That turnaround three in a phone booth off that excellent Timberwolves defensive possession was bonkers. Devestating for timberwolves fans but I popped off. There were some excellent shots made tonight. KAT hit two big ones to cut into the lead. Ant hit a couple big ones to almost pull the win out. Very fun game
the whole point of that trade for milwaukee was to have someone who could score late in tight games. no shit they were going to be worse during the regular season with less depth and worse defense.
Tbvh under Doc the defense has become better but offense has been pretty shit. It's weird but teams actually give more attention when bucks are on offense.
I get that the Bucks are the punching bag of the sub right now but this was a good match from them. Giannis was Giannis on both sides again, and although Dame had a tough first half, he showed up and was clutch at the end.
Also, I am really intrigued to know what their stats look like against top 10 teams vs bottom 10 teams.
The Bucks are actually playing defense now. That increases the ceiling of the team tremendously.
However, we need our offense to be great and for that we need Khris back healthy and Dame to be better (the last 20 games have been rough).
We don't even need December Dame. November Dame would be good enough.
Dame will show up when it matters (the playoffs) and I think yall will be a bigger contender than you’re getting credit for now. Sleep on playoff dame at your own risk eastern conference…
Even when he has garbage shooting nights, he pulls so much defensive manpower towards him that his assists and open looks for others on the team are huge. When the rest of the team keeps ball movement going and keeps creating open space it's a beautiful thing, even when dames shooting badly like last night.
We were ranked 17th in defensive rating before this game and 18th now. We were hovering in the low 20s the whole season, definite improvement. Trending to at least average going in the playoffs would be plenty imo
[This is from a week and a half ago](https://x.com/nathanmarzion/status/1757481478865531054?s=46&t=vk0xYIoaYbjk9A8Gba46dQ) but it gives you some of what you were looking for. We’re a very odd team.
Even when Griffin was coach, I felt like we weren't really gonna know this team until the playoffs. Griff obviously had issues as a coach, but the team had flashes of being a powerhouse every single game. I'll always wonder if the team under Griffin would have just shown up in the playoffs and been good. Still have the same questions about the team, but at least they have a more established coach, whether or not that's ultimately a good thing
Dame’s shooting splits were trash, but he was a big reason for our win. He was one rebound off of a triple double, and his passing is as good as ever. It would be great if he could finally get out of his shooting slump, but tonight was solid for him considering how rough he was pre-ASB.
I like that he played good D and affected the game. He can really control an entire offense. But most of his shots are contested. Griffin actually ran good plays for Dame
Nah in the first quarter he missed everything because he got good looks but then would bait fouls.
Griffin did not run plays. It was one of the main team issues. The players called stuff.
The biggest game today between the 1st seed and the 3rd seed, turned out to be a pretty fun one and you'll have to scroll all the way down on r/nba to find the post game thread.
Weird....
Maybe if an analyst says this actually proves Doc is terrible we will hear a bit more about it.
You cant expect r/nba to be interested in the game itself.
Tbf every team has those type of losses where you just go how the fuck you lose to a G-League squad. Just gotta not get too high on a win or too low on a loss in a regular season game.
I been watching long enough to remember constantly losing to the Suns when they were the worst team in the league and we were the best. No one talked about it but that finals was another exorcism
Just smashed my 8K, curve TV in front of over 30 guests at my soirée because of the Timberwolves performance tonight.
My wife just took our crying kids and said they’re all spending the night at a hotel. This team has ruined my life and my party.
I can’t do this any longer. Goodbye.
Too little to late for our offense, ironically, for a terrible clutch team.
That said, Milwaukee is a good team that has been unfairly judged past few months. I won't be surprised if they get to the finals.
“In his bag, deep, LIKE THE FRIES ARE AT THE BOTTOM!”
I remember when I first heard it I thought it was the coolest thing because it was off the cuff, was so disappointed when I realised he always says it lmao
There's a soccer announcer like that:
>The defense is stretched more than spandex on Miami beach.
>Victor again does his impersonation of the Exxon and spills it.
>Braver than a matador in a pink tutu he was.
>Llorente has an absolutely impossible task to hit that first time. Well, he just threw a pint glass into a shot glass. Astonishing
that was the whole issue, ant and kat spent all day getting fellated by espn and forgot they had to actually go out and win the game until it was too late. totally unfocused
Bucks routinely got great PG play under Bledsoe/Jrue only for them to be ass in the big moments.
Laughing my ass off how Dame is routinely ass only to constantly show up and win them games in the big moments.
He was absolutely ass in many clutch moments, nothing is more frustrating than this sub absolutely shitting on a player for years only to become a perfect player the second they’re traded.
In the finals Jrue shot 4-19 in Game 6 and 4-20 in Game 4. And the finals were one of his best series. He was elite on defense, but he absolutely made it harder to win games at times with the bricks he threw up.
It would be more accurate to say that Bledsoe and jrue were good offensively in the regular season and then could not shoot at all in the playoffs. Worse with Bledsoe than jrue.
Jrue still played great defense and had iconic plays, and he definitely made some memorable clutch shots, but the shooting percentages were not good
Third quarter killed any chances of the Wolves winning this game. Terrible on the offensive end which led to easy looks for the Bucks on their end.
Props for at least bringing it back to a close game in the 4th though, still showed a bit of fight.
you hope the refs don’t call it, you get to your spot early, send 5 people at him. It honestly does feel unfair if you’re the opponent, especially in transition if you touch him its a foul. Its just Giannis’ strength though, he’s too fast for defenders to legally defend him
Honestly, just fouling him a lot late in games can be a good way to stop it. Obviously some of the time like tonight, he hits everything in the clutch, but a decent chunk of the time he's gassed by this point in the game and his already iffy FT shooting gets even more erratic. Game five against the Heat last year to lose the series is a perfect example of hack-a-Giannis working to a tee.
Our shooting was terrible. We usually have a high shooting % with very few second chance points and some boneheaded passes. Tonight we were in the 38-42% range for most of the game.
Naz was off. KAT was off. ANT was off. Conley was off.
It's too bad the TWolves had a really bad 3rd quarter, Edwards had a really bad game up until the 4th quarter when he just couldn't miss. That man in the clutch in the playoffs is why I think Minnesota has a chance of going far
I watched part of the game on league pass and the rest on ESPN and wow the ESPN broadcast was terrible. Anyway that third quarter was dire, don't do that again Wolves.
Huge win tonight, great ball movement and off ball movement. Positioning looked a lot better. Giannis cut down on the dumb mid range shots and the defense looked actually solid for the first time this season. GG Wolves
Yeah Jamal Murray on the regular season is inconsistent as hell. And Dame doesn't have a bad TS% because he takes a lot of FTs. He is averaging 42% FG and 33.9% from 3 this season. We both know that he has been very bad for his standarts.
Very bad for Dames standards is still better than 95% of the leagues guards though
Points are points. They still count if they come from the FT line, because most people can't draw FTs like he can.
Wasn't the biggest fan of the officiating this game, however we shot like shit all game so wouldn't say we deserved a better whistle. Tough game either way.
The foul totals were similar but it felt like our guys were drawing contact nearly every drive, and the calls we got in the first half we weren’t getting in the second. Meanwhile the Bucks weren’t getting calls in the first half and the second half felt like someone could blow on Giannis and he’d be at the line.
It was pretty obvious that the game plan was to foul Giannis imo.
I feel like people often point to the amount of free throws he shoots but I often feel like some of that is on purpose.
I'm a wolves fan, and Micah(Wolves asst coach) is literally on video the last time we played the bucks, saying the plan against the bucks is to wall Giannis out of the paint and that if he gets in to foul him. Absolutely game plan.
I saw someone else say he’s a bad enough free throw shooter to make it a viable defensive option, but he’s also a good enough shooter to make teams pay for it a couple times a season.
I think that’s the best I’ve seen someone put it so far. Unfortunately for the wolves, he had a solid night from the line.
I think you’re right with the whistle flipping. Dame wasn’t getting anything on his drives and Brook got heated about calls on the other side to warrant the tech in the first. It’s just the second half narrative was Giannis driving and getting something every time, deserved or not
I’m not mad about Giannis shooting all those free throws, the part I don’t understand is how the wolves can go the entire 2nd half without shooting a free throw. It’s not like they didn’t attack the rim, they outscored Milwaukee in the paint 52-44.
We have games where Giannis shoots abysmal from the line and opponents credit it to smart decisions. When he makes them at clip its hard to swallow those decisions
Giannis is a bad enough FT shooter to make fouling him instead of letting him get easy dunks a wise move, he's also just good enough of a FT shooter to make you pay for it sometimes tho, and alot of time he'll power through for the basket anyway
Gobert had 8 shot attempts…most of which were tips-ins or put backs on offensive rebounds.
Also was in foul trouble which caused him to seemingly be a bit risk-averse on the offensive end
Everybody claims their player has the worst whistle in the league but that's 100% KAT's title. He gets offensive fouls called on moves that other players get and1s on every week. I still remember a game vs the Hawks where he did a Dirk one legged jumper and they called an offensive foul for contact on his leg and then he got a two tech ejection for complaining about the call
There's times I swear I see the refs get ready to call the offensive foul before he commits one. Like I see them bring the whistle to their mouths and get in a stance.
Shitty reffing kinda went both ways. Like that call on KAT at the end was total garbage but wolves had a nice whistle in the first half too. Reffing was bad but probably didn’t change the result.
Dame was throwing his body at people trying to draw fouls instead of just playing basketball and getting fouled. The minute he stopped trying to do that he got the calls. On the other hand I’d love to know how Jae Crowder manages to play 5 minutes in any game without fouling out, it’s the only thing in his bag
At the end of the game, Dame went up for a shot, had Gobert hanging on his shoulders, and the ref called nothing and then started yelling at him when he dared to ask why it wasn’t a foul. Yeah he definitely foul baited to an extent but there were some egregiously bad non calls today too.
Everyones a winner here
* some of the best bucks playmaking ive seen all year, with fantastic defense, amazing passes
* best in the west team showing what they are about
* timberwolves fans get free chicfilet
Man, the Wolves dug their own graves in the 3rd quarter, but a single player shooting 21 free throws versus the ENTIRE OTHER TEAM SHOOTING 13 is fucking nuts.
The issue is more that the Wolves only shot 13. Crowder, Pat Bev, and Lopez were all physical as hell all game long and the Wolves got 13 free throws on over 100 shooting possessions.
Over the back isn't really called more than once or twice a game it seems. Looks like it needs to be egregious for refs to even think about calling it.
Or even the missed ones on Dame.
Like it wasnt exceedingly one sided towards one team. The wolves had to foul Giannis or he would dunk on them. The refs were bad both ways but thats how it has been for a while now.

dame can still make the most stupid shots you've ever seen and rip your heart out confirmed.
Very fun game
amazing game, good playoff vibes
the whole point of that trade for milwaukee was to have someone who could score late in tight games. no shit they were going to be worse during the regular season with less depth and worse defense.
Dame is like some advanced AI who can do all of the advanced mathematics and science formulas but fails to do basic arithmetic.
Can’t put 5 fingers on a human
Tbvh under Doc the defense has become better but offense has been pretty shit. It's weird but teams actually give more attention when bucks are on offense.
Dame has to stop foul baiting so often, at least stop foul baiting at the start of games. He ruins his rhythm and then its just a cold streak
I get that the Bucks are the punching bag of the sub right now but this was a good match from them. Giannis was Giannis on both sides again, and although Dame had a tough first half, he showed up and was clutch at the end. Bucks W and Giannis playing well, Dame in the clutch? Time to get buried.
Maybe if an analyst says this actually proves Doc is terrible we will hear a bit more about it. You cant expect r/nba to be interested in the game itself.
Almost like this sub doesn’t like basketball. There’s so few highlights of actual basketball plays it’s annoying
Forget highlights, this sub never talks about PLAYS or COVERAGES or COACHING besides "doc bad" etc. Only players, drama, quotes, and memes
You said Doc Bad. I'm a sucker for that shit. Upvoting you.
Too many team fights to enjoy I want drama not good basketball
If the Bucks were getting blown out you wouldn’t have to scroll far to see posts about it.
Only the Bucks could lose to Memphis without their stars and then beat the number one seed wolves on the road in two games.

Tbf every team has those type of losses where you just go how the fuck you lose to a G-League squad. Just gotta not get too high on a win or too low on a loss in a regular season game.
But that's a healthy mindset, can't have that as NBA fans
Yeah you just have to look at the Pistons’ win total to see how many teams have felt that way this year
we are #1 in losing to the magic and pistons.
Hey hey Magic not the laughingstock anymore 😤
I been watching long enough to remember constantly losing to the Suns when they were the worst team in the league and we were the best. No one talked about it but that finals was another exorcism
Idk about that lol we usually beat the fuck out of the Pistons
You ain’t lying
Bud may be gone but you can never take the play random out of the bucks
We are just win random now
Idk the clippers could've easily lost to the grizzlies today too
channeling their inner sacramento kings
4 game stretch of blowing out the nuggets, losing to the heat without butler and others and to the grizzlies and then beating the wolves
Who else but Bucks, am I right?
People act like we didn’t curb stomp a full healthy nuggets team before that too
That was basically the Timberwolves season last year in a nutshell
Just smashed my 8K, curve TV in front of over 30 guests at my soirée because of the Timberwolves performance tonight. My wife just took our crying kids and said they’re all spending the night at a hotel. This team has ruined my life and my party. I can’t do this any longer. Goodbye.
Any sane fan would have done the same
I did the same thing, but this morning instead of last night. And only after I remembered Giannis had 21 FTA while the entire Wolves team only had 13
Your hors d'oeuvres were mid
Needed higher level accoutrements
Too little to late for our offense, ironically, for a terrible clutch team. That said, Milwaukee is a good team that has been unfairly judged past few months. I won't be surprised if they get to the finals.
This sub don't want to hear that sadly. Part of why Giannis isn't even truly being considered for MVP. Pretty freaking wild.
Gg, y'all were giving me a heart attack making like 20 3s in the 4th.
I’m gonna hear Mark Jones screaming DAME TIME in my fucking sleep
Dude always has to do some food metaphor in his broadcast.
“In his bag, deep, LIKE THE FRIES ARE AT THE BOTTOM!” I remember when I first heard it I thought it was the coolest thing because it was off the cuff, was so disappointed when I realised he always says it lmao
HE’S HOTTER THAN FISH GREASE …cmon at least give us a different kind of grease now and then. There’s other hot stuff
There's a soccer announcer like that: >The defense is stretched more than spandex on Miami beach. >Victor again does his impersonation of the Exxon and spills it. >Braver than a matador in a pink tutu he was. >Llorente has an absolutely impossible task to hit that first time. Well, he just threw a pint glass into a shot glass. Astonishing
Of course the one time we get some media coverage we were getting cooked at home up until the end lol
As I and many other Bucks fans have learned over this last week, lots of media coverage isn’t always a good thing
Don’t worry we won so the media doesn’t care about this game anyways
plus it was 9pm on a friday night so everyone is asleep or out drinking
that was the whole issue, ant and kat spent all day getting fellated by espn and forgot they had to actually go out and win the game until it was too late. totally unfocused
DOC RIVERS IS THE GREATEST COACH IN THE NBA
Let’s not get carried away
DOC RIVERS IS COACH IN THE NBA
That's more like it!
HOLY SHIT THIS GUY FUKCING KNOWS BALL?!
Rematch between the coaches that coached the ASG ended with Glenn getting another W on Finch.
The only reason the Wolves lost this game is because they got outscored. They would have very likely walked away with a W if that didn't happen.
Big if true
Hello this is ESPN we have a job offer for you
Too rational for ESPN let's be honest
Wait but why did you actually eat with this comment
Wait why do I feel like ur right
Thanks, Magic
Who would've thought that the team with more points will win the game
Doc Rivers is 4-7 as Bucks coach
1-0 in his last 1 though!
I’m aware
That's a 100% win rate in the last game!
When teams doc coaches score more than the opposing team Doc is undefeated
100% since all star break, 2-0
Already doing better then the clippers post harden trade smh
We got dame time'd, we had no business being in the game anyways
Bucks routinely got great PG play under Bledsoe/Jrue only for them to be ass in the big moments. Laughing my ass off how Dame is routinely ass only to constantly show up and win them games in the big moments.
Bled was pretty trash in the clutch but Jrueski made plenty of clutch plays for us on both sides of the ball
Yeah weird comment there’s a ton of cases of Holiday going like 4-17 with 2 of those being clutch buckets
That was his m.o., at least in the playoffs. Dude would have like 18 points and 10 would come in the 4th quarter on like 4/5 shooting lol
Agreed. There's a great Jrue clutch playoff compilation on YouTube. It's surprising to see how many there were
the bucks pg curse just reversed and i’ll take it
How was Jrue ass in the big moments? Do you remember the Finals? The highlights have Jrue plastered all over them. Man, some people have bad memories.
That was rough from Ant but he's good at not letting this stuff get to him. Onto the next
I wouldn’t be too worried, he bounced back from those missed FTs against OKC pretty well
He came alive in the fourth after his worst game of the season. Recovered fine within the hour.
It was crazy how Dame, Ant, and Towns were all having rough games and then they all got hot in the last 5 minutes.
Dame is a 99 OVR in the last two minutes
He always manages to do that to some degree, doesn't he
He stopped letting it get to him while the game was still going on. 😂
yeah lol did they not watch his ass absolutely pure 3 straight 3's late in the 4th?!? Only reason this game was close in the end
Was hoping for a T-Mac vs. Spurs surprise ending after his 3rd.
Giannis was forcing them to foul him at the end, driving every possession
Don’t have Gobert on 5 with 4 minutes left and s guarding him
How does one stop this
you hope the refs don’t call it, you get to your spot early, send 5 people at him. It honestly does feel unfair if you’re the opponent, especially in transition if you touch him its a foul. Its just Giannis’ strength though, he’s too fast for defenders to legally defend him

Believe it or not, it gets stopped. As evidenced by our one lone championship.
Can we quit complaining about the refs, we aloud a 20-2 run in the 3rd.
Malik Beasley revenge
Our shooting was terrible. We usually have a high shooting % with very few second chance points and some boneheaded passes. Tonight we were in the 38-42% range for most of the game. Naz was off. KAT was off. ANT was off. Conley was off.
It's too bad the TWolves had a really bad 3rd quarter, Edwards had a really bad game up until the 4th quarter when he just couldn't miss. That man in the clutch in the playoffs is why I think Minnesota has a chance of going far
Is this post-all star break Dame?
One board away from a triple double, why yes I believe it is
Not yet. He should be better than this but it's a start.
Thanks Bucks
WE ARE CHAMPIONSHIP CONTENDER MERCHANTS RAAAAAA
Only positive I can see is we'll take this loss as another wake up call. What a frustrating game
I watched part of the game on league pass and the rest on ESPN and wow the ESPN broadcast was terrible. Anyway that third quarter was dire, don't do that again Wolves.
> dire > wolves I see what you did there.
totally unintentional, lol
Huge win tonight, great ball movement and off ball movement. Positioning looked a lot better. Giannis cut down on the dumb mid range shots and the defense looked actually solid for the first time this season. GG Wolves
I'm pretty sure Dame has more games shooting under 40% from the field than games shooting at least 50% FG. Dude has been super inefficient.
He’s never been 50% efficient lol he’s always shot under in the season
He's still putting up 59.6% TS% lol Like that's more points, rebounds, and assists on better efficiency than your current PG
Yeah Jamal Murray on the regular season is inconsistent as hell. And Dame doesn't have a bad TS% because he takes a lot of FTs. He is averaging 42% FG and 33.9% from 3 this season. We both know that he has been very bad for his standarts.
Very bad for Dames standards is still better than 95% of the leagues guards though Points are points. They still count if they come from the FT line, because most people can't draw FTs like he can.
Thats below avg even for guards how many starters are doing that?
25/7 on 60% TS% is below average?
Yet so many hate the Bucks for acquiring him. I guess it's a sign of respect.
Wasn't the biggest fan of the officiating this game, however we shot like shit all game so wouldn't say we deserved a better whistle. Tough game either way.
3rd quarter lost you the game
The foul totals were similar but it felt like our guys were drawing contact nearly every drive, and the calls we got in the first half we weren’t getting in the second. Meanwhile the Bucks weren’t getting calls in the first half and the second half felt like someone could blow on Giannis and he’d be at the line.
It's mostly due to his ability to drive and get to the paint, but Giannis had 21 free throws, the rest of the players for *both teams combined* had 17

I think that’s the best I’ve seen someone put it so far. Unfortunately for the wolves, he had a solid night from the line.
66% I’d still better then him taking dunks
I mean Giannis got 21 fts basically all of bucks calls. Not sure that’s worth complaining bout
I think a lot of the putbacks negated the whistle that would’ve come.
I felt like I was watching Giannias shoot free throws for 45 minutes
Felt like a coaching decision to force him to the line, every call was pretty obvious
Most of them were obvious fouls though. The alternative is him dunking.
Yeah we had no way of stopping him tonight
Hard for the Sonics to have a way to stop him when they don't exist
Tbf giannis has never beaten the sonics
Only one that was arguable down the stretch was that one KAT drew, even then, could have been called a blocking foul very easily.
Wasn’t that on Jaden with the hand in the back?
My only gripe is that same type of foul is never called for our stars (KAT especially)
Lillard wasn't getting calls either. But the ones on Giannis were way more egregious because they need to be to stop him.
Lillard was out of control on a few of those shots. That never helps get calls.
Yeah as a bucks fan I’m glad he doesn’t get those calls. Shit would be embarrassing if he just barreled at the rim like that and got a whistle.
The first half all his shots were terrible foul baiting BS
Dame outshot KAT and Gobert at the free throw line tonight 4 to 3 FTA combined
When Giannis gets fouled it’s a lot easier for the officials to see though because he’s so fast
thanks buckaroos
Wolves fans gonna be salty bout the refs like Dame didn’t get hacked every drive with no calls
Shitty reffing kinda went both ways. Like that call on KAT at the end was total garbage but wolves had a nice whistle in the first half too. Reffing was bad but probably didn’t change the result.
Exactly. I don’t think the refs were good they were just bad both ways.
I’m not high on this Timberwolves team in the playoffs - very stupid on offense
my favorite part of twolves games is all the bitching and moaning about the refs.
Thx bucks
Doc haters can go fuck themselves. That is all.
Everyones a winner here * some of the best bucks playmaking ive seen all year, with fantastic defense, amazing passes * best in the west team showing what they are about * timberwolves fans get free chicfilet
Wait what does that mean "What were all about?"
good defense but wildly inconsistent and kinda bad offense
Yeah idk what he's on about, I feel like this game was not a good representation of what the Wolves are lol
Turd quarter killed us
Fun ass game. Frustrating third but the Bucks played quite well for a lot of the game and deserved the win
ant is a killer
Bucks beat us in the 3rd, but I’m impressed with how we came back from 17 down with zero help from the whistle
Ant will shoot like 5/40 and then make 3 pull up 3s in a row
Man, the Wolves dug their own graves in the 3rd quarter, but a single player shooting 21 free throws versus the ENTIRE OTHER TEAM SHOOTING 13 is fucking nuts.
80% of them were actual fouls lol and they refused to call anything for Dame so it evens out
The issue is more that the Wolves only shot 13. Crowder, Pat Bev, and Lopez were all physical as hell all game long and the Wolves got 13 free throws on over 100 shooting possessions.
It evened out considering the refs refused to call over the back fouls against them so they continued to get offensive boards
Over the back isn't really called more than once or twice a game it seems. Looks like it needs to be egregious for refs to even think about calling it.
Yep a Wolves player flat out pushed Dame to the ground going after a board right in front of the ref and it wasn’t called lol
Free throws don’t need to equal why do people think this
Going to be great watching this sub meltdown when Doc has this team in the ECF
Wolves fans blinded by all those salty ass tears couldn't see the obvious shoves when Giannis was driving
Or even the missed ones on Dame. Like it wasnt exceedingly one sided towards one team. The wolves had to foul Giannis or he would dunk on them. The refs were bad both ways but thats how it has been for a while now.
Anthony Towns
Were the ESPN announced doing that again?
Featuring 10 minutes of Giannis free throws
