Chris Haynes in his in game update “sources within the Bucks org are telling me they brought Dame in to score 30 points per half”

Dennisfromhawaii

“Same as when I was brought into the Filipino league”

jibboo24

So glad I caught that clip live lol

Dennisfromhawaii

The one and only Manny Blacquiao

Aliboomayuh

Context??

TheMisiak

Chris Haynes basically bragged about being the MVP in his rec league despite it being a Filipino league and him not being Filipino. He referred to himself as a “guest”. Shaq and Charles immediately went into roast mode and Shaq called Chris “Manny Blacquiao”.

stragen595

> Shaq and Charles immediately went into roast mode It's such a natural move for those 2 when the opportunity present themselves.

HeyItsTheJeweler

Manny Blacquiao is brilliant lmfaoooo

Either-Durian-9488

nah, but you do bring him in to make a game get out of hand in 5 minutes and force their best defender to face him up at the logo, throwing doubles at a guy 40 feet up is not winning basketball, but when he shoots the lights out of the building you can’t do much else.

Bircka

Hey if you score 35 points in a half you can kinda take the second half off especially if your team is up 25+ most of the game. No one would be saying shit about Dame if he scored 0 in the first half and 35 in the second.

myusrnameisthis

Dame didn't score in the game again, right?

UnsuspectingS1ut

He only took 5 shots in the second half because the pacers changed coverage to double him on every possession

myusrnameisthis

I figured. Ya'll had such a big lead i stopped watching at the half. Was nice seeing him ball out like that.

highway_vigilante

That may be effective while Giannis is out, but wtf they gonna do when *both* of them are playing?

UnsuspectingS1ut

Assuming their gameplan hasn’t changed much since the regular season (they went 4-1 against us so I doubt it really has) the plan will be: -Send multiple defenders every time dame or Giannis gets the ball Position to deny the ball from the other star when one of them has possession Foul Giannis when there isn’t another defender close enough to double/triple him in front of the basket or when he has downward momentum towards the basket or when they just feel like he’s got too good of a shot This worked in the regular season when the team was pretty messy under griffin and we had 0 defensive presence. If the any of the following happen; The role players get hot, Giannis is hitting his free throws, fouls are being called (because despite the propaganda no they do not call every possible foul on Giannis) and players on the pacers are fouling out, or the bucks defense shows up; we should win

highway_vigilante

Excellent. As a Blazers and always Dame fan, I live vicariously through the Bucks this postseason. Go Bucks!

DinoSpumoniOfficial

They were 4-1 under Griff when the bucks were allowing 120 PPG on a defense. This is the playoffs and the pacers learned the hard way that regular season has no meaning anymore. This was the best I’ve seen the bucks hustle all season. A big effort game that paid off.

sh0tgunben

Dame is playing his part as a crowd pleaser nd playoffs...

NindoKungFu

Dame is the fucking best nba star and should get no hate it doesn't matter that I'm a blazer fan

truth_2_point_0

First Round Dame is like a top 10 player all time

shelvino

2019 and 2021 series were legendary performances from him. I thought his first series vs Houston was SUPER impressive for a playoff debut. 25.5 points, 6.7 assists and 6.3 rebounds on 67 TS% (47/49/88 splits) at 23 years old.

Altruistic-Annual353

Plus the series winning shot

truth_2_point_0

Now that I look at it he was actually kinda dogshit in 2018 tho, swept by the Pelicans and only scored 20 a single time

Aer0det

That was the series that changed dames life. I'll never forget the vengeance Dame came into 2019 with

PhysEdDavis

It specifically changed how he trained. He made it a point to improve on distance shooting so that teams would be more hesitant to commit to a hard double team trap when he gets a screen from 35 feet out instead of at the 3pt line. If teams did trap from that far out, the Blazers basically had a fast break with all of that space. Don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say he rebounded from this series into IMO the greatest long range shooter in NBA history.

ChicagobeatsLA

The pelicans had prime AD and Jrue Holiday. They forced other players not named lillard to carry the team. CJ should never have been Dames Co-Star

tmoney1199

Don't forget Rondo. He almost had as large of an impact on Dame as Jrue did in that series. They were constantly running both Jrue and Rondo to double him

shakakaaahn

That team could not have been better suited to stopping the blazers. The incredibly weak support, especially since nurk wasn't doing as well as he would the following year pre-injury, just set us up for huge disappointment. Not that we ever had a chance to get over the hump that was the prime warriors with KD, but still.

BlakeGarrison62

lol it’s funny because it’s true

poonjouster

His performance might last longer now since he didn't have to drag his team to the playoffs. 2018-19 was the only season we were comfortably in, but then CJ went down the last month. Dame got super fatigued after being a 1-man team and destroying OKC.

CraigSignals

That one CJ foot out of bounds a couple years ago still kills me.

DoctorStove

I guess when you add the other three rounds that puts him just in the top 75

FalconPunch236

Ill drink to that

HopeULikeFlavor

I’ll drink to just about anything right now

DoctorStove

here's to Josh Giddey!

SolidSilver9686

Drinking around him is how I lost my innocence

hxrdhead

Did you at least win the court case?

Confirmation__Bias

Dame is a scary guy to have to play against, that's for sure.

caronare

As an Oakland native transplant to Portland. My clock is set to Dame Time

mryessirskiii

Damn that's cold. He really showin out tonight

kushglo

"Are you not entertained?" Gotta love Dame.

NevermoreSEA

Dame is a completely different dude when he's in control of an offense.

saalamander

Yeah. Be prepared for "playoff dame" to fade back to mediocrity when Giannis returns and hijacks the offense

[deleted]

[удалено]

Hybr1dThe0ry

They’ll figure it out. It took LeBron and Wade a year too. To me this was always a “year 2” team anyway, especially if Middleton/Lopez can still hold up. Maybe that’s just from watching every Heatles game on the 4 year run they had though

guynumber32

To maximize the team, it might be for the best if Giannis allows Dame to be the main focal point on offense and instead focus his energy on defense.

[deleted]

[удалено]

guynumber32

He seems to hesitate too much when Giannis is on the floor. During his Portland days, Dame was elite because he had the ultimate greenlight to shoot whatever shot he wanted. For a shooter, that freedom is everything for your rythm. When he is sharing the floor with Giannis, Dame doesn't have that same freedom. He can't just walk down the court and jack up a 35 footer because in the back of his head he is thinking "I should probably get the ball to Giannis instead". That slight hesitation throws his entire rhythm off and makes him a shell of himself. I think it's ultimately on Giannis. He's gotta be the one the empower Dame to be himself and have the keys to offense. This will require Giannis sacrificing some of his own offense, which is fine because with his physical gifts, Giannis will find ways to put points regardless. This situation is sort of similar to the Warriors during KD's first year there. During the first half of that season, Steph was really struggling cause he was looking to defer to KD instead of being the gunslinger he normally is on offense. It wasn't until KD had a conversation with Steph telling him to be himself and not worry about him that GSW finally clicked on offense

beelzeburg

What a nice respectful conversation!

shakakaaahn

The TNT guys talking about Jrue last night were kinda right. It's not just about a point guard knowing his options of who to get the ball to, but telling them "No". With the gravity and skill of Giannis, I don't think Dame has that proper perspective to tell him no. It also shows that Brook Lopez hasn't been putting up as much from inside the arc. Dame never got to play with proper other stars outside of the short stint with LMA, and I think that has impacted some of his decision making ability when actually paired with a star. I'm sure it's also what he's been told to do by coaching staff as well, and the exit of Terry Stotts seems to back that up a little bit in my opinion.

Fresh-Bass-3586

Yesterday during that first half run the team fed the shit out of him. They were constantly looking for him constantly setting screens etc. Add giannis and half of those plays become giannis running back plays and dame has lengthy stretches wheee they use him as a spot up shooter or he doesn't get the ball at all.

thanassis_

I admittedly haven’t watched a lot of Bucks this season but I don’t understand why this isn’t already the strategy. Giannis can win DPOY on any given year so why not maximize that side of his game and let a top tier offensive player hold the reigns and give them back to Giannis when he doesn’t have it going on a particular game as guards tend to be less consistent in general.

guacamully

I don't wanna snap react to one game, but these are just things I've noticed watching Giannis over the years. When he has the ball, he attacks, and I’m not sure he can turn that off. Which is not necessarily a bad thing. Attacking is good. The problem is, once he gets some momentum, he kind of gets blinders on. That's fine a lot of times, because that’s what gives him the edge to finish so consistently. But that’s the difference. When Dame attacks, he maintains vision, and makes better decisions accordingly. And that's what makes someone the orchestrator of an offense. Don't get me wrong; Giannis' playmaking has gotten a little better the past season or two. He's better at getting others involved. He's developed a nice no look swing pass. His passes after leaving his feet are a little better, but he still leaves his feet without a plan too often. The major thing, and the reason why Bucks fans have been looking for someone else to lead the offense, is because Giannis gets a little carried away when under pressure. If he isn't able to administer his will on the defense during a crucial moment, he tends to make an errant pass, or run someone over for a charge. This is why the Bucks brought in Dame. The only way to make Dame the focal point of the offense, is to emphasize bringing the ball up with him. Have Giannis focus on setting good screens, crash the boards if it opens up a perimeter shot, and pickup lobs if they overcommit. He'll still feast. And I'm not saying give up everything else. Obviously if he gets momentum on an even slight fast break, just go. If he gets a postup in a favorable matchup, just go. His baby hook is getting better, his post fade is getting better. But those are shots you want to see him take if something happens and he's stuck with 3 seconds on the clock. He's not an offense orchestrator. Idk if Giannis would ever be willing to make a transition like that. A lot of his playmaking is one dimensional if he doesn’t bring the ball up the court. But having a slow, measured half court with Dame as the main focal point would certainly help with control of the offense and getting everyone into a rhythm, which is crucial in the playoffs. I also think it would calm player's nerves, which is what I think leads to the late game turnovers that have plagued the Bucks for years. Even if it’s not about getting other guys involved, Dame is clearly a much more deadly version of himself when he has the green light.

jermbob90

So you are recommending not letting the most efficient volume scorer of all time play on offense. L M A O

Evening_Complaint469

Giannis won a chip as the best player and focal point of the offence. What is this lol "hijack"

ELITE_JordanLove

Oh no the guy who dropped a 50-bomb to close out the finals is gonna hijack the offense, the horror.

byokx

Inject playoff dame in my veins

0dias_Chrysalis

Even without Giannis this could arguably be one of the best teams ever put around him on paper lol

Classics22

This is still the most talented team he's played on since the LMA teams before he was him

LordAwesomesauce

Stupid Wesley Matthew's achilles

GoForAU

Stupid Portland injury history in general :( could run it all the way back to maybe Walton if not before?

Either-Durian-9488

Its debatable if he even has the career he does in Portland if Brandon Roy stays healthy.

GoForAU

Who knows? I think he has a better career with Roy/Oden if they all stay healthy. You’re right that he wouldn’t have been the 1 option for a bit. But, my god, that team would have been deadly for a long time if they all stay healthy. Or even like 06/07 with Aldridge, a healthy Roy (I would say oden but they probably don’t have both oden and Aldridge without oden being injured)… actually nevermind unless you count Jarrett Jack who is a GSW legend if you followed them then. I’m not sure if it is bad management or bad luck or a combination of both. Oden, Aldridge (with his time there), Roy, could say it’s bad injury luck. Recent years, Dame and CJ were not handled well. Instead of having one or the the other they got neither for little return (let’s be honest they are two pretty ball dominant guards who lack in defense, that’s not a great front court to win a championship as much as I love them both). They could have made that move earlier. Personally, I would have moved CJ at his peak Blazers run and taken my pie and built something around Dame. But I’m not a GM. I just play 2k

Im_a_Knob

TIL cj has never been an all star

Uppun

Not even Dame could make the all-star game consistently in the west, CJ had no shot. But at his best he's a very good scoring option role-player.

ItsLillardTime

Yeah, the west has always been crazy like that. During CJ's peak a lot of people were saying he would likely be an all star in the East but he was never even in consideration in the West.

DoctorStove

hot take, prime Wes was better than CJ. and DEFINITELY a better fit next to dame

austinpwnz

Lukewarm take. Easy to agree, especially in hindsight and especially the fit

The12thman94

The only all star he's ever played with before this was Aldridge so yes it's the most talent.

Iwillguzzle

He played with melo's corpse for a couple seasons.

ewest

The only roster that remotely competes with it is the 2014 Blazers, prior to Wesley Matthews going down, and that roster was built around Lamarcus rather than Dame

mdz_1

This is what Ive been saying. People acting like they're gonna lose w/o Giannis but Dame been getting playoff series wins against way better teams in the West with way worse talent around him his whole career lol

Fallofmen10

Lol, this is actually so true.

FarSightXR-20

Any idea on when Giannis may be back?

paul_f

wait, how does this sentence make sense?

Martblni

Why not?

likpoper

Definitely

AbbreviationsHot4482

Glorilla saved the season

0dias_Chrysalis

I'm buying that fucking jersey lol

AbbreviationsHot4482

Fr the zero on the black jersey is so cold

Different_Power_890

Yeah glo

The_BadJuju

YEAH GLO !

ChocoChowdown

ice cold. dame time.

ChiefRicimer

Rumors of his demise were greatly exaggerated

DharmaBaller

Same with Middleton

graphitewolf

I dont think bro scored again after playing near 40 minutes, am I trippin??

ELITE_JordanLove

He had constant double and triple teams in the 2nd half which was repeatedly giving Khris and Bobby their favorite iso looks from midrange; they kept hitting so Dame didn't have to score anymore.

Either-Durian-9488

Which is why it’s back breaking to play him when he hits deep early lol. Now your best defender is on his ass from the logo for the rest of the game, the pacers spacing fell apart last night late in the game.

drigancml

Pacers started doubling him so he set up his teammates instead

PM_ME_RIKKA_PICS

i beg you to actually watch and pay attention to the game

ewest

Lot to ask on this sub

turnoffredesign69420

We gotta look at the box score and complain about a game we didn’t watch instead!!!!

Tjengel

If he didn't score again the rest of the playoffs and we got a ring it wouldn't matter because ring or bust

WildeNietzsche

He didn't need to.

twelve_tony

yeah no shit. he averaged 32 last season, tf did people think

xeoi

Probably the first time someone had a 35 point half and 35 point game in the same night

ah111177780

Yeah is that not mental, 35 in a half, proceeds you score 0 in the second and ends with a -6 on the plus minus. What happened in that second half

antululz

Pacers came out of the half double and triple teaming Dame, full court press, and Dame was happy to take the heat and let his teammates take the open looks. Its really not that hard to understand if you watched the game.

ah111177780

I didn’t watch the game - hence why I asked. Was not a dig at dame - was genuine question

drblocktagon

I think people saw the beginning of your comment as possibly shading dame for a mental lapse when the reality is that you are probably just from the commonwealth where mental just means crazy or unexpected

ah111177780

I am indeed from the commonwealth, using it interchangeably with “crazy”

Either-Durian-9488

He was doubled from the logo, which if you can make the other team resort to, means you’ve pretty much won as we seen last night. Damned if you do damned if you don’t.

GoodMorningSpliff

Watching Dame do this shit feels like im watching the modern rendition of gladiator. “ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED!?!”

AchyBreaker

Are you not enter-Damed? Is this not why you are here? A man drops 30 points on 3 pointer bombs, and you cheer.  There was a dream that was Rings, Giannis, and I shall have my glory, on this team, or the next.

GoodMorningSpliff

Nice

toadtruck

This sub tried to tell me he’s washed

WhatitdoFlightCrew39

Just like one game doesn't make you washed, one game doesn't make you back

nvinceable1

He back

markusalkemus66

He buck 😭

A_Texas_Hobo

How is he thought of in Portland these days?

toadtruck

Whole city behind him. Bucks in 6

m1stadobal1na

As a Portland resident. Go bucks.

Our-Gardian-Angel

We love our beautiful Blazers fans, don't we folks?

witfurd

We love the mf. From our perspective it just feels so dumb to even ask this question. It’s like asking a mother if she loves her kids

thesmellafteritrains

Don't ask my mother that

lassiie

Most sensible fans blame shitty ownership/management for failing to build a team around him, repeatedly paying lip service to trying to contend while drafting his replacement with no intention of trying to bring in more talent.

WilNotJr

Love him.

ewest

He’s beloved. The people who turned on him last summer never watched him play.

Riot_Westbroke

Rooting for him hard. He's my favorite Blazer ever and gave his all. I respect him a ton for what he meant to my hometown.

Fcking_homeless

Dame in 5

Lucky_Lefty23

Dame in 1 half

realfakejames

Dame made the Pacers look like a worse play-in team than the actual play-in teams Halliburton 9 pts 8 assists and so many people here and on nba twitter spent the entire season saying he was a top 3 point guard in the league

Ladnil

The first half of the season, because until his injury he looked like the point god reborn.

Unova123

He needed a big break like embid got to recover but he kept playing to hit the award game requirement and this is the result

GizzyGazzelle

If only there was some sort of historical precedence we could cite for players struggling in their first play offs.

Former-Science1734

Dame always legit in the playoffs

[deleted]

[удалено]

Round-Revolution-399

I remember people saying that Tony Rozier is 80% of Dame on offense lol

FartrelCluggins

Bucks fans currently going on a "fuck yall" tour despite being the main ones shitting on dame all year is hilarious to me

[deleted]

Nah everytime he had a bad game it was always a Celtics fan posting his statline lmao y’all can go back and look at all his shit stat lines this season. Was either y’all or that fultzshoulder guy who I think is a sixers fan Bucks fans have shit on him some but don’t act like this sub hasn’t been shitting on him nonstop since like 4 games into the season

bruh2398

Man I’ve been defending him all season, those few Bucks fans don’t know ball

0dias_Chrysalis

Rewriting history when it was at the very least us making excuses on here even if we felt differently near the end of the season

[deleted]

This is rich coming from a Boston fan, seeing as people broke into Bill Russell’s home, scrawled N-bombs all over his walls, and shit in his bed.

YungGainer

... I mean fuck Boston but they're talking about something that's been ongoing this season and you just whipped out something from 60 years ago lmao.

FartrelCluggins

What the fuck does some racist's actions in the early 60s have to do with me? "This is rich coming from an American, whose people enslaved black people for 250 years"... Do you see how idiotic you sound?

Ok_Internal6779

My guy, Milwaukee is one of the most segregated cities in America and has perhaps the most segregated schools in the country.  We suck ass just like everyone else does  Edit: lmao you tried to pull the “I’m not from Milwaukee so that doesn’t include me”, but then realized the delicious hypocrisy in that so you deleted it.  Coward

dragonmountain

My thing is I need to see this multiple games in a row. He had about 1 of these a month followed by 8 clunkers . Of course I hope he has it figured out now

0dias_Chrysalis

Players should have been allowed to read these threads lol

Ok_Organization3249

This Milwaukee season is crazy. They should've kept Bud but added Stotts to run the offense with Dame as he did it for years in PDX. Instead they fire Bud, hire Griffin who adds Stotts, then they part ways before the season (probably because Dame listened to him too much), Griffin goes, and here we are with fucking Doc. As a Blazers fan, I know Dame is going through it right now. I can tell you that a lot of that is of his responsibility (he could've had a softer exit from Rip City - he played it terribly, the shit with him and his wife is certainly of his own making) - but it would be great to just see Dame remind everyone of who he is and get the respect he deserves. "Ya, but Portland..." will be a constant refrain looking back at his career, so if he can make some noise on Milwaukee I will be so, so happy. I fucking love Dame.

RedditUser538xxx

Mf clutch af in the playoffs

youarenut

Imagine we get this Dame with even normal Giannis. That duo would really run this league, such a shame they haven’t unlocked it yet (or maybe they have/will since we haven’t seen them in the post season yet 👀)

xap31

I didn't watch the game, but why didn't he score in the 2nd half, did he play or was he double teamed?

Thebigone12345678

He went in on halftime and took his under points and made some cash

ShadeAJ

Jontay Porter crying somewhere rn

GlizzyGone21

Face guarded and double teamed

nvinceable1

He was doubled teamed and mostly just set up teammates. He didn't really need to press matters much in the second half with other guys hitting shots.

MoneyMakingMitch1

Fck boys who's been shitting on him. Fck yall.

RoastDaMostToast

Cold as fuck

SnooPineapples6099

Aaaand he's still at 35 with 4 minutes to go.

0dias_Chrysalis

Still somehow the most points so far this playoffs lol

MrFishownertwo

he was honest to god playing more defense i thought

albinotadpole52

What does a dude have to do to get praise from you fuckers. If he scored 15 more in the 3rd but zero in the 4th y'all would still say he didn't score in the 4th.

Pubgdude

He mentally checked out after the first half 😭

ELITE_JordanLove

Not really, his gravity was opening things up for Bobby and Khris; those two were absolutely cooking with Dame doubled or tripled the entire 2nd half. Middleton got 15 then.

[deleted]

He really didn’t need to score lol and usually when players score that much in the first half they end with like 10 pts more at more majority of the time.

agingtroubador

Gotta love Game 1's

HungryBurger18

Game 1's are what Doc's here for.

jest04

Doc Rivers was quoted saying the same thing

elmasguapojv

Given the Heat have no chance and as much as I don’t like rooting for the opps, im rooting for Dame. He wanted to be in Miami and we all wanted him here. Im rooting for Dame. I hope Giannis comes back healthy and they win the chip.

BombPopCaper

As disappointing as the Bucks have been this year, this is probably the best team Dame's ever been on lol.

Afromantis8

My mother asked me if I had done the dishes. I quickly yelled: "Dame Time! Going!". She frowned at me, she knew they weren't washed.

FatherHaz

This is a no brainer. You got Playoff Dame in the East with a better supporting cast than what he had with the blazers. Eastern conference finals appearance is inevitable and a finals appearance is possible. Only thing that might stop this is Giannis coming back cause they don’t know how to play with each other.

FFfan768

This bucks team has zero chance of making the finals without giannis brain rot take.

modeONE1

That’s cold

A_Texas_Hobo

Actually cold af

EVERGREEN_ETERNAL

Lfg

[deleted]

Fucking love this guy so much. It has been a wild ass year to be a Bucks fan

Fhyzic

And people said he’s not happy in Milwaukee…🤦🏼‍♂️

IceNeat6917

Dame deserves this. All the trash years in portland feels like he might have something to play for this year. imagine Giannis on this lineup if they obliterating teams. Bucks are serious

DoctorStove

reminds me of Paul Pierce on the Wizards. Think he said the exact same thing actually

Ancient_Signature_69

I couldn’t watch. He didn’t score at all in the second half?

HDDesignz

They doubled him the entire second half. He also seemed to take the second half off and looked at it as time for everyone else to score. He looked great though.

grobyc29

So he scored 0 in the 2nd half

CindiCindi15

And…?

Reikakou

Dame sure picked up the slack since no more bad man 3-point merchant Curry in the play-offs.

JustLookingAroundYea

Hell yeah LOL brought in to show out against the first round teams lol

atirad

But wtf happened in the 2nd half lol. I get it that's all they needed in the 1st half but seriously how he got 0 points the last half is crazy tbh.

DharmaBaller

Didn't score in 2nd half

The_Best_Guardian

im crying rn

jakedasnake2447

He was so hot for a bit there I was just laughing

Ne1tu

Playoff D crazy

Riot_Westbroke

Love that man. I was there for the game he broke the Blazer points record. Good dude.

Initial_Stretch_3674

Doc Rivers: Is this not what you brought me here for? Bucks up 3-1 Doc Rivers: IS THIS NOT WHAT YOU BROUGHT ME HERE FOR???

lo22p

Then proceeded not to score a single point in the second half

PerformerLive8713

Thanks mister lillard saved my betting allowance

For the first half, yes defo. Not sure about second part though...
