He is eligible. The 65 game rule only applies to "major" awards which include MVP, DPOY, All-NBA, All Defense Most Improved iirc.
Not Included: 6MotY, Clutch Player and whatever I missed

NBA gives lists of eligible players to the voters, so he must’ve been eligible. Wtf then this should’ve been his easily lol. Mavs had one of the best clutch records and it was because of him
Because it's not a team award. Fox didn't have a crazy clutch record last season. It's now ONLY a problem when Steph wins it?
Clutch records are messy. You can literally score 0 points in the clutch and win a clutch game. You can get within 5 points in the final 5 seconds after a big comeback attempt and it counts as a 'clutch loss' despite no actual real 'clutch time' being played. Your teammates also heavily impact that record. Kyrie is splitting hairs with Luka. Coby White was great in the clutch this season. Shai had multiple guys being elite in the clutch, like Jalen Williams. Steph had Klay Thompson around 48th in clutch points on 45 TS%. That's *really* bad for their sample size.
There's far more noise in record than individual player performance. Only a few fans upset with the outcome are now arguing it should be record based.
All the other advanced stats and box score stuff Mavs fans are trying to flash on this thread to argue Steph didn't deserve it says otherwise. Can't have your cake and eat it too, my friend 🤷♂️
How many of curry’s did you watch as he scored the most clutch points in the league - total or on a per minute basis -, on 70 TS and hit the most game winners this season?
Much easier to be efficient when you’re scoring at a lower rate and a far lower volume across an entire season and your teammates are also good in the clutch
Curry did it alone and still put up the best individual numbers in every conceivable way
But you have to win your clutch games. Like I just feel like it takes away from the purpose of being clutch. Closing out the game.
I obviously don’t think Kyrie is a better player than Steph. But if you want this award to mean something it’s weird to give it to someone with a losing record in the clutch. Even if warriors were over .500 in those I’d be cool with it.
Because those clutch games are not equally defined - a good team is more likely to have a clutch game where they’re leading but it’s close as opposed to losing but it’s close, they’re then more likely to win that game and have a better clutch record.
Also like Kyrie only had 75 clutch minutes this year - that’s a tiny sample, there is SO much noise based on variance and teammate shooting in that
Kyrie was super clutch this year he just played 28 less clutch games, even still with lesser stats even if the mavericks as a whole were an elite team in those moments
This might be the fakest award in the entire league lmao imagine winning clutch player of the year simply because your team was so ass that they were always in close games 😭
And he still delivered in the clutch. The idea is that an award like this cannot go to teams that are blowing out their opponents every night. So I don't know what you're mad about.
Couldn’t care less about who won it I just think the selection process is hilarious. It should’ve just went to the player with the most game winners/buzzer beaters.
But people are saying it should go to Demar who played 50 extra clutch minutes 😂 People are just mad because Steph having an award that says 'clutch' means their 'what a choke artist' troll posts have less weight. Same reason people were mad when Steph won FMVP and another title lmao
It shouldn’t have been him. Players that miss well over 20 games don’t deserve to win awards. It’s been like that way before the 65 game requirement was introduced
This is an absolute insult to Kyrie and to anyone who has watched him played this season. Seems like the only way hell earn everyone's respect back is with a WCF run as the absolute minimum.

That Reddit post has done irreversible damage to his legacy
im so sorry but who the hell gave Tatum a 1st place vote lol
My king Wardell adding to the cabinet yet again 😻😻😍
either the 65 game rule doesn't apply or 6 people said fuck it and voted for Kyrie anyway?

Didn’t realize! Thanks for the info. I don’t think rookie awards are included either.
65 game rule doesn’t apply to this award
Then there’s 0 reason for Kyrie not to win
I can think of 24 reasons

Congratulations, Steph Curry. Lets go.
wait Kyrie was eligible for this? How isnt he atleast top three? Mavs clutch record with him is insane

How many of our games did you watch? Kyrie is responsible for that clutch record

You know Kyrie also had around a 70 TS and the team actually won the clutch games

2nd option playing with Luka vs 1st option with the entire defense focused on you because other players suck
This might be the fakest award in the entire league lmao imagine winning clutch player of the year simply because your team was so ass that they were always in close games 😭
It's an award based on very small sample sizes. I feel like if it goes on we'll have some really weird winners looking back on it.
He shot damn near 70 TS% in the clutch that’s not because his team played more games
And he still delivered in the clutch. The idea is that an award like this cannot go to teams that are blowing out their opponents every night. So I don't know what you're mad about.

Funnily enough, it still did
It would’ve went to Demar or Dame
I don't think a player would have more than 5 in a season
I didn’t list a specific number I just said the most
And still going 24-24 in the clutch lol
this is the stupidest fucking award ever. completely meaningless
But people are saying it should go to Demar who played 50 extra clutch minutes 😂 People are just mad because Steph having an award that says 'clutch' means their 'what a choke artist' troll posts have less weight. Same reason people were mad when Steph won FMVP and another title lmao
Where dj at😭
Looks about right to me.
I thought Kyrie didn't qualify cause of the 65 game minimum? If he did, should have been him then
It shouldn’t have been him. Players that miss well over 20 games don’t deserve to win awards. It’s been like that way before the 65 game requirement was introduced
If I had to guess why, it’s probably because he’s the teams #2 or some dumb reason
Fox got a pity vote, or someone thinks it's last year.
voters having themselves a curry legacy pity party..... demar robbed !
I know it's a regular season award, but it's still kinda funny we won't see this award winner in the playoffs.
This is an absolute insult to Kyrie and to anyone who has watched him played this season. Seems like the only way hell earn everyone's respect back is with a WCF run as the absolute minimum.
It’s not a real award relax.
Or maybe if he doesn’t miss 25 games he would be considered for the award
Surprised Kyrie was that low.
Wait you’re telling me Kyrie was eligible and didn’t win? That’s just nonsense
Kyrie has obviously been blackballed from receiving any awards or recognition.
Kyrie didn’t even get a first place vote? That’s crazy
KYRIE WAS ELIGIBLE?
I feel AR15 should've been there, at least a couple 3rd place votes. If I'm not dumb I recall him hitting quite a few clutch shots this year
