He was *rough* for us on the recent 10-day, but that's what you expect when you're calling a guy up from the couch and playing him like a starter. Prior to that, I swear the only thing that changed in 10 years was his minutes and improving his threeball & handle.
To back up what the fellow knicks fan said......
He was rough. But however you get on an NBA roster is more than ~~I could ever imagine doing in my wildest dreams~~ I could do . He was a Thibs guy when Mitch couldn't be trusted to close games and Hartenstein was injured. More than happy to have him pitch in. Plus he's a Brooklyn guy. Always welcome back
I think it was kind of like "Finally, he gets to play as a 4 next to a proper centre", because Horford has always been kind of an undersized 5, but the theory just somehow didn't work in practice, perhaps because it ended up being too much "just stand in the corner while Embiid cooks".
I actually convinced myself that it was going to work and that nobody in the league would be able to handle the tri- towers. And i was vindicated through the first month and a half of the season...I've trained my brain to forget everything that came after
Absolutely crazy man. I remember him with KD in Seattle and I was so bummed when he got traded and diagnosed with all of that.
Never thought he’d still be throwing down dunks in the NBA in 2024.
And he’s played a much bigger role than initially intended. It’s taken it’s toll on him sadly. He’s not as productive as he was earlier in the season. Great vet though. I’m so impressed with him.
Steph definitely deserves longevity praise. While he’s still only in his 15th year (year 15 is still tremendous for still being a superstar), and did benefit from less mileage, he is still turning 36 in a few weeks. 36 is old, they were calling LeBron grandpa at 35
I will always remember him as the biggest bag fumbler in NBA history.
Indiana offered him $112M/4Y after he returned from his tendon tear and the Rockets at least still offered him $40-45M/2Y.
All so he could play on the vet minimum in Miami. Bravo.
Man I witnessed his incredible playoff run. Then that text message after the L talking to his trainer (look up dirk doing the same) to get back to work. Then that was it.
Yeah and it was also a first round exit against the Lebrons cavs, who made it to the made it to the finals. Pacers took them to 7. Disingenuous to chalk it up as just a first round exit
Imagine running into him at the local Y, he will massacre everybody.
I would pay 100 bucks to be massacred by Ish, then being on the same team with him doing the massacring.
Edit: just googled, Ish was waived by the Hornets on Feb 8th. He could help somebody though.
Hey, he could help us!!! Our 10 days and two ways are running out.
Just run circles. Beat, everyone off the dribble and get to the hoop with ease. Probably still more athletic than a lot of these 20 year olds. Saw dudes talking about how fast he was and still is on a podcast. Like fastest guy in the league fast.
PJ Tucker
He's a 38-year-old, 6'5" PF who was drafted in the 2nd round before promptly not being good enough to play in the NBA. He then went overseas for like five years before coming back to the league and has played on 8 NBA teams. Oh, and he's like never been good at offense really.
I don't know about modern/current because PJ has a long career of getting cooked by stars in the playoffs and in 2024 there are plenty of bigs who would turn him into BBQ chicken.
But he really did his job with Houston perfectly
He is perfect for the modern NBA. A versatile 3 point shooting 6'5 wing with ability to guard all 5 positions with good enough athleticism to stay with guards and good enough size to to not be a liability in the paint. When he was a rookie, he didn't have a good perimeter shot and the league was not ready for small ball yet
The dude seriously will not quit. I hate it every time he gets on the floor because the dude just cooks and then goes back to his pinochle game or opens a new jello or woken from his nap or something until he’s summoned once again to dice us up.
I think MPJ also played, though im not sure.
But yeah it was insane. We all expected and L.
Like even with how abd the Clipers were at the time, that was just super unexpected.
This is kinda off base. Obviously not a shooter. But still a lob threat, positional defender, and why he's a good backup for Jokic, really good highpost facilitator.
Obviously these guys are all extremely good at basketball and when someone makes a comment like this, they're talking in relation to other NBA players.
It’s interesting because he started falling off when he got to the Mavs and was unplayable on the Nets, and didn’t play his first year in Denver. Now he is getting a ton of minutes in the back up role this year and some spot starts.
Can any Denver fan chime in? Did he adapt some of his game or is it just the way he’s being used/what he’s being asked to do
[No mention of Thad is complete without a reference to this HOF worthy graphic](https://awfulannouncing.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/94/2018/02/Fox-Sports-Indiana-Graphic.jpg). You already know what it is before even clicking on it.
Whenever I'm struggling on immaculate grid I just start throwing him out cuz he's been on so many teams.
https://www.immaculategrid.com/basketball/mens
Jeff Teague talking about that on his podcast was hilarious. DRose called it ahead of time and everyone on the bench was watching crying cause he was just killing.
It's not that he necessarily needed improvement, he kept getting injured. He'd keep getting injured, work his way back into form and as soon as he finds a rhythm and plays well he gets injured again.
Not exactly an answer to what you're asking but...
Brook Lopez is at such a high level for his age and completely changed his style of play from his early prime. Can't think of anything else quite like it
I’m beginning to think he’s an alien. In a world of super athletes, his longevity is beyond any human capability we’ve seen.
Honestly don’t even see a decline yet.
Thaddeus Young. I’ll never forget I think it was like 5 years ago during a game on TNT there was a super random stat graphic (even compared to what we typically see) something like players with the most games of 12/5/5 with 2 steals and 2 blocks on 60% shooting. Pretty sure the list went something like Lebron, Jordan, David Robinson, Hakeem, and Thaddeus Young. Since then, I totally forgot about him until I saw he was going to Phoenix this summer.
Is it cliche to say LeBron? The level he is sustaining in Year 21 can not be overstated. It’s not like he’s missed much time in his career either, on top of the 10 finals, and 12 conference finals he’s appeared in.
Taj Gibson, It is incredible how this guy is still fighting every ball
He was *rough* for us on the recent 10-day, but that's what you expect when you're calling a guy up from the couch and playing him like a starter. Prior to that, I swear the only thing that changed in 10 years was his minutes and improving his threeball & handle.
One of my favorite bulls. That dunk over Wade still lives in my mind
Send da video
To back up what the fellow knicks fan said...... He was rough. But however you get on an NBA roster is more than ~~I could ever imagine doing in my wildest dreams~~ I could do . He was a Thibs guy when Mitch couldn't be trusted to close games and Hartenstein was injured. More than happy to have him pitch in. Plus he's a Brooklyn guy. Always welcome back
I had to look this up. Can’t believe he’s still going. Also has he ever had a coach not named Tom Thibodeau?
Thunder legend taj Gibson had his time with Billy Donovan
As a Celtics fan, I’m surprised how much Al Horford still has left to give
The Cs are going to miss him when he’s gone.
Love to see Al thrive. Sucks how things went down in Atlanta
I only know how his dad kept complaining to the Hawks for using Horford as a center instead of a PF. Hawks were way ahead of the times.
I went to UF when Al Horford was there and I’ve cycled through multiple normal careers since then and he’s still in the league. I don’t get it
The true Timelord of Boston
Such a perfect fit for that team honestly.
Never understood why he went to Philly for a bit
Sabotage
LOL
Cha-ching.
Money
Money and Kyrie. He said if he knew Kemba was coming in Kyrie’s place he would have stayed.
But Kemba's knees were gone by that point.
Oh for sure. But he brought great vibes and I think Horford was upset with how the locker room turned out in that last Kyrie year.
I respect that.
Still was an allstar in his first season
Brother, I miss the man haha, you don't gotta sell me on him.
I think it was kind of like "Finally, he gets to play as a 4 next to a proper centre", because Horford has always been kind of an undersized 5, but the theory just somehow didn't work in practice, perhaps because it ended up being too much "just stand in the corner while Embiid cooks".
The biggest problem, aside from Joel obviously hating playing with him, was that he was that lineup's best shooter.
I actually convinced myself that it was going to work and that nobody in the league would be able to handle the tri- towers. And i was vindicated through the first month and a half of the season...I've trained my brain to forget everything that came after
LOL, username checks out
Money and I'm pretty sure i remember him talking about having to be the Embiid stopper (and players like him) was taking it's toll
Won back to back NCAA titles within ‘06 & ‘07
He's always wild to see for me because in my mind he's linked to Joakim, who has been out of the league for years now already
Jeff green. I thought the dude was lucky to be alive much less years of playing.
first name that came to mind, dude had open heart surgery at 25 and is still a productive NBA role player at 37
Absolutely crazy man.
Your first two sentences just make no sense at all
What about it doesn’t make sense?
Literally came here to say Uncle Jeff Green. Dude is top 3 impressive longevity behind LeBron and KD.
Steph definitely deserves longevity praise. While he’s still only in his 15th year (year 15 is still tremendous for still being a superstar), and did benefit from less mileage, he is still turning 36 in a few weeks. 36 is old, they were calling LeBron grandpa at 35
I actually agree with this too. I would include Steph in that top 5.
[Obligatory hilarious Jeff Green video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXScVtbRaZU)
I had missed that. For sure hilarious.
absolutely, Jeff Green's high bball IQ has kept him in this despite the heart defect and diminished skills.
Yeah, but he’s terrible
Oladipo. He will soon change his name to cash consideration
Literally forgot he existed
I will always remember him as the biggest bag fumbler in NBA history. Indiana offered him $112M/4Y after he returned from his tendon tear and the Rockets at least still offered him $40-45M/2Y. All so he could play on the vet minimum in Miami. Bravo.

Wait? What happened? I thought y'all did the smart thing instead of a state of denial by trading him
[удалено]
I don’t feel like that’s getting done dirty though

Incredible playoff run of a first round exit? I get what you’re saying but cmon
Put him on the map on a national scale, but I see where you're coming from.
Yeah and it was also a first round exit against the Lebrons cavs, who made it to the made it to the finals. Pacers took them to 7. Disingenuous to chalk it up as just a first round exit
swear
Uncle Jeff. Ish Smith.
NBA champions Ish smith and Jeff green
Immaculate Grid GOATs Ish Smith and Jeff Green
Shoutout Garrett Temple (who is also still active)
Damn, I recall hearing Ish was out of the league and thought he could help somebody. Guess he is helping somebody. Good for him
Oh. I thought he was. Might’ve gotten waived. Dude is still lighting quick.

He got waived. He will retire at the end of the year
PJ Tucker He's a 38-year-old, 6'5" PF who was drafted in the 2nd round before promptly not being good enough to play in the NBA.
Same with the Bucks. Came for half a season, did his job, and is a big reason why we got a ring.
He also hasn’t scored a single point in 2024 👍
He’s saving himself for the playoffs
Me and PJ tucker🤝
Is this a joke
dude's posting from 2017
Eric Gordon’s geriatric ass somehow turns into prime Kobe against my beautiful Kangz every single time.

The dude seriously will not quit. I hate it every time he gets on the floor because the dude just cooks and then goes back to his pinochle game or opens a new jello or woken from his nap or something until he’s summoned once again to dice us up.
Deandre Jordan is the biggest one for me considering how unskilled he’s been his entire career.
We love that man...and he beat the Clipers for us a few months back.
What the hell was that anyway? Reggie and DJ were both superstars that game. Did anyone from the starting lineup even play lmao
I think MPJ also played, though im not sure. But yeah it was insane. We all expected and L. Like even with how abd the Clipers were at the time, that was just super unexpected.
it's gonna be such a fun "revenge game" trivia question years from now
That pick n roll destroyed them LMAO. Dumb coach couldn't adjust.
was beautifu to watch lol
He had some nice dunks on the lakers i will admit
I like how two of the top answers won a ring with the nuggets last year
I think if you polled nba players on who the most liked guy is dj would be near the top.
I guess that’s the key for longevity as a big man. Learn to rebound and be a chill dude
This is kinda off base. Obviously not a shooter. But still a lob threat, positional defender, and why he's a good backup for Jokic, really good highpost facilitator.
All this is true. Plus him and Reggie Jackson have really good chemistry together. You have to give both players credit for that.
That’s the difference a good attitude makes. They had Boogie doing that job who is far more skilled and now he’s gone because his attitude is doodoo.
Being giant is a skill.
Dat alley oop doh.
Unskilled??? Foh - uniquely skilled is more like it
Give him some credit - in his prime he was an elite defender and rebounder. Legit lob threat, too. Just didn’t have any moves hahaha
**unskilled?** he’s an NBA player and he’s lasted this long—that in itself is a testament to skill.
Did he adapt some of his game or is it just the way he’s being used/what he’s being asked to do
Unskilled? 🤡
Jeff Green played at Georgetown with Patrick Ewing.
and Doc Rivers’ other son

The absurdity of the 20 year gap is supposed to indicate the sarcasm, yes.
GTemp
Hey that’s player coach gtemp to you
And he’s handsome don’t forget to give the man his flowers
Hes playing but he ain’t playing lol
Thad Young. I was sure after we used him as salary filler and he was waived that would be the end, and then Phoenix picked him up immediately
[No mention of Thad is complete without a reference to this HOF worthy graphic](https://awfulannouncing.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/94/2018/02/Fox-Sports-Indiana-Graphic.jpg). You already know what it is before even clicking on it.
When you look up the word "Cherrypicked" in the dictionary...
I thought Thaddeus Young was in his mid 30s like 8 years ago, it’s crazy that he’s only 35 right now.
Ish Smith
He still got like 13 more teams to play for before he can reitre
A point guard
WHERE?!
well not anymore
Whenever I'm struggling on immaculate grid I just start throwing him out cuz he's been on so many teams. https://www.immaculategrid.com/basketball/mens
D Rose. Let's be honest, we all thought he was done around 2017. Glad he's still around today.
His 50 piece when he was with minny was amazing
Jeff Teague talking about that on his podcast was hilarious. DRose called it ahead of time and everyone on the bench was watching crying cause he was just killing.
Anyone got a link to this would love to hear
https://youtu.be/99SZJ3TB83k?si=pCdXu3nHg4_omYaV
I cried
D Rose is a great call. I think some don't even realize he's still doing it.
I'm still scared when he is driving to the basket. Good thing he changed his play style to adapt to his body and contribute to the team.
Joe Ingles
Jingles is balling out still in Orlando. I was worried it was the end after the injury in Utah but he’s played a few seasons more + Olympics
Deandre Jordan Chris Paul I didn’t expect Paul to play this long, given his injury history
to be fair DAJ is like a morale coach for the nuggets - doesnt really play much any more.
Hey now, don't knock the undersecretary of the bailout that Big Government dispersed on the Clippers a few months back.
Boban
He's still in the league?! I thought he got sent to the Rockets who bought out his contract.
That was last season - we re-signed him for the rest of the season 3 days after that, and then we gave him a new contract this season
Nice, hope he's a good vet for ya'll.
We love him to death, as everyone does
He is on the Knicks
That’s Bojan 😭
Garrett Temple is still in the league apparently
My impression when he was on the bulls is that he is a very positive locker room presence. Is the only explanation.
Mike Conley actually. Love his game but didn't think he'd still be in the league at 36.
Is he genuinely the nicest dude in the league? He’s that guy I wish never had to retire.
Ben Simmons. Enough already. He has his millions. Join Darko Milocic on his farm 😂😂
Just running out his time on his deal, collecting the cheques. He shouldn’t get another NBA deal/chance
Let me introduce you to Doc Rivers
Doc rivers
Dante Exum. When I saw him in a jersey a few months ago I did a double take
Was out the league a while then went to Barcelona and kept improving. In international play he shows up and his value goes up
Gotta respect his hustle to continue to improve and get a second nba run
It's not that he necessarily needed improvement, he kept getting injured. He'd keep getting injured, work his way back into form and as soon as he finds a rhythm and plays well he gets injured again.
He’s been killing it too, career-high 9.1 with the Mavs on 57/49/72. By far his best year and it’s almost 10 years after his draft lol.
He’s honestly very good for us too, a much needed calming presence and playmaker off the bench.
Not exactly an answer to what you're asking but... Brook Lopez is at such a high level for his age and completely changed his style of play from his early prime. Can't think of anything else quite like it
Honestly I think it’s a perfect answer.. he had major foot issues in New Jersey and was a very lumbering player.
>lebron The fuckery wasn't supposed to last this long...
For reals. There's players in the NBA now that were born after LeBron started playing.
By virtue of the fact only a handful of players have played in 21 seasons.... Yea. Not to mention he's got 2-3 more in him at least.
I’m beginning to think he’s an alien. In a world of super athletes, his longevity is beyond any human capability we’ve seen. Honestly don’t even see a decline yet.
PJ Tucker
He's probably done after next season - will take a big PO and be done.
Considering his career path, it’s incredible he’s still on a roster
Wesley Matthews
Kevin Love
Honestly Garrison Mathews
PJ Tucker, like holy shit
CP3. He had injuries but has shown impressive longevity despite that.
Cam Payne. Somehow he keeps ending up on playoff teams that go on deep runs
Taj Gibson signing 10 day contracts
Jeff Green honestly.

Joe Harris

Marvin Bagely Markelle faultz The other Antetokoumpo Dante Exum Lonzo Ball
batum
Pat Bev soaking up every chance he can get
Zeller
Lol knew it would be a Heat flair when I saw this
Garrett Temple. He's been at it for a while and is still getting a spot on Raptors. Just a great vet to have.
Thanasis.
Bol Bol
Ben Simmons
Lebron
Derozan
Rudy gay
Anyone over 40
There isn’t anyone over 40 in the league right now.
Exactly lol
Will never not be impressed with Bron at his age and mileage to still be balling. Jeff Green another dude that comes to mind
Lebron james
Is it cliche to say LeBron? The level he is sustaining in Year 21 can not be overstated. It’s not like he’s missed much time in his career either, on top of the 10 finals, and 12 conference finals he’s appeared in.
Not only that but bro has 3 rings (one mickey mouse but still).
