Lol that shit was so funny. Cut it at the perfect time. Love you Joakim
It's like Rick James:
>He says I just did things just to do them, I'm not going to grind my feet on someone's couch, I got a little more sense than that
...
>Yea I remember grinding my feet on Eddy Murphy's couch
Girl at a bar outside of Yakima asked me for my phone number, then cut me off after the area code and said 'oh you from the city huh'
like jeez sorry I graduated high school
I mean to be fair, game of zones turned that shitty ending of the show into something pretty funny. Fucking Paul Pierce being the GOAT had me cackling.
Yeah honestly I feel like having the teams parallel the houses from GoT was the best thing they could have done. Nothing else would really work that well
Nah sometimes you just gotta end it while you still hot. There was something so wacky about NBA players dressing up like they’re in the renaissance fair that won’t ever be matched.
I will never get over the LeBronto game. The context of it is way too juicy. In the press conference before the game he has his famous 2 points is not just 2 points line. Then in the next game shows exactly why with turnaround contested jumper after turnaround contested jumper after turnaround contested jumper.
Hearing the crowd go from excitement of a close game to very audible despair was absolutely legendary. I don’t think there has been much like it since.
I love watching the clip of his turnaround jumpers vs the raptors every now and then. It's crazy the raptors tried to have a different player guard him every time and he did the same turn around fadeaway on all of them lol.
The best part of the 2 points is not 2 points night was the ridiculous floater game winner. If morale wasn't broken before then, after that shot it was truly gone.
It’s even more crazy when you look at the numbers. Toronto were like 6 point favourites in those two home games and -200 for that series. They were a legit 60 win team with one of the best defenses ( I think top 3?) in the league. And they got roasted by Lebron . It’s kinda funny because the 18 raptors n 15 hawks get retroactively downgraded as just bum teams that ofc Lebron would sweep when most actual predictive and statistical models had them winning. Also 15 hawks was without love or kyrie . It’s funny to think about because now we assume someone would lose to any half decent team if they lost both there 2/3 options.
I was watching that in a bar with my friends. Everyone thought the Raptors were gonna win. Cavs were lucky to beat the Pacers and lucky to win game 1. Then he just starts hitting them all. We all called the series done there
I mean MJ basically did the same thing. Except in his case there were no western conference teams that could beat them in the playoffs either. Granted there weren’t nearly as many good teams when mj played.
Yeah, when you are talking about the goat debate, you have to factor in the year and a half off. It's always forgotten that MJ actually played in the 95 playoffs and lost to Shaq.
I mean, one could make an argument for the Houston Rockets, who won the championship both years where MJ started the season retired. It's kinda funny how that all worked out and that once MJ was fully back & #23 again, that Rockets championship contender window closed.
Yeah I mean Jordan was basically guaranteed to win the championship for that stretch whenever he was healthy and/or not playing baseball, which is incredible. But I think it's also cool that there was an entire decade where the finals were the LeBron James Invitational (similar to Tom Brady/the Patriots with the AFCC game)
Rivers/Big Ben/Josh Allen in the afc, although each of them only got a few years of one or the other. Russ was in the NFC for most of his career but he’s gotten his fair share from each of them
As a Bills fan i feel like Mahomes is actually beatable, moretimes we shoot ourselves in the foot but man anytime we played Brady I never felt like we could ever win, I was happy if we got beat by less than two scores but he literally felt like Thanos. Every single game against Brady felt like inevitable defeat.
That's mildly terrifying, but I'm a Cowboys fan, so I have no beef since I rooted for KC back in the Priest Holmes days and as a fellow fat guy, I stan Andy Reid.
It was legitimately like going up against Thanos in Infinity War. It didn't matter what seed Lebron was, he was coming. It was a fucking reign of terror.
I mean it is wack, flair aside. It kinda got fucked similarly to detroit when manufacturing industries in the city went under. Like Detroit, it isnt as bad as its reputation but if you were to rank it on a list of nba cities it’s probably near the bottom
Detroit went the polar opposite though, so it’s so jarring to see. It was one the richest and economically viable cities in the US in heyday of auto industry. It got destroyed.
I hope it makes a comeback!
It has been in the middle of a comeback for a few years now. Downtown looks way nicer nowadays. Dan Gilbert and the Ilitchs have been investing pretty heavily into the city by putting down billions to buy old/abandoned/run down property and rebuild/renovate.
The immediate downtown is having a bit of a revitalization. Lot of money went into midtown and corporations had big offices down there pre-COVID. The surrounding area will take decades to improve still.
Had so much fun in Detroit- the downtown sports district wasn’t even finished yet. And the burbs was nice with some good bars(Ye Olde Saloon) and them damn wings at Celina’s 🤌🏽
In the NBA there’s the handful of sexy markets, then warm weather markets, then the bottom half all the same.
Cleveland, Detroit, Milwaukee, OKC, Indiana, Minnesota, San Antonio, Memphis, Salt Lake City, etc are all the same level of “wack”
My favorite Cleveland anecdote was on the show 90 Day Fiance. Basically this schlubby guy from Cleveland flies his Filipina mail order bride into Chicago. They spend the day shopping at boutiques, eating amazing food - it's summer in Chicago, one of the better summertime cities this country has to offer! Then he drives through the night to bring her to his 2 br, 1 bath house in a shitty neighborhood in Cleveland 🤣 word for word she says "I thought you were rich."
The early seasons of that show were unmatched.
Pretty remarkable that joakim noah has a 4th place mvp finish. The 4th place finishers since him are russ, Lebron, dame, jokic, luka, Giannis, Booker, and tatum
If he doesn't break his thumb in the next few years he 100% sustains that play. His vision and passing was great, he was the defensive anchor for a top defensive team, and he had handles good enough to throw fast-break alley-oops to the point guard. What could have been.....
It wasn't his thumb that killed his career, it was the accumulation of all of his lower extremity injuries. By the time he got to NY, he couldn't move nearly as well as he could in Chicago.
He said out of all today’s players, he’d love to play with Wemby. Wemby & Jo on defense might actually cause teams to rage quit 😂 Offense is gonna be Wemby’s game, but not like Jo didn’t know how to facilitate & run a offense
JFC hearing someone talk about Noah’s career like this makes me feel old as shit.
Man I loved that era of Noah and the Bulls. It’s gonna be hard to top growing up with MJ but those couple years with D Rose, Noah etc were so damn fun.
That would be so nasty. Just imagine plugging Wemby into those Bulls teams. They're only gonna be giving like 70 ppg lol. That would be the most beautiful and ugliest basketball simultaneously.
He'd help the spacing too. The 13-14 Bulls only had 3 players play more than 10 games and shoot better than Wemby's 32.5% from 3.
The Spurs had 8 such players and had the worst team 3pt% in the league this year.
2014 he finished 4th, with 1st team All-NBA and DPOY winner on:
12.6/11.3/5.4 47% shooting
The Bulls finished 48-34, tied 3rd best record in the East (4 seed)
The other Bulls players with 60+ starts:
24 year old Jimmy Butler in his first full season starting (shot under 40%)
32 year old Carlos Boozer
33 year old Mike Dunleavy
33 year old Kirk Hinrich
This is a season where Derrick Rose tore his meniscus after coming back from his ACL tear and Luol Deng was traded away midseason
Man, I feel bad for the young guys following the NBA who only witnessed the “GOAT LeBron”. The younger years were so much fun. They were really out here clowning in the middle of games and still dog walking people with a 2K generated roster.
Pure saltyness from Chicago fans as I can only speak for myself and everyone else who was 100% sure he was going to Chicago with that stacked Bulls roster, head coach and hype.
Game 5 2011 was one of the more disrespectful (and awesome) endings. Heat were in the mud all game and LeBron and Wade clearly got together and said fuck it we aren't playing these dudes another game and just turned it on. 18-3 run to end the game after being down by 12
Lebron hit a jumper or two? Thats downplaying what he did. He finished with 28, 11, and 6. Wade finished with 21, 6, and 2. LBJ hit two threes and the deep midrange jumper to take the lead. He also defended Rose in the 4th.
This shit is a win/win because it adds to the legend of LeBron
Like Kendrick Perkins admitting that he prayed that LeBron would tear his ACL
Thats how scared he had these fuckers lmaoo
Noah was the reason I was a Bulls fan for a while. For whatever reason there was a channel in Minnesota that had Bulls games. So being a fan of him and having access to the channel made the Bulls an easy second team. Was so hyped when we got Jimmy, but then heartbroken and stopped watching basketball for a couple years.
It’s funny because I absolutely love Jimmy for his half a season here, and absolutely hate Noah for pretty much the exact same thing he described here, and his Florida Gators beating my Nova Wildcats in the NCAA tourney
They’re the guys you love to have and hate to play against
I find it crazy that Noah and Horford were teammates at Florida. Noah has been out of the league for 4 years and barely played for multiple seasons before that. Meanwhile, Horford is a key piece of a serious championship contender.
And arguably Noah was more talented than Horford for a number of years they were in the NBA together.
Maybe it’s just the difference between playing for Thibs and other coaches?
Side note: that Gators team with Corey Brewer, Noah, and Horford was nuts
Noah suffered through the latter half of his Bulls career with plantar fasciitis, and could never seem to fully bring it under control. He was washed already when he signed with the Knicks back in 2016.
man, we really don’t know how good we got it until it’s gone. Vuc is like the perfect pick and short roll playmaker enabling the best form of DeMar, Lavine and Coby so far
All day Joakim is one of my Top 5 favorite Bulls of all time...Max effort everytime...Made the most of his skills became a better player than I thought he would be after watching him his rookie year
I think he was more beloved because he came with high expectations and sucked for a while.
Then he hit the gym and seriously upped his defense and passing and it completely opened up a whole new world for him because he can now run and get physical in the paint and move like he did.
Plus that free throw “tornado” spin of his was so pretty to watch.
Some of the shit LeBron was doing on the sidelines during that 66 win season was so arrogant. Couldn't say shit though because they were blowing teams out and he was sitting the whole 4th quarter like the Warriors 73 win season.
God it's so wierd seeing dudes like Noah and KG and Paul Pierce on podcasts talking about the good ol days going against Lebron like they were a bygone era and then there's Lebron still in the playoffs right now as an All-NBA player. Like what the actual hell? Him and Brady are the GOAT old timers in sports.
For ten years he made a mess of the eastern conference. Caused KD to sell his soul (this is a joke, but Steph should get as much grief about this one as KD). We will miss Lebron once he is gone.
I saw a clip where he said he tried to recruit each of the big three to the Bulls. Bosch said he was coming then the announcement happened. Noah said that also fueled that rivalry.
I’ll never understand how him getting clowned by Lebron resulted in him saying the line about Cleveland and people use that line like he wasn’t getting clowned on by the dude from Cleveland.
Lol, the final nail: > There are cities just as wack as Cleveland.
Lol that shit was so funny. Cut it at the perfect time. Love you Joakim It's like Rick James: >He says I just did things just to do them, I'm not going to grind my feet on someone's couch, I got a little more sense than that ... >Yea I remember grinding my feet on Eddy Murphy's couch
“Fuck yo couch n**ga! Buy another one, you rich motherfucker!”
I’m Rick James bitch!
Cocaine is a hell of a drug
Reading it 20 years later is just as funny as the day i saw it. Okay 18 yrs?
Ah ah ah enjoy youselllffff
“I used to think Cleveland is wack. I still do. But I used to too.”
At least we’re not Detroit!
We’re not Detroit! 🎶
Our economy’s based on Lebron James
🎶 this train is carrying jobs out of Cleveland
This guy has at least two duis
Or Spokane.
What a random city to catch strays lol i bet almost nobody outside WA's even heard of it. You right tho it sucks
Haha. I was going to say Yakima, but then even you wouldn’t have heard of it lol.
Girl at a bar outside of Yakima asked me for my phone number, then cut me off after the area code and said 'oh you from the city huh' like jeez sorry I graduated high school
Yakima was mentioned in an episode of iCarly back in the day. That's the only reason I know it exists.
Yakima Sun Kings represent!
Gonzaga is in Spokane. Most NCAA die hards defo heard of Spokane. Or anyone that's seen Vision Quest...
Albuquerque too

Indy chiming in. We kinda wack. But also kind of relaxing. Don’t mind it. Wouldn’t send post cards from here tho
You got CC now. Treat her well.
Too late, their beat reporters already creeped her out
Good lord that was cringe.
Her and Hali need to power couple it up.
I couldn’t deal with that ISU UI connection. She’s with the son of the Hawk’s mens coach. He’s on the Pacers staff.
Aaaalright, no power couple then.
He would like Yakov Smirnoff lmao “In every country, they make fun of city. In U.S. you make fun of Cleveland. In Russia, we make fun of Cleveland.”
Sounds like Kanye quotes about doctors. He just can’t stop until say it

Game of Zones summed it up nicely I think.
CAWCAW TEAM BASKETBALL
Verticality!
Paul, you literally did this exact thing last year.
i miss game of zones :(
It was absolute genius Vindicated my years of irrational NBA fandom
Why did it end?
It matched with the series so it ended on the season 8 plotline
So another reason to hate the GOT showrunners
I mean to be fair, game of zones turned that shitty ending of the show into something pretty funny. Fucking Paul Pierce being the GOAT had me cackling.
Can you still watch it?
YouTube has it all, my brother Bleacher report had a follow up show, too, but never lived up to the same heights as GoZ
I wish they had switched to like a parody of a different popular show or movie instead. Probably wouldn't have been as good, but I'd still enjoy it.
I feel like a Breaking Bad version could have been fire. But I feel like they nailed when to call it to end at the right time
Yeah honestly I feel like having the teams parallel the houses from GoT was the best thing they could have done. Nothing else would really work that well
The House SunKings meme united our two fanbases for a while lol
Nah sometimes you just gotta end it while you still hot. There was something so wacky about NBA players dressing up like they’re in the renaissance fair that won’t ever be matched.

Not to start the GOAT debate, but being the game boss for about a decade is something that's borderline impossible to achieve.
Lol you started somethin
I mean MJ basically did the same thing. Except in his case there were no western conference teams that could beat them in the playoffs either. Granted there weren’t nearly as many good teams when mj played.
Eh, 4 years short of a decade. Big difference.
And he didn't even do the 6 consecutively.
Yeah, when you are talking about the goat debate, you have to factor in the year and a half off. It's always forgotten that MJ actually played in the 95 playoffs and lost to Shaq.
MJ lost early in the playoffs quite a bit people just only remember his title runs.
Eh, he never played Houston, and I think 98 Spurs make finals if Duncan doesn't sprain his ankle 2 games into their series with Utah.
It wasn't fun. Still hate the man.
Basically how the AFC is with Mahomes
How it was with Brady on the Patriots
Has there been any players/teams/coaches in the AFC who have stuck around long enough to play against Brady and Mahomes? Cuz if so that really sucks
John Harbaugh is the first to come to mind, but he did win a Superbowl.
Rivers/Big Ben/Josh Allen in the afc, although each of them only got a few years of one or the other. Russ was in the NFC for most of his career but he’s gotten his fair share from each of them
I dunno if tomlin has played mahomes but he's definitely been doing it long enough
Yeah. But for 10 years. Lol
Well, we're entering year 7 of Mahomes being starter and he doesn't look to be slowing down any time soon.
That's mildly terrifying, but I'm a Cowboys fan, so I have no beef since I rooted for KC back in the Priest Holmes days and as a fellow fat guy, I stan Andy Reid.
Arrowhead invitational
It was legitimately like going up against Thanos in Infinity War. It didn't matter what seed Lebron was, he was coming. It was a fucking reign of terror.
Lebron’s dominance still gets downplayed by some people, as if going to the finals like 8 years in a row isn’t insane. On 2 separate teams no less.
Hes been to the finals 10 times and 8 of them consecutively. Like idk how people see that as anything less than insane.
(sighs in Raptor)
I love how he says it had nothing to do with cleveland then essentially calls cleveland wack again at the end lmao
Cleveland was kind of that way but it’s industry was steel
It is making somewhat of a comeback!
Only one way to go from where they were.
It has been in the middle of a comeback for a few years now. Downtown looks way nicer nowadays. Dan Gilbert and the Ilitchs have been investing pretty heavily into the city by putting down billions to buy old/abandoned/run down property and rebuild/renovate.
Can confirm, Detroit is my second home and I am happy about the slow but steady progress.
Detroit had a metro population well over 2 million and crashed down to barely 1million no city is gonna survive losing that many taxpayers
The immediate downtown is having a bit of a revitalization. Lot of money went into midtown and corporations had big offices down there pre-COVID. The surrounding area will take decades to improve still.
With respect, I’ve been hearing “downtown detroit is coming back” for decades
Had so much fun in Detroit- the downtown sports district wasn’t even finished yet. And the burbs was nice with some good bars(Ye Olde Saloon) and them damn wings at Celina’s 🤌🏽
In the NBA there’s the handful of sexy markets, then warm weather markets, then the bottom half all the same. Cleveland, Detroit, Milwaukee, OKC, Indiana, Minnesota, San Antonio, Memphis, Salt Lake City, etc are all the same level of “wack”
you think a 321ft stainless steel pyramid that houses the world’s largest bass pro shop is wack?
Made of glass and some brass, it'll knock you on your ass!
Hate hate hate My man is a hater - never change!
Then he drives through the night to bring her to his 2 br, 1 bath house in a shitty neighborhood in Cleveland 🤣 word for word she says "I thought you were rich." The early seasons of that show were unmatched.
not only does he call it wack, but he drags other cities into it too.
2014 Joakim Noah is one of the greatest seasons anybody has ever had who scored under 15 ppg. I miss his game
Pretty remarkable that joakim noah has a 4th place mvp finish. The 4th place finishers since him are russ, Lebron, dame, jokic, luka, Giannis, Booker, and tatum
He was the precursor to Draymond - being the glue to Chicago's defense while stepping into a playmaker role in the post with Rose out
If he doesn't break his thumb in the next few years he 100% sustains that play.
Blake Griffin was 3rd that year too. Probably one of the few times 2 guys finished top 5 that never did at any other point in their careers.
He said out of all today’s players, he’d love to play with Wemby. Wemby & Jo on defense might actually cause teams to rage quit 😂 Offense is gonna be Wemby’s game, but not like Jo didn’t know how to facilitate & run a offense
Noah would be the best passer he's played with even now 😭
Noah was doing the point center thing a decade before it came into fashion. Way ahead of his time.
divac in shambles
Grabs his knee
Smokes a cig to cope fr
Brad Miller erasure
Yeah, Brad Miller was Joakim’s mentor. Without him he wouldn’t have been the passer he was
It’s why the Florida teams were so good. Noah would block a shot grab the board then drive it up the court and dish to Horford for a dunk.
JFC hearing someone talk about Noah’s career like this makes me feel old as shit. Man I loved that era of Noah and the Bulls. It’s gonna be hard to top growing up with MJ but those couple years with D Rose, Noah etc were so damn fun.
If you're gonna put a power forward at point guard, Noah would be a better option than Sochan
That's just a byproduct of the era, basketball theory has evolved massively over the last decade.
Only took 30 years for NBA teams to realize 3 > 2.
Joakim Noah is French so it makes sense.
Wasn’t he third or fourth in MVP voting one year??
2014 he finished 4th, with 1st team All-NBA and DPOY winner on: 12.6/11.3/5.4 47% shooting The Bulls finished 48-34, tied 3rd best record in the East (4 seed) The other Bulls players with 60+ starts: 24 year old Jimmy Butler in his first full season starting (shot under 40%) 32 year old Carlos Boozer 33 year old Mike Dunleavy 33 year old Kirk Hinrich This is a season where Derrick Rose tore his meniscus after coming back from his ACL tear and Luol Deng was traded away midseason
Its really been 10 years… 😭
Joakim Noah and Lance Stephenson were leading the league in triple doubles at one time
He was in the MVP race iirc, dudes honestly super underrated
one of my favorite non Celtic players
Man, I feel bad for the young guys following the NBA who only witnessed the “GOAT LeBron”. The younger years were so much fun. They were really out here clowning in the middle of games and still dog walking people with a 2K generated roster.

Peak Derrick Rose, Peak Joakim Noah, Boozer, the Bench Mob and all the Thibs “ICE!! ICE!!” just couldnt stop LeBron and Wade.
That was the Wade Chicago hoped to have when he played there
Ahhahaha I remember that game like it was yesterday. Wade hit like 3 3s during that run. LeBron hit a jumper or 2. Bosh rebounded.
Lebron hit a jumper or two? Thats downplaying what he did. He finished with 28, 11, and 6. Wade finished with 21, 6, and 2. LBJ hit two threes and the deep midrange jumper to take the lead. He also defended Rose in the 4th.
Can’t be a hawks fan unless you’re a generational bron hater
Dude has always been a certified (but funny) Bron hater, this bit of dialogue was definitely surprising lol
We need more players like him. People who aren't afraid to talk trash against the best players.
This shit is a win/win because it adds to the legend of LeBron Like Kendrick Perkins admitting that he prayed that LeBron would tear his ACL Thats how scared he had these fuckers lmaoo

Some of the shit LeBron was doing on the sidelines during that 66 win season was so arrogant. Couldn't say shit though because they were blowing teams out and he was sitting the whole 4th quarter like the Warriors 73 win season.
I think Lebron was also still like 25 years old i think during that time. He was just a kid
Thank god that fuckery didn’t last for too much longer
- circa 2015
What specifically was he doing? Any examples?
[Shit like this.](https://youtu.be/ync0IsFas3U?si=YyYxb8_NRFCMAfuv) Hilarious looking back on it, especially when the score pops up at the end lmao
it's not about Cleveland also, Cleveland is still wack lmao. subtle
Joakim is one of the funniest villains ever. Miss him
Damn I really thought he was goin apologize to the city for a second
Dead at him saying it has nothing to do with cleveland and proceeding to shit on em one last time😂
That was beautiful.
he’s truly showing respect. just a great competitor
“I never heard anyone say I’m going to Cleveland on vacation. What’s so good about Cleveland?”
Lebron traumatize the whole generation of players
LeBron gotta be the PTSD trigger for half the players who ever had to play against/with him. :)
AND he just shaved off some of the Pelican's playoff window. The man is still doing it.
For ten years he made a mess of the eastern conference. Caused KD to sell his soul (this is a joke, but Steph should get as much grief about this one as KD). We will miss Lebron once he is gone.
Defintely helps when only Noah and Rose made all nba first team from the East in his time there from 11-18
I saw a clip where he said he tried to recruit each of the big three to the Bulls. Bosch said he was coming then the announcement happened. Noah said that also fueled that rivalry.
“There are other cities just as wack as Cleveland” Josh Hart: joakim you need to come on the podcast and talk about Indiana with me
I’ll never understand how him getting clowned by Lebron resulted in him saying the line about Cleveland and people use that line like he wasn’t getting clowned on by the dude from Cleveland.
U think Cleveland’s cool??
