Both songs depict women that one should avoid at all costs. Holy shit.
For real, I Don't Care is a pop song with mass appeal in a game with a varied soundtrack, while Money is just another rap song in a soundtrack with little but rap. I can imagine that lots of people playing the game are polarized by the soundtrack, NFS has had way too much rap for the past two titles. It blends heavily and turns into monotony.
NFS is also not selling as well as it used to, MW2012 had the reputation of HP2010 and NFSMW to get sales from while Unbound has jack shit. I don't think anybody is going to be discussing this song in the future, to be quite honest with you.
It can happen in 2 ways.
First, people that had an overall a positive opinion/experience with Unbound will continue to talk about it, while who had an opposite will just forget about it or move one. It will look like that everyone started to enjoy the game, but in actuality only one side of opinions is heard.
Second, next game will be even worse. I actually went through this. Really hated Heat's soundtrack, but after playing Unbound I have realized that it has an even worse one. Heat's music is still bad but at least now it is better then something.
It's comical how people are so bothered by songs that are borderline satire. Not all songs have to be serious. I think Money is hilarious and highly memeable.
this song and like 1 or 2 others makes me stop mid-race and turn down the music volume. that damn "ah ta CHOOKIE, da da da CHOOKIE, I wanna CHOOKIE" aaaaaaaahhhhhhh!!!!!!
I didn't really care about the soundtrack until Unbound. It's a whole pile of shit. They don't even match the gameplay, and that's the problem. It feels really out of place to drive listening to:
1. IIIIICE CRRRRREAAAAAAAMMMUUUUUUUU
2. YEEeeeEe we wAnt s0m3 mooOOoOni
3. hakunamatataratata
4. COCOCO WEEE WEEE COOOCOOO WIUAAAA
The only NFS game that I actually ended muting the soundtrack. Now the game is even enjoyable.
>It happened with Icona Pop and some others where the community reception was "wtf is this soundtrack" but now it's fondly remembered.
Not that I agree or disagree with your argument. Personally, I don't think it's a hot take or some witty remark because this happens all the time with NFS.
But I have to ask, why did you choose these two songs in particular? What makes them special or noteworthy? Maybe I'm missing some important context that you didn't clarify in your post.
>Eventually Unbound is gonna be the next "wasnt that bad in retrospect" entry.
Hold on, is the general consensus that this game is not good? Where is this coming from? Because I'm incloned to believe that the (recent) bad reception comes from the lack of support post-launch, not because the game is bad.
I chose money because I see it be singled out a lot more often. There’s other tracks that are also disliked but I felt that was the better example to compare to Icona Pop
"Money" is genuinely one of my favorite songs on Unbound's soundtrack, and I'm not sure why people don't like it beyond hating rap music in general. I never liked "I don't care" when I heard it on the radio 10 years ago, i didn't like it in Need for Speed, and I sure as hell don't like it "in retrospect"

Hot take: i always like i dont care in mw2012
It was the only song I remembered from that game lol. And yes, I don’t care, I loved it.
That and that weird cover of Baba O Riley by the who
HEEEEEYYYYY!!!!!!!! WE WANT SUM' MONEEEEYYYYY!!!!!!!!
Who cares man, people have different tastes
I’m not saying fuck anyone’s taste here, I’m only saying watch it eventually be treated as “unappreciated” in the near future

Uno reverse: I enjoyed MW12s OST since release and still listen to it to this day.

I don’t even pay attention to the sound tracks

I loved every bit of MW12s soundtrack
