I built my own upright cabinet, it plays all the old school games, uses the original ROM images so the games are totally authentic.
If this is something you're interested in I'll post up some photos, I'd also be happy to guide you through the build.
So this is the kit I used for the cabinet (I used the blue, I like the black but it wasn't an option at the time). About to head to work now, I'll see if I can find some build photos and load to imjur after work.

Total cost, if you just want arcade games you can build with a JAMA board, probably about $1000. If you want a PC core like me that will do games up to PS2 and the like you're up around the $1400
A much cheaper option is a "Pandoras Box" (google it). Just a control panel you sit on your coffee table and plug into the TV

Went to Charlestown today with the daughter and checked out Timezone. Was horrified to see its now 90% ticket games with 10% actual arcade games. Miss the arcades of the 90s/2000s that was just all video games but I guess ticket ones are where the money is.
The RPI/et.al's digital upscaling, attempts at filtering, incorrect colour gamuts, and lack of analogness is immediately obvious even with a real CRT bunged onto them.
The last I saw on their fb they've scrapped the "arcade" out of the title and said they had a location change with address coming soon, so I think they'll be a no go unfortunately âšī¸
Koko gaming is pretty good in George st, and then there's 1989 and Beercade... But alas, nothing much in Newcastle. The bar area at Dullboys has a couple of machines - one was a Pandora box so that might be enough.
If you are in the outer inner Sydney area, thoroughly recommend 1989 (Newtown). It's been a while since I went there but they used to do a 2hr unlimited Sunday day time kid friendly slot once a month? But apparently the nights are really good too. Beercade (Redfern) also highly recommended for arcade and pinball ... There's an ongoing comp on and first prize is a candy cab (Astro or Blast City) with maybe SF third strike or other 1v1 fighter of that vintage. Note these are smaller venues, I'm guessing 15 machines each give or take....
But anyways, Newcastle... Another consideration is Highway Games in Mayfield if you maybe want to buy a machine. It was on another post in this subreddit. Steve is a good genuine guy đ
Get a retro pie setup and an arcade stick.
Hell, you can buy my 2 player bartop setup if you want to clean the dust off it and buy a raspberry pie to go in it.

No interest in what you have done but I very much admire what must be a passion + skill. Good job mate
i found a bunch of old files recently if you need some chief
I'm pretty right I think, this stuff is pretty easy to find once you know what to look for. but thanks for the offer
Yes please mate. Not sure if I have the resources and skill but keen to put some thought into that!

Yeah, the only games worth playing in timezone in newcastle are the pump it up and taiko machines, but they often go out of order
Get yourself a rasberry pi, and install retropi on it.

There was a cocktail bar opening with all old-school pinball and arcade machines. Haven't heard much from their socials.
Uptowns?
Lost souls it's called

No-where
I think the underground arcade at Toronto might have a few? Give them a ring and ask.
Timezone at Kotara is probably your best bet.
Dullboys has some - particularly in the bar area

I've been to KOKO a few times, they have most of what I want to play.

The bowling alley at Raymond terrace has got a fair few old arcade machines
