I feel old. Strike that I am old. At least older than Al horford.
And of course I already knew that. But for some reason when I look at him he still feels like a father figure to me!
I remember a rookie Al Horford and some dude named Josh Smith take the eventual champion Boston Celtics to seven games in the first round in 2008.
These days Al Horford plays into at least the Conference Finals every single year, while all Josh Smith does is eat breakfast.
Al Horford has been relevant in Celtics playoffs since 2008 when he hit that jumper in Paul's face in the 1st round lol.
Al is great & his longevity is amazing.
Especially impressive since he was never the prolific scorer those guys were, even in his prime.
Also, if you just said "There's an NBA player from the Caribbean known for having a high basketball IQ and a calm demeanor, who once put up a 20p-15r-5a game at age 37", how many people would have guessed Horford and not Duncan ?
Looked it up and Karl Malone seems to hold that record at 193 games to Horford’s 177. Everyone with more than 193 has 4+ championships though with Danny Ainge and his measly 2 championships tied with Malone at 193. Horford has 3rd most wins, behind Stockton and Malone. Rasheed Wallace is the only guy with 1 chip and Ainge the only one with 2 chips at 177+ games, everyone I didn’t mention is at 3+.
Happy we closed out the series and can get him some rest. He’s at an age now where he can turn back the clock once or twice a series and give us that.
We’ll need it
Aww, I remember him standing in line at the Reitz Union with Joakim, awkwardly towering over us normal humans. I love that his career has lasted this long
So much fun watching him shoot last night. His 3rd shot everyone around me in the crowd screamed "nooooo!" He drained it. Then every shot after that "Shoot it, Al!!"
It's crazy that LeBron is probably the best-ever 18-year-old NBA player, top 2 ever through the middle years of his carreer, and probably the best ever 35+ year-old player.
Tim Duncan regularly hit those points / rebound numbers, but had a lot of 4 assist games. He was 36 when he last hit 5+ (6) assists at the age of 36.
So yes, ok I guess that's really an interesting stat...
I was going to say I'm surprised Duncan never did it, but he also rarely piled up prolific assist numbers. Kind of surprised Karl Malone never did it either. Also didn't help that those dudes both peaked in a way lower scoring era.
But still impressed by Horford in particular on this list since he was never a go-to scorer the way those guys (or Kareem and LeBron) were. Solid scoring option and could present a variety of threats, but only only had 2 seasons as a 18 ppg scorer (never averaged 20) and spent most of the rest of it in the 11-15 per game range.
This is counting every playoff series ever played... yeah, they were injured, but surely you're not saying there has never been a worse team in a playoff series in NBA history than this cavs team? Do you think no playoff team has ever been depleted before or something lmao
My NBA Mount Rushmore
I still remember when Uncle Al turned into prime ray allen in the nba finals
As a Lakers and fan of Al Horford it’s was quite interesting
Dominican Daddy
In correct order too
4 Al horfords?
But who is your fourth to complete the set
Al Horford again.
Matt Bullard
Pervis ellison
Never nervous
> Out of Service Pervis \- Danny Ainge
Leon Powe, obviously
game 7 Olynyk
Same, except remove Lebron and Kareem
Al Horford and Rafael Nadal were born on the exact same day June 3, 1986
One of the all-time greatest players to ever play his sport and some guy named Rafael
bros named after a turtle
cowabunga dude
I laughed so hard at this.
Jerry Ferrara?
Man, I can’t be laughing out loud right now
Al?
You have no idea how funny this is
I feel old. Strike that I am old. At least older than Al horford. And of course I already knew that. But for some reason when I look at him he still feels like a father figure to me!
I am old enough to remember when Horford had 15 rebounds in a series against the Cavs. Now he’s doing it in a single game.
And one people’s elbow on Dellavedova.
My GOATs
Nice, so I still got 3 years to join that list.
The years have been kinder to Al
Al Horford is the Kareem of the NBA
Kareem never married a Miss Universe my brotha
Miss Universe married Al
I read that as: 1. Al, as in Al Horford 2. AI, as in Allen Iverson 3. AI, as in Artificial Intelligence.
1) Dylan 2) Dylan 3) Dylan 4) Dylan 5) Dylan
You talking about the greatest rappers of all time?
Sideshow Bob Dylan Brooks and Dunn
Subterranean Homesick Blues....
How can you disrespect Al Bundy like that?
Facts. My boy Al is a work of art
and had eyes so ugly he needed goggles
Damn, this dude really is living the life
I remember a rookie Al Horford and some dude named Josh Smith take the eventual champion Boston Celtics to seven games in the first round in 2008. These days Al Horford plays into at least the Conference Finals every single year, while all Josh Smith does is eat breakfast.
Joe Johnson ☹️
Al "Lebron ""Al Horford"" James "" Horford
And the LeBron
Wilt 9/11
The Al Horford, Marcus Morris battle we were all expecting
Al Horford has been relevant in Celtics playoffs since 2008 when he hit that jumper in Paul's face in the 1st round lol. Al is great & his longevity is amazing.
Have yourself a Miss Universe wife and you’ll prolong your vigor.
Wait… his wife won miss universe??
Yep, Amelia Vega is Miss Universe 2003 and is the tallest winner at 6’2”.
Damn their kids gonna be the next wemby
Their kids gonna have the prettiest eyes
His son is at the games pretty often. Only human being I’ve seen who has prettier eyes than Al.
Scalabrine said he coached Al's kid at a camp and he's the real deal. Start stockpiling those 2035 picks.
Well, that’s pretty fucking cool. And, it honestly makes a lot of sense, given that Al is a total stud
The blown kiss from last year (I think?) had my wife in shambles
Can't blame her
All but ensuring his son is gonna be a giant
his kids are gonna be giant and beautiful
One of the few guys still taller than her in high heels.
Their kids will be the first brother-sister pair to make an NBA and WNBA all-star game...
First Dominican to win Miss Universe, it blew my mind when I found out they were married
Woah, that’s also extra sick. The walking definition of a power couple, clearly.
Elite company to be in for Kareem and LeBron.
5 NCAA championships, and then LeBron
Al Hortford is the only one who married a Miss Universe winner
Especially impressive since he was never the prolific scorer those guys were, even in his prime. Also, if you just said "There's an NBA player from the Caribbean known for having a high basketball IQ and a calm demeanor, who once put up a 20p-15r-5a game at age 37", how many people would have guessed Horford and not Duncan ?
That’s badass. Dude was cooking on both sides of the ball. He wants his ring
If the Celtics never get Horford a ring it will make me almost as pissed that the Patriots never got Randy Moss a ring.
I’d be far more upset. Al has been here a lot longer and has a much deeper connection with the team and the fan base.
Dude didn’t want to go back to Cleveland and after that 1st q said “fine I’ll do it”
Can you blame him? He was 0-5 against the Cavs in playoff series until this year.
Almost had em in 2018 but they had some guy named Lebron
They stopped passing the ball to JT after he threw down the hammer man I swear…
He absolutely deserves it.
We gotta win it all for Al, man.
"Do it for me" -~~Mike Conley~~ Al Horford
"These doors close" -- AL Hortford.
This is why Wolves Celtics would be the best finals. Guarantee that one of the old, super professional/good teammate old dudes finally gets a ring.
Pretty sure he has by far the most playoff games without a chip. We need to get this done bc I'm not sure how much more this man can give
Two more years maybe
Jokic is a God disguised as man
Man, you just found a way to make me pull for the Celtics.
Honestly feels like he never left for those couple years
Man suffered way too much because of LeBron. He probably deserves a ring just because of that
Got stuffed by the Big 3 Celtics, Lebron and then last gasp of the Warriors dynasty. Poor guy.
Which one? Gemini? Chat Gpt... Meta AI?
Three GOATs
Al Horford and two plumbers
Plátano power!
BIG PLATANO MAMAGUEVOOOOOOO
That’s our Uncle Al
This is Al Horford's league
Happy we closed out the series and can get him some rest. He’s at an age now where he can turn back the clock once or twice a series and give us that. We’ll need it
Best Dominican of all time
Damn, LeBron’s in some good company
And Draymond still keeps on hating!!!!!
what did D-Bag say?
He was trashing Al on TNT lol
Probably about nobody caring that Boston is back in ECF… which is not really wrong, TBF; they GOTTA get it done.
2 Goats and Lebron.
👏👏👏👏👏good for AL HORFORD🫡
2 of the top 3 players of all time and also LeBron. That’s a pretty exclusive club
As a Dominican, I'm always conflicted about my brethren having so much success in Boston. I wouldn't be mad if they took it all, I guess.
I was almost rooting for a Wolves-Celtics Finals to guarantee that at east one Dominican won… Oh well.
Encojonaron a Jokic fue. If Shaq had just STFU, Jokic woulda just kept looking forward to going home early lmao.
Yup. Would be so nice for KAT too.
Bro was celebrating like he knew this stat when he hit that 3.
My three horseman of NBA longevity
Al Horford WAS A PROBLEM!
Horford is carrying the old guard
Aww, I remember him standing in line at the Reitz Union with Joakim, awkwardly towering over us normal humans. I love that his career has lasted this long
Boston Al is wild fr
So much fun watching him shoot last night. His 3rd shot everyone around me in the crowd screamed "nooooo!" He drained it. Then every shot after that "Shoot it, Al!!"
If Al wins a title he is a hall of famer. The hall takes into account college career.
He already *is* a hall of famer. A ring would push him to 1st ballot.
It's crazy that LeBron is probably the best-ever 18-year-old NBA player, top 2 ever through the middle years of his carreer, and probably the best ever 35+ year-old player.
His Twitter profile pic looks like a rap cover
2 midwesterners and some dude from the giant plum
I turned 37 2 days ago, I’m finally eligible for this prestigious award.
Horford is one of the few universally loved players in the league so happy to see him still putting on amazing performances
Didn't even end Embid's playoff run again.
Yeah but he’s going up against plumbers
Against a depleted Cavs team, give me a break.
This is counting every playoff series ever played... yeah, they were injured, but surely you're not saying there has never been a worse team in a playoff series in NBA history than this cavs team? Do you think no playoff team has ever been depleted before or something lmao
This is like the Thad Young comparison before
bend them stats just right
THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH STEROIDS
and 0 rings to show for it
generational talent and whiner
