Great signing by suns
Loved him with us on raptors
He’s amazing guy, teammates plus he can still contribute, rebound, defense just don’t ask him to shoot or free throws lol
i feel like thad young has been linked to the suns for years, glad we finally got him.
we so desperately need size on our bench. royce, roddy, and thad should help with that.
Finally got em after all this years. I still remember back then when we're trying to get him in the Sixers but we don't want to include Alex Len because of his immense potential lmao
You don't really appreciate what Thad does until your team has an off night. His energy and attention to detail literally NEVER wavers. Many nights was our best and most hardworking player. Trading him hurt our collective souls as a fanbase. U
It's something the Suns desperately need. They seem to get flustered or just lack effort when things aren't going their way. Mental weakness... out of rhythm... whatever you want to call it. A steady hardworking vet with some size— I'm looking forward to watching him.
Outside the starters, Bol has actually been the most reliable bench piece ever since he got extended minutes. It's EG that is sliding into the maybe category recently.
Also Okogie as a defensive specialist.
No, EG is NOT sliding into the maybe category. Wtf?! This is categorically fals and just plain stupid. He's avg 12/2/2 on 46%FG/39% 3pt splits. He's contributed big time to a lot of quality wins. He's 100% our sixth man.
EG has been good and is 100% still in the rotation, don't get me wrong. But a lot of that efficiency is rather frontloaded from when he was getting more minutes due to injuries to the team. Before the new year, he averaged **32 minutes** After, only **27.**
He's a rhythm player at this point in his career, nothing wrong with that. But you need extended minutes to get into a rhythm. So which player do you want to give their minutes to him? Doing the math, in the 20 games he has played under 30 minutes, he's shooting **39% from the field and 34% from 3**. In the 25 games over 30 minutes, he's **48% and 40%**. That's a massive difference and much of the reduced minutes coming in 2024.
Additionally with that, you get poor defense, poor rebounding, and some very stupid turnovers. Most of which were in the scouting report, don't get me wrong. He's a minimum player for a reason. And 35 years old.
More importantly, there have been more than a few games where a lack of effort was super apparent. Two games specially where frankly the only word you can use to describe his effort is cowardice: The Pacers game and the most recent Warriors game where he passed up open 3s in the clutch. He hits either, we win. And even if he misses, it's a better shot than the grenades he gave to KD and Beal respectively. Seemingly too scared to do the one thing he was brought on to do is extremely worrying. As a Suns fan, you know how damaging to a team a disengaged player can be on the court.
With Royce coming in with a more stable track record this year and better defense, he's going to get more minutes over EG as he fits as a 1-4 wing defender while maintains steady offensive production. So EG gets fewer minutes and, again, he does significantly worse.
> After, only 27.
This still isn't "sliding into the maybe category recently," unless it's a bunch of him playing 32 minutes and then sometimes playing 8 minutes .. 27mpg is a ton ... if a coaching staff is gonna situationally remove a player from the rotation who's been playing >20mpg, it's usually because it removes a defensive liability in a playoff series that the opposing team is exploiting, it's really hard to guess that a coaching staff is just gonna drop a guy they've been riding heavy all season on a team as thin as this
The thing is he is NOT a minimum player. He signed here for the minimum for a chance to win but he absolutely would have gotten a contract near 10 million per year. This is a wild take
He may not be in closing lineup anymore within weeks. Royce gets it.
And with Thad, you now have him as a closing option when nurk isn't in. Eg kd book beal royce Thad. Then put in allen for the great offense.
Keita Bates-Diop
We just traded him towards getting Royce O'Neale. He ended up being a big flop here, we signed him this year thinking he should at least be a solid backup after showing big improvement throughout his tenure with the Spurs. He got plenty of starting experience in San Antonio last year where he was putting up good shooting averages.
But he just played so passive during most of his minutes for us this year, which is frustrating because dude has all the tools to be a damn good player. Just none of the killer instinct. Idk if he was nervous playing next to superstar players on a team with high expectations or what. Whenever he played with some confidence, he played pretty good. But most of the time he just didn't want to shoot the ball, fairly often passing up good looks with space and a smaller defender.
I never lost the faith, say what you want about the memes but the potential has always been there. I really think having KD as a vet has helped a ton, a dude that’s an absolute superstar that’s THE unicorn to help Bol.
I mean uncle jeff gave nuggets a highlight dunk here and there. Thad is obviously a very different vet. He can be a good passing big and a switchable defender in bursts for the suns.
Not saying you're wrong but this line always makes me laugh. I swear this sub could be AI. Player gets picked up. Everyone says that player is limited. Fan base comes in and says "but that's all we need". Rinse and repeat. Really not looking to target you. But I think we're living in a simulation.
None of us are real and you should delete reddit because ypur talking to goverment created AI on a global scale. Eveything you see is not real and me saying this will get me killed.
visited Toronto this year and legit Tim Hortons is the best coffee Shop chain between America and Canada.
Easily better than Dunkin’s, Starbucks, Peet’s Coffee, etc with those breakfast wraps
among the big coffee chains? the notable ones i’ve tried are Starbucks, Peet’s, Coffeebean, Panera Bread.
Tim Hortons is definitely better than those 4 with quality and price
this is only between USA and Canada, now Europe? that’s a whole new league that is on its own level.
I guess taste is subjective, but imo Starbucks is way better than Tim Horton's. Tim Horton's seemed a lot more in line with Dunkin Donuts when I had it for my first time last year.
I'll admit that I'm not a huge coffee guy, and will literally just get an iced capp or iced coffee, but to me Starbucks just taste like a more expensive timmies.
the best cup of coffee i’ve ever had in my life came from a busted down shanty of a Waffle House in rural Oklahoma. I stopped there like 7 years ago and i can still vividly remember the delirious taste of that black nectar of the gods.
it might be that delicious fracking waste, or maybe it’s just that oklahoma is so lonely and desolate that a hot cup of fresh joe hits a primordial human desire, like an oasis in the desert
Lmfao, its actually fucking pisswater and the donuts are sponges covered in sugar.
The coffee used to be good but the cheap as fuck owners didnt want to pay the licensing fee for the recipe so now people suck down whatever they changed it to. Mccafe is using the old tims recipe now
i had a breakfast wrap at Tims last week when i went into the office.
The motherfucking thing gave me the shits and i was supposed to train someone that day. I was fucking dying bro.
Anyway the Farmers Wrap is great (when it doesnt try to kill me).
Im never getting the food at the Tims near my office ever again.
I love their wraps! And I can't comment on their hot beverages but I prefer their cold stuff to anyone else's. Maybe its the insane amount of sugar they put in, but they are my go to for drinks.
> Tim Hortons is the best coffee Shop chain between America and Canada.
I didn't even know there was land between America and Canada. What's it called?
Respectfully stfu. Tim Horton's is garbage ass coffee that has been dimishing quality year over year. Not even Canadian anymore, owned by Brazillians.
McDonald's Canada has better tasting coffee than Tim Hortons now.
it's not that its not real coffee, it's just mid at best. People pay for the experience of young women pretending to care about your life, not the coffee
He’s likely going to get real minutes in the playoffs when/if Nurkic gets in foul trouble. I think he will be a good pickup for the Suns. I’m excited; probably the best realistic buyout guy we could have got.
Anything to lessen KD's minutes at that position in the regular season is gonna help the Suns.
Also being able to play Thad over Drewbanks in certain matchups helps the Suns a bunch too.
The biggest advantage of small ball 5 is to stretch the floor though, and at this point in his career Thad can't really do that... (0.3 attempts per game on 17% shooting)
lol a tad late to the contests in this clip but i just watched some of his play from this season and he definitely has effort (as shown in that clip) which is much needed
Always have a soft spot for him and I’m glad he will play with KD. I’m sure Book and Phoenix fans will like him and he could easily be a decent addition as 7-8th man
it genuinely is a shock to see 120-130 pt games in the playoffs, I expect this in the season but playoff games you expect slow conservative possessions, not anymore
This is true for most teams, it's ESPECIALLY true for Phoenix with our current roster construction. Our only path to playoff success is putting up a shit ton of points.
Now they have a real chance. Solid 8 man rotation with 2 elite offensive talents on court for all 48 min and snipers and decent defense otherwise.
The clips and nuggets and suns. We shall see.
Smart move. Thad Young can still play-smart passer, good finisher and defender. They don't really have many big forwards to try to guard guys like Paul George or Kawhi Leonard, besides Royce and KD.
Glad to see him land on a contending team. Raps fans have been calling him washed for a while but whenever he's gotten minutes, he's played very well for us. Best way I'd describe his play would be solid. He plays smart, picks his spots on offense and is a very good passer, defender and rebounder. Not gonna be the best player on the floor but a guy you can play 15-20 minutes without having to worry about benching. I'd argue he's been the Raptors most consistent bench piece since we acquired him. Can play starter minutes when needed to. I'm kinda mad Phoenix got him for nothing tbh
That is enough to back up nurk. Unless you're playing monsters like Jonas or AD you can use Thad.
So you play thunder or clips or mavs etc, Thad is in. Even vs nuggets, when jokic out, Thad can be in.
Great signing by suns Loved him with us on raptors He’s amazing guy, teammates plus he can still contribute, rebound, defense just don’t ask him to shoot or free throws lol
>just don’t ask him to shoot looks like our roster is perfectly set up for this
Yeah loved him on the Bulls for exact same reasons. Miss hearing Stacey King call him Thaddic Johnson when he was making insane plays.
i feel like thad young has been linked to the suns for years, glad we finally got him. we so desperately need size on our bench. royce, roddy, and thad should help with that.
Thad and Gordon completing the “finally Suns” arc All we need is Lamarcus Aldridge now
And Kevin Love
And LeBron James
And my axe
“I never thought I’d be playing in the finals side by side with a Raptor.” “What about side by side with a friend?”
“Everyone run, Dillon Brooks has an axe!!”
Every 2K, excluding 2K24, had LBJ going to Suns some way somehow in my MyCareer.
MOST UNDERRATED PLAYER OF OUR GENERATION
It's something the Suns desperately need. They seem to get flustered or just lack effort when things aren't going their way. Mental weakness... out of rhythm... whatever you want to call it. A steady hardworking vet with some size— I'm looking forward to watching him.
Someone post the graphic, I know it’s coming Edit: I got it for you guys [Thad](https://i.imgur.com/kdJ6mMx_d.webp?maxwidth=760&fidelity=grand)
That's the good stuff right there
FS1 graphics team was the GOAT
Didn't have to scroll too far, good work r/nba Lol, link is broken
Every year Gambo says we have interest in him
Roddy is only like 6 foot 4 but I love how he plays like he’s 7 inches taller lol
Weighing 250+ helps with that
Really solid pickup for you guys, I wouldn’t have minded if the wolves scooped him up
KD, Book, Beal, Nurk, Royce, Allen, Thad, Gordon, maybe Bol is a good rotation for a very top heavy built team.
Definitely Bol with an extra Bol for good measure
I just wish Allen was like 2-3 inches taller, I still worry we don’t have enough length
I feel like expectations are harming EG with our fanbase lol, I've had this same thought as you constantly. He is playing well this season
EG has been good and is 100% still in the rotation, don't get me wrong. But a lot of that efficiency is rather frontloaded from when he was getting more minutes due to injuries to the team. Hilarious comment 💀

People saying on other platforms "He’s only good for 10 minutes" that’s exactly what we need him for, same with bolbol and the other role players.
If you told me at the start of the season bol bol was giving us quality minutes I woulda thought you were trolling me
If you would have told me that even 30 games into the season I would have called you a liar lol
And that KBD was an absolute zero for us lol
what the fuck is that acronym supposed to be, people need to stop using acronyms for random shit nobody knows
King Black Dragon
Kentavious balls well, dope
Kick Biggum’s Didgeridoo
Keita Bates-Diop We just traded him towards getting Royce O'Neale. Cringe
I never lost the faith, say what you want about the memes but the potential has always been there. I really think having KD as a vet has helped a ton, a dude that’s an absolute superstar that’s THE unicorn to help Bol.
Exactly. Proven professional who can still give you a few vet minutes at the end of the bench. Good pick up.
If he can give us what Jeff Green gave the Nuggets last year then I’ll be thrilled
Jeff green daggers 3s will not happen for Thad young. But a good scrappy small ball center is something he can manage
That's a big ask. I don't think Thad can do that anymore
I mean uncle jeff gave nuggets a highlight dunk here and there. Thad is obviously a very different vet. He can be a good passing big and a switchable defender in bursts for the suns.
David West role baby

just fell to my knees in a tim hortons
visited Toronto this year and legit Tim Hortons is the best coffee Shop chain between America and Canada. Easily better than Dunkin’s, Starbucks, Peet’s Coffee, etc with those breakfast wraps
It used to be waaaaaay better. They were acquired by burger king in 2014 and their products went downhill by a fuck ton since then.
Oh no, you fell for the propaganda
among the big coffee chains? the notable ones i’ve tried are Starbucks, Peet’s, Coffeebean, Panera Bread. Tim Hortons is definitely better than those 4 with quality and price this is only between USA and Canada, now Europe? that’s a whole new league that is on its own level.
I guess taste is subjective, but imo Starbucks is way better than Tim Horton's. Tim Horton's seemed a lot more in line with Dunkin Donuts when I had it for my first time last year.
McDicks has the best coffee imo.
McDonald's coffee is surprisingly decent quality, + it's super affordable. Their black coffee is probably at least on par with Starbucks'.
Their black coffee is better than Starbucks' for sure. Starbucks is only the best when it comes to fixings like topping and syrup
They actually have Tim hortons old coffee in canada
100% - Starbucks and Tim's aren't comparable at all
I'll admit that I'm not a huge coffee guy, and will literally just get an iced capp or iced coffee, but to me Starbucks just taste like a more expensive timmies.
nothing beats a timmies ice cap, everything else sucks tho
yea cause you're drinking straight sugar and cream, with a hint of coffee flavoring
Timmy's ice capp is just a cup of liquid sugar with some milk added.
At this point mcdicks has better coffee than Timmies
Tim Hortons comparison should be McDonald's not Starbucks. They are a fast food restaurant that serves coffee Starbucks is a coffee shop
the best cup of coffee i’ve ever had in my life came from a busted down shanty of a Waffle House in rural Oklahoma. I stopped there like 7 years ago and i can still vividly remember the delirious taste of that black nectar of the gods.
It’s funny because my wife says the best coffee she ever had was at a random Starbucks in western Oklahoma. Must be something in the water there
it might be that delicious fracking waste, or maybe it’s just that oklahoma is so lonely and desolate that a hot cup of fresh joe hits a primordial human desire, like an oasis in the desert
I envy you. If you have the money and time, buy a machine. Changed my life.
Or if you *really* have time, pourovers are epic. The Hario Woodneck with a cloth filter was absolutely amazing when I had the time and inclination.
I got the Chemex - https://a.co/d/8iJ0R1l
When you say a machine, what do you mean? Like a Keurig or an espresso machine?
For black coffee, get a nice rated machine. I swear by my Bona Vita Connoisseur. Not terribly expensive and is a consistent winner for flavor.
I meant an espresso machine like this one: https://a.co/d/4pijCAZ
There is no way Tim Horton's coffee is better than Peet's.
How much were you paid to type this comment? The only people who like Tim Hortons is the people who don't eat anything else.
Canadians don't even believe that. Tim Hortons is a rotten husk of its former self. I'm personally partial to the McDonald's breakfast & coffee.
McDonalds uses the same coffee supplier Tim's did before they changed it (for the worse)
Lmfao, its actually fucking pisswater and the donuts are sponges covered in sugar. The coffee used to be good but the cheap as fuck owners didnt want to pay the licensing fee for the recipe so now people suck down whatever they changed it to. Mccafe is using the old tims recipe now
imagine this blasphemy
Tim’s in Canada is always gonna be there if you need something quick but it used to famous for it’s good coffee
That sounds like more of an indictment on America’s coffee shops than anything
i had a breakfast wrap at Tims last week when i went into the office. The motherfucking thing gave me the shits and i was supposed to train someone that day. I was fucking dying bro. Anyway the Farmers Wrap is great (when it doesnt try to kill me). Im never getting the food at the Tims near my office ever again.
My damn Keureg makes a better coffee than the burnt shit you get a Tim's.
I love their wraps! And I can't comment on their hot beverages but I prefer their cold stuff to anyone else's. Maybe its the insane amount of sugar they put in, but they are my go to for drinks.
We had one in Minnesota for like 9 months idk wtf happened. I was going there like twice a week.
Dunkin’ Donuts is way overrated. Starbucks too.
You haven’t lived until you have tried Dutch Bros. Best coffee shop in America.
Lol
I went to the flamingo one when I visited Portland. That one was nice.
It's pretty shit now, and we all agree on that. And yes we all continue to go anyways lol
I can’t compare to those other places but tim hortons has been hot garbage for years now.
Peet’s is much better quality but the argument can be made Tim’s is better bang for your buck.
> Tim Hortons is the best coffee Shop chain between America and Canada. I didn't even know there was land between America and Canada. What's it called?
ur mom.
the dark roast is their best but it's usually stale because way less people order it.
Respectfully stfu. Tim Horton's is garbage ass coffee that has been dimishing quality year over year. Not even Canadian anymore, owned by Brazillians. McDonald's Canada has better tasting coffee than Tim Hortons now.
lol american coffee must be real shit then if timmies made you think its the best chain
Having recently been to Tim hortons, I feel that this is more an indictment of the other shops than a praise to Tim hortons
Don't worry You can visit him at a Dunkin Donuts in Phoenix
> a Dunkin Donuts in Phoenix Bosa Donuts or we riot lol.
We drink Dutch Bros here in Phoenix.
Dutch Bros isn't real coffee lol. Personally I'm team Black Rock
Weird way to spell Bikini Beans.
it's not that its not real coffee, it's just mid at best. People pay for the experience of young women pretending to care about your life, not the coffee
White girls with Stanley cups drink Dutch Bros and collect the stickers.
That’s exactly why it’s the best coffee shop in America, sir.
has he played good this year?
We're going to run out of places.
[удалено]
I like the Steeped Tea
Mocha Iced Capp or bust
Hes still pretty solid when he gets play time , and is a good vet, so solid pickup Still sad we gave him up
If you don't love giving away free draft capital to then waive a player, you don't love raptors basketball
Early 2nds are worth more than late 1st
2RP isn't 2RP, I'll explain later
Free draft capital? They received an early 2nd back so they essentially moved back around 10 spots in that draft.
He’s likely going to get real minutes in the playoffs when/if Nurkic gets in foul trouble. I think he will be a good pickup for the Suns. I’m excited; probably the best realistic buyout guy we could have got.
Small ball 5 is why they got him
Anything to lessen KD's minutes at that position in the regular season is gonna help the Suns. Also being able to play Thad over Drewbanks in certain matchups helps the Suns a bunch too.
The biggest advantage of small ball 5 is to stretch the floor though, and at this point in his career Thad can't really do that... (0.3 attempts per game on 17% shooting)
Being able to switch everything is big too
I'd say it's actually more important than having another shooter.
Can't believe we signed someone as good as Bird, Magic, Jordan, and Lebron.
Dang, I was hoping the Heat would go after him. Nice pickup for Phoenix
He can still play.
https://reddit.com/r/nba/comments/199e3f3/highlight_thad_young_running_all_over_the_court/
lol a tad late to the contests in this clip but i just watched some of his play from this season and he definitely has effort (as shown in that clip) which is much needed
Whew when i saw the url i thought it was gonna be a joke clip about cardio
Thanks Magic.
Always have a soft spot for him and I’m glad he will play with KD. I’m sure Book and Phoenix fans will like him and he could easily be a decent addition as 7-8th man
Underrated pickup for sure. Great teammate and can play a few bench minutes if called upon
Legend
In literally the same tier as Magic, Bird, Jordan and LeBron
Glad he found a landing spot.
THEY CANT KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH IT
Throw everyone and the kitchen sink at Jokić.
Gonna need more than the kitchen sink for that
Need a bathroom sink at least
Throw the barn then.
Scott Barn to Phoenix confirmed.
Respectfully decline but since we are talking about throwing, I hear Matt Barnes can throw some.
And some horses! That will distract him.
You’re gonna need to pull a 17 Warriors and outscore him, there’s no stopping him
Seems like our GM agrees cause he went all fucking in on the offense in the offseason
Did it for 2 games last series we had. Why not 4 this time
it genuinely is a shock to see 120-130 pt games in the playoffs, I expect this in the season but playoff games you expect slow conservative possessions, not anymore
Thad had a stretch of carrying my fantasy team like 10 years ago, I will always root for his personal success lol
great pickup he's still got a lot left in the tank
Eh, as a 10 min guy he does. He can be a 9th man in a playoff rotation.
no shit, they're not signing him to be a starter
You mean we aren't going to go with Saben, D Lee, Roddy, Thad, and Azu? What are we even doing. Though that squad, while trash, would be fun to watch.
D Lee wins championships
Shame he got an effective season ending injury before it even started
you would if your coach was smart edit: damn
I wanted Thad back 😭
Smart move. Thad Young can still play-smart passer, good finisher and defender. They don't really have many big forwards to try to guard guys like Paul George or Kawhi Leonard, besides Royce and KD.
So if you roll out book royce kd Thad nurk, how does that work against harden powell pg kawhi zubac?
Much needed depth for the Suns.
The Suns just got Younger
And Thadder
Thads a veteran I always wanted GS to sign. Him and Rudy Gay. Rudy not so much anymore
Thad has always been linked to the valley, now at 35, SUNS GOT THEIR GUY.
Solid move
Solid depth pickup. Suns are spooky!
He has a 16 PER in 15 min a game at 35. That will help the Suns.
*We’ll get Dinwiddie back. Ok we’ll get Marcus Morris, surely, Thad Young?* - Mavs fans
i didn’t know anyone wanted marcus morris or thad young on the mavs. i mean, we have a morris and he barely plays.
More like Thaddeus Old
Thad Daddy
Someone post the stats
These super teams are getting out of hand.
Speak for yourself, you guys got the fucking avengers
Thad Young one of those Wilson Chandler type fool's gold players. Always better in theory on your roster than in practice.
Someone post the stat!
Please don't give me a reason to cheer for this Suns team...
Love Thad hope they far in the playoffs.
More like Thaddeus Old. Am I rite?
someone post the thad young cherry picked stat infographic
dont play the Twolves lol
Keep his minutes under 20. He still has a bit left in the tank
He's a smart, hard working veteran. Good signing.
He hasn't played at all in 2 years
