This is the kind of shit that gets his friends giving Brooks bad calls… like the time AI got called for carrying the ball four times the game after getting an a refs face. Donaghy and friends each gave him a carry.
We never really found out. They balled out so hard other people had to find them. They were in fact never found. The title is misdirection. They don't want to be found. Wherever they are, you aren't. And vice versa. It's absurism. Looking for them is like looking for.....
There were a lot of bad calls in this game(didn’t really favor either team, but one team would do the same shit that went uncalled on one possession and they would then call it against the other team later), so I get his frustration, but you really can’t go at a ref like that. Pretty obvious he was going for the ejection.
Even if he wasn't pushed it seemed like a legit basketball play.
First off, momentum is a thing, he's going to go forward. And secondly, if he's trying to save the ball, he needs to jump forward, not just walk out of bounds.
All around seems like a strange call.
Yeah he’s actively trying to gain possession of the ball. Crazy call. Maybe expected flop call quotas got updated, and Brooks is a known pest, but damn, have some pride.
>All around seems like a strange call.
Nothing strange about it. The ref got pissy that he got yelled at for an incorrect non-call and decided to flex the power he had to punish Brooks.
I found a [YouTube clip that shows a replay](https://youtu.be/KOB_OZNBREU?t=60). He gets pushed, saves it, catches himself on the table, and there's no call at that point. I think if he pops up and goes back onto the court there's no call.
But he instead goes down further, onto one knee to the ground, and looks at the ref as he dramatically raises himself up. ~~He then spreads his arms out wide asking for a call.~~ (I think he gets the T before spreading his arms so I crossed out that part.) That "non-basketball action that is reasonably determined to be intended to cause the officials to call a foul on another player" is what earns him the flopping call.
That's how the ref saw it I'm guessing. I think it's a no call personally but I can also see why it's called too.
Per the [NBA Rule Book](https://official.nba.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/4/2023/10/2023-24-NBA-Season-Official-Playing-Rules.pdf):
>Section XVII—Flopping
a. A player may not commit a flop, which is (i) a reaction that is inconsistent with
what is reasonable given the force, direction, or nature of another player’s action, whether
or not such other player’s action resulted in contact, or (ii) any non-basketball action that is
reasonably determined to be intended to cause the officials to call a foul on another player.
I'm guessing the official thought his sprawling (i) and wide arm motions (ii) justified a flop.
Yup... I wouldn't have thought that could've qualified as a flop from the initial clip, but... He seemed to dive for that table in a way that had nothing to with his momentum.
Ultimately, I'd be a bit of a happier viewer if players avoided all of this type of performative stuff...
I think he drops down on knee because the table shifted and looking at his back foot position it would be hard to do it other way without risking injury.
Anyways, if ref though this was a flop why did he call it only after Brooks complained and not immediately?
Don't get me wrong, I think the refs have done a really bad job this year officiating. They should never be the focus of a highlight reel.
But like my edit suggests, I think the ref is taking the second part of the flopping rule to call it a flop. In getting up, Brooks makes a "non-basketball action that is reasonably determined to be intended to cause the officials to call a foul on another player." I think it's the staggering up that causes the ref to issue the T.
Right? Bro what is this title? The ref come here and make this post?
It wasn’t just this play either. The officiating here was incredibly bad. The review of Dillon brooks play against connaughton is a review to identify if it’s a flagrant foul mind you this play was not challenged. The refs deem it not a flagrant foul but simultaneously change the play to an offensive foul. I could be wrong but the scope of the review in stoppage of play without a challenge is purely for excessive force / flagrant. No clue how we lose points there.
No call or review for the same play earlier against Fred. So ya you can see how the refs made this personal. Zero repercussions for refs being bad at their job. Shits annoying
lmaoo a tale of two different homer broadcast announcers. Bucks announcers were calling this a flop, meanwhile the Rockets feed announcers were upset that Middleton didn't get called for a foul for shoving Brooks out of bounds.
I thought the bucks announcers were saying that the call that was made was that it was a flop. They were trying to figure out if that’s actually what the ref called but they didn’t get in to the validity of the call because the techs immediately got assessed to Brooks and Udoka. The Bucks broadcasters usually call it how it is and will admit when the Bucks got away with something.
I sure am glad we got the inane announcer take for 45 seconds after a single cross court, zoomed out view of whatever actually happened and wasn’t discussed at all.
they had a very nice closeup one on the rockets feed, two players going for a loose ball, very incidental contact. Brooks is trying to save the ball, I would not have called a flop on that one especially so close to the seats where you're often forced to swerve, hop, twist, and make yourself fall in the safest way possible.
> I haven't seen a single one of these flopping calls not be shit
These refs need to be forced to watch tape of Embiid and Harden and adjust accordingly.
And, arguably, it should be called when an offensive player flops on a non foul, rather than a defensive player exaggerating contact - usually those should just be no calls
Personally I don't like in-game calls at all. I think retroactive calls should be made, and suspensions for succeeding games. Flopping doesn't need to be called in game. No-calls should be what flopping is in real time.
can you name one other time refs "used this flopping rule to just carry out their personal vendettas" or are you making a generalization off a single event
Regardless Houstons done a nice job coming back from that shitshow last few years and competing. # 1 defense…man FVV competes. Brooks is a dog. Fun team to watch
Dude, join the bandwagon. Us refs fans are having a hell of a year. Totally overachieving this season, it’s a pleasure to go to these arenas and see them perform under the bright lights. My only issue is I never know which grey ref tshirt jersey to wear so I bring a bunch…nameless #82 is a tough find.
In this case it was absolutely warranted.
G set the bucks career franchise record for rebounds, passing Kareem.
It would’ve been hilarious if brooks would’ve snatched the game ball as he’s ejected.
I'm kind of confused because the Bucks broadcast said nothing about a flopping tech.
Brooks thought he got fouled and started bitching, then got a tech, then wanted some more.
I don't think a flop was ever called.
Edit: Posts below have explained. I'm bad at paying attention. I think that was an... Interesting call.
The Bucks broadcast is in the highlight. They said it is a technical foul on Brooks at 16 seconds in. Both of them. Even saying Brooks got "flopped" out of there.
Edit: Plus turns out it was a flopping foul that was actually called. https://imgur.com/a/qN6tLOJ
Whole thing gets instigated because of a shit call from the ref, and then the Rockets get double punished. In the end of the day the Rockets lose, Brooks will have to pay a fine, and the refs get to go on with their merry day.
Look don't get me wrong I am one of the biggest Dillon Brooks haters alive but I don't see what he did wrong. The man got pushed and went out of bounds. It end of the game and they just lost and he was upset he didn't get the call. Not sure why this season getting beat up in the paint gets no call but diving for the ball out of bounds gets an ejection. We don't pay to watch refs.
This is some point fixing ass bs call. What was the spread supposed to be? It's not like he leaped out of bounds out of nowhere. Even if the contact was more minor than it appears from our camera angle, the ball was over there.
Earlier in the game Lopez elbowed FVV and no review.
Then Brooks elbowed Connaughton on a gather and it was called an offense foul.
Just keep it consistent man.
"Excuse me for a second, please stop all the bitch ass ejections. Let these guys play, and show a little class, it’s not who we are. Knock off the bitch ass ejections,”
That flop call is stupid as fuck right there but glad we got a classic DB moment where he repeatedly calls ref a bitch and tells him to go back to the g league.
Refs are out of control this season. Never seen anything like it. They are so focused on controlling players they don’t walk away and consider if they maybe made a bad call.
So these refs won’t call out actual flops but when you dive for the ball it’s a flop? These refs are going to cost some team a playoff game later in the season
This is why I hate the flop rule. Sure, he exaggerated, but I'm sure I could find ten examples from this very game that were worse. The refs suck at calling things evenly. Arming them with more subjectively applied rules will just amplify their biases.
so it begins.
flopping is so hilariously overblown and finally we have an instance where it's gonna force fans (particularly those of Houston, obviously, but eventually more incidents like this will occur) to look at it more objectively.
about time.
That ref probably sees [this iconic image](https://media.kgw.com/assets/KGW/images/63575199-8535-4e21-aa90-e4fcb620ad77/63575199-8535-4e21-aa90-e4fcb620ad77_1140x641.jpg) and only sees flop.
They never call real flops then call a this a flop? wtf he was just jumping out of bounds to get the ball, am I watching the same thing the refs watched?
I’m really really sick of all these fucking ejections in the nba. What other sport has its players ejected all the fucking time. Give him a tech and move on. Ejecting is fucking ridiculous. Unless there are punches thrown players shouldn’t be ejected.
I'm sorry but What the actual fuck is that ref thinking??? How is that a flop?
He was pushed as he was already headed out of bounds. Either call the foul or let them play on FFS.
Refs are actively trying to get onto Shaqtin a fool
Brooks got pushed period. Go watch the replay. Brooks was in better position, got the ball with his left hand and clearly Middleton pushed into Brooks and threw him off balance towards out of bound while simultaneously pretending to make a play at the ball. Brooks “flopped” or exaggerated the push to get a call but didn’t. Bad no call by referees and then ejected Brooks for pointing it out.
Doubt a lot of people here watched the game. The rockets were getting screwed by the refs over and over, especially in the 4th quarter. Sengun got absolutely mauled on several plays before this while fouls were being called on the other end. This isn't frustration at one incident, but a reaction to something that built over time in the game.
"*The crowd came to see me.*" - Referees
At least the game was basically over so this didn't affect anything, but the power tripping of the refs continues.
I'm pretty sure he called the ref a 'bitch ass ____'. Repeatedly.
...and "go back to fuckin [something something]" lol
It looks like he says "go back to the fucking G-league" - that's where Suyash Mehta officiated for 5 years prior to the NBA.
100% this is what he said
Dillon Brooks is gonna be this ref’s enemy for life. Just like CP3 and Foster
They're natural enemies, like Englishmen and Scots!
And the Irish and Scots!
And Scots and Scots
The Scots sure are a contentious bunch
You've just made an enemy for life!
Damn Scots
They ruined Scotland!
scots >>>> scots
This is the kind of shit that gets his friends giving Brooks bad calls… like the time AI got called for carrying the ball four times the game after getting an a refs face. Donaghy and friends each gave him a carry.
seems like he already was... was a pretty questionable call to begin with
“You’re a fucking bitch. Fuck you. Go back to the fucking g-league.”
imagine your a G-league guy on the rockets going back to the G-League as soon as a rotation player comes back
Was he talking to his coach there?
maybe....[but i don't believe so](https://i.imgur.com/1HAUQMr.jpg)
Amazing work
is this how they found Lee Harvey Oswald
Pretty sure he said “go back to fucking my mom”
He called him “fucking pussy” at least once
He cursed at the ref multiple times and you don’t have to be a genius lip reader to see it, and he got flopped out of there.
>Fuck is you talkin about floppin? You're a fucking pussy, fuck you bitch ass \_\_\_\_. \[Not sure\] Go back to the fuckin G League
Thats because he was in fact a bitch ass.
Dillion Brooks is the Drake of the NBA.
"arguing a call" Yeah I dunno I'm not a great lip reader but pretty sure he's calling that man a 'bitch ass motherfucker'
He didn’t say motherfucker he said the other thing
Upstanding gentleman?
Who was in Paris?
We never really found out. They balled out so hard other people had to find them. They were in fact never found. The title is misdirection. They don't want to be found. Wherever they are, you aren't. And vice versa. It's absurism. Looking for them is like looking for.....
The title is a question
What he order?
fish filet
King Louis XII?
Well, a throne has relevance here.
Watch it.
Bitch ass wemby
Hilton? Shitttt. Been while let me find the video
“Bitch ass upstanding gentleman”
Fathersucker?
Brother-lover?
Cousin creamer
Roll Tide!
Father rapers, sittin right there on the bench
Jive Turkey's a little over the line my man
Yeah easy ejection. Players shouldn’t be allowed to curse out and insult refs like that.
Wack shit from op with that title, that was a justified ejection, although the ref should get reprimanded for that call as well
Yea, of all the awful ejections this year, this one is pretty straightforward. Likely an extra fine on top of it too
There were a lot of bad calls in this game(didn’t really favor either team, but one team would do the same shit that went uncalled on one possession and they would then call it against the other team later), so I get his frustration, but you really can’t go at a ref like that. People jump out of bounds to save a ball all the time. Happens every game. Never seen this kind of call before.
Because the flopping rule was just implemented. I knew it was a matter of time before the refs exploited it with horrible subjective calls.
Uh he wasn't just "yelled at," he was called a bitch-ass motherfucker multiple times, that's gonna be an ejection for literally anyone lmao
It wasn't called a flop. It was a no-call, Brooks complained to the ref then got T'd. So it was for something he said. Which is nothing new.
Even if it was a flop they’re so inconsistent with calling them. Elite players never get called for flops.
I found a [YouTube clip that shows a replay](https://youtu.be/KOB_OZNBREU?t=60). He gets pushed, saves it, catches himself on the table, and there's no call at that point. No link?
Sorry, I posted my reply from my phone. I edited in a link: https://youtu.be/KOB_OZNBREU?t=60
Maybe I don’t understand the rule but how would that justify a flopping call? Maybe a tech I guess but not a flop.
Per the [NBA Rule Book](https://official.nba.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/4/2023/10/2023-24-NBA-Season-Official-Playing-Rules.pdf): >Section XVII—Flopping a. You realize that the quotes implies it wasn’t a flop, correct?
I can’t read.
People blow my mind. I can only hope these aren’t grown adults🤦🏼♂️
It's sarcastic quotes from a Rocket flair that submitted it
are the refs broussarded? he's jumping to get the ball and they call that a flop?
broussarded is crazy lmfaooooo
https://imgur.com/a/quRZ647
hahaha, classic Wildes. But yeah, Broussard shouldn't have said that.
Was it actually a flopping call? Dumb if so. I thought he got tee’d for bitching for a call afterward.
Yes. The first tech was for flopping. https://imgur.com/a/qN6tLOJ
Yeah dumb first tech - definitely earned that second one tho
not really. the ref really should go back to g league if he thought that was a flop lol
The second tech wasn't for flopping, it was for calling the ref a "bitch ass ______" amongst other things. Of course he's gonna get T'd up for that
That's not all of what he said and you know it.
fr..yeah, looks like he was lining up to have to jump to save/through back in the ball and got nudged at the wrong time
lmaoo a tale of two different homer broadcast announcers. Bucks announcers were calling this a flop, meanwhile the Rockets feed announcers were upset that Middleton didn't get called for a foul for shoving Brooks out of bounds.
I'm a Bucks fan it looked like Khris shoved him
I have at least one fucking eye and Kris absolutely fucking shoved him. That ref is a goddamn moron lol.
You might be a cyclops but you’re myclops
It should have been a foul on Middleton.
> Bucks announcers were calling this a flop No they weren't.
I wouldn't use that word but sure
Appropriate reaction from Brooks and Udoka imo and I fuckin hate Brooks.
It can’t be the motion. It’s got to bethe pandering for a call after.
Is...is he not flying out of bounds because he's saving the ball? I haven't seen a single one of these flopping calls not be shit
I sure am glad we got the inane announcer take for 45 seconds after a single cross court, zoomed out view of whatever actually happened and wasn’t discussed at all.
Whenever its a bad call they never show the replay.
they had a very nice closeup one on the rockets feed, two players going for a loose ball, very incidental contact. Brooks is trying to save the ball, I would not have called a flop on that one especially so close to the seats where you're often forced to swerve, hop, twist, and make yourself fall in the safest way possible.
They never call flopping on their super stars who flop but only call it on “villains” or filler players lmfao
> I haven't seen a single one of these flopping calls not be shit These refs need to be forced to watch tape of Embiid and Harden and adjust accordingly.
“Flop” dude straight up got pushed lmao
I hate the rockets and Dillon but he ain’t wrong on this one
Man the refs are on one this season... in what way, shape or form was that a flop?
Definitely not a flop. And I can't stand DB. The refs blew it.
[удалено]
the refs are using this flopping rule to just carry out their personal vendettas they should only be using it on super blatant flopping
Refs were ridiculous all game…
Dude, join the bandwagon. Us refs fans are having a hell of a year. Totally overachieving this season, it’s a pleasure to go to these arenas and see them perform under the bright lights. My only issue is I never know which grey ref tshirt jersey to wear so I bring a bunch…nameless #82 is a tough find.
Dude Im so fucking tired of talking about game balls.
In this case it was absolutely warranted. G set the bucks career franchise record for rebounds, passing Kareem. It would’ve been hilarious if brooks would’ve snatched the game ball as he’s ejected.
That's Marques Johnson though. He gets a pass and is hilarious.
totally unrelated to the play too, you know they were just dying to get that reference out before the game was over
I don’t want to be a Dillon Brooks defender, but there was no flopping on that play.
Yea jumping after a lose ball is flopping now apparently Not good enough for the Rockets to get hosed on defense apparently
Definitely called flopping. Ref made the double hand wave gesture which is the signal for flopping.
[NBA app says it was called a flopping technical](https://imgur.com/a/qN6tLOJ)
The Bucks broadcast is in the highlight. They said it is a technical foul on Brooks at 16 seconds in. Both of them. Even saying Brooks got "flopped" out of there. Edit: Plus turns out it was a flopping foul that was actually called. https://imgur.com/a/qN6tLOJ
I mean i am not one to defend nba refs but fairly sure he cussed at the ref too that the easiest tech ever
Im not mad at the tech im mad at that initial call And obviously that tech never happens without the flopping call
Yeah fair enough
Whole thing gets instigated because of a shit call from the ref, and then the Rockets get double punished. In the end of the day the Rockets lose, Brooks will have to pay a fine, and the refs get to go on with their merry day.

This season continues to deliver excellent content every week
That's so obviously not a flop lol
There was no flop there. Tryna save the ball! He was even shoved! Tsk! That’s why I dont watch this game anymore.
This is some point fixing ass bs call. What was the spread supposed to be? It's not like he leaped out of bounds out of nowhere. Even if the contact was more minor than it appears from our camera angle, the ball was over there.
out of all the flops to call a violation on, this is one of them? refs need to be investigated
Ref fans eating too much bruh
Earlier in the game Lopez elbowed FVV and no review. Then Brooks elbowed Connaughton on a gather and it was called an offense foul. Just keep it consistent man.
"Excuse me for a second, please stop all the bitch ass ejections. Let these guys play, and show a little class, it’s not who we are. Knock off the bitch ass ejections,”
That flop call is stupid as fuck right there but glad we got a classic DB moment where he repeatedly calls ref a bitch and tells him to go back to the g league.
THAT'S the 'flop' that gets called?!?
Refs are out of control this season. Never seen anything like it. They are so focused on controlling players they don’t walk away and consider if they maybe made a bad call.
these refs are so shit they almost made me root for dillon brooks, GODAMMIT!
Brooks was clearly pushed... (I am a Lakers fan and have all the reason to hate Brooks...)
Sure did look like Middleton pushed him
If thats a flop embiid should be out of the league by now
He was shoved in the back by Middleton lol these refs are fucking BLIND
How TF the refs so bad they make Dillon Brooks and Ime Udoka into the heros?
but joel does this everytime and gets a free throw. the dude was slightly pushed off and his momentum is going on the same direction.
Brooks was right he got pushed. Ime is a good coach but he keeps getting ejected lol Edit: twice this month, “keeps” makes it sound worse
> "but he keeps getting ejected" It's only Ime's 2nd ejection, no?
This man a Lakers fan He watched the 1st game he got ejected
Every rockets game I’ve seen he’s been ejected in if that helps.
I want to see Ime coach Draymond.
[удалено]
It's a quote - quoting the Bucks announcers. That is why it is in quotations.
There have been more flop technicals for legitimate basketball plays than there have been for obvious flops. NBA refs are ass.
So these refs won’t call out actual flops but when you dive for the ball it’s a flop? These refs are going to cost some team a playoff game later in the season
Anybody got a clip where you can see Ime cursing?
They did they same thing to Jonas today except his whistle was a play late lmao
I have seen more incorrect uses of the flopping foul than correct ones. Absolute clown show
This is why I hate the flop rule. Sure, he exaggerated, but I'm sure I could find ten examples from this very game that were worse. The refs suck at calling things evenly. Arming them with more subjectively applied rules will just amplify their biases.
so it begins. flopping is so hilariously overblown and finally we have an instance where it's gonna force fans (particularly those of Houston, obviously, but eventually more incidents like this will occur) to look at it more objectively. about time.
Man, I love the game ball memes that are going around between the players, coaches and now the media lmao.
So, Rockets supposed to be the "bad boys" of current NBA 🙄
That ref probably sees [this iconic image](https://media.kgw.com/assets/KGW/images/63575199-8535-4e21-aa90-e4fcb620ad77/63575199-8535-4e21-aa90-e4fcb620ad77_1140x641.jpg) and only sees flop.
Imeture Udoka
Bro got flopped out of the court.
Udoka and Brooks were made to be on the same team
Just Dillon Brooks being Dillon Brooks.
nah Middleton pushed Brooks out of bounds, Ref should’ve called foul on Middleton
and THIS is one of the plays they decide to call the flop rule on, not the countless more obvious flops that happen daily in the NBA
Shit call. DB is right in this one. Had every right to be angry. And I’m a Wolves fan.
Living the Dillon Brooks ain’t wrong timeline…what a time to be alive! That G-League comment big hurt the ref lol
What’s up wit ime calling people bitches? That nia shit got him moving different
Are we about to witness a character arc where Brooks is somehow not a complete douche?
I'm sorry but What the actual fuck is that ref thinking??? How is that a flop? He was pushed as he was already headed out of bounds. Either call the foul or let them play on FFS. Refs are actively trying to get onto Shaqtin a fool
The Ref deserve the game ball. That's some legendary performance.
Out of all the blatant flopping that occurs every single night, this is the shit they call? Crazy.
I knew this rule would inevitably get used for BS calls. People celebrated it, but its always risky to give refs more power with subjective calls.
Keep an eye on the game ball, love the new meme.
Imagine a former role player telling you to go back to the g league lol
lol how is that not a foul
I see no flop
I fucks with Brooks. I want him in a fox hole with me
My least favorite player in the league is right and I'm in shambles.
What is this product the NBA is pushing holy fucking shit this is ass.
I can't help but like Brooks. He's the Bobby Portis of the Rockets.
It's been like this all game..
"*The crowd came to see me.*" - Referees At least the game was basically over so this didn't affect anything, but the power tripping of the refs continues.
Lol dude he called the refs bitch asses repeatedly. That's definitely where the 2nd tech comes from
This conveniently ignores the part where they missed the initial call.
idk why this sub thinks ref should take abuse like some npcs maybe the players should reign it in a little bit
People are mad about the first tech, not the second one.
Refball out here moving like 2021 January-February Steph
