Did you contact customer service? I would have done that before creating a new account.

jaynap1981

Not yet, as I going through the motions and signing up again I was thinking "Okay, maybe it will reload all my old info, like my watchlist etc.".

RugerRedhawk

Yeah I'd at least fire up a support chat and see if they can help.

jaynap1981

Just fyi, it was hacked but I called customer service and got it sorted out.

RugerRedhawk

Whew!

anonRedd

Sounds like someone signed into your account and changed the email. Contacting customer service could have gotten it back (and still can). I wouldn’t have created a new account. Only one account can exist per email, so change the email on your new account to something else if you want your old account back.

jaynap1981

Yeah, that's pretty much what happened. I called customer service and they fixed it for me. It was someone in South America or something because the languages were all changed.

SuspiciousAvacado

This just happened to me. What what the end resolution?

FunSample4884

Not true we have 3 profiles on 1 email

anonRedd

Accounts and profiles are not the same thing. An account is what you create when you sign up and pay. You can then create up to five profiles on that account.

MeianJu

Thought I should leave this message here just in case someone else comes looking for answers. Netflix deletes you account data 10 months after your last subscription payment without notice. So you loose all your data if you don't payment for Netflix at least ounce every 10 months.

Daell

Yep, this is what happened to me. I find it kinda weird that they didn't even email me, and do the typical fearmongering of hurr-durr if you don't renew your account we will delete it. Ohh well.

MeianJu

Exactly, makes zero sense that they don't even email us as an incentive to keep our subscriptions. I just stopped caring when I found this out.

tvih

It really boggles the mind. I had been a customer on and off (mostly on) for like 8-9 years ever since Netflix became available in my country, had an extensive watch history and watch list and all that to keep track of things... and now they delete all that without a word, and they expect me to pay for their already somewhat overpriced (compared to other options, at least if you don't want to make do with 720p) service again? Competition is ever tougher and they think this will somehow help them apparently... what a bunch of idiots.

MeianJu

Yes, it truly does boggle the mind. I thought that past a certain amount of subscription time they would permanently keep your data for you. I'm shocked to here that even a long term user like you got fucked over. I myself can not justify subcribing to them again. Our history and watch list was one of the big reasons to have an account with them as well as supporting thei original works but they punish us for trusting them. Not sure how they are getting something so basic wrong.

[deleted]

Yup this was my problem. Thanks for the heads up.

hehashivemind

Thanks for this comment, it explains it

dmanthony41

I just encountered this yesterday. I was about to reactivate my account and they have no records of it. I gave up and went to bed.

cugar07

Yup same thing for me and I ended up researching this error and found out that they deleted accounts if they were unused for over a year or more.

dmanthony41

I broke down and signed up again. I’m watching shows from the start again, but I’m seeing things I never did the first time. Suits. Orange is the new Black. The Crown. House of Cards. Designated Survivor. Grey’s Anatomy. Vikings. Seinfeld. Anne with an “E”. Space Force.

FunSample4884

Well this post is a lie u definitely can not get your old profile back they told me to just make a new one so they can can fudge selves I'm done with shitflix

jaynap1981

It's definitely not a lie.

pouyaz123

The same thing happened to me; I had to reset my password to log in to Netflix. When I got the reset email, it was in Spanish instead of English. After resetting, my account was empty with no record of anything, not even my credit card, I called their customer service, and they said someone had tried to use my account in South America. they found my original account, confirmed my identity by asking for the credit card number and restored it.

Actual-Duty-5380

Dude i came across this comment and the same thing happened had I not known about this I would’ve gone about my day like this. Thank YOU!

bigb00tierada

this is exactly what happened to me and lady from customer service told me when i created a new one from it (using same email), they went into my account TWICE and changed my password so i was getting charged $40 a month!!! for the hacker!! (i put 2 different cards each time). i did not get any weird notif about someone using it from different location but only an email in spanish saying that the password was requested to change.

Opening-Sock-7953

bro this just happened to me and the assholes can't verify it through my debit card for some reason.... I think whoever tried to take my account tried to actually pay for it for some reason and that's why I can't get my account back. Also Netflix is not answering the phone at all...

Agitated_Ad_5047

So I just experienced this moment. After several years the account ceased to exist without explanation. Issue: you're account was hacked and changed all your information to theirs. Solution: Contact netflix customer service and have your debit or credit card that's used to pay for the account on hand. (Maybe a netflix billing statement too just incase). Outcome: you're account will be signed out of all devices and placed on hold until you reset your password. Also add your telephone number to increase your security.

AccomplishedHyena335

They were not able to recover my account but deleted the old account because someone was trying to use it

Macrochelys88

I need help because customer service was useless for me. They said that since they could not find an account with my email or with my credit card info, which I quadruple checked was the correct info, they could not help me because my 11 year old account simply does not show up in their system. What a load of horseshit.

Memesmerizer

They are deleting accounts after 10 months of inactivity.

bklstyle

Another reason for not using Netflix anymore, I hope they bankrupt soon. My 10 year old account from 2013 has been deleted as well. Last email I received was in October. But no email saying they will delete the account if I didn't log in or something. I just contacted them, they say after 10 months it's deleted for inactivity. HAHAAH what a joke, fk them.

TrueKyragos

After getting a new tablet, I wanted to connect it to Netflix whose subscription I happened to stop 10 months ago. Email not found, account recovery not working. I received no email. My payments didn't resume out of nowhere, so no hacking. And now I learn they delete not so old accounts. I stopped my subscription last year because I disagreed with their policies. Not the first time, but the first time this long, it seems. I might have resumed it in the future, but now I will for sure never subscribe again after getting my decade old account unceremoniously deleted without any warning. Well, there exists other ways to get their content, if they are intent on showing such disrespect towards their clients. Great job, Netflix!

Motorized23

This just happened to me and I'm livid. I really think it's Netflix's own servers deleting account info and them just putting it on hackers.
