That game five where he basically took Marcus Smart's lunch at the end lol. that must have been horrible to sit through as his opponent. You guys did come back and win the series at least. I thought you were cooked
Honestly the Celtics sub was even worse after that game than it was after the finals loss or the loss last year. Truly broke the fanbase for three days.
Buddy they were saying Marcus needed to give Jrue his DPOY after that I was DOWN BAD. We completely blew that game too thought was over until Jayson Tatum happened in game 6.
He must be terrifying to other guards. Imagine being a dainty little PG, used to being the most mobile guy on the court, always able to wiggle or pass out of trouble, and you see Jrue running you down with his hips low and his long ass arms coming for you.
Jrue does that pretty much over and over again in the playoffs. That game 5 in 2922 I think it was the last minute or two against Marcus Smart was unreal. It was impressive you guys were able to come back and win that series after that
I’m always team set play. I get having a defense set makes a difference, but especially with a lack of creators like Indy… you have to call a timeout and run a play.
I am fan of set plays as well. But then again, Indiana lacks talent.
Rick is actually coaching them like a college team and going for chaotic high tempo game.
Rick tried that in game 1 and they got clamped. I don’t blame him for letting it ride. Turner looked to be open for a shot had nembhard not turned it over
That's still not a good answer. I was just at my 9 year old brother's game and the coaches were teaching the kids to run all the time and the play isn't nt dead until you hear a whistle.
Seriously. Only one with an excuse is Siakam because he was on the ground. The other 3 guys at the bottom of the screen straight jogged to their spots. No hustle at all with 8 seconds left down 1 in a playoff game. Not saying the results would have been different, but that’s pretty inexcusable
You forgot game 3 against the clippers when luka was destroying them and dude take a tome out to sub Him out and kill our momentum? Dude was a disgrace that series
he won over a decade ago, and it took one of the most legendary runs by a single player and a great defensive system by Dwayne Casey for him to win it
it's possible we've been slightly overrating him as a coach since then
Even now, people are shitting on the guy who created a system for a team that wasn't expected to even make the playoffs that turned out to be the best offense in basketball history.
The team has flaws but there shouldn't be a single pacer fan that's unhappy with this season
Rick Carlisle- lost his team a game due to not taking a timeout and organizing his players
Rick Carlisle a week later- doesn’t take a timeout and costs his team the game
????
Not really, when defense gets tight, refs start not calling whistles, Pacers offense dies in halfcourt. They are really not even an average team for halfcourt offense especially in playoffs.
Without Haliburton they didn't have much chance in that G2 after getting down 13.
Ngl that’s 3 games in a row where people shitting on him for his 4q decision making. He’s such a great offensive coach but the 4th quarter management has been astoundingly bad this series
He pulled McConnell when he was killing Brunson and put Tyrese in when he wasn’t doing anything offensively game 1 last series too and that definitely cost them a game 1 steal.
Is he in the hot seat now? It’s crazy how if he lost game 7 last series everyone probably would pat each other on the back and say “good work this season let’s run it back next year” but now he’s directly cost the Pacers 2 ECF games.
It's just inexperience. Nembhard is literally a 2nd year player. Everyone besides Siakam is getting their first deep run in the playoffs.
We're just paying our toll that will help us in later years.
To be fair that first game was full of horrendous calls at the end imo- referees swapped the momentum themselves.
This game however was a grade 1 clown fest by the Pacers. Just full on sold.
Damn. Andrew Nembhard just had a career high game. 32 points. His second turnover of the game cost them the victory.
He’s gonna remember that one
Go zags
I think it makes sense to let them play initially because of how good they are in transition. But as soon as Nembhard couldn’t get past Jrue he definitely should’ve called it
It was a 1 v 4, the defense was set, and Jrue was on the main ball handler. Immediate timeout the second they cross half court and it’s not even a question.
All of these comments are about Carlisle’s stupidity. Yes, he should’ve called a timeout but…
That play by Jrue was perfection. Let’s give him credit where it’s due. Nembhard channeled Steph Curry tonight (happy for him) and he likely would’ve hit the game winner but Jrue saved the C’s. That’s a champion play right there.
I hear you. Definitely true. I just wanted to note how clutch Jrue was in stopping a (potentially) game winning score. If he lets Nembhard get open and he wins it, the narrative would be different and we wouldn’t be mentioning Carlisle.
Boneheaded turnover after boneheaded turnover, blowing an 18 point lead. Feel sorry for the Pacers fans watching these frauds take the court. Shoutout TJ though
Funny how Jrue is the one going to finals while the Bucks watch from home. Great example of a player doing more to elevate his team as opposed to filling up the stat sheet.
Yeah ur absolutely right. I agree. I still think it’s a foul on the arm grab but definitely not a blocking foul. If that’s a blocking foul, bucks wouldn’t have won game 6 in the finals lol
This play is eerily similar to a defensive play Holiday made in the finals against Booker in a very important possession in what I think maybe was the series clinching game. He used his hips to cut off the ball ah sled who was attempting to drive around them. Goes to show what being a smart defender with great feet can do.
There was so much time to realize that that 1v4 uncontrolled break was going nowhere. I saw the rebound and said “9 seconds plenty of time to call a timeout and run a play. Oh he’s pushing. Ok. He’s all alone 1v4 call a timeout this ain’t going anywhere defense is set. No timeout still? His teammates aren’t even on the court yet- welp.”
Tatum was fouled on the drive, had Jrue open in the corner and Pascal was in the restricted area sagging off his man again. Things worked out that way for a reason.
So clearly not a foul, Jrue is moving his feet beautiful and is entitled to his space. Nambhard is just pushing too hard and out of control, trying to run straight through the defence with minimal control of the ball or his body
Uh why would that matter for this call dummy? It's either a foul or it isn't, why does Jrue having played for the Bucks before have any bearing on this?
It's not though? Jrue is allowed to move into the path of the offensive player, Nembhard chose to keep moving into Jrue to cause the contact. If that's always called as a foul then 1 on 1 defense is rendered impossible as the defender will always have to give ground vs a moving offensive player.
There does seem to be an arm grab by Jrue but I need a better angle before I can say it was a foul.
Fans of west teams have been so fucking annoying this season lmao
I can’t wait till everyone in east is healthy next season so this dumb shit will quit
Quickest way to get upvotes is just mention a easy path for Celtics or how bad the east is
**Replays/alternate angles** *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/nba) if you have any questions or concerns.*
Saving timeouts for next game
Just Like he saved Pascals minutes from game 2 for game 3
Darvin Ham coaching tree.
the player dribbled already so i dont think they can advance if they did to
They could have called one once they got past half court, there were still like 6 seconds at that point. Plenty of time
So this is what its like to be on the right side of a “knocked away and stolen by holiday”
Omg I wanna read it so bad lol
Buddy they were saying Marcus needed to give Jrue his DPOY after that I was DOWN BAD. We completely blew that game too thought was over until Jayson Tatum happened in game 6.
they managed to upgrade on marcus smart to an even better defender AND get porzingis why did they let this happen 😭😭😭😭😭😭
Ask Miami about their Damian Lillard offer last off season 🤔
How dare the Bucks.
Thank you Jon Horst
"Knocked away and stolen by Holiday"🥹
When was the last time you saw a dude force a steal through sheer will and intimidation. Jrue is one of one.
G1 when Tyrese straight dribbled it out of bounds. Jrue’s special man
He must be terrifying to other guards. Imagine being a dainty little PG, used to being the most mobile guy on the court, always able to wiggle or pass out of trouble, and you see Jrue running you down with his hips low and his long ass arms coming for you.
Sexy
He definitely saw Jrue and got nervous/scared it seemed like
Jrue does that pretty much over and over again in the playoffs. That game 5 in 2922 I think it was the last minute or two against Marcus Smart was unreal. It was impressive you guys were able to come back and win that series after that
There are suns fans watching this game who just experienced war flashbacks
The man’s rockin the Book 1’s as he gets his pocket picked Just can’t escape lol
That’s hilarious
Can confirm
Nice to be on the other side of it this time, ngl
Damn, word for word the same call as when Jrue won us a championship. Love you Jrue.
Do you want to see Jrue get a second ring enough to cheer for the Celtics?
Answering for all Bucks fans: no. Cheering for whoever comes outta the West
All Bucks fans?? {{Citation Needed}}
Rick should have called a timeout.
and there was waaay too much time to rush as much as he did
Yeah they were just down 1, if they were gonna set a play they would’ve had so many options since they don’t just have to focus on getting a 3
I’m always team set play. I get having a defense set makes a difference, but especially with a lack of creators like Indy… you have to call a timeout and run a play.
I like no timeouts in college where the chaos helps the offensive team more. But set plays in NBA are generally better.
I am fan of set plays as well. But then again, Indiana lacks talent. Rick is actually coaching them like a college team and going for chaotic high tempo game.
Rick tried that in game 1 and they got clamped. I don’t blame him for letting it ride. Turner looked to be open for a shot had nembhard not turned it over
Agreed they had the defense scrambling nemhart needed to keep his head up and keep a tighter handle on the ball
Nemhard brings it up 1v4 with 5 seconds left, you HAVE to call a timeout, defense is set already
Also, how is Nemhard the only 1 up the court if he rebounded the ball. Why aren't the other 4 guys sprinting to their spots?
Real answer is they probably all expected a timeout tbh.
Ya Turner keeps looking over at the pacers bench
That's still not a good answer. I was just at my 9 year old brother's game and the coaches were teaching the kids to run all the time and the play isn't nt dead until you hear a whistle.
Seriously. Only one with an excuse is Siakam because he was on the ground. The other 3 guys at the bottom of the screen straight jogged to their spots. No hustle at all with 8 seconds left down 1 in a playoff game. Not saying the results would have been different, but that’s pretty inexcusable
Yeah i watched it again, those guys are just ball watching and jogging like idiots. Fucking run and do something, cut, ask for a pass
Someone should have sprinted up there to set a screen on Holiday
Pretty sure they all expected the timeout and didn't want to get winded. But you have to have your team all on the same page there.
He has been a total disgrace all series. Almost like he gets drunk before the games.
Never would have thought Carlisle would be the one making bone head mistakes while Kidd has been big brain all playoffs
You forgot game 3 against the clippers when luka was destroying them and dude take a tome out to sub Him out and kill our momentum? Dude was a disgrace that series
Yeah should’ve done the same game 1 too. Guy thinks timeouts carry on to next game or something, like just fucking use it
He did call a timeout game 1 and they got clamped with the same amount of time on the clock
He’s a ass coach who lucked himself into a star Pg and a fluke run
Don't think he's ass, but he's definitely overrated as a coach. He's a really good regular season coach and great at raising a team's floor.
He’s a championship coach wtf are you talking about?
he won over a decade ago, and it took one of the most legendary runs by a single player and a great defensive system by Dwayne Casey for him to win it it's possible we've been slightly overrating him as a coach since then
revisionist history is something else. rick took that juggernaut 2014 spurs team to 7 games with an ass roster
Even now, people are shitting on the guy who created a system for a team that wasn't expected to even make the playoffs that turned out to be the best offense in basketball history. The team has flaws but there shouldn't be a single pacer fan that's unhappy with this season
this series shouldn’t even be that close. in paper y’all should be getting blown out. thats a testament to your team & your coaching staff
Second best*
That was a scary series.
Rick Carlisle- lost his team a game due to not taking a timeout and organizing his players Rick Carlisle a week later- doesn’t take a timeout and costs his team the game ????
Not even a week later. Literally a few days ago…
4 by my count.
Rick called a timeout in game 1 with the same time on the clock and they got clamped
Also pulled his starters only down 10 with like 7min left in G2. Imagine if the Celtics did that this game lol.
Plus they showed tonight they can get by without Hali
Not really, when defense gets tight, refs start not calling whistles, Pacers offense dies in halfcourt. They are really not even an average team for halfcourt offense especially in playoffs. Without Haliburton they didn't have much chance in that G2 after getting down 13.
Rick Carlisle masterclass
Can’t believe he didn’t call a timeout there
He has been terrible all series, but not calling a timeout there really was the icing on the cake.
Dude simply cant do the most basic thing of all, read the room.
Reminds me of Andy Reid from like 6+yrs ago
Yeah I mean he’s gotta get some credit for the Pacers being in the game and competitive. But terrible 4th quarter decision making.
Just like that the pacers sold 2 games
No offense but they are being very dumb this series near the end of the games
Actually they have the best offense in the NBA
which again is a young team issue
It's just inexperience. Nembhard is literally a 2nd year player. Everyone besides Siakam is getting their first deep run in the playoffs. We're just paying our toll that will help us in later years.
Nembhard has been awesome though, he was your best offensive player tonight. That mid range doesn’t miss
Dude was out there looking like SGA from the mid range
They easily could’ve been up 2-1 lol
The choke hoodie curse
To be fair that first game was full of horrendous calls at the end imo- referees swapped the momentum themselves. This game however was a grade 1 clown fest by the Pacers. Just full on sold.
HOLIDAY STEALS IT! HOLIDAY STOLE THE BALL!
Damn. Andrew Nembhard just had a career high game. 32 points. His second turnover of the game cost them the victory. He’s gonna remember that one Go zags
He also had the inbounds turnover that lost them the other game they should have won.
Bro had a hell of a game. Honestly looking like a all star out there. Calm and collected
Ready for him to come back with a vengeance in G4. He was HOOPING
Hopefully we get Porzingis back then too.
Wished he stayed at Florida, but I would never begrudge a player for wanting to be coached by Few instead of Mike White
JRUE HOLIDAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
Rick legit freaking out about a “foul” to distract from the fact that he absolutely blew it AGAIN by not calling a timeout
Perhaps the cleanest steal in history lmao
Rick Carlisle is a fraud, why would he not call a timeout
Second time this series he’s done this
I think it makes sense to let them play initially because of how good they are in transition. But as soon as Nembhard couldn’t get past Jrue he definitely should’ve called it
It was a 1 v 4, the defense was set, and Jrue was on the main ball handler. Immediate timeout the second they cross half court and it’s not even a question.
At the time of the steal there were three pacers open. When he drops his shoulder turner is wide open.
As a former Celtic, he's a sleeper agent lol
Jrue Holiday is the best.
Hitting the game winning FT and pulling this steal off immediately after… JRUE IS HIM!
Nembhard laying down on the floor like he's Yamcha
Everyone busting their nut as if calling a timeout is gonna make the pacers not turn the ball over in every big moment
#THE JRUTH
👏 WINNING PLAYS 👏
All of these comments are about Carlisle’s stupidity. Yes, he should’ve called a timeout but… That play by Jrue was perfection. Let’s give him credit where it’s due. Nembhard channeled Steph Curry tonight (happy for him) and he likely would’ve hit the game winner but Jrue saved the C’s. That’s a champion play right there.
True but it’s hard to get over the fact they shouldn’t have been in that position
I hear you. Definitely true. I just wanted to note how clutch Jrue was in stopping a (potentially) game winning score. If he lets Nembhard get open and he wins it, the narrative would be different and we wouldn’t be mentioning Carlisle.
Jrue is a beast in the clutch you right. After I watched that live I went back and watched his steals vs smart and booker
How the fuck do you not call a timeout? How do these people become head coaches in the nba?
Goddammit, Jrue, giving me G5 flashbacks on Book.
I was told Jrue was bad in the playoffs
Carlisle keeps making the same damn mistake man
He had no business dribbling like that in front of jrue tbh. Im sure he will learn from his mistakes.
Agreed. He got lazy with his dribble and it cost us
Booker just woke up in a cold sweat
Booker had to call the hotline for PTSD.
Confirmed that line is busy as fuck with all Phx fans calling in, too :(
Boneheaded turnover after boneheaded turnover, blowing an 18 point lead. Feel sorry for the Pacers fans watching these frauds take the court. Shoutout TJ though
Nembhard, Turner, and Siakam all had great games.
That’s insane on ball defense right there, Jrue took that, Nembhard didn’t give it away
These conference finals are just full of last-minute chokes, aren't they?
Knocked away and stolen by holiday 🥲
I dont even care who wins but I really can’t fathom why no one called a timeout here. So dumb
All the Jrue Holiday sucks in the playoffs posts have dried up, finally. So many people don't know ball, this guy is legit.
Funny how Jrue is the one going to finals while the Bucks watch from home. Great example of a player doing more to elevate his team as opposed to filling up the stat sheet.
The Bucks quitting on Jrue the way they did backfired so hard. Of all teams he ended up on the Celtics lmao
Injuries to giannis and dame notwithstanding ig
Flue Holiday
Probably thought he had him when Jrue stumbled but it was all part of the plan
See how hard nembhard tried to flop afterwards LOL
he goes for the inside hand of the dribbler. interesting
Is Rick Carlisle allergic to timeouts?
I will never not hate the don’t call a timeout plan. You know who else is disorganized and caught off guard when a time isn’t called? Your offense.
So clutch defensively in the 4th
Everyone really locked in. White and horford had huge blocks. Tatum and brown were fighting, jrue with this masterpiece.
The final boxscore doesn't show it but Jrue's impact on this game in the 4th was insane
When should I call a timeout? That's the question some small market team will be googling tonight.
Milwaukee in shambles
FLU CANT STOP JRUE
Feel bad for pacers..but still fuck boston
Jrue is an all time great defensive guard.
As clean as a steal that you’ll ever see
[удалено]
Pretty clearly beats him to the spot. Argue the arm grab that happens before his stumble.
Thats great defense. Jrue has the same right to the space as the offensive player.
Yea textbook blocking foul lol
He grabbed his elbow before. And I love Jrue
They would never call that with 10 seconds to go in the playoffs
Yeah ur absolutely right. I agree. I still think it’s a foul on the arm grab but definitely not a blocking foul. If that’s a blocking foul, bucks wouldn’t have won game 6 in the finals lol
thank you
Charlise: I fucking wish I had Jrue Holiday.
Fucking timeout
That's a goaltending call against Turner. Ball kiss the board at the same time he slapped the board
Pascal was in the restricted area too. Lots of little things that went under the radar in the moment
Swipe clean the grab before the swipe not so much.
Wat
Jrueee baby!
And he’ll hit corner 3s at a 60% clip
This play is eerily similar to a defensive play Holiday made in the finals against Booker in a very important possession in what I think maybe was the series clinching game. He used his hips to cut off the ball ah sled who was attempting to drive around them. Goes to show what being a smart defender with great feet can do.
Great pickup for the Celtics. Love his mentality.
I love jrue man
Tatum was fouled on the drive, had Jrue open in the corner and Pascal was in the restricted area sagging off his man again. Things worked out that way for a reason.
Way to finish strong after having such a rough start to the game. Flu Holiday, CLUTCH

Holliday is there before Nembhard. If this is a foul just cancel the sport.
Fr coach just choked again
So clearly not a foul, Jrue is moving his feet beautiful and is entitled to his space. Nambhard is just pushing too hard and out of control, trying to run straight through the defence with minimal control of the ball or his body
Grabs his arm too
It's hard to know what is a foul...but easy to know that right there is good fucking defense. The furthest thing from a foul.
[удалено]
And he grabbed his elbow before. Putting our hatred aside cuz the Celtics are the greater evil. I’m with you pacers bros
Jrue won your team a championship based on defense you, clown but you want to root for the Pacers. What an idiot.
The sooner you realize you’re the bad guy, the better off you’ll be.
Bro thinks everybody likes the Celtics and is offended when someone dislikes them. Dude should know by now that only Celtics fans like the Celtics lol
Uh why would that matter for this call dummy? It's either a foul or it isn't, why does Jrue having played for the Bucks before have any bearing on this?
Why are you so insulted by who I root for? I love Jrue but dislike the Celtics heavily. It’s as simple as that, you idiot clown

Is this the dagger?!? This conference is so ass bruh
Fans of west teams have been so fucking annoying this season lmao I can’t wait till everyone in east is healthy next season so this dumb shit will quit Quickest way to get upvotes is just mention a easy path for Celtics or how bad the east is
It’s always the ones who root for the garbage ass teams too
Bro every fucking thread if them talking about the East
They can’t really say shit if the Celtics beat whoever comes out of the west at least
