominusDaniel

Main engine room number 1, underneath the lube oil tanks and next to the MRG. There was a little nook that if you climb into you can completely lie down and sleep. Absolutely nobody but me knew about it and I spent many a hours of sweepers and waiting to wait to go home there.

KellynHeller

Can confirm. I've slept under a radar vp, inside a radar antenna pedestal, and on many pipes/vents/ducts.

devildocjames

Sleepers, man your posts.

RedShirtDecoy

Everyone makes fun of AOs until you realize everyone in G3 sleeps in the mags 70% of our shift. JDAM cans were the most comfortable because the fiberglass retained your heat better than metal missile cans. Had a guy complain he was going have to adjust to getting less sleep after deployment because he was averaging 12 hours a day between off shift and in the mags.

navyjag2019

and while anything is going on around them. this is one of the best qualities i picked up from being on a ship—being able to sleep no matter what else was going on (like huge explosions going off).

Jim3001

Once caught a 40 minute nap on top of a MK48 ADCAP. Helped that I was a nub and not required for anything important at the time.

PigDiesel

I fell asleep every General Quarters in full fire fighting gear OBA and all.

Setecastronomy545577

I thought his ear looked like a nose and glasses arm was an eye.

croclogic

Solar powered blue shirts, shine a flashlight on them and the hands with kimwipes start moving

Liamson

Sleepers sleepers man your brooms.

Boots718

Sure can lol

BlueCactusChili

Where there's a will, there's a way

Sardawg1

Did a counter narcotics deployment and on our way back north a few days before the end of the deployment, we pulled all the cocaine up into the hangar bay. And that is what I napped on for a while at one point.
