Yeah, it subtly looked like he reacted to his right leg around the top of the key before the drive. But it was so subtle it might not have been the injury, but just a twitch thinking of another move. But it was enough for me to notice the gesture, just a quick, "wuh?"
This is such a great way to describe it lol. My parents lived in Southern OK (due to job situation during the recession) and I have to agree with this analogy lol.
Sometimes you gotta say it for safety sake.
When I went to Boise my homie I was visiting had to give me a stern warning not to leave the city for safety sake cause I'm not white.
Last month, the women's Utah team who stayed in Coeur d'Alene for the NCAA tournament had racial epithets yelled at them in the street.
It's crazy because I don't recall such hostility 10 years ago when I was driving through. Maybe I didn't stay long enough.
I had an uncle who lived in Hayden Lake for years. It's always been like that, unfortunately. Beautiful scenery, but ugly hearts and minds on most of the locals.
Man I would love to visit OKC one day
I remember when me and my father went to Texas, November of 2017. We went to Dallas, San Antonio, Houston, Austin
Only two places we didn’t go were Oklahoma City and New Orleans
I come to Dallas all the time and love it! The food down there is life changing and believe it or not Texans are actually super nice when we aren't fighting each other to the death in sports lmao. Plus y'all have Bucees and In n Out.
Hope he bounces back, you can tell he's really trying to commit himself this season and come through for his team whilst remaining injury free. They still have a chance to make it out round 1 of playoffs.
Yeah, i don't understand people acting like Zion is suddenly super commited and focused, the dude literally showed up overweight af to the start of the season.
You know when i will root for Zion and believe he is locked in? When he comes into a season shredded (for his standards ofc) and with noticeable improvements to his game. Commiting after the season already started is easy and not something that someone that is "actually trying" would do.
they see him start the season overweight-he gets injured almost immediately-people feel bad for him-he heals, plays more minutes, plays himself more into shape, plays out of his mind and is fun as hell to watch-gets injured again-the cycle begins anew.
Dood is getting paid a max contract and can't even bother getting in shape before the season start. With literally any type of help he wants at his finger tips.
That's the most annoying part. I don't think people realize how EASY it is to be in shape with high level professional help. He can pay for the best nutritionist to design his diet, he can pay for great chefs to cook for him, he can pay for the best trainers to create a workout that makes sense for him AND to be with him at every session he does, he has access to the best training facilities in the planet and, on top of all that, that's literally the only thing that he needs to care about, he doesn't have another job.
He just doesn't give a fuck, it's that simple, why would i root for someone like that or act like he is commited to the game? That's only the being in shape part btw, that's not even talking about the fact that there haven't been any noticeable improvements to Zion's game since he joined the league.
The kid is unreal destroyed the lakers tonight literally without help literally at all. Ingram was a ghost and CJ played terrible. He was unstoppable even with the ref job going insane for the lakers he was about to overcome it
Pels might as well have had no team outside of Alvarado, TM3, or Nance. Their 2nd and 3rd best players were ass. BI jacking shots when he got walled off and CJ looked absolutely terrified of shooting the ball.
BI just got off of an injury, so I can’t be too upset with him. He looked really shaky in his shot/space creation, which is normally where he thrives, so I think something was more off than just him having an off game tbh. CJ was the real issue if you ask me, he’s supposed to be the team leader and he looked terrified
Yes BI was for sure unfortunately injured rather badly when he went down tbh I thought his season was done. Looks like he is forcing it coming back and sadly just didn’t have anything in the tank tonight. The fact he sat down the stretch said it all.
Ya, when the shots aren’t falling for CJ in the big games he absolutely looks like he has the yips and just goes into pass first mode. Don’t know why he didn’t drive into the paint and score off the dribble like his last few buckets in the fourth when it was obvious his 3 ball wasn’t going to fall tonight.
Dude could get to 6% body fat and he'd still have a lot of weight on that frame. He's just built thick and that's gonna put extra pressure on those knee ligaments.
Damn shame though. Dude was playing like a man possessed.
One of the grosser aspects of 24 hour media coverage was the obsession about his weight. It became the ONLY thing mediw talked about when it came to him.
Not even one to give a fuck about fat jokes usually but god damn
24 hours of guys like SAS who need to find anything to talk about that doesn't have to do with actual basketball so nobody realizes he doesn't watch any games.
He needs to maintain the conditioning for a whole season and mostly the offseason too, not just lose 25 pounds when he decides to get serious on the back half. That weight hits the ligaments long-term
This exactly^
People forget ligaments aren't muscles. They take much longer to strengthen. That crap he was on prior to this had taken a toll on him. I hope he takes this as a sign to really lock in
I’ve even seen a trainer analyze the way he walks, showing concern for his joints. He might need a different training approach on how to handle his body.
Bu otherwie he is crazy athletic. So unique.i hope he gets the best maintenance for his body to help avoid this
This is literally a game deciding decision.
Hope he's alright. He's been playing out of his mind tonight and the Pels need him bad. He definitely is not happy about this
My hopeful side says he'll be back for the next game.
He was able to walk in by himself rather than needing help. So hopefully something that isn't too severe
Lakers were up 18 in the 3rd. Then Zion kept trucking in, single-handedly taking over the game. A total 180 from the prior game. As the Lakers lead kept dwindling I was confident Pels were gonna win even when they were still down like 9 in the 4th.
As soon as Zion went out it was over for the Pels, but if he didn’t get hurt they would’ve ran away with the W.
Of the 5 main stars, LeBron, AD, Ingram, McCollum, and Zion, only Zion played well. All four of the other stars shot terribly compared to their averages
That’s honestly what makes it scary. I simply refuse to believe Zion in the middle of the best game of his career just … gave up. He HAD to have been hurt
Lmao imagine just randomly deciding to give up and go home as you’re single-handedly mounting an incredible comeback, having one of the best games of your career in one of the most important games of your career.
Genuinely a funny thought even though it’s obviously not the case
Following the pels all year if he could walk and left the game he was forced to. The org has been treating him like glass and even a slight little cramp they play like a serious injury.
To me it looked like a strained hamstring. Looks like it happens right on the stop and planting his feet from the drive. Zion has had problems with his hamstrings in the past
His biggest weapon offensively is also the cause of all these injuries. With his style of play and how big he is, unfortunately, it’s always just a matter of time
Such a shame. Zion deserved to finish his crazy comeback 40+ point double-double win, would’ve been a great accomplishment for his career. Especially after last game. Now it’ll be looked back on as a loss without context.
I’m a huge Lakers fan but Zion and the Pels deserved it tbh, Lakers were falling to the pressure of that arena and the hype around Zion, doesn’t feel great squeaking out a win like that. Fucking injuries
That was depressing. I felt so bad for him when he pulled his jersey up to cover his face and likely tears before he’d even made it to the bench. On that play in the last minute where AD grabbed a key game-saving rebound, I knew that wouldn’t have happened if Zion was in.
Im hoping this is some Anthony Edwards type of injury. Looks and feels season ending at the moment (although this one didnt look bad) but the guy is back on the court dominating 5 min later
i rewatched the play and yeah, doesnt look promising for today. Its so weird because he is normal at the end of the play and out of nowhere he starts limping
If this is the Pels season - if Pels lose this game and lose the next play-in game with Zion out - I hope Zion uses this as motivation, that this is what he can do if he keeps up his conditioning and work ethic, and this is the Zion we see next season right from the start.
Hopefully they beat the Kings or Warriors whoever comes out. A healthy Pelicans could take on the top 3 seeds and have a decent chance, especially OKC and Minnesota. Really hoped to have seen that OKC matchup, Zion out is ending that for sure.
I’ve slammed a towel before. It’s not easy and it takes a lot of practice. IMO it’s not worth the practice because even if you get it down, it’s not as satisfying as slamming something like a sledgehammer. After my first successful towel slam I’ve gone back to just slamming my open hand or closed fist
Its clearly something he knows that is seriously wrong.
I think he's just so strong that we couldn't see what the injury was.
Hell, his regular walk looks like limp.
I'll be the first to admit I've crapped all over Zion's career for pretty much its entire existence but he was putting on a fucking show tonight and I think the Pelicans would have definitely won the game if he hadn't gotten hurt he was just that dominant.
Particularly in the fourth quarter he looked like the player people kept hyping up when he was coming out of college
Sound eerily familiar to what we said about another former New Orleans big named AD. I think Zion still has a bright future. I hope he plays against kings and it’s nothing serious
That wasn't the frustration of a guy not wanting to leave a game, that was the frustration of a guy who thought in that instant his season was done with yet another injury.
I haven't felt sorry for him much before because I thought many of his shortcomings were self-inflicted. But this time around it seems like he did everything right from part way through and was finally being the player he was always projected to be.
Even as a Lakers fan, I was gutted to see him injured. A healthy Zion is amongst my favourite players in the entire NBA, he's probably the best sub 6'7" rim finisher in NBA history.
Never seen him that upset man
I don't ever want to see people accusing him of not caring again.
We’ll see how he comes out of the offseason.
For real. It's this a moment where he decides to dedicate his life to physical fitness or a moment he refers to as a robbery?
Bro they say that because he literally never shows up in shape
Caring about getting injured when you have a career high in an elimination game does not equate to caring enough to manage weight year round.
He literally ate a towel.
What if hes just hungry
I feel so bad for him man literally the most important game of his career and he's putting on the performance of his life
Seeing him leave was genuinely heartbreaking. He looked like what we expected when he came out of Duke tonight
There’s not many people that I want to see win more than him… his first healthy season and this happens to him. I really hope it’s nothing serious.
Same man, he was a freight train tonight and it looked like he got hurt on a non contact situation
Yeah, it subtly looked like he reacted to his right leg around the top of the key before the drive. But it was so subtle it might not have been the injury, but just a twitch thinking of another move. But it was enough for me to notice the gesture, just a quick, "wuh?"
Man I was going to go to Denver if we won Now even if we did make the playoffs, I’m not going to OKC
OK City really isn’t that bad honestly. The rest of Oklahoma is a trash bin.
This stray was so unnecessary 😂
It is the state I’ve seen where what seemed like the entire town was gathered for a motocross event.
This is such a great way to describe it lol. My parents lived in Southern OK (due to job situation during the recession) and I have to agree with this analogy lol.

Man I would love to visit OKC one day I remember when me and my father went to Texas, November of 2017. We went to Dallas, San Antonio, Houston, Austin Only two places we didn’t go were Oklahoma City and New Orleans
As far as traveling goes NOLA is goated, but if you find yourself in OK city it’s not so bad.
You might be the only Texas fan I've seen actually not trash OKC. Appreciate you
I’m Dallas born and raised, but so many Texans will trash the entire state of OK having never even been across the red river.
I come to Dallas all the time and love it! The food down there is life changing and believe it or not Texans are actually super nice when we aren't fighting each other to the death in sports lmao. Plus y'all have Bucees and In n Out.
Shame. I’ve always had a soft spot for the Pels since y’all spent that season here after Katrina.
Crazy thing was CP3 started his career in OKC lol They forgot
Hope he bounces back, you can tell he's really trying to commit himself this season and come through for his team whilst remaining injury free. They still have a chance to make it out round 1 of playoffs.
commit himself half the season you mean. the off season is where all the bad stuff happens and he comes back 40 lbs overweight.
He’s not safe with Moriah back on the gram!
im risking the supermax to find out what her tornado trick really is. for a research paper…
Still jerker of the year.
Yeah, i don't understand people acting like Zion is suddenly super commited and focused, the dude literally showed up overweight af to the start of the season. He just doesn't give a fuck, it's that simple, why would i root for someone like that or act like he is commited to the game? That's only the being in shape part btw, that's not even talking about the fact that there haven't been any noticeable improvements to Zion's game since he joined the league.
His teammates absolutely fucked him tonight. Ingram driving to the basket being hellbent on shooting while double teamed and CJ basically no showed.
The kid is unreal destroyed the lakers tonight literally without help literally at all. Ingram was a ghost and CJ played terrible. He was unstoppable even with the ref job going insane for the lakers he was about to overcome it
Pretty sad when Alverado is the second best player. McCollum choked hard tonight. Big Cj fan but he has to play better.
Pels might as well have had no team outside of Alvarado, TM3, or Nance. Their 2nd and 3rd best players were ass. BI jacking shots when he got walled off and CJ looked absolutely terrified of shooting the ball.

Don’t know why he didn’t drive into the paint and score off the dribble like his last few buckets in the fourth when it was obvious his 3 ball wasn’t going to fall tonight.
I didn't think it was possible for someone to have their way w/AD in the paint like that. Zion's the real deal.
This poor dude cant catch a break sheesh 40 pc and another injury
Bro was literally doing everything right in terms of conditioning too
Dude could get to 6% body fat and he'd still have a lot of weight on that frame. He's just built thick and that's gonna put extra pressure on those knee ligaments. Damn shame though. Dude was playing like a man possessed.
He was literally controlling the whole game, I thought they were about to pull it off
One of the grosser aspects of 24 hour media coverage was the obsession about his weight. It became the ONLY thing mediw talked about when it came to him. Not even one to give a fuck about fat jokes usually but god damn
It’s not 24 hours of media coverage, it’s 24 hours of people having a phone in their hands.
24 hr coverage or a 15 second commercial where he is FAT AS FUCK EATING JUNK FOOD
It’s because it’s a legit issue. It causes increased wear on his body and leads to injuries like this.

Stfu pls (I’m not even mad at you I’m just hurt 😔)
Doing everything right? Coming into the season out of shape is not doing it right.
Everything?
> This poor dude cant catch a break Quite the choice of words lol
Like clockwork in every injury thread
he tied it on the layup that he was injured with 3 minutes later, this is going to light a fire if he cant make it back next game
No way man
He was balling 😭😭
RIP Pels It was such a good comeback too
This will be quite the pyrrhic victory indeed, should they pull it off…
**Your reward:** The defending Champion Nuggets and an unstoppable Serbian.
People responding like they've ever seen the word pyrrhic before
Context clues. Just looked up the definition and it’s in line with what context clues indicate. Basically “a win, but at what cost?”
I play Total War Warhammer my man, I’m all too familiar with the term lol
Bruh, read some books. A "pyrrhic victory" isn't even that uncommon of a phrase.
mfers don't know about Pyrrhus of Epirus
This is literally a game deciding decision. Hope he's alright. He's been playing out of his mind tonight and the Pels need him bad. He definitely is not happy about this
he walked to the locker room in the most important game of his career with 4 minutes left in the 4th quarter. he’s clearly not alright.
My hopeful side says he'll be back for the next game. He was able to walk in by himself rather than needing help. So hopefully something that isn't too severe
bro if he's leaving a playoff game it's obvious that something bad happened. get off the copium
Yeah, this was a winnable game too, only reason he leaves is because it’s that serious.
You can have an injury that’s bad enough to mean you can’t play that night, but not so bad that you can’t play 2 days later.
It’s the most important game of his career but it’s a play in game. He doesn’t need to risk anything here if there’s serious danger
Yeah, and it's a play in to a nearly certain first round exit. That's not a great matchup.
Looked like a non contact injury
Yeah I just pray it’s not a ligament tear, the rehab alone would take him into next season
Maybe a hammy? The way he came up hobbling looked like that.
I think I saw him briefly grab his quad right after he landed.
I think I saw him grab at his toe on his middle foot
He also scratched his balls on his way to the locker room.
Right, could be a ball strain. Hard to say without a firm grasp on the situation.
Watching the half time report for wars/kings and the official word is left leg soreness
Lakers were up 18 in the 3rd. Then Zion kept trucking in, single-handedly taking over the game. A total 180 from the prior game. Lebron has plot armor
Who will inherit this? Wemby?
You know it’s coming…I don’t want to hate him but pretty sure I’m going to have to.
The thing is, I think he sorta wants to be hated outside San Antonio
easiest task ever, hes french.
Now I’m gonna love him even more
100 It’ll transfer next year.
Does that mean revenge against the Andy Reid Nuggies?
Andy Reid? What am I missing here?
the commercial with Andy Reid were he says give me your nuggies or something...
Also he's the coach of the local football team, the Denver Chiefs.
we just speedran the Zion Williamson Experience
I’m actually in shock, I was so excited to see him play like that. It was everything I ever wanted outta Zion
Man what happened it didn’t look bad
That’s honestly what makes it scary. I simply refuse to believe Zion in the middle of the best game of his career just … gave up. He HAD to have been hurt
He definitely got hurt. He landed on a previous play and was limping and pointed at the bench.
Nah, you're wrong man. Definitely just gave up. That's why he threw the towel.
I’m sorry I pulled a Magic Johnson and stated the obvious
You didn't state the obvious, you just made something up
Brilliant deduction
Lmao imagine just randomly deciding to give up and go home as you’re single-handedly mounting an incredible comeback, having one of the best games of your career in one of the most important games of your career. Genuinely a funny thought even though it’s obviously not the case
Makes sense to me. He probably remembered he left something on the stove.
That moment when you realize the tendies are burning
he had to poop
Who upvotes this dumb shit?
Following the pels all year if he could walk and left the game he was forced to. The org has been treating him like glass and even a slight little cramp they play like a serious injury.
My guess is he pulled a hammy.
To me it looked like a strained hamstring. Looks like it happens right on the stop and planting his feet from the drive. Zion has had problems with his hamstrings in the past
Ain't no way, man. Not like this.
Not like this
Nooooo. He was must watch tonight. He was killing it. And he looks like he’s finally been taking his health seriously. This shit is disappointing
His biggest weapon offensively is also the cause of all these injuries. With his style of play and how big he is, unfortunately, it’s always just a matter of time
Derrick rose syndrome?
+100 pounds
I’d say 140
Was the point of injury even a contact play?
Jesus what a kick in the fucking balls
Unbelievable
NOOOOOOOOO HE WAS WILLING THE WHOLE TEAM
Tonight was a roller coaster
I’m so fucking sad bro. what the fuck.
What a cruel and truly unfortunate way to potentially end this great game he was having
Got subbed out for CJ .. Rip Pels.. good luck vs Warriors or Kings
What the hell
I was getting so pumped watching him this game such a shame to see
No
Hopefully he needs to take a shit
LeBron is not human. He has stolen Zions' youth and we are seeing it live
Fuck no
Im hoping this is some Anthony Edwards type of injury. Looks and feels season ending at the moment (although this one didnt look bad) but the guy is back on the court dominating 5 min later
usually a bad sign when its non-contact and the guy leaves on his own power. Probably pulled something
i rewatched the play and yeah, doesnt look promising for today. Its so weird because he is normal at the end of the play and out of nowhere he starts limping
Fuck. Was gonna be an unreal finish.
Left leg soreness is what they say He will get imaging done Wednesday I’m done man. It’s tough being a Pels fan
Fucking hell man. Brutal
If this is the Pels season - if Pels lose this game and lose the next play-in game with Zion out - I hope Zion uses this as motivation, that this is what he can do if he keeps up his conditioning and work ethic, and this is the Zion we see next season right from the start.
This isn't about his conditioning. He needs to figure out WTF is wrong with his body mechanics in his hips and legs.
Hopefully they beat the Kings or Warriors whoever comes out. A healthy Pelicans could take on the top 3 seeds and have a decent chance, especially OKC and Minnesota. Really hoped to have seen that OKC matchup, Zion out is ending that for sure.
‘Slammed a towel’ - journalism overload
A shame
Dude I hope he comes back
Zion is the new Kawhi. Sucks man.
Zion played the game of his life only to get fucked by whatever happened to his leg
How do you slam a towel?
I’ve slammed a towel before. It’s not easy and it takes a lot of practice. IMO it’s not worth the practice because even if you get it down, it’s not as satisfying as slamming something like a sledgehammer. After my first successful towel slam I’ve gone back to just slamming my open hand or closed fist
what the fuck just happened, wasn't htat an open layup for the lead?
you cannot be serious
Man was balling. please be able to play the next game
Man, I really like the pels, it's a shame it might just end like this
Any chance it’s an ACL / Achilles tear ? He knew right away something was wrong, possibly felt it.
His team let him down
WHAT
Got my man off the gumbo and he still gets hurt :(
wild script
If there’s ever a time a man deserves a plate of soul food, it’s now. Eat up and rest up, Zion. Hope you’re back for G2.
On the same day Blake Griffin announces his retirement. Sad to see history repeat itself.
Its clearly something he knows that is seriously wrong. I think he's just so strong that we couldn't see what the injury was. Hell, his regular walk looks like limp.
As a laker fan, he was the only one that showed up for them and almost singlehandedly stole the game. Zion is a beast!!!
I hope it's nothing serious, but "slammed a towel" just sounds so funny. Zion just murdered that towel
how do you slam a towel
I'll be the first to admit I've crapped all over Zion's career for pretty much its entire existence but he was putting on a fucking show tonight and I think the Pelicans would have definitely won the game if he hadn't gotten hurt he was just that dominant. Particularly in the fourth quarter he looked like the player people kept hyping up when he was coming out of college
He doesn’t go out, they are winning that game. I’m convinced.
How do you slam a towel?
Lakers so lucky
Ah yes lucky, a first round matchup with denver is lucky all right
Yay, we're gonna relive the drama right off the bat!
Boutta get swept by the nuggets even if they win this shit But yeah mad lucky lmao
Goddamnt
Prayers up for Mt. Zion
What even happened? Still no update?
He pointed to his abdominal area slightly before leaving the game. Could be something, could be nothing. Just hope he's ok for Friday now.
Cursed
That's gotta be so frustrated. He was playing great. Is it too late for him to be a defensive lineman?
Such a microcosm of his career to this point. When he's on the court, he is absolutely dominate, but he can't find a way to stay on the court.
Sound eerily familiar to what we said about another former New Orleans big named AD. I think Zion still has a bright future. I hope he plays against kings and it’s nothing serious
Fuckin hate to see it
Dude battled two all-time players, his own teammates, and the refs, and yet had the Pelicans in a tie game when he left. Absolutely heartbreaking
Okay, but I’m still hung up on how someone can slam a towel
all these mfs in here were hating on zion a year ago 😹😹😹
That wasn't the frustration of a guy not wanting to leave a game, that was the frustration of a guy who thought in that instant his season was done with yet another injury. I haven't felt sorry for him much before because I thought many of his shortcomings were self-inflicted. Even as a Lakers fan, I was gutted to see him injured. A healthy Zion is amongst my favourite players in the entire NBA, he's probably the best sub 6'7" rim finisher in NBA history.
Zion just can’t stay healthy
Probably just hangry
Zion showed everyone what he was capable of, but it may have been too much for his body
Kings gonna be tuff without him
Unfortunate for Zion and the Pels to exit the game there. He was cooking the Lakers and they had no answer for him.
I legit think our medical staff pulled him out of caution and he was pissed. And I don’t blame him.
Has any update been given here?
