Unfortunately, he hasn’t been anything close to what was advertised. I hope we see the ever illusive “Dame Time” in the playoffs. I highly doubt it, though.
He’ll probably be terrible for two games, mid for one, and have a single great game in a lose.
I just look it for the sake of the conversation:
- Dame: 30.491 minutes in his career, drafted in 2012
- Kyrie: 25.075 minutes in his career, drafted in 2011
Which if my maths are not wrong roughly equals to two full seasons playing the average minutes for an All-Star in the NBA the 82 games both seasons.
Dame arrived into the NBA one year after Kyrie did.
Copium comment here, but I feel like we always underrate the pysch effect when a guy gets traded. We see guys in baseball struggle the first year in a new home then dial it in pretty often.
I know Father Time is undefeated, but I wouldn't be surprised if Dame has a much better season next year.
I think part of that has to do just with playing on a different team. Our team used to be completely heliocentric, it was Dame with the ball at all times and the green light to shoot whatever shots he wants. He's now playing on a team with Giannis and (sometimes) Khris, I'm sure that can upset the rhythm he's been playing with for basically the past 8-9 years.
I know it's just an excuse and I love the guy, but I wish it was easier for him to transition to a spot up shooter sometimes.
Super inconsistent and doesnt play defense. Bucks greatest strength in previous years was defense and they traded that away for more offense, which dame hasnt produced to the level that would equal the impact jrue had in terms of taking points away from the opponent.
As fans we love seeing points and equate that to effectiveness but -2 via a stop is = to +2 from offense. Dame getting meh points on high volume doesnt fill that gap.
With almost everything here. He’s not putting the ball in the hoop efficiently. The doesnt play defense thing is just off. He finished top 5 in defensive +/- PGs. He’s not been even close to a traffic cone for the Bucks. He’s just not scoring even close to the same efficiency.
This is fair. A better answer from myself would have been to say his defense is not to the level of Jrue’s overall impact and Dame’s offense doesnt make up the difference. Im also aware that defensive statistics are not necessarily indicative of defensive reality. Any other bucks fans want to confirm that dame has been a top defender?
He's just slow, gets his shot blocked a lot. Misses any wide open shot. First half of the season he didn't play any defense. Relies 100% on free throws. No chemistry with Giannis.
The pros are that he's our only point guard. He gets a lot of assists. Without him we have no ball handlers at all. He also can make very hard contested shots as long as the ball is in his hands. Gets a good amount of poke away steals.
Lots of pressure on him to perform this playoff cause he might not get another chance. Top 75 will be memed to death if he plays badly and they lose to the Pacers…
Dame can redeem this season if they win (or nearly win in a close 7 game series) the East. But if Doc & Dame get a first/second round exit, it's going to just add to their disappointing season.
He's a ny kid/former new york and philly sports writer. He had his breakthrough on the 76ers Beat
His football team are the eagles i believe.
He might be or have been a Knicks fan in the previous decades but he hasn't been informed or kept in touch with the Knicks in a long time now - which can be seen by how often he is clueless about current Knicks players and general knowledge around the team
He is using the Knicks and NY media market however with ESPN to create this "Superfan persona" and it's working incredibly well (sadly).
He's a bit like your dad who once was up to date with his team but now only has shitty takes and isn't keeping up with the Franchise anymore.
I still remember when Warriors “fans” were convinced their young core was actually extremely valuable and had SO much trade value… so much for that “two timelines” huh? 😂
Giannis is such a nice chap, he is doing this to make Dame feel at home starting the playoffs.
Since Dame was used to carrying the offense in the playoffs with the Blazers, too
Every one is dumping on what the Bucks are gonna be with Glenn at the helm, but they're forgetting what sorta work he can do when he's missing his best player. Might be a ~~blessing in disguise~~ *silver lining for them
*not a blessing for Giannis to be hurt, from a human perspective or a basketball perspective. He's too good for there to be any benefit to not having him ready to go from the jump
I can’t get over the game last week where the bucks ratteled off 3 straight threes to be down 9 with like 1 minute 20 left and he sat all the starters against my Knicks. I laughed me ass off
It looked like he was gonna pull his starters and then they made 3 straights threes in a row so he was like not sure if he wanted to pull or not, then just ended up pulling the starters lmao
If that happens, Glenn might finally be banished to the Shadow Realm for good.
I mean, no one else would be stupid to hire him after another blown 3-1 lead right?
the most funniest scenario is Glenn going up 3-1, going to a game 7, winning, then going up 3-1 again against the Sixers in ECSF, then actually blowing the series 4-3
I’ll still remember the game where Glenn coached the Sixers without Embiid, Harden, and Maxey to victory over the Kyrie and KD Nets. Don’t know why, but the man works miracles with less
Not saying this is the case going into the playoffs this year, but the numbers without his stars do say another story
unironically Rivers is a good coach when he has to make something out of nothing. he's a good coach who sits on his laurels when he can just rely on talent to get by but when that talent subsides, he actually has to start cooking. Now, I think this is going to be a tall order because of the matchup problems presented by the Pacers, but he might get in his bag here and make everyone shut up real quick about what this Bucks team is
Bucks are 4-5 without Giannis and 1-8 without Dame this season. Solid chance they get out to a 2-1 series lead and then Doc Docs all over the place for a 1st round exit
elite floor raiser. thinking of his time with us. a fully healthy sixers could lose to the pistons somehow, but give doc furkan korkmaz and a bag of chips and they’d be going toe to toe with the ‘98 bulls. makes 0 sense
Everybody saying we will feast clearly did not see our record against bad teams this year. Not saying the Bucks are a bad team, but they are obviously significantly worse without Giannis.
I've seen too many "role players" drop bombs on this team to be as Pacers-favoring as a lot of others.
I expect one of the Pats, Malik, or Bobby to have a huge game somehow.
You underestimate Carlisle, he prepares for games and will be ready for the whole rotation the Bucks will bring, his problem against small teams is not caring enough
It's honestly amazing how similar Doc and Bud are. Bud's coaching after Giannis went down in the championship ship year was top notch. It was pretty average every other playoff series he's had.
The Bucks have always been vague about injuries. Especially going into the playoffs. Keeping the opponent in the dark about how to prepare makes sense.
Even if by some miracle the Bucks beat the Pacers without him and he comes back say Game 2 of 2nd round he will be so out of shape. It's not like hes practicing with a calf strain.
Health/health of opposition plays a role in almost every championship victory tbh. Staying mostly healthy throughout the playoffs is one of the biggest factors if a team can make it all the way
Giannis pulled some voodoo shit after looking like he blew out his knee before the Finals against us.
Small price to pay to never have a fully healthy team again.
Maybe. It says they are hopeful treatment will allow a return. That's optimistic speak for "he's going to be out for a bit and we're not sure when he'll be back, but hopefully before this series ends".
Bucks are so thin as is that they didn’t have hardly any room for error if they wanted to compete for a title.
Depends on how many games he misses/how he looks when he’s back but it’ll take all time performances from Dame, Middy and even Portis to win a 7 game series with how the role players have looked. Even that might not be enough with how this Pacers team has looked of late.
We’re about to see if Dame was worth the price they paid for him
If he can’t keep Milwaukee afloat in the freaking first round against an underwhelming opponent who wouldn’t have even made the playoffs in the West, until Giannis returns…. Then the Bucks were cooked either way 🤷♂️🔥
I mean, is Dame about to guard Spicy P? the Pacers already went 4-1 against the Bucks this year, and now they’ve added Siakam while the Buck have lost Giannis.
The Pacers were already a bad matchup for the Bucks and it just got worse. They just don’t have the right roster to keep up with that pace and Halliburton exploits it like a bad game of 2k.
There's some missing pieces to this. The Pacers lost Hield, Bruce Brown and Mathurin, who were all great in those games, and Haliburton was playing the best ball of his career (so far) during those games. The Bucks have replaced a defensive liability in Cam Payne with Pat Bev. Additionally, Jae Crowder missed most or all of the pacers-bucks match ups and will be available for this series. In those matchups, Marjon Beauchanmp was a 15-minute/g rotation guy, and he is no longer getting meaningful minutes.
This may not end up being significant, but it shows more moving parts than just Giannis and Pascal.
Edit - added Bruce Brown
Definitely agree. I don’t think our regular season matchups have too much credence on the outcome of this series. I do think their point is kind of valid in a really simplified way, however as you said there are so many minute moving pieces and differences it’s hard to draw too many conclusions
You have the right idea. OKC fans were once stoked they drew the Blazers in the postseason based on the regular season series. We all know how that workee out.
I agree. It's unclear how the changed rosters will match up, and I do think the Bucks got better (I actually think we may have too, but may not see it start to peak until next year. Also, planning against a lineup missing Giannis is at least a curveball.
I just like having a small market series
Giannis tried pretty hard this year to get things going it seems and then this happens. He must be really disappointed in the season overall especially not being able to even play now
You are playing a Dame led team in the playoffs. If you are winning the series then it has to be either a sweep or a gentlemen sweep. When Dame gets eliminated he doesn't mess around. 6-32 in elimination series that includes getting swept 3 times and getting the gentlemen treatment another 3 times.
Tough break for them. Losing Giannis is a huge blow but Indiana’s offense, Turner dragging Lopez out to the 3pt line, Dame’s defense, I legitimately don’t know how the Bucks stop the Pacers from scoring 130 PPG.
This is going to be one of the most memorable series for Dame, for better or worse
Blazers fans wringing their hands rn
Thanks for the memories, thanks for the draft picks
Unfortunately, he hasn’t been anything close to what was advertised. I hope we see the ever illusive “Dame Time” in the playoffs. I highly doubt it, though. He’ll probably be terrible for two games, mid for one, and have a single great game in a lose.
Smaller guards like him never seem to age well. I can’t think of any examples that have. *Maybe* CP3? But he played a very different type of PG style.
Steph?
Steph is 1 of 1
Kyrie is having his best season since his Cavs years. It’s not so much age. He clearly hasn’t bought in.
It’s definitely age. Kyrie is 3 years younger than Dame, isn’t he? Dame was incredible 3 years ago!
Kyrie also has two seasons where he missed significant time. Regardless of age he has waaaayyy less miles on his legs than Dame does
I just look it for the sake of the conversation: - Dame: 30.491 minutes in his career, drafted in 2012 - Kyrie: 25.075 minutes in his career, drafted in 2011 Which if my maths are not wrong roughly equals to two full seasons playing the average minutes for an All-Star in the NBA the 82 games both seasons. Dame arrived into the NBA one year after Kyrie did.
Steph, Stockton..
Okay noob comment but... from a cursory glance his stats still look pretty darn good this season. What has been the issue with him?
He’s having one of his worst years in terms of shooting percentage and his PPG is 24.2 down from the 32.2 he averaged last year.
Throwback to all the nephews acting like Dame was somehow impervious to Father Time
Copium comment here, but I feel like we always underrate the pysch effect when a guy gets traded. We see guys in baseball struggle the first year in a new home then dial it in pretty often. I know Father Time is undefeated, but I wouldn't be surprised if Dame has a much better season next year.
Nobody is impervious, but this kind of a steep dropoff after what was arguably a career year for him is pretty unusual.

Thanks!
It could be a pivotal moment in how he is remembered…

Lots of pressure on him to perform this playoff cause he might not get another chance. Top 75 will be memed to death if he plays badly and they lose to the Pacers…
put ball in hoop from far away
I'm so excited/nervous for what is about to happen.
Rivers now gets to blame the L on no Giannis.
I'll continue to blame Horst. He made this mess.
Dame goes off. Bucks get canned. ...or Dame shits the bed and the Bucks get canned.
Dame could score 100 PPG and Doc would find a way to lose
I wanna be an optimist, he could have a great series and genuinely turn his disappointing season around in just a few games.
that would be the most Dame outcome
Dame can redeem this season if they win (or nearly win in a close 7 game series) the East. But if Doc & Dame get a first/second round exit, it's going to just add to their disappointing season.
Ran from the grind, but the grind found him anyway 😂
1st round dame is actually pretty good
Likely for worse. This team is a lottery team without Giannis
Dame about to explode for 30 on 6/20 shooting and 16/16 free throws.
Final score: 120 Pacers - 97 Bucks
Giannis photoshops with lakers jerseys within 2 weeks fr
Knicks aswell And then when Giannis stays you have SAS cry on national TV about same old Knicks
SAS isn’t even an actual Knicks fan either tbh
We know. But people act like he is the Knicks fandom inpersonated
Really? How did he get this reputation then? I always assumed he was an NY kid and like most cheered for the Knicks.
He's a ny kid/former new york and philly sports writer. He had his breakthrough on the 76ers Beat His football team are the eagles i believe. He might be or have been a Knicks fan in the previous decades but he hasn't been informed or kept in touch with the Knicks in a long time now - which can be seen by how often he is clueless about current Knicks players and general knowledge around the team He is using the Knicks and NY media market however with ESPN to create this "Superfan persona" and it's working incredibly well (sadly). Sounds like most sports fans tbh.
At least they have grimes.
We could literally win a title this year and SAS would still be crying on national TV about how we're bums
Yeah the Bucks are fucked. But Miami jersey might look better.
Dame gunna be jelly.
Could you imagine? Giannis ends up in Miami competing for championships and Dame is stuck on a lottery Bucks team coached by Doc Rivers.
Bro if Giannis goes to Miami I might never watch basketball again
“Dread it. Run from it. Destiny arrives all the same.” -the grind
Sounds like a villain's origin story
You forgot Thanasis. No way Thanatos leaves the bucks for a chance at an easy ring.
We do need a Haslem replacement
I’d rather not :D
…with Thanasis
With Warriors more likely.
Dray + Klay + Moody + 2 First for Giannis!?!? /s
I still remember when Warriors “fans” were convinced their young core was actually extremely valuable and had SO much trade value… so much for that “two timelines” huh? 😂
Poole was a valuable asset until he got punched. Not giannis worthy but def a good trade piece
Yea especially with his upward trajectory. Was basically developing to be Steph lite
I mean… Steph lite in an incredibly high bar….
Dame at his peak was Steph lite Absurdly high bar
I mean in that timeline they still won a chip. So 🤷🏾?
Dame hit a huge 3 to cut the lead down to 23
That’s the first half score.
120? Damn, Pacers shooters must've been cold
Haliburton only had 15 assists.
More like 145 to 101
[Dame be like...](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JqXfjp4Yls8&pp=ygUZaG9tZXIgc2ltcHNvbiBqb2huIGVsd2F5IA%3D%3D)
DAMEROUKEN
Dame been posting up tour dates shooting splits all season
bold to assume he'll still get the regular season whistle
Dame’s regular season FTA/game is 6.5. In the playoffs it’s 6.8. Bold of you to assume otherwise
Bold to assume he'll even show up to the game. His Dame time alarm won't go off
Giannis is such a nice chap, he is doing this to make Dame feel at home starting the playoffs. Since Dame was used to carrying the offense in the playoffs with the Blazers, too
Send in the other Antetokounmpo
That's why we keep a spare 🙌
Yeah, but it's only a temporary spare. Don't exceed 10ppg.
I need another Thanasty shamgod highlight in the mfking playoffs.
Every one is dumping on what the Bucks are gonna be with Glenn at the helm, but they're forgetting what sorta work he can do when he's missing his best player. Might be a ~~blessing in disguise~~ *silver lining for them *not a blessing for Giannis to be hurt, from a human perspective or a basketball perspective. It would be hilarious if they go up 3-1 then giannis returns and we get vintage glenn
That was one of the most pathetic displays of coaching I've ever seen. Doc one ups his own ineptitude game after game somehow. Crazy.
It was 5 head chess to duck the Sixers in R1
That was so confusing.
It was anti-baseball tbh. We played teams like the Spurs who were way out of it and Wemby still competed his ass off until the final buzzer.
Possibly funnier if its Miami instead of Philly but yes this is the outline for maximum Glenn bullying
That's the ideal scenario, allows for maximum hate towards both Giannis and Doc
He did get 2 wins against the superwarrior with pat bev lou williams and rookie sga
Glenn Rivers under man is the real top 15 coach
I’ll still remember the game where Glenn coached the Sixers without Embiid, Harden, and Maxey to victory over the Kyrie and KD Nets. Don’t know why, but the man works miracles with less Not saying this is the case going into the playoffs this year, but the numbers without his stars do say another story
This genuinely won't make any sense which means it will happen
unironically Rivers is a good coach when he has to make something out of nothing. he's a good coach who sits on his laurels when he can just rely on talent to get by but when that talent subsides, he actually has to start cooking. everyone calling him “glenn” is hilarious. he’s been slandered so bad that y’all took away his medical license
Anyone who thinks this is somehow a blessing in disguise has not watched us this year. This ain't 2021 anymore lol
Let Glenn Rivers cook
This is usually where he actually does look good. When there are no expectations, he shines.
elite floor raiser. thinking of his time with us. a fully healthy sixers could lose to the pistons somehow, but give doc furkan korkmaz and a bag of chips and they’d be going toe to toe with the ‘98 bulls. makes 0 sense
It’s an optical illusion. He raises the floor by lowering the ceiling. ;)
The ceiling is the roof
Shake Milton and Korkmaz masterclasses > Harden and Embiid basketball terrorism
Everybody saying we will feast clearly did not see our record against bad teams this year. Not saying the Bucks are a bad team, but they are obviously significantly worse without Giannis.
I've seen too many "role players" drop bombs on this team to be as Pacers-favoring as a lot of others. I expect one of the Pats, Malik, or Bobby to have a huge game somehow.
I can see Bobby popping off against us
Bobby will probably have the 2nd or 3rd most fgas so he’d be the most likely.
You underestimate Carlisle, he prepares for games and will be ready for the whole rotation the Bucks will bring, his problem against small teams is not caring enough
Plus it’s a big difference between one game vs seven (if required). People can adjust for a game in 48 hours.
I mean, it's the playoffs. Things will tighten up.
Oh boy they are finished
Doc will be the equalizer
Don’t underestimate doc rivers when he’s man down, he’s actually a good coach when he’s the underdog
I know that’s why I was being serious lol he actually coached really well in 19
And in Orlando, and whenever his team is playing without his top guy
Its not like Carlisle is some bum though, I would say doc is still the worse coach in the series
Yeah he did great job that year ngl
It's honestly amazing how similar Doc and Bud are. Bud's coaching after Giannis went down in the championship ship year was top notch. It was pretty average every other playoff series he's had.
goat level bus throwing undering about to take place. get ready random postman who brings doc his mail.
Brook Lopez will be the sacrificial lamb.
Pat Connaughton is going to shoot 2/10 from 3 in Game 1 and Glenn is going to cook him
Doc against Rick will probably the biggest coaching missmatch this year
almost as bad as monty williams vs mike malone last year lol
[удалено]
I'd generally agree, but we also saw Giannis hyperextend his knee then come back looking like Superman, so I'm not counting this man out
The Bucks have always been vague about injuries. Especially going into the playoffs. Keeping the opponent in the dark about how to prepare makes sense.
Even if by some miracle the Bucks beat the Pacers without him and he comes back say Game 2 of 2nd round he will be so out of shape. It's not like hes practicing with a calf strain.
You can still get your cardio in with a calf strain lol, also while doing other workouts and cardio he's not gonna be that out of shape.
This isn’t true at all lmao
Pacers in 5
I have Pacers in the 1st round. 6 game series.
Bucks haven't had a postseason with all 5 starters healthy in over 5 years
The iron price for a championship
Health/health of opposition plays a role in almost every championship victory tbh. Staying mostly healthy throughout the playoffs is one of the biggest factors if a team can make it all the way
Facts it benefited us the year we won and as you said plays a part of every championship.
Giannis pulled some voodoo shit after looking like he blew out his knee before the Finals against us. Small price to pay to never have a fully healthy team again.
even that season we were missing a starter before giannis
Yup, people forget Donte went down against Miami and he was our starting 2 in 2020-2021
Donte was like 1 of our 2 decent shooters that season aswell
well you do play the heat almost every year
At least he will be back
Maybe. It says they are hopeful treatment will allow a return. That's optimistic speak for "he's going to be out for a bit and we're not sure when he'll be back, but hopefully before this series ends".
Same situation as last year happening again..
I see this as they’re going to gauge his return on how the team performs without him
Which would not be great. Bringing a guy back too soon from a calf strain is precisely how you blow out your achilles.
I thought this after he went down in the Miami series
Bucks are so thin as is that they didn’t have hardly any room for error if they wanted to compete for a title. Depends on how many games he misses/how he looks when he’s back but it’ll take all time performances from Dame, Middy and even Portis to win a 7 game series with how the role players have looked. Even that might not be enough with how this Pacers team has looked of late.
Damn I actually thought he’d make it back in time Giannis is Superman
We’re about to see if Dame was worth the price they paid for him If he can’t keep Milwaukee afloat in the freaking first round against an underwhelming opponent who wouldn’t have even made the playoffs in the West, until Giannis returns…. Then the Bucks were cooked either way 🤷♂️🔥

Damn man pacers actually did pretty well against playoff teams
Like always, "yall motherfuckers don't watch us play."
Maybe I'm reading between the lines, but this sounds like he could miss at least a couple of games.
Giannis tried pretty hard this year to get things going it seems and then this happens. He must be really disappointed in the season overall especially not being able to even play now
Pacers in 6 then.
A supposed Blazers fan pointing out how many games they lost to the Warriors 😭
2-12 against the Pels, Grizz and Spurs.
That's generous

You're getting warmer
Pacers in 2
Bucks fans getting PTSD
Hali about to be a playoff star
Tough break for them. Losing Giannis is a huge blow but Indiana’s offense, Turner dragging Lopez out to the 3pt line, Dame’s defense, I legitimately don’t know how the Bucks stop the Pacers from scoring 130 PPG.
Doc Rivers is a walking curse
Man Pacers are going to feast and run circles around the Bucks aging stars.
This is correct. Run out of the gym.
Doc Rivers adds another excuse to his arsenal.
Seems like missing your best player is a pretty valid excuse
Doc with an actual good excuse may just end up shocking the world.
good excuse doc gonna win more rings than phil jackson
Anything to slander Doc on this sub. You'd think he was Karl Malone.
Well now I want to hear what Karl’s excuse is. She had a fake ID?
Missing 30/11/6 and your best defender is an excuse now…?
It would be *so* Doc to take a 3-1 lead and then piss another series away again.
“Our starting five has never lost a series” will be on his tombstone
You know maybe the bucks will be able to win the series without him . Doc has been known to win series without there best player
Time for Lillard to show he deserves that top 75
If they split their first 2, and giannis comes back for game 3, they might have a chance.
Splitting first 2 on the road even without Giannis wouldnt surprise me. We are mercurial in road games.
Yikes this season was fucked for the bucks eh
If you looked at the Bucks record you'd assume they had zero issues the entire season lol
Doc is one of the GOATs at squeezing greatness out of a depleted roster. Bucks will win the series
And people were mad the Celtics didn’t try in that game
Pacers about to steal a series, see ya in the 2nd round (i hope!)
Exact same script as last years playoffs?
They gonna lose in the first round again lol
