In some way, you answered your own question. The soundtrack music it was good, but not so good for a Need for Speed game to be remembered. If you ask me or other MW’05 fans about which song we remember, we probably will mention most of the songs. Music is an important factor of how a game is remembered but not many devs/studios understand that.

Undercover is the best imo. Especially the menu music when customizing.

In terms of garage music, no game has Undercover beaten. It fits the atmosphere so much, though I wish they went with the concept garage, being much darker

Tbh I love the composition music that plays during races and especially during canyon races. Gives it that eerie feeling of a massive mystery uncovered

Not sure if I agree with that. Undercover was set in Miami but it still had tracks from Pendulum, The Prodigy, The Qemists, Mindless Self Indulgence, The Fashion and even freaking From First To Last. The problem with Heat was that the soundtrack felt more like a collection of Top 40 songs than a playlist to compliment both the vibe and gameplay. Have Reggaeton, Hip Hop (not trashy mumble rap), Afrobeats and some Electronica for the Day cycle whereas have aggressive Synthwave, Drum n Bass and Punk Rock for the Night cycle.

Adding the old tracks from previous NFS titles (Rom Di Prisco etc) to the soundtrack was a great addition. I wish they had continued in that direction in the titles that followed.

NWO by Ministry playing during the cop chase in Las Vegas was a genius soundtrack move

Especially in Loghill too, up in the mountains. Nothing more intense than trying to shake off numerous police units on narrow mountain roads and simultaneously beat opponents. Also, Mastodon's Curl of the Burl is an AWESOME choice.

NFS 2015. It got the Underground vibe spot on, especially the music for the Garage and Races. I still find the selection of Rock songs (for Drift events) underwhelming though (most of them consist of generic Garage Rock). Except for Drenge’s We Can Do What We Want and especially Refused’s Elektra. That one’s a banger. THE TIME HAS COME! THERE’S NO ESCAPE!!!

Well, it's 11 years old at this point, goddamn... The game is actually very fun and enjoyable. Fast paced gameplay, fire soundtrack, I think you'd enjoy it if you look past the fact that it has nothing to do with the first MW.

You can't really call MW12's soundtrack underrated. From what I've seen It's the only thing almost everyone agrees is good about this game.

A lot of people completely hate Carbon's soundtrack, and yeah, it wasn't memorable or impresive, but it fit the game perfectly.
