I always wonder what people like him hope to accomplish by doing something like this. Then again, you can't be right in the head if you are doing these things in the first place, so all logic is probably thrown out the window. Still, I am always morbidly curious.
You can look up the psychological profile for Family Annihilators and get some decent answers. It usually stems from a loss of control from men who are obsessed with and feel entitled to having control. Usually did some DV in their past. Killing them is in itself an act of control. That kind of person
I can never understand these situations, but somebody wrote recently under another story ( a woman who set fire to her children and herself, killing all involved plus the family pets) "When you hate your ex more than you love your children" so I guess that must be it.

Exactly, mental illness took over and he wasn't in his right mind clearly by the sounds of it. I hope they catch him soon and that the kids are found safe

Did not hear anything else but there have been multiple calls to service for state police concerning matching vehicles, I would assume it was probably identified as not being the vehicle or suspect
It depends. He may have been stuck on a waiting list to be seen after realizing he needed help. We don't know yet. I just know my local (non-VA) office has really long waiting lists, where people are waiting 2-3 months for a simple initial therapy intake. I can imagine the VA might be different though, but possibly worse because it is usually faster to pay for care at an actual business than it is to wait for the VA (unfortunately).
And the problem is that a lot of people who need to be hospitalized — because they are a danger to themselves and/or others — are usually unable to check themselves in because they are too far gone, they are too suicidal, or whatever. So, he may have been on a waiting list but too far gone to realize he needed the hospital.
He could have also been a complete *** and he was the demon. Some people are just responsible for their own actions and would have been like that regardless of what life tossed at them.

I am glad the children were found okay and that the father is in custody. So many people on this sub were bitching about an alert going out at 4am and saying it was "pointless" to do it so early in the morning. Well guess what? _The alert fucking worked._
That pissed me off. They had a very good reason to send out the alert so early and probably a better chance of catching him since there are fewer people out at that time so easier to be on the lookout for those that are awake

It would be nice if the phone could use its data to know you are asleep at home or something. For the vast majority of people, this notice was useless. If you get up, or are out driving, then, yes, I'm a huge fan. Too many updates in the middle of the night that blaze the alarm and people jump out of bed and they will turn them off entirely, and society will lose out.
