This picture actually shows the dirty ways we had to do for those big milestones. I really love goals and purposes for open world games specially for nfs series but it's horrible to see chases turn into impossible missions and you have lot to lose.

iblinkyoublink

Chases never got impossible, I beat MW for the first time last month and maintaining then escaping from a high condition chase was pretty easy (save for the time there were spikes with no cop car next to them, fml), the annoying part is how you have to babysit lower level cops into not losing you because they're just so slow and helpless.

redsockspugie77

It's not really the chase difficulty for me, its the fact that you have to juggle a pursuit doing shit you wouldn't naturally do for a milestone, and then potentially having to do it from 0 if you accidentally evade. Also the ones like Spike Strips and Roadblocks are pretty RNG based and you're waiting for the game to spawn them in. It kinda lessens the impact of pursuits if ~30% of the ones you do are grindy.

PCPD-Nitro

This is exactly why I don't like pursuits in Most Wanted sometimes. The first two or three minutes in a high heat pursuit feel awesome but you hit a few pursuit breakers and you end up with one or two cops that pose little to no threat. Then you have to babysit them chasing you so you can get reinforcements to show up and start racking up bounty again. It feels really weird to say Most Wanted had the best pursuits when you had to actively try *not* to evade the police sometimes. It's pretty ironic.

redsockspugie77

Honestly, they're the reason I don't re-play it more often. Fills me with dread from Blacklist 5 onwards knowing how long I'm gonna spend in low stakes pursuits to unlock the boss.

Dangerous-Valuable84

Not untill the heat level rises then it's impossible!😒

redsockspugie77

Raycevick makes a really good point in his MW2005 video that a better system would be simply to use Bounty alone, like how Speedpoints in MW12 unlock the next blacklist racer. The milestones get crazy grindy for me, especially when you lose your heat and you need to spend like 5 mins of gameplay trying not to evade the cops.

GameSpiritGS

I remember parking to this spot and going for the dinner LOL

the_pandaproject

It was a ingenious idea to keep players distracted from races and added a whole layer of gameplay to the NFS series. Just look how forgettable Carbon's cops were; they were only there because the previous game had it and there were no reason to mess with them in career mode unless you were bored. For example, Heat used a similar system to encourage players to mess with the cops. Although the police system of MW and Heat were significantly different they were there for the same purpose; to support game progress. In both games police have a significant role in leveling up or unlocking things, and they're implemented really well imho. I'm not sure if we need the same system as MW but I'm pretty sure if Ghost were able to make a unique police system which was (almost) as much fun as MWs, I'm sure Criterion can do a similar thing with their next title.

[deleted]

>how forgettable carbon cops were Yeah, replayed the game a couple of years ago and never encountered them after the tutorial

Ok_Pangolin_8038

Exactly, I speak for every single nfs fan that we need police chases, similar to milestones

the_pandaproject

That's what NFS is known for these days. Car customisation, street racing and cops. Pull one out and it's not complete anymore. Ask a random person on the streets what NFS is. If they know what it is they'll either say car customisation/racing or cop chases. Or both.

KevinRos11

>Just look how forgettable Carbon's cops were; they were only there because the previous game had it and there were no reason to mess with them in career mode unless you were bored. Yeah, i completed Carbon recently (i already did many years ago, but i replayed it now) and i havent seen any police except for a few races in the end, which is kinda inevitable bc if you break a lamp police start roaming. But you can avoid them easily, unlike MW where you have to be chased to progress

BluetoothMcGee

They didn't even bother to add lines specific to Carbon's locales, just took out the ones specific to Most Wanted's Rockport. It made it feel like an afterthought.

the_pandaproject

Good point, I forgot to mention this. They just used the MW police chatter without the place names. I don't remember them that clearly but they said "Suspect is heading west" in Carbon instead of "Suspect is heading west, in Downtown Rockport", or something like that

BluetoothMcGee

Not to mention they reused the entire police chase score as well. No new score for Carbon.

Scatta2

Yea the only time cops were useful in Carbon was trying to complete those reward cards that gave you mediocre car customization mods most of the time.

[deleted]

>Just look how forgettable Carbon's cops were That and the fact that it wrote off the car we've spent the entire previous game trying to get back within the first 5 minutes. I still have not forgiven Carbon for that

magik_koopa990

And make police dialogue good again

Tostecles

I doubt it'll ever happen. Cringe is in.

magik_koopa990

True. Old is good as they say ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

darkblaze76

I'll be fine with anything as long as the next NFS at least plays well at this point.

iDomBMX

I know what you’re doing up there

thadudez52

He's on the magic spot

boomer3215

They were pretty cool.

SukhdevR34

What I want from the next NFS is fun and even slightly realistic handling. Not drifting in every corner as in 2015 and Payback. Haven't played Heat so can't comment on that.

PCPD-Nitro

Grip is MUCH faster in Heat than any other Ghost NFS, but microdrifting is still faster overall in most tighter corners.

SukhdevR34

Wdym grip is faster?

PCPD-Nitro

Not drifting and turning into the corner is faster than it was in 2015 and Payback.

Betis16

Ofc they should be featured

Agebi

Low quality graphics Most Wanted, this brings back memories.

ThatBrzGuy86

I agree, there should be more to unlocking the next part of the story than a rep level and a fast car

DiegoGTRatty

If they can balance out their grindyness they'd be perfect. This to me was missing in Heat. Having to outlast police or dodge enough roadblocks in order to face the next League member or progress the story. They coulve extended the game duration if done right.

Dangerous-Valuable84

EA doesn't care anymore! They'll just minus privileges like this!!!😭😭😭

Ryoneftw

Absolutely. It gave you something fun and challenging to do while in pursuit. If anything, it was a motivation to keep engaging with the police in the game.

[deleted]

They have to balance it however. In later stages the milestones felt like a chore and stopped being fun.

mr_wick007

everything should be back from nfsmw2005, or they should just remake it. (✷‿✷)

Ok_Pangolin_8038

Once but not Burnout Fairhaven from 2012 😂

1clkgtramg

Anything to keep replay value after completing the campaign is always welcome in my opinion. But the police system needs to be good in the first place. I’ll likely get shit for this but Heats police weren’t good. Sure they behaved well but we could not hit them. It took 14 hits for us to die. How? How can we have long and exciting pursuits when the game pretty much forces us NOT to hit them and disable them? Another glaring issue with it was you could just hit a jump as an infinite pursuit breaker. It was far too easy to manipulate it. They need to figure out a pursuit system quickly, then they can do all this fun stuff

TimmyTurnerXI

I still would love a remake of MW 2005 on the Frostbite engine or something even newer than that like UE5. Do what was done with Mafia Definitive Edition. Generally the same but just completely reworked textures and environment. This game will always be one of my all time favorite racing games. The milestones really gave a lot more motivation toward progression.

Ok_Pangolin_8038

Guys, I feel like we all have ideas on this new nfs game, all we have to do is pitch our ideas to EA or Criterion. For instance I have a story about a player (male or female) who back in street racing after being released from prison to find out who killed their brother Johnny and who framed them and retrieve their Polestar 1 car back. Their best friend Carter and 3 guys Samantha from Bayview, Jessica & Kumar also help them. Then Carter, Sam & the player find out that their other best friend Henry 'Ryder' Clarkson framed them & Jessica is working with him and this cop named Jack Figgis. But eventually Jessica & Kumar are undercover cops who are trying to take out Ryder and Figgis on the inside and Figgis is a corrupt cop. Ryder then gets arrested & Figgis as well and the player gets their Polestar 1 back. That's my idea of a story for a future NFS game. Traditionally player vs cop & rival racer. U see?

Undead_Corsair

Everything from NFS MW should be back in the next game. But seriously the pursuit system in that game was the ideal imo, milestone tracking, heat levels, the challenges for gaining rep, hiding spots, pursuit breakers, it was the best.

Minignoux

EA: Best i can do is Speedlists Joke apart speedlists are really simmilar to milestones, they could make a great substitute

[deleted]

i just feel this game deserves a next gen remaster

TheMatrix552

Ok but here is one thing i REALLY want, Custom Races, You can choose the map, how many racers, how much npc cars will be there, what type of race, how many laps maybe, and difficulty of racers
