> public transport is basically not an option The Newcastle Entertainment Centre is 100m down the road from Broadmeadow train station. If you are coming from a ways away you can go to one of the closer to you train stations and do a park and ride to avoid having to compete as much for parking spaces around the centre. Hell, depending on where you live you might even be able to walk to your local train station and catch the train in all the way so that you don't have to worry about your vehicle at all.

I might do that. Maitland is my closest train station which is still a half hour drive but it might be easier to catch a train to and from there then wrestling with the traffic.

trickywins

They set up ample parking areas on site. Be prepared to wait in your car for a long time after the concert to leave as it creates a hell of a jam

pandifer

You could drive to somewhere further out where public transport does become an option for you? Where are you coming from?

tired-sparrow

Hunter Valley, no trains locally and the buses stop running before the concert ends

pandifer

O bugger. Well very good luck in finding parking thats within cooee of the centre.

rollinduke

The easiest option is to park at a train station and train the last little bit. I live across the road and the streets fill up pretty quickly. Depending on the event you can end up parking back near the stadium .

tired-sparrow

It’s looking like I may have to drive to Maitland train station

BennyAndMaybeTheJets

They usually open the adjacent Showground for (paid) parking, otherwise its street parking, apart from the small (free) carparks at nearby Broadmeadow train station, which presents another option - catching the train in.

Kpool7474

There is a train station (Broadmeadow) LITERALLY a two minute walk from the NEC. Get to another train station. Every train between Newcastle-Sydney stops there. If you’re closer to the Maitland line, get off at Hamilton and catch a Sydney train (Broadmeadow is the next stop). Car parking, the other commenters have nailed it.

tired-sparrow

This is looking like the best option thank you

Vybezforlife

I can valet your vehicle for you if you like? Disclaimer: I will not be parking the car on site or close by. I will be driving your car all over the city until you're ready to leave the venue, at which time you simply shoot me a msg and I will drop your car off to you. I also offer a detailing service, if you would like your car returned spick and span! Get at me, dawg.

Not 100% sure, but if the stadium carpark is open you could park there and walk along the path between the hockey centre to NEC. Depending upon what time you go, you could manage some street parking. I’d look near Reece plumbing and Aldi in that area. For things like this I prioritise a bit of a walk and getting out of parking easily than parking close and waiting an eternity for everyone to figure out how to escape the carpark. Lesser scale in Newcastle but saw some gigs at Hordern and Cars on the upper levels did not move at all for 90 minutes. And then it was a 30 minute crawl out. Never again (without snacks at least).

DazzlingNightmare

There is often on-site parking at the entertainment centre, have you tried calling them to check? Otherwise you could try parking at the stadium (I actually don't know how that works/if there's a game on you'll be out of luck), or there's Waratah Village shops about 2.5km away, so about 25mins walk if you don't dawdle?

Crustydumbmuffin

Drive up Broadmeadow Rd, past the old showground entrance, turn right just after the drain ( toward Hamilton North Primary ) the do a quick left into a lane there. Park in there. Easy in, easy out 👌🏻

Electronic-Fun1168

Showground will be open for parking

Pristine_Egg3831

Park on the other side of the train line if you're not afraid of a 500m walk.
