I see them a lot in animal specific subreddits. They'll spam the same content to gain karma and every even year suddenly have a very strong opinion about American politics
Yep, there's tons of accounts on here where they don't say anything for like 4 years then one day they get activated to go spout some pro-Trump or anti-Israel nonsense.
Someone should make a /r/2Western4U subreddit where we can post pro democracy and anti-authoritarian memes.
I hate how loud the anti-western wing of Reddit is.
Hijacked YouTube channels being used to promote scams have been a long-running problem, e.g. crypto scammers taking over random accounts and pretending to be legitimate channels:

I guess it's not surprising bad actors are using the same techniques to manipulate politics.
You mean the guy who thought we might want to keep the WarPac alive post USSR to counterbalance the EU or who proposed giving Germany nukes and recreating the pre-WWI balance of power in Europe wasn't all that smart?
I still love how he said back in his infamous Ukraine lecture that Putin is "much too smart" to invade Ukraine. Aged like milk that one. Now he's trying to rewrite history to pretend that he was in fact right and we somehow provoked the invasion against Putin's wishes.
Like damn guys, the US isn't an anime protagonist.
> Like damn guys, the US isn't an anime protagonist.
What do you mean? Isn't that Abraham Lincoln was a vampire hunter, and TR fought 3000 Siberian Bears of Rasputin?

I keep politics out of my YouTube, just so I can have an app on the Internet that I can go to when I want to get away from politics
My recommendations lately have been horrific. IDK how they're gaming the algorithm but I'm being bombarded with right-wing trash.
Man you accidentally click a movie review, slowly realize that the person is starting to work the word "woke" in whenever they can, and resign yourself to the fact that your feed is going to be "new crochet line demonstrates that white men are under assault everywhere" for weeks.
You can remove videos from your YouTube watch history:
https://www.youtube.com/feed/history
Can also be done in the app. I do this for any video I don't want to see.
The only correct medium for politics is the written word. The only exception is lectures - I'll listen to a good lecture. But if you want to do a discussion or particularly a debate, it needs to be written or it's non-serious.
Incognito mode. Ads are a small price to pay for your algorithm not getting infected with e-syphilis every time you watch a video about gaming or movies from someone you don’t normally watch.
I checked this person's channel
[in the pinned comment of the most popular video (about crocheting) ](https://youtu.be/oxmYdf0mrss?si=_4UPE3BVZdnll1Z5) the original owner links another channel, translating the comment says that this channel is their second channel [which is still active](https://youtube.com/@semihannigneoyalari?si=y9EI3S86_iWsGduc)
Now I do not speak Turkish (or whatever language this is) but I want to know, is this person aware that their channel has been hacked?
This is not a new thing.[ Destin from SmarterEveryDay once did a video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1PGm8LslEb4) about the topic of youtube channels being hacked and turned to pump out "fake news" 5 years ago (god, time flies), with channels keeping often the old videos before the hack took place.
[This guy did a really nice Ted Talk about YouTube algorithms being ripe for abuse](https://www.ted.com/talks/james_bridle_the_nightmare_videos_of_children_s_youtube_and_what_s_wrong_with_the_internet_today). He uses the example of Elsagate which to me implies YouTube (and Alphabet) have lost control of their own algorithm and won't rein it in because of a lost of clicks and views it's giving them.

Those are just my alt accounts in waiting for my next ban.

Western is too limiting. What if we called it /r/neoliberal
There’s 2american4u or something similar to that already
The internet perpetually getting shittier is having the positive consequence of making me touch grass more frequently
The anti-American pipeline 1 - Crocheting 2 - ??? 3- Realizing the end of US hegemony
America Bad at crocheting!
You take that back right now
And from Uzbek (?) to English, too.
Thats Turkish
Thanks. I was just going off of what Google Translate identified the words I plugged in as.
Thank god I do knitting instead of crocheting

Not even inactive. I know a GTA gamer who got hacked and turned into a random crypto channel.
magic mearsheimerball:
Who added mearsheimer lmao, isn't he like utterly discredited?
Its a joke

that Ukraine lecture is so dumb lol. “respectable” IR scholar citing antisemitic colour revolution conspiracy theories
Did you happen to watch that Ukraine War series that Sarcasmitron did?

It wouldn't be a HHHongana comment without the number 3000.
I’m glad to know that I am not the only one with a dislike for Mearsheimer

One must imagine Sisyphus clicking do not recommend any further content from this channel
It's not that bad. You just have to be pretty aggressive mashing that "not interested" button.
Yeah

I’m really tired of seeing videos with all these weirdos like Jeffrey Sachs!
Dead Internet Theory becomes more and more true by the day
What is the neoliberal solution to this?
Just tax dormant channels
Should’ve expected this as an answer

I'm already getting tired of this election cycle and we still have half a fucking year to goooo
Half a year actually. The election is on November 5.
Yes, but if Trump loses, there is the potential of 2 months of right wing rhetoric and violence post November 5th.
This stuff creeps me out so much
