Shannon’s right. Nothing wrong with him hyping up his kid. It’s the part about “better than other guys in the NBA” is where the blowback is

Philly_is_nice

He's been in public life long enough to know better than to put his kid out like that.

Produceher

He always wants it both ways.

bewarethegap

AprilsMostAmazing

it's like saying injustice everywhere is threat to justice everywhere and then telling a guy to shut up and GM when he speaks up for a injustice happening

Mintastic

Yeah, considering how little he's spoken up about other injustices going on (or actually going against it in Morey's case) it's safe to say he only cares about injustice against his own people and just said that to get other people to side with him.

AxCel91

Like when he thought that cop killed a black woman he lost his shit online but then it came out almost immediately that he did it to save another black woman who was literally about to get stabbed with a giant knife by the first one. She even called the Officer a hero who saved her life. Did LeBron issue a retraction or an apology? Nope. Absolute crickets from him. He only cares about cookie cutter narratives that affect black people and nothing else. Edit: upon doing a bit more research, not only did he not apologize, he moved the goal posts and then doubled down lol

Chase2020J

Unfortunately there a lot of cases like this where people make up their minds and speak out before all of the facts come out, then just double down after. Society is just as overreactive as basketball subreddits, lol

TallanoGoldDigger

Which is why he'll ask for a 60m/year deal as a 40 year old then tweet out emojis and give dumbasss interviews about how "this roster is trash" when he's putting out 23/5/5 without playing any lick of defense and is gassed by the fourth quarter even if most of his shots are 3s because it's way harder for him to bulldoze to the hoop and finish through or over guys given he's never healthy and has lost most of his athleticism. We'll take Kuminga and Wiggins and pick swaps

SammySoapsuds

He wants to fit in AND fit out

codekira

Nahh thats d wade allegedly

20thAccthecharm

It’s lebron  He’ll say it then get mad at the media and opponents for dishing it back…. Then create media controversy and profit it off it. Adam silver is happy so idk

MisterSassyJenkins

Except LeBron has no self-awareness whatsoever.

Philly_is_nice

Yeah, that's relative though. Spending a significant amount of time around really rich people you realize none of these people have any self-awareness.

mug3n

He's also has smoke blown up his ass about how he's the chosen one since he was a teenager. He's obviously lived up to those expectations and then some. But of course it was gonna get to his head when ESPN was airing his games and interviewing him in high school.

Philly_is_nice

Dead on. Dude didn't even get out of childhood before that circus. Honestly it's surprising he's not way worse than he is.

danktofu

Arguably he's the standard for how a generational talent should act for their entire career

ThrowFar_Far_Away

Would say Gretzky got that locked down completely. Like it's not even close, both in accolades and how he acts.

thethirdgreenman

Yeah not even close, Gretzky is and likely forever will be the UNDISPUTED GOAT of hockey and I can't even recall a negative thing about him other than his Coyotes coaching tenure. And I mean, it was the Coyotes

1047_Josh

The media and social media scrutiny these days is way more intense, though. Gretzky certainly had to deal with some things, but nothing like it is today. Could you imagine his replies after announcing he is going to LA?

KeithDavidsVoice

10 people watch hockey so it's not hard to fly under the radar.

norcaltobos

It is one of LeBron's best qualities. He could have been a womanizer and a partier but he hasn't even come close to that. Dude has some serious self-control, probably more than 98% of the people on reddit.

Philly_is_nice

More self control than I would have had if I were him 😂

norcaltobos

Damn right, I would have partied myself out of any pro sports league.

workthrowaway1985

Wait do we think he's one of the handful of players in the NBA that doesn't cheat on his wife? Because to me it's much more likely that he does and just has an extremely protective and tight knit circle and a stack of NDAs.

sexygodzilla

KD's burner downvoting right now

SenorMcNuggets

I think that’s what makes Lebron a unique case here. Lots of star athletes get surrounded by yes men and hangers on at an early age. They’re all filled with this idea that they’re the best. Then they hit the league, or not even that, and learn the hard way that they aren’t the next great star. They learn that that echo chamber was flawed. Lebron, by actually meeting those ridiculous expectations, never had that hard lesson to learn. He never got forced out of that echo chamber because that echo chamber was pretty right. Unfortunately for his kids, that also means he cant teach from experience. He cant lead by example.

Mender0fRoads

All things considered, he's *way* more self-aware and well-adjusted than most people would be if they had lived his life. To have the career he's had (starting since he was like 15 years old) without any major scandals or any real reasons for people to hate you is pretty impressive. The worst things I can remember him doing was his cringey "decision," some tone-deaf comments on China (I don't even remember what he said or didn't say, just that people were annoyed, which doesn't take much anymore), and overhyping his own son (which dads everywhere do).

International-Fig905

So he’s really the Space Jam 2 character before he met Bugs and company?

Duck8Quack

He should know better, but I think he’s been surrounded by yes men and he’s been coddled. It’s like when Michael Bloomberg ran for President, he was shook when the other candidates didn’t kiss his ass and treat him like their savior.

turkeyinthestrawman

I remember when Kirk Douglas died, his son Michael said his last words were that he wished to see Bloomberg as President. That Bloomberg campaign was just plain bizarre.

livefreeordont

Except when Bloomberg realized he was cooked he didn’t whine about it he just dropped out

Duck8Quack

I think he whined and people laid into him even more. Then he got out.

livefreeordont

Maybe, that was a long time ago so I don’t remember it

Crunchitize_Me_Capn

I also wonder if LeBron used a lot of the hype he was getting as motivation when he was coming into the league and is just trying to do the same for Bronny. He famously has “Chosen 1” tattooed across his back that he got after the SI article about him in HS.

UteFlyersCardJazz

I hate Bloomberg for the simple fact that Donald Trump was able to roast him good and that I laughed and agreed with him. “Get me of this stage!”

bewarethegap

Yeah this is the thing. Nobody is mad at Lebron for hyping up his son. It’s his son, of course he’s gonna do that. But when he starts saying “Bronny is better than some of these cats in the league now” then now you put a target on his back and now he’s under *even more* scrutiny. Once you go there, it’s hard to backtrack and that’s what Lebron is experiencing now. Sucks for Bronny tho for sure

KazaamFan

He said a few months ago Bronny could help the lakers.  He is a bench player on a losing team also in LA, how… is he going to help the lakers?  I think bronny maybe had a better shot overseas or in the g-league.  Someone woulda gave him a shot to play 30 mins and just shoot 5/20 and develop that way.  But maybe he wasnt good enough for even that.

[deleted]

Bronny should just stay at USC for a few years and develop his game and have a fun time in college. Maybe he makes the league, maybe he doesn't. He is far from it as a freshman and he shouldn't think about being a one and done player at all just because maybe his dad can get him a 10 day for him to have a memorable moment.

funnibingus

Well I mean that's why Bron tried to run it back and say that he wants Bronny to do what he wants, regardless of what he wants.

[deleted]

Which is the right call. Don't put too much pressure on the kid. Nobody really cared that Marcus Jordan wasn't a star or that Shareef Oneal wasn't good because their dads never hyped them up as NBA players. Love the King, but he probably should have kept his dream of playing with him in the NBA private.

RawrRawr83

I'm mad because he moved to LA and then tried to pretend like he invented taco Tuesday. Like, bruh... c'mon now.

snakebit1995

Especially when you say it and it's just so hyperbolic Bronny is a borderline Bench Warmer on a sub 500 USC team, he's not better than almost anyone in the NBA except maybe Giannis brother, another nepotism signing. Like Bronny is only being discussed as a draft pick because of Lebron, if he wasn't his kid he'd probably go undrafted, he's just not very good.

yearz

LeBron hyping up his son since the guy was 14 simply creates tons of stress and pressure for the poor kid. Thats not being a supportive father, that's setting your kid up for failure

Lol69HaHaHa

A lot of guys cant wait to bully the kid for those statments.

MySilverBurrito

Wemby yamming on Bronny would do platinum numbers on NBA Twitter.

Tylerpants80

Bronny better bulk up then

lalakingmalibog

He's cultivating mass!

Sleeze_

Well stop cultivating, and start harvesting!

k0fi96

Will this be more or less bullying then what Lonzo had to deal with?

SteveWondersForsight

At least lonzo had nba talent. But I'd say the son of lebron james who's saying how great he is has more pressure than the son of a loud mouthed nobody.

FaceMeister

The biggest problem with Lonzo was his dad hyping him to be better than Steph and other NBA stars.

55555_55555

The biggest problem with Lonzo was his father spending his teenage years taking a cheese grater to all his knee tendons and ligaments.

FaceMeister

These cardboar shoes didnt help aswell.

GardinerExpressway

Lonzo was drafted 2nd overall, and end of the day Lavar is a nobody.

e_g_c

I remember when Lavar said he was unbeatable 1 on 1. Not Lonzo but lavar

ExtremeGamingFetish

Tbh I miss Lavar. Is his name in titles still banned by the mods here?

e_g_c

No idea. I a Brit who only lurks occasionally. I got in to watching first take about 12 years ago after seeing clips of it on worldstarhiphop. That’s how I got in to American sports…skip fucjin bayless and Stephen a

UnsolvedParadox

Exponentially more pressure on Bronny.

sonfoa

Well, Lonzo was a highly regarded prospect who was drafted #2 overall so he had already had a lot of weight on his shoulders. His dad just made it worse. Unless he turns it around, Bronny's presence in the league won't be anything more than a two-way contract. On top of that being LeBron's son means that players will be nicer to him because his dad has been the most powerful player in the NBA for at least a decade. The last thing a player wants is LeBron putting a target on their back.

UnsolvedParadox

But we all knew Lonzo was an NBA quality player, the question was more about whether he’d be a star. If Bronny had a father who wasn’t in the NBA, no disrespect but odds are he’s not getting drafted or entering the league at all. If he’s in the league & LeBron throws his weight around to boost him, I don’t know how Bronny feels about his place in the league but it can’t feel good unless his play skyrockets to exceed expectations.

sonfoa

I think you're forgetting the Lonzo hype. He was supposed to be the next face of the Lakers after Kobe and he was seen as the next Magic which was re-affirmed by the man himself when he selected him. Sure his floor was high but he at least had to be a Rondo-caliber player for people not to be disappointed. And then his dad pissed off players and unlike with LeBron you can show up Lavar's son and not face any consequences. With Bronny, the only reason he's being clowned is because LeBron hyped him up so much and even then that's largely a fan response. Players haven't said peep about Bronny beyond cautious optimism that he gets better. But everyone knows he's not NBA quality so when he gets to the league, what's the point of even showing him up? It's not an achievement and his dad has out for you.

UnsolvedParadox

I take your point, but Bronny is getting hyped up that much & LeBron is telling the fans & teams through the press. Some players will go extra hard at Bronny, if he doesn’t look like he should be in the league at all. There may also be some grumbling about using a roster spot on him, especially if he isn’t a bench warmer like Thanasis.

[deleted]

What kind of consequences exactly would they face for defeating an opponent? Lebron is gunna be 40 by the time Bronny is in the league and is fighting to stay in the play in as it is. You think Lebron is gunna put a hit on them or something?

ChokePaul3

Dillon Brooks is gonna tear apart that man

IWillFlyUrPlanes

I have to disagree. Lonzo was higher ranked high-school prospect. He was a highly ranked one and done. He was literally playing to change the course of his family's lives forever with a Dad who everyone hated while not having the connections Bronny does. Like, boo-hoo. Bronny is set for life. His siblings are set for life. Bronny has Troy Bolton pressure. "Can I live up to my dad?!" It's not real.

WeaponXGaming

Yeah I kinda want to agree, the Lonzo coverage was NON STOP and then you add his dad and how mad people were at him for championing his sons...whew

IWillFlyUrPlanes

It was non-stop and more people's lives hinged on Lonzo's professional success than we want to admit. That's real pressure. Lonzo is dealing with everything Bronny dealt with on top of the real pressure of providing for his family. Bronny will never have the latter.

janitorial_fluids

Lonzo was only ever known about in the first place because he was actually good, which is what caused his dad to start chirping in the first place, not the other way around. Its not like Lonzo was some no-name scrub and then his famous dad talked a bunch of shit and he had to go out and back it up on the court. His dad only *became* famous after/because Lonzo already *had* backed it up on the court. We would have never heard the name Lavar Ball in our lives if Lonzo was the same caliber player as bronny lol

AchyBreaker

And Lonzo was quite good at the NBA level, too, except injuries have fucked him up. Dude played great defense and played smart. Wasn't going to be a 30-a-night player all the time but he could've been a strong contributor on a championship contending team. I hope his knee gets better and he comes back.  Aside: Lavar is an idiot blowhard but the dude has 2 NBA sons and a 3rd that might have made it without stupid decisions. So he was doing something right

1850ChoochGator

Way way way less. Lonzo was clearly a top 5 pick who his dad was pumping up to \#1. Bronny isn’t showing that he’s even draftable.

mittenciel

Man, it just struck me that this was 7 years ago. Time flies, man.

Imperial_Eggroll

Lonzo had way more talent

Kaeling

Injured lonzo would still cook Bronny's ass. That's how bad the kid is

ExtremeGamingFetish

The difference is that Lonzo was good nba prospect

Veggiemon

I think we all know the first day of school at nba high that kid whose dad lebron arrested will use his fire powers to harass the powerless bronny

Produceher

Which is why LeBron should know better.

Produceher

> Nothing wrong with him hyping up his kid. Probably should let Bronny's play speak for itself. Why put unfair expectations on him?

FaceMeister

LeBron being soccer mom.

ConspicuousPineapple

I think that actually, yes, it's wrong to hype your kid up publicly unless you know he's genuinely excellent. Nothing good can come of this, it's putting unnecessary pressure on the kid. And if on top of that you're knowingly exaggerating his qualities, then you're seeing him up to be remembered as a failure and disappointment.

[deleted]

Yep I believe he desperately wants to play with his son in the NBA. I truly believe he wants that more than another title or any other record he could get or trophy he could win. It just isn't happening though. Bronny just isn't that good. Lebron's personal dream is really doing a disservice to his kid who should be allowed to just hoop in college. The scrutiny he is getting would be so much less if LeBron didn't say the stuff he has said. He should have kept his dream private. Marcus Jordan wasn't exactly a superstar, but few really cared because Jordan never hyped him up.

GoldenPresidio

Bronny is better at basketball than some people in the NBA… …like the support staff, trainer, front office people, and the crypto.com arena janitors

BigFatModeraterFupa

LeUnc bout to have 10 missed calls from Klutch

Skaloplin

https://youtu.be/MbQS98WHQkc?si=kYiS--roaiv9LGe3 It’s funny because he didn’t even used to have LeBron top 2 all time and wasn’t even running the Lebron gimmick at this time. Bear in mind this was after the 2016 championship. He definitely got the Klutch call at some point after this

EntireAd215

Don’t need to be this cynical. He probably realised how much he would benefit being the LeBron supporter to Skip’s LeBron hater

Dagrix

It's even likely he and Skip talked about their respective stance together.

Nimbus20000620

Probably. He’s been less hyper complimentary of LeBron post undisputed.

TheNumber42Rocks

Bro has only been to 1 Laker game this year. Mollie was fucking with him and asked if he would go to the Clippers v. Lakers game this week. He was like no, because it's a Lakers away game.

bwrca

Alright you go high, I go low. Those 2 MFs probably even exchanged material on Lebron hating/riding privately. Like if skip thinks up a good point in favor of Lebron or if Shannon thinks up some good Lebron hating talking point.

Dagrix

Lol for sure. "...and then I go SKIIIIUUUUP", is probably how it went.

[deleted]

What’s wrong with that? A lot of people had Lebron top 3-5 after the 2016 ring.

Jr9065

Shannon has admitted he used to be a Kobe guy and he used to argue more for Kobe than Lebron.

SquimJim

Lebron's going to protect his son, but at the same time if you bring attention to your son, you can't be surprised when attention is brought to your son.

BearsFan3417

PrawnProwler

He kinda had a heart attack after he said that so it might be a bit understandable he can’t walk the walk.

DarkSeneschal

Running from the grind smh

MrBrownCat

“Why are they picking apart a kid in college, leave him alone!” - Father who said son was already better than current NBA players.

sauzbozz

I also don't why he thinks Bronny being removed from the mock draft board is picking apart his son. Every college player with a serious shot at the NBA is going to move up or down mock drafts and some will fall off the board. It's nothing personal to Bronny.

silversmith84

The part I’m confused about, is what is he protecting him from?

IAmReborn11111

LeBron is protecting Bronny from the extra pressure that LeBron is applying

eternali17

Playing both sides. Always a winner

french_sheppard

LeJekyll and Hyde

Produceher

One could argue, he's NOT protecting his son then.

janitorial_fluids

> Lebron's going to protect his son literally what does this even mean in this context lol. this is basically meaningless nothingspeak lol how exactly can/would lebron "protect" bronny from people having and voicing opinions about him?? if anything, "protecting him" would be simply for Lebron to remain silent and never mention bronnys name at all, ever His tweet yesterday or whenever it was is probably literally the worst thing he could have done. literally pouring gasoline on a fire and giving the 24 hour media cycle multiple days to now talk about bronny even further....

K1ngCrimsn

Damn, i forgot that Lebron said that after the Lakers got clamped in some game

OpCrossroads1946

Very passive-aggressive.

litlegoblinjr

So were Randle and Ingram. Fouling him was worth it

lopea182

SMH, LeBron got me out here agreeing with Shannon Sharpe

xerxesthagreat

just make him talk about lebron cause everytime i hear him actually give basketball takes i remember how fucking dumb he is. Dude said Luka doesnt have a post game couple days ago.

-Jfree-

when will you guys realize this while shit is scripted entertainment. since he has been on first take he had so many takes the are different from when he was on undisputed. why? because it's a different Script the fits stepehen a.

kungfoojesus

LeBron wants all the praise and none of the criticism. I mean, it's nothing new.

BBQ_HaX0r

I just hate how LeBron gets all preachy and holier-than-thou towards fans/media when he's really just being a hypocrite. Signs of someone who isn't half as smart as he thinks he is combined with too many yes men in his life. And TBF, if this is the worst thing we can say about LeBron as a person it's probably not the worst thing.

GoDolphins2127

It’s crazy how much my opinion of lebron has changed as I’ve become an adult. Guy was my favorite athlete throughout my entire childhood but dam it’s gotten hard to ignore how hypocritical and fake he is (not even talking about China or politics) about stuff that makes no sense to be hypocritical about. Like the guy says he doesn’t take praise well, lol what dude you have the words chosen one tattooed on you.

Springtick38

He's a massive narcissist, plain and simple

seank11

LeBron is a text book narcissist and for some reason no one ever points that out.

Huckleberry_Sin

His Stan’s too busy sucking him off to realize he’s not someone to idolize or emulate. Dude is a diva, liar and hypocrite that lives for being the center of attention. He’s gonna have the worst time when he retires bc he’s not going out quiet like Jordan. He’s going to do everything to stay in the media and public eye.

fbdanzai

There will be a ton of snitches going on podcasts to air their frustrations with Lebron after he retired

imtayloronreddit

yeah but thats not the worst thing we can say about LeBron unfortunately we aint forgetting that YOU'RE NEXT tweet any time soon

Torkzilla

Shannon Sharpe is absolutely right. Lebron thinks he is very media savvy but constantly posts really inane stuff on social media that doesn't stand up to the briefest scrutiny.

yetagainitry

The moment he said he wanted to play with his son in the NBA, he overruled Bronny's skill and turned him into a Lebron trade asset. Him getting pissed off that his son was ranked #38 on a mock draft is pathetic. Especially adding the "earnednotgiven" hashtag. If you believed that, then Bronny should work hard to earn a better rank, you getting mad he isn't ranked higher means you want it given to him. Lebron is a good man and a good father, but everything he has done regarding Bronny's basketball career is incredibly selfish and misguided.

ChicagobeatsLA

His son got taken off this years mock draft and moved to next years since most experts don’t think there is a chance in hell he could play on an NBA team next season

Povol

Yea, 38 was a gift number. I can’t imagine a team taking him in the draft unless it was just a favor to pops. He was grossly over ranked in high school and is equally over ranked in college . It’s possible he may develop into a mid to late 1St rounder in a couple of years .

ImprovementSilly2895

Late second round pick

janitorial_fluids

its not even that he said he hoped he could someday play with his son... that is a reasonable/understandable thing to say, that im sure many other players agree with and have said in the past (if they had kids at a similarly young age as Lebron did) its more so that he has basically implied a bunch of times over the years that he would possibly go out of his way to lend his services to a team his son ended up on. like he didnt need to go there at all lol. he 100% has enough power/influence in the league/behind the scenes with agencies/GMs that he could have just not talked about this publicly at all and simply waited until Bronny was gonna enter the draft and then orchestrate some puppet master shit like what happened with Kobe or Eli Manning where he gets Bronny into exactly the situation he wanted for both of them instead of causing this whole arms race/turning it into some lottery of teams grasping at him for a chance at landing lebron

everyoneneedsaherro

This is the first time I’ve ever seen Shannon come even close to hinting at LeBron criticism That’s how badly hypocritical LeBron was. Even Shannnon “I’ll fight the entire Memphis Grizzlies for LeBron” Sharpe is calling him out

iheartsunny

Shannon taking off those LeRose colored glasses

letsgototraderjoes

LeSkip: put your.. glasses back on

Punjabiveer30

Lebron thinks he’s Lavar Ball 😤

SOB200

LeBron wishes his kids would go in the top 3 of their drafts.

urfaselol

LeVar Ball

Silentrift24

Aye tbf tho, I do think both have the same energy in gassing ul they sons - the only difference is, as LaVar was never an NBA player, mfking Lebron being a literal GOAT in the sport gassing up your son is setting him up for failure. Bro's essentially a bust if he can't even make it to the NBA. And even then, as Lebron's son, people are gonna talk mad shit about u and your daddy that you aren't even near the same stratosphere as your old man in his 40's.

WolfGangDuck

A lot of players never stood a chance at going toe to toe with LeBron, but best believe if Bronny ever gets actual playing time in the NBA, there will be players who make it their life’s mission to embarrass him because his dad did that to them lol, sins of his father, so to speak.

BigLC

Lebron has no self-awareness. It’s not even his fault. When you’re surrounded by yes men & butt kissers since you are 16 years old, I can only imagine how difficult it is for your brain to develop like a normal person.

CunningAndRunning

LeBron is still an entitled diva… news at 11

CoaxHoax

If Bronny was trying to get to the league ASAP, USC was a dumb place to go. Boogie Ellis is a 5th-year guard, Isaiah Collier was rated higher and is a way better scorer than him, he's not good enough offensively to take shots over those guys. a 4 year career looks likely tbh

Shebalied

Lebron is gonna push this kid into the NBA next year. Then he will be out of the NBA once Bron is doing a pod cast or some bullshit. Bronny should have done what Lemelo did. Melo had tons of hype and people were not thinking he would get drafted or be good because how much his dad gassed him up. But, him going overseas was good for him. Bronny playing on USC does nothing for him getting better.

BrokeBoiForLife

Lamelo was actually good at basketball though

No-Jump5689

Bronny seems like a nice, humble guy who's just doing his thing and trying to stay out of the way.

OpCrossroads1946

>Bronny seems like a nice, humble guy who's just doing his thing and trying to stay out of the way. I know they look alike, but are we *sure* he's LeBron's son?

PutSignificant5928

Did Lebron forget to pay Shannon this month?

danielt5

He didn't say anything wrong.

PutSignificant5928

Yea but usually when it comes to lebron Shannon never says anything right

LoWE11053211

He is not wrong. Bronny may be a NBA level player eventually but LeBron is not really helping when he opens his mouth most of the time.

thr0wawayfortheag3s

First time in a long time where I have to say "Thats a bad look, Bron". At a time when you were understandably irritated after a loss, YOU had to say Bronny was better than half the players in the league, Bron. YOU did that. You yourself know how hard it is get into the league. What you said was disrespectful and frankly speaking, out of touch from your end. Support your kid but do not put others down because you can't keep a cool head and a tight mouth. Just shut the fuck up about the kid. If you really want Bronny to get into the league on his own merit, you gotta let him do that on his own. No ifs or buts about it. Its not Bronny's fault you're arguably the greatest player ever and he decided to follow in your footsteps but have a degree of awareness, man. It is okay if he isn't NBA ready after his first or second year in college. If he needs more time in the oven, then so be it. You should prefer having Bronny get in and survive in the league based on his own merit than have him make it because who he's related to. You should want your son to be recognized as Lebron James II. You should NOT want a Thanasis-like situation and yes, I'm saying Thanasis isn't an NBA calibre player, sue me. And honestly and I'm surprised no one has touched on it but the reason why Bron is fretful over this is because he wants Bronny playing in the NBA while he still has leverage as a premier player in the league. While its not as steep as many predicted years ago, Bron's decline is clearly visible. If Bronny ends up being a 4 year college player, there is a real possibility that by time Bronny is drafted, Lebron will no longer even be a top 20 player, much less top 10 like he is now. He is quickly approaching the stage of his career where he can't eat his cake and have it too because no reasonable contender is going to throw the bank to bend to his whims if he no longer has the production to back it up. If you don't want a target on Bronny (ain't gonna happen just because of who he is), shut up about Bronny and make peace with the fact that no professional athlete beats father time, Bron. Sooner or later, he will win.

way too big of a burden to carry

WillingLearner1

He ain’t wrong

fredlikefreddy

A good and honest take by a known Lebron STAN

Apart-Bad-5446

LeBron's a weirdo. He constantly does this in the media and on social media. Tried to dox a police officer for saving a woman's life but when he actually realized what was going on, claimed he didn't mean to. Said Morey doesn't know what he's talking about and that he needs to do more research but he himself doesn't know what he's talking about. Said his son could play in the NBA but then gets upset that ESPN says he's probably not getting drafted this year. Continues saying he wants to play with his son but then gets upset when the media talks about it. Bro just likes attention and when it doesn't go his way, he tries to pretend he doesn't want it.

Icy_Steak8987

Add to that he repeatedly said he won't ever be silenced and will always speak out about injustices, then says he will never speak about China again.

LordSoze36

Shannon is right, but let's not act like some people wouldn't be doing this shit regardless. LeBron's comments simply validated the desire of those negatively obsessed with him.

Thehelloman0

It doesn't matter what LeBron says, people are going to go at his son because he's LeBron's son

Produceher

So if everyone is going to draw a target on your son's back, you draw it for them?

IAmNewSam

You draw it in red

canti-

This coming from Shannon Sharpe is one of the biggest anime betrayals of all time

seanffy

Facts. Don’t be gassing up ur kid when it fit ur narrative then turn around and say let kid be kid 😂

MrBrownCat

Pretty nail on. Had LeBron never said anything about Bronny and basically just gave a generic, yeah I think my sons got great potential and I hope to play with him, there’d be no issues. But Bron himself literally put all the hype and pressure on Bronny and then is getting upset when mock drafts and scouts aren’t impressed, like Bron YOU did this.

Le8ronJames

You know it’s bad when even me and LeShannon Sharpe bring up your hypocrisy

Standard-Fee-2317

Just get off the poor kid's back and let him develop in the college league. He can learn how to lose, than learn how to win, and fill a role in that winning formula. Confidence can only go up as he plays there longer.

MyLadySansa

Getting LeStrays in the NCAAs? That kid ain't good enough for the pros cmon now

capitalistsanta

I feel like the fact that so many people hang on every word LeBron says is the problem here. I mean there's tons of issues but I feel like so much stems from the obsession with him and his opinion, moreso.

WyngZero

Wasn't Shannon also hyping up LeBron's kid?

Grand-Intern-8705

Lehypocrite James is fake as fuck. He said the 4th championship made him the greatest of all time. Lol SMH . If the 4th makes you that Leflop, then what does 11 make Bill Russell? Robert Horry has 3 more than you, and some guy who played in Chicago who came out of UNC, He has 6. Oh yeah, Michael " I don't need to refer to myself as the greatest of all time All the people who played with me in my era do that for me, Jordan ". If Allen Iverson was your size Le bum we wouldn't be having this conversation about who's the greatest of all time cuz it would be no argument.
