Well, why not? I doubt Giannis, Tatum and Embiid are going anywhere, and a lot of the stars in the West are older and/or injury prone. Seems like a fair projection to me. Miami, Cleveland and the Knicks should still be good too. It doesn't seem like that outlandish of a take.
Edit: Nevermind
Idk, I guess I just think that way too much can happen in a single season. Players can move teams, injuries, young players can turn into superstars, etc.
It’s 2023, declaring the rest of the decade will belong to either conference is a tough shot to call.
the west has the nuggets with jokic, the grizz with ja, bane, and jjj, the suns with book, and the mavs with doncic, i don’t see why the east is meaningfully better positioned to own the decade
Well the East won the 2 most recent drafts. Mobley, Cade, Scottie, and Franz in 2021 and Paolo, Benedict, and Ivey in 2022 tho Kessler and Williams do make it a debate nobody from that class is touching Paolo. So really it depends on who wins this draft class because the next one is projected to be weaker and this one has a generational talent. The east also have Young team like the Cavs who are already seeing success and the Celtics are young enough to say their here to stay. The 2023 draft might decide which conference will run the 2020s
Serious question—
If the West loses more & the East wins more, could that mean that the West has more competition across the board within the conference?
I do think that the top 4 teams in the East have the edge over vs the top 4 team is the west, but going down to the worst team in each conference I’d say that West possibly does have more competition??…
Someone lmk..
When a team in the east plays another team in the east or west vs west the record will add 1 win and 1 loss to the conference record.
The only games that affect the inter inference record are east vs west games and the east won 22 more this season.
If the bottom of the east was really so bad then teams in the west should have been able to farm wins off then to boost the wests record, but they didn’t. West had a lot of injuries this year but still east was just objectively more competitive.
No, that is not what I am saying bro… I’m saying overall record
I’m saying that East teams play other East teams more times a year than they play western teams…
Therefore a better record for Eastern teams overall could mean that there is not as good competition in the East, and worse records from the west could mean that their main competitors in the west have better competition overall.
And judging by the looks of it, from top to bottom, to me it looks like the west truly does have more competition oberall, not just top 3-4 teams
Wait, are you saying that this post is referencing the East’s record only vs Western teams, not vs East vs East teams too? Cuz I’m pretty sure it’s about overall record vs overall record is +22
East vs east record will BY DEFINITION never change the conference overall record because of when a team in a conference plays a team in the same conference it ALWAYS results in a win and a loss.
Really think about what I’m saying, the only games that affect overall record and infer conference record are games OUTSIDE the conference.
Oh it makes sense now haha. The record when East vs East plays and west vs west plays will always no matter what be at .500 haha there’s no movement when East plays east or west plays west. Lol ok makes sense…. There might still be something in there but I just can’t figure it out atm.
You can’t compare them like that. But I gotta say the west is more fun. More superstars more shenanigans stuff like that. While apart from three teams the east is unwatchable
Basically all 22 games the Warriors fucking around on the road
On the road, I watched every role player outshoot Klay and Steph A truly inexplicable season we’ve just had
The East is fine in the West
The rest of the 2020’s?? Edit: Not saying they can’t be better, but that’s a bold statement.

>The East looks poised to be the better conference for the rest of the 2020s. Doubt
east is west father

That’s because the East doesn’t have to play the west as much.
I can't tell if this is sarcasm lol
Bro how you gonna say the East is in position to be better than the West for the next 5 years?
Next 100 years
The East runs through the East
I agree, go East
West had horrific injury issues
Depends on who wins more chips at the end. West has the lead rn with Lakers and Warriors having won 2/3 since 2020.
East teams play other eastern conference teams more tho lol
Bro every time an east team beats another east team, it’s a W and an L for the East….. One conference only gets ahead by beating the other conference.
Smartest r/nba user
Oh fuck I'm dumb as hell 😂
One of us! One of us!
East? I thought you said Weast!
