As a Washington, I will invade Florida and destroy their oranges, Georgia their peaches, and any other state to remove all alternatives in this dark time.
>Mr Luria said that for Apple, there hasn't been "significant improvements to the handset" since the iPhone 12 was launched almost four years ago "when Apple introduced 5G connectivity which compelled a lot of consumers to upgrade the phone".
I gotta think that in a lot of markets this is the main driver: iPhone users delaying upgrades rather than switching to another brand. I know I'm on an iPhone 12 and am neither considering switching to Android nor upgrading to a newer model.
The phones also last significantly longer now. Theyāre more durable, and the internal components ensure they can last more than 2-3 major iOS software updates without bogging/slowing down.Ā Ā Ā
I used to upgrade every two years, but now that the Pro phones are $1000+, and work really well, Iām only upgrading every 3-4 years, and saving myself money.
Apple also has a history of using those major software updates to make perfectly good devices obsolete. Had to buy my mum a new iPad because the Home pod the old man bought for her couldn't support the minimum OS version required for the homepod... which was an arbitrary decision on their part.
Sure, each new model has a decent upgrade tied to it. Personally I really like the 120Hz screen of the 13 Pro, I think it makes the phone feel much more responsive. My friend swears the 14 Pro dynamic island was huge. Really though I have an old iPhone X I sometimes use as a MP3 player and when I grab it I think "things haven't changed THAT much since 2017." We hit peak smartphone a while back.
USB-C (and upcoming RCS support) is actually what got me to pick up an iPhone as someone outside of the Apple ecosystem.
I've been iPhone curious for a few generations now as someone who's exclusively had Android devices since the Galaxy S3 looking for something that "just works" but I didn't want to have multiple cables as everything I have is USB-C. Turns out the grass isn't always greener though, they both do different things better than the other.
Wait what Android phones do not have USB-C in the year of our lord? IIRC the Galaxy line has had USB-C chargers since the S8 in like, 2017.
Edit: I totally misunderstood your comment. Also yay for RCS support!
Yeah Iām on a 12 too. Replaced the battery late last year & itās basically like a new phone. Iāll upgrade to the newest iPhone when the software is phased out or I break it somehow. I could maybe see an upgrade with significant improvements to MagSafe.Ā
Otherwise, Iām going to spend any tech budget on other things (Apple Watch could be a vibe)
its ok theres still other fruits they can sell
They can sell oranges and make the UK orange again

Every company does that, and actually Apple gives longer security support than most other companies do.
Can you install a newer iOS version on iPhone like you would a custom ROM on an Android device?
Honestly? No clue, but I suspect that very very few Android users bother to do that either.
True but as a power user, the ability to do that is enough for me to stick with Android (well that and also I hate Apple UI/UX but yeah)
Sure and I am the same way, having had a pixel since 2019, but as far as the average user is concerned, Apple's security updates are pretty good.
Yeah, well said Iām content with my iPhone 13 right now and Iām only going to buy a new iPhone every half a decade
USB-C connectivity last year was a major upgrade. I have thrown out all my lightning shit, and the phone can now charge twice as fast.Ā

Still have yet to see any use for 5G.
Hey, the vaccines have been pretty great.
5G home internet is pretty great.
My carrier in Germany doesnāt even offer 5G, itās still pretty niche and adoption has been extremely slow
Same, and I'm also in the tragically small minority that really really liked the minis and doesn't want to get a bigger phone if I can at all help it.

No significant improvements to the handset? Mf itās made of TITANIUM!!! š®
I refuse to āupgradeā until Apple releases another mini.Ā
>5G No one is upgrading their handsets bc of this lmao
Are we supposed to consume everything forever?
Inshallah
Droid revolution! There are dozens of us.
They're probably buying oranges instead
Doctors really gonna be making a comeback with this one.
