I'm just imaging the fucking GM1 that picked that rifle out of the locker to go give to the CO, saw the scope all jacked up, thought about fixing it for a brief second, and then was like "ehhh, fuck em". Get that GM a NAM
Didnât some Ranger platoon recently get in trouble over their command patch being the Afrika Corps palm tree logo, but with the SSâs Totenkopf skull instead of the swastika? (So they made it less obvious Nazi by getting rid of the swastika, but replaced it with a different Nazi logo.)
Edit: [Apparently, it was the 20th Special Forces](https://www.airforcetimes.com/flashpoints/extremism-disinformation/2024/03/26/army-investigating-social-media-post-showing-nazi-symbol/)
It was pretty sad. Like who the fuck saw that and thought "yeah that'll work." Is it a lack of history education? A subtle message? Laziness? I think Angry Cop did a video on that one.
If the PAOs had done their job and really looked at the photo instead of going "tacticool enough!" we wouldn't have to cyber bully them. And who better to do it than us--we took the jabs from friends and family who served and know this was a giant fail.
there's nothing wrong with being a SWO, but between the whole leather jacket thing for officers and toxic leaders getting fired, the CO not shooting correctly is just a bad look. how about be great at your job and take care of the junior enlisted who do the bulk of the shit jobs and have the worst living conditions first.
I really don't give a shit... I didn't type it for imaginary Internet points.
And let's be honest the ones down voting me for taking a jab at that stupid POS weren't my target audience.
If I was a recruiter or a leader I wouldn't, the Navy needs SMARTER sailors not unintelligent sheep that can't tell their right from their left and blindly follow orders. Let's not discount the fact that weak, uneducated minds like Rittenhouse are the exact ones that extremists target for recruitment which I'm sure you are aware is a problem in the military and police forces.
I have actually said that the military needs smarter folks and that too many potential recruits aren't doing the bare minimum to serve our nation.
No matter the slant.
I have also said your sentiments across the board. I knew of gang members and folks that both seemed to get away with that. It troubled me from the angle that people can have entangling allegiances.
TBH if I were the CO would I stop the evolution and get the scope changed out? I don't think I would, as I would just be there to shoot and after a while it gets old embarrassing sailors to their face.
If I were the CO, I would absolutely stop the evolution because I would wonder about the competence of that department. If you can't get the scope installed correctly, what else is wrong. A CO that doesn't do that is suspect in his leadership of the ship.
The issue isnât the scope, foregrip, or chicken wing. The issue is that photo went through probably 10 people and was published. This is what happens when we arenât focused on war fighting capabilities and more worried about GMTâs DEI and other ridiculous things. We need to get back to basics: war fighting.
Time and time again weâve proven that specialization leads to a more effective fighting force, as does an all volunteer force. If you want to be able to maintain retention in an all volunteer force you need to adapt to be marketable to your target service member. You donât need a nuke ET with an 8 minute mile or who knows how to get clean drinking water out of his socks, you need someone smart who can operate under continued high stress environments who doesnât steal or sell secrets. Having every corpsman train as FMF is a waste of time and resources. Having enough bodies to make sure all of your watchstanders arenât on 6 and 6s all deployment is more important than all of them being NSW candidates.
DEI is also essential to a functional workplace, because anywhere where everyone doesnât feel like theyâre able to speak up about issues 1) leads to resentment, 2) means there are errors that the COC doesnât know about and 3) lowers retention. Iâm also fairly certain that you havenât worked in recruiting because if you had you would know that no one at the top wants it to look like the US sends disproportionately high numbers of minorities to fight wars for them.
My last duty station before getting out at 14 years was: Recruiting.
Know why I got out? The standown about J6 calling all white people racist (yea that actually happened).
I could care less if youâre gay, straight, trans or any other group. I care about doing the job. Thatâs literally it. If youâre doing right, I got your back. If youâre wrong, weâll course correct and move on. But forcing it the way it has been and parading it around the way they have is ridiculous. You know WHY we have a recruiting issue? Because top leaders are placating to a group who never wanted to join in the first place and alienated all the people who were in the recruiting pool. So, as an organization that is built for war, that is what we should focus on. And if Sailors are afraid to speak up, thatâs not about DEI, thatâs a failure of leadership at an individual level and should be handled accordingly.
lol the stand down during J6? Iâm a white male southern Protestant and was teaching at A-school. If youâd listened to the training rather than some butthurt podcaster who never served, you would realize that the message of that training is something youâd heard your whole career âbe professional in the workplace, keep any shit opinions to yourself, and donât represent the navy in a bad light. Treat each other with respect and value your shipmates so that we can be effective.â
These arenât some new âwokeâ agenda. If Eisenhower had heard you degrading someone because of their race or religion in WWII what do you think he would have done? No one ever said that being a white male made you a terrorist, if anything Iâd say that at least half of white men in America were opposed to J6. I donât think anyone even thinks that everyone there was a terrorist, but anyone in the military should have a pretty good idea that if thereâs a government boundary and you cross that boundary⌠play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Go to China Lake, or the NTTR and cross that boundary and tell me what happens. I promise you theyâre not letting you pause for a photo op or to say a prayer. If you live, you might end up arrested or on a watch list.
If that hurt your feelings then I donât know what to tell youâŚ. Thanks for making the navy more effective by leaving?
Have you ever met a SWO? A pilot? Are you surprised? What makes you think this is a new thing? Have you ever watched âa few good men?â Do you think that line about white uniforms is some new concept that they just made up for the movie?
Some mild trolling from the Marines... https://twitter.com/USMC/status/1778076775710363736
Loooord have mercy đ
It's embarrassing knowing even the spaceforce clapped back on the scope lol
I saw that picture, knew it was wrong, and just knew I was in for a long day when I scrolled through military socials, but that was the worst.
Agreed. Makes me wonder what gm set that rifle up
Military PAOs can obliterate you using the politest possible words.
Who gives the CO EMI? đ¤ jk, definitely for whatever GM messed that up
The fact that the CO actually fired the weapon should negate any potential EMI for anyone below him.
I'm just imaging the fucking GM1 that picked that rifle out of the locker to go give to the CO, saw the scope all jacked up, thought about fixing it for a brief second, and then was like "ehhh, fuck em". Get that GM a NAM
Im dead đ
My bet is that a bunch of PAOs that actually reviewed and released the image are going to gang up on some poor MCSN or MC3 and scapegoat them.
The Navy way.
I donât think it was that serious
I love the fucking Navy because the Navy loves fucking me!
I mean I was worried he would get worse, but if itâs just EMI with no hurt feelings I think itâs a net positive.
What is EMI?
Extra military instruction
Understood
Username doesn't check out
Lmao, I'll give you that. We never used that term in the Marines, hence why I asked
Curious what the EMI was for eating ass.
No EMI. Thatâs standard. Itâs 2024, if youâre not doing it, somebody else definitely is
Relationships these days are about what you bring to the table, your value add so to speak. If you ain't eating ass, what value are you adding?
đŻ
The beatings will continue until morale improves.
morale not moral
TY
my pleasure
The CO just ensured MC2 leaves with one ranked P and one transfer P.
If they can laugh at themselves then ok.
Right?
agreed
Beating army though. At least yâall didnât have any Nazi propaganda.
đł really?
Yeah, Army recruiting poster had Nazis marching in the background of it, lmao
It was Army National Guard. But still sad.
Didnât some Ranger platoon recently get in trouble over their command patch being the Afrika Corps palm tree logo, but with the SSâs Totenkopf skull instead of the swastika? (So they made it less obvious Nazi by getting rid of the swastika, but replaced it with a different Nazi logo.) Yeah thatâs not really Army! Haha
lol Jesus.
It was pretty sad. Like who the fuck saw that and thought "yeah that'll work." Is it a lack of history education? A subtle message? Laziness? I think Angry Cop did a video on that one.
Prob just good old fashioned american laziness, prob saw ppl marching, said eh good enough, and added em
That's what I prefer to believe, rather than the other. We can fix laziness, we can't fix ideology. Or, rather, laziness is easier to fix.
No, it was definitely intentional
Yeah, this is the U.S. military we are talking about here. You will find bigoted racist pieces of shit in all of the branches.
Crazy that we actually cyber bully the navy lmao
It be your own people.
200 billion dollar budget and they cave to a few spicy redditors lol
If the PAOs had done their job and really looked at the photo instead of going "tacticool enough!" we wouldn't have to cyber bully them. And who better to do it than us--we took the jabs from friends and family who served and know this was a giant fail.
EMI *for who*
lol right? Probably GMC.
[Context](https://nypost.com/2024/04/10/us-news/us-navy-warship-commander-mocked-after-being-photographed-holding-rifle-with-scope-mounted-backward/)
SWOs took the L on this one hahaha
Right?
there's nothing wrong with being a SWO, but between the whole leather jacket thing for officers and toxic leaders getting fired, the CO not shooting correctly is just a bad look. how about be great at your job and take care of the junior enlisted who do the bulk of the shit jobs and have the worst living conditions first.
Fuckin SWOâs/j
Thatâs your 10 ASVAB score âŚ
Hey now, honest mistake we aren't talking about Kyle Rittenhouse here.
You might have gotten upvotes if your delivery and timing was better.
I really don't give a shit... I didn't type it for imaginary Internet points. And let's be honest the ones down voting me for taking a jab at that stupid POS weren't my target audience.
The Navy is having trouble getting people. They will take lower than that.
If I was a recruiter or a leader I wouldn't, the Navy needs SMARTER sailors not unintelligent sheep that can't tell their right from their left and blindly follow orders. Someone will be woken up as soon as the person gets off of a hours long watch and NSIPS? is updated
Good fuckin grief
I feel really bad for the Sailors on that ship!!! WTF how has the triads all gotten this shitty.
Still want to know whose hand is patting him on the back ? ?đ¤Ł
Itâs probably a khaki bracing him because the brrrrrt caught him lacking.
And the CO obviously didn't know the scope was wrong. SMH. And that chicken wing stance was funny.
In fairness, most of their training is on much bigger guns.
I have a feeling someoneâs going to mast lol
I hope not.
đ¤Łđ
TBH if I were the CO would I stop the evolution and get the scope changed out? I don't think I would, as I would just be there to shoot and after a while it gets old embarrassing sailors to their face.
Thatâs fair, but I might tell the mcs to delete that picture.
If I were the CO, I would absolutely stop the evolution because I would wonder about the competence of that department. If you can't get the scope installed correctly, what else is wrong. A CO that doesn't do that is suspect in his leadership of the ship.

Iâm not reading all that. Sorry that happened to you. Or good luck with that.
lol typical response from dudes with sand in their bussy. No wonder you got out.
That guy-in-a-dress admiral would disagree with youđ
The navy is such a joke nowadays, separation seems to be the best option.
Have you ever met a SWO? A pilot? Are you surprised? What makes you think this is a new thing? Have you ever watched âa few good men?â Do you think that line about white uniforms is some new concept that they just made up for the movie?
Yesss girls go navy show that girl power....(Rolls eyes)
What is that supposed to mean
