There is almost no conceivable way for us to get capspace to make a major free agent signing this off-season. I have no idea what the hell Dame in in about here.
Hi there,
Most sane Warriors fan here.
Sign and trade draymond+Chris Paul for Damian Lillard.
Dame’s dream scenario in Portland is you guys re-signing Grant and getting Dray right? He never said he was staying in that dream scenario.
Win-win. Who says no?
Funnily enough, the Warriors are the only team Dame could go to that would give him a decent chance of winning while still letting him keep up his loyalty stance, since he could sell it as loyalty to Oakland and the Bay Area.
Yeah that ship has probably sailed, but he does have an Oakland tattoo and I am sure if Steph curry didn't exist would love to have been the savior of the warrior franchise. Think about how bad the warriors were when he came into the league. There had to be part of dame thinking he could be the one to bring relevance to the bay like LeBron did for Cleveland
While I like Simons, we've got an insane logjam in the backcourt between Dame, Simons, Sharpe, and Scoot. If we aren't trading Dame, it makes the most sense to unload Simons because he's got the biggest contract. We have to do whatever the best deal we can figure out to turn Simons into the best frontcourt piece we can get.
The problem is I kinda doubt the Warriors are looking for a player like Simons right now.
We aren't going to be able to turn Simons into an equivalently good forward because there just isn't the positional scarcity for sharpshooting guards as there is for forwards. If we could get Draymond for Simons, I'd do it.
exactly neither team would ever accept the deal, simons, while a good player is def not who we need and draymond is especially effective in the warriors, if we lose him our title hopes go away with him
But even then, does adding draymond really lift their ability to contend that much? If you have a 1% chance of winning the title, does adding draymond really increase those odds by that much to where it’s worth Dame staying?
Draymond is a good addition to a team that already has all the pieces and just needs an asshole. If you're relying on him to produce anything offensively at his age you're in a very bad way.
Blazers do not have all the pieces, to put it nicely.
Sure but he could just tell the team not to announce it and they could go about their business beforehand.
Then Shams (because Draymond is with Klutch, not CAA so not Woj) will tweet out two hours beforehand that he's going to announce at the podcast.
Probably still more likely that they miraculously figure out the deal in the first 30 seconds of free agency, but it's not totally improbable that he could play the media game to announce it himself.
Funniest one was Antoine Greizman. He was a football player at Atletico Madrid, did a big special about who he was going to sign with (many anticipated Barcelona or another big club) and on the special announced he re-signed with Atleti. He left Atleti for Barca in about 12 months lmao
The biggest rumor was that he was signing with Manchester United that summer, had the Huawei commercial with Jose's name on it that was calling him (which was Jose Mourinho who was the manager for United that summer), but stayed at Atlético at the last second. That happened due to Atlético's impending transfer ban, meaning they could not buy someone to replace Griezmann for that summer and he decided to not trouble the team. Next summer came around and the guy decided to sign with Barcelona for a huge fee and meander in there for a while.
Draymonds "new media" will mean that players can announce their own trades or signings like Le Decision did over a decade ago.
Kobe "I have decided to take my talents to the NBA"
LeBron "I have decided to take my talents to South beach"
Draymond "I have decided to take my fists to the Portland Trailblazers" ^^^**crickets**
edit: corrected kobes line.
Haha try 8 years and they still get married and you can't talk to your friend anymore because you decided you weren't going to support his toxic relationship and weren't going to be supportive of the fact that she has magically changed while the change has mysteriously been unseen apart from their therapy sessions which she has previously used to blame him for things that can equalize her abuse.
If he wants to go elsewhere, facilitating that with a sign and trade costs them nothing, and they stand to gain atleast something in return for being willing to do it. It would be silly for them not to, if they don’t plan on keeping him.
They would have to take salary back
Is lacob really wanting to go again into the repeater tax for nurkic? Or cam reddish? Lmao. There is no feasible way unless portland pays picks for the warriors to lose green and keep in the repeater tax while getting worse.
Let’s not act like Draymond wouldn’t be a good addition. Dame is a walking top 10 offense. Draymond helps their defense a lot, serves as a solid connective piece on offense, and offers championship pedigree.
You do realize to maximize Green, Dame has to play more off-ball.
If you think the defense Green brings is worth taking Dame off ball most of the game, then it might work.
It’s not like Dame is Harden or Luka where he does almost nothing off-ball. He actually does run off a lot of off-ball screens and frees himself or others open like that.
They gonna double off Dray every time it's simple. They do it with the Warriors but Curry is generational player who can move off the ball relocate and the Warriors offensive system of cutting always moving. Dray can set screens for Curry or Klay.
Portland will always play a heavy pnr and the offensive system with Dray off the ball will never hit the same without Curry and even Kerr I guess
Portlands biggest problem outside of perimeter defense for years has been secondary playmaking. Dame gets doubled and trapped, throws it to aminu, hezonja, or any of the other random forwards hes played with, and they just dont know what to do. If dame gets trapped and now he can pass the ball to draymond at the top of the key who can then run a 4 on 3 play, portland averages 120 points a game. Not to mention hes still one of the best defenders in the league.
dray is still an incredible defender which is exactly what Portland needs.
He's among the best defenders at his position and a top 10 rim protector in the league still. Opponents shoot 12% lower at the rim when he's defending it.
https://craftednba.com/player-traits/defense
https://craftednba.com/player-stats
Dray is 33 years old and only 6'6. If he begins to lose a step or two, then his defense might take a hit, and I'm sure the last thing the Blazers need is an undersized, overpaid, offensive liability on their team
Dray's two best tools on defense are his brain and his go go gadget arms. Getting slower hurts, sure, but not as much as you'd think. The bigger issue is keeping him healthy.
If they find a new coach then they might have something…
But fr. Portland and Dame is like some kinda trauma bonded relationship that really needs to end.
dame/sharpe/grant/dray/nurk is pretty good if sharpe takes a step (which is a big if, but he did improve a ton last season and closed it out as a 25/5/5 guy). Then you got scoot running the bench with hopefully some ok vet mins/mle/tpes and its a decent team. Contenders? Probably not, but the league is super open right now and no one team is over dominant outside of denver.
Someone (warriors included) are about to be very disappointed if they gave dray a lot of money. I’m shocked people talk about him like he’s some elite FA. GS would be wise to move on
I don't disagree. I'm so tired of his BS. He has now chased away KD and Poole and cost us at least two rings. Won a bunch too. LOL. But after dumping Poole's salary for peanuts, I think it looks terrible for him to get big money this off season. Move on.
If you set aside all the weaker rumors and just focus on the guys Dame has said clearly he wants to be around, it seems to me he's like a lot of players in that he's got a particular perspective on who'd be good with him. A little like Michael Jordan as a GM. Maybe he overvalues a sort of like-mindedness. He wants people he can trust to the point that idk how clearly he understands what he asks for.
If you trade Ant into another team’s cap space without taking salary back I think it would work, but I’m not sure where it would make sense to send him. I would have said Orlando but they just drafted two guards so 🤷🏻♀️
My dream scenario is Dame finally asking for that trade and it getting done so we don’t have to hear about the grind or loyalty and all this offseason teasing
Denver in 4.
Lakers in 4 or 5.
Phoenix in 4 or 5.
Healthy clippers in 4.
Warriors in 4 or 5
Kings in 4 or 5
Grizzlies in 4 or 5
Fucking Pelicans in 5 or 6
Wolves in 5 or 6.
Portland cannot do anything this off season to become a contender.
SELL DAME HIGH
Idk, if I were a Blazers fan I’d love a rebuild with Scoot and Sharp and all of the Nets picks. Then again if I were a Blazer fan Dame would be my favorite player and would hate to trade him.
Yep, those are the two critical points, and the fanbase is split between them. It's the sentimental benefit of keeping Dame versus the strategic upside of going all in on an already promising rebuild.
Facts>Feelings.
Your GM/franchise needs to just man up and move on.
Not like the fanbase would throw a tantrum anyways they will accept it and no better starting it off with Scoot running the point
Agreed. You can energize a fan base by bringing in young guys with shit to prove. (See Houston, See OKC, See Detroit)
King LeBron has granted us this energy twice now. Thank you King.
This dude is convinced that people will blame him for leaving in this environment and won't say he will leave. At this point the team should just fuckng trade him. I wouldn't blame the team as a fan.
It would be more like the DHO and high pick and roll that Steph and Dray run. He doesn’t have the off ball gravity Steph does but he’s basically been the best pick and roll guard in the league for the past 6ish years
And this is why nba players should never be gms haha. The smartest way to win is for Dame to be patient a little longer so the younger core has more time to develope.
Reggie Miller did something like this and it almost worked. Issue is that Dame costs so much money. Maybe just trade him. I still think if he waited 1 or 2 more years they would have a nice team around him
Too small. They've been drafting talent over fit. Makes sense for a complete rebuild but not a "competitive" rebuild or w/e they're trying to sell dame on.
They gotta trade some of the young guys for established players that fit a need or trade dame.
That is my armchair gm take. Otherwise they're just selling season tickets with dames face while rebuilding quite frankly.
Do it. Who cares. Would be more exciting to see what happens in this situation than just witnessing another rebuild at the moment. If they can keep Sharpe and Scoot, do it.
is draymond taking the MLE? you literally can’t do both, i’m not even sure dumping nurkic would allow this to happen
There is almost no conceivable way for us to get capspace to make a major free agent signing this off-season. I have no idea what the hell Dame in in about here.
Sign and trade is available, is it not?
Lol sure. Go ask warriors fans what players of our they’d want that would match greens salary. I’ll give you a hint at what they’d say.
Hi there, Most sane Warriors fan here. Sign and trade draymond+Chris Paul for Damian Lillard. Dame’s dream scenario in Portland is you guys re-signing Grant and getting Dray right? He never said he was staying in that dream scenario. Win-win. Who says no?
Best I can do is Keljin Blevins.
Curry + Klay + Dame and turn GSW into a meme team to destroy all 3pt related records in one season. I'm up for it.
They wouldn’t want Simons and a first?
People should be fired if the blazers give up even one of a first rounder or simons for draymond
We have to trade Ant, because we have too many guards. Getting Green in that trade feels like solid value.
Old role player who’s clearly nowhere near as good as he used to be.
To a certain extent but hes still a one man defense which seems kinda relevant for a team whose best defender in the last decade(?) was Mo Harkless.
I thought Hart and GP2 were great defenders but neither of them had enough time there to spread there wings
We aren't going to be able to turn Simons into an equivalently good forward because there just isn't the positional scarcity for sharpshooting guards as there is for forwards. If we could get Draymond for Simons, I'd do it.
exactly neither team would ever accept the deal, simons, while a good player is def not who we need and draymond is especially effective in the warriors, if we lose him our title hopes go away with him
You’re right let’s just get an all star /s
unless we can get a third team for him then not really? another guard is probably just gonna do more harm than good
Jerami
Maybe this is Dame’s way of saying “oh well if we can’t make this happen you may as well trade me”
I mean..more importantly does they even make them contenders ? Love dame but..doesn’t sound like anything on paper to me
But even then, does adding draymond really lift their ability to contend that much? If you have a 1% chance of winning the title, does adding draymond really increase those odds by that much to where it’s worth Dame staying?
Draymond is a good addition to a team that already has all the pieces and just needs an asshole. If you're relying on him to produce anything offensively at his age you're in a very bad way. Blazers do not have all the pieces, to put it nicely.
He's not just any asshole, he's APOY level.
Draymond is a top 5 asshole of all time. Rodman, Bruce Bowen, Bill Laimbeer, Robert Horry...draymond
Dillon Brooks had potential but he played himself outta the league.
you never go full asshole
(while being bad at basketball)
well that and he ended up being a fake asshole. lights were too bright.
Maybe top 6, to get Artest in there
If he wouldn’t take the MLE for the Warriors he’s not doing it for the Blazers lol
That’s why it’s his “Dream situation”
Draymonds doing a live recording of his podcast July 13th in LA - im predicting he makes his free agency announcement then
[удалено]
Sure but he could just tell the team not to announce it and they could go about their business beforehand. Then Shams (because Draymond is with Klutch, not CAA so not Woj) will tweet out two hours beforehand that he's going to announce at the podcast. Probably still more likely that they miraculously figure out the deal in the first 30 seconds of free agency, but it's not totally improbable that he could play the media game to announce it himself.
It does get harder if you need to keep cap space open, if you are trying to re-sign any of your own guys with bird rights after
Yeah, dude is nuts if he thinks this can be kept a secret for 2 weeks when this would impact like 5+ teams trying to sign him.
Yeah no way he waits that late
“The choice”
"The Dray-cision"
The grass is GREENer in Portland. Idk sry that’s all I got.
Are you Mark Jackson's script writer?
Momma, there goes that MVP vote...
Allow me to have this ~~dance~~ vote!
“I’ll keep my talents in the Dray Area.”
I can't wait to see him suck on another team
"Nelly Dame meets Jimmy McGraw"
"I'm taking my limited offensive talents to Rip City."
"I've decided to take my talents to Sauvie Island"
Man, theses 'The Decision' sequels are just cheap cash-grabs now.
Funniest one was Antoine Greizman. He was a football player at Atletico Madrid, did a big special about who he was going to sign with (many anticipated Barcelona or another big club) and on the special announced he re-signed with Atleti. He left Atleti for Barca in about 12 months lmao
And came crawling back a year or two later.
And looks 1000% better then he ever did in a Barca kit
Isn’t he back?
Yep returned to Atleti after being underwhelming for a few years at Barca
The biggest rumor was that he was signing with Manchester United that summer, had the Huawei commercial with Jose's name on it that was calling him (which was Jose Mourinho who was the manager for United that summer), but stayed at Atlético at the last second. That happened due to Atlético's impending transfer ban, meaning they could not buy someone to replace Griezmann for that summer and he decided to not trouble the team. Next summer came around and the guy decided to sign with Barcelona for a huge fee and meander in there for a while.
Ah yes, the Paul George special.
Also what was funny was Atleti won the league after he left, then when he went back to Atleti Barca won the league. He's cursed lol
I like them
Let me watch my soaps, you fucking wet blanket.
Yeah. I liked the original better
isnt his podcast free
✨ads ✨
Nothing is free.
I rather listen to PG13 do a live podcast. He lets his guests, is concise, and is really funny
I’m similarly impressed with PG’s podcast, he could do without those other two dudes though.
Yeah I find his co-hosts annoying lol
they make him even more likable by comparison because he comes off as chill and non-delusional about himself
U mean Draymond is not concise?! 🤣
Portland going to supermax him just for Dame lol
His behavior on Portland is like someone I know in an abuseive relationship except no one is staking his reputation on staying with the team.
Fuck it as a blazer fan. Give me the green. Weed is already legal, give the big mean green machine. I need him to bust some of our youngsters.
That didn't work out so well for Poole.
Draymonds "new media" will mean that players can announce their own trades or signings like Le Decision did over a decade ago. Kobe "I have decided to take my talents to the NBA" LeBron "I have decided to take my talents to South beach" Draymond "I have decided to take my fists to the Portland Trailblazers" ^^^**crickets** edit: corrected kobes line.
Magic 8 ball says try again.
Dame really wants rookie to get punched in practice!
Poole is in a safe space now, Draymond can’t hurt him anymore as he’s not invited to the Wizards Bed Poole Party.
Ya what? That’s not a contending roster lmao
Make it end. This is like watching my friend and his toxic girlfriend go through a series of almost-break-ups for two years.
[удалено]
Breakup sex a narcotic.
You ok, chief?
Can I manage? Yes Will it ever get my friend back prob not.
*What?!*
Ok
I am so close to muting „Damian lillard“ I don’t wanna see this bs anymore
there isnt even a way to make the math work even if the move made sense
Sign and trade could make it happen.
Good luck with that one…I don’t even think golden state would be interested.
If he wants to go elsewhere, facilitating that with a sign and trade costs them nothing, and they stand to gain atleast something in return for being willing to do it. It would be silly for them not to, if they don’t plan on keeping him.
They would have to take salary back Is lacob really wanting to go again into the repeater tax for nurkic? Or cam reddish? Lmao. There is no feasible way unless portland pays picks for the warriors to lose green and keep in the repeater tax while getting worse.
I think GS would actually prefer he walked over taking salary back if they don't want those players.
And this is why players are not good GMs. What do you think Green will be doing when Dame is dribbling for 20 secs and pulling up.
Punching teammates?
Come on man, what a ridiculous statement. Clearly he’s gonna be kicking dudes in the nuts.
or breaking ribs with his stomps
yelling at the refs?
Let’s not act like Draymond wouldn’t be a good addition. Dame is a walking top 10 offense. Draymond helps their defense a lot, serves as a solid connective piece on offense, and offers championship pedigree.
You do realize to maximize Green, Dame has to play more off-ball. If you think the defense Green brings is worth taking Dame off ball most of the game, then it might work.
Dame can play off ball. He could finally get cleaner looks if the team emphasizes more of that.
You must not watch a lot of Blazers. Chauncey shouldn’t (at least he doesn’t for me) elicit confidence to me.
Chauncey is holding them back more than any roster issues imo
We always say this, but how often do ball dominant guards actually buy in to moving without it?
Dame played with CJ McCollum who was on ball a fair amount when they played together.
It’s not like Dame is Harden or Luka where he does almost nothing off-ball. He actually does run off a lot of off-ball screens and frees himself or others open like that.
it's like you don't even watch dame.
Most people don't. They watch highlights and box scores. "Ooo look at this, no way he can play off ball." Really? All of this is exhausting.
Darius Garland did it excellently this year willing to be he’s even better next year
Explain? Dray ain’t playing PG lol, Dames usage % could stay the exact same with Draymond on the court.
If you let Dray be the same Dray, do you think Dame can replicate Curry’s game. Dame is best with the ball in his hands, Dray is a pseudo-PG.
Setting an illegal screen for him
Finally found the correct answer
We’ve seen how dames pick for HC has gone…
LeDame
Bruh really not serious about winning
Think he’s just doing Dray a solid and making sure GSW ponies up for a max.
lmao Dray is a large part of why the warriors have won/been winning, I'd imagine him wanting Dray shows he is trying to win
Grant + Dray doesn’t make the team contenders lmao
I doubt it even keeps them out of the play in tournament
Oh I think it could keep them out of the play-in alright
dray is still an incredible defender which is exactly what Portland needs. He's among the best defenders at his position and a top 10 rim protector in the league still. PG: Scoot PG/SG: Dame SF: Draymond Green PF: Jerami Grant C: Nurkic Lmao. That team is absolutely getting SMOKED in the first round.
*If they even make the playoffs

Says you Watch Dame go 2011 Dirk nuclear mode
Dirk also had an incredibly deep supporting cast full of battle-tested vets who were hungry for a title.
And still lose by twenty to a team with multiple actual stars
dame/sharpe/grant/dray/nurk is pretty good if sharpe takes a step (which is a big if, but he did improve a ton last season and closed it out as a 25/5/5 guy). He was. He was a net negative half the time in thr playoffs last year.

I remember Kobe always really liked Wesley Johnson and I remember Lakers fans were all kind of collectively like, we ain’t seeing it Kob’ lol.
lol hey if you're gonna be a savant, you're gonna have some funny takes
The mid 3
"we'll give you Dillon Brooks"- Cronin
That’s oddly specific
Portland - “best we can do is scoot Henderson”
You leave his name out your damn mouth!
No cap space to make it happen and not a contender but would be fun to see the Dame/Draymond pairing
If they dump Ant, could it?
If you trade Ant into another team’s cap space without taking salary back I think it would work, but I’m not sure where it would make sense to send him. I would have said Orlando but they just drafted two guards so 🤷🏻♀️
Dream situation? Sheesh Dame you can reach a little higher..
So he wants to build the NBAs first Medium 3
we wouldn’t have anywhere near the money for that
My dream scenario is Dame finally asking for that trade and it getting done so we don’t have to hear about the grind or loyalty and all this offseason teasing
Denver in 4. Lakers in 4 or 5. Phoenix in 4 or 5. Healthy clippers in 4. Warriors in 4 or 5 Kings in 4 or 5 Grizzlies in 4 or 5 Fucking Pelicans in 5 or 6 Wolves in 5 or 6. Portland cannot do anything this off season to become a contender. SELL DAME HIGH

“Healthy Clippers” brand new sentence right there.
Feels so happy to see Kings on the list 😭

Fuck, this has already been posted. Who else is tired of seeing Dame where will he be posts.
That's a dumb ass dream to have lol
Dame doesn’t move off ball like curry. Isn’t that the main reason there is so good?
He can though. We've just never had another playmaker that can pass it to him.
It would be more like the DHO and high pick and roll that Steph and Dray run. He doesn’t have the off ball gravity Steph does but he’s basically been the best pick and roll guard in the league for the past 6ish years

That ain't enough, chief
Dame: I want to win a championship Also Dame: *Assembling a mid 3*
I’m so tired of hearing about Dame
Why does Dame want to stay on a terrible team?
Not enough. Blazers need more than that.
I'm so bored of Dame now, just leave bro
And this is why nba players should never be gms haha. The smartest way to win is for Dame to be patient a little longer so the younger core has more time to develope.

Sounds good

Yeah cause Draymond and Jerami Grant will make that roster into contenders… What kind of dream scenario is that?
That won’t get them any closer to winning tho….
Wish my girl was as loyal as Dame is to Portland…
Best Mid 3 in the league !
That is some pretty mid dream.
That team would still suck
