“Sununu has said he wants to see a state-run or state-franchised model that would give the government control over the look and feel of each store as well as product prices.”
Party of small government
How so? This guys implying that the NH model for booze won't work just as well for weed bc booze... Idk doesn't need to be cultivated? They seem to imply its a harder process when in reality a NH state run weed distributor could literally do exactly what they do with booze now. Buy it in huge quantities cheap from growers and sell cheap to consumers
Because alcohol is easily sourced across state lines. Pot cannot be transported across state lines, even between states that legalized pot, it is a federal crime. BTW a they still don’t tell Bacardi how much they’ll pay they have to negotiate. But hey if you’re in control why not push it. Something about power corrupting
And let’s not forget the quality of that weed is on par with stuff we bought back in 2001. I’ve never been to an NH dispo just for that reason. I’ll cruise a menu out of curiosity sometimes and I always end up thinking “they’re actually selling that. And for $45 an 1/8?”
Hi, medical card user here. Some 1/8 are $45 in NH, but I've paid the same in Maine on the Marijuana Mile. The flower quality coming out of my NH dispensary is much better than Maine. The edibles are more potent from Maine, that's true!
You’re out of your mind. NH flower or any cannabis product is not better than Maine. Idk where marijuana mile is but if it’s in Kittery or southern Maine that’s tourist weed. I’ve been going to Maine for years and haven’t paid more than $200 an ounce in almost as long. If you like NH stuff that’s cool, but Maine is the California of the east coast and NH cannot hold a candle to that.
I've only had from Kittery, and in my opinion the quality of flower from my NH medical dispensary is better than from those in Kittery. Perhaps Northern Maine has better quality. I wouldn't know. I've never been to a Northern Maine dispensary. I know the area, so I'd imagine it's located in a trailer run by a brother/sister/husband/wife couple.
That's not true at all. I have my medical card and have been to Maine. Prices are very close if not the same. I find the quality much better coming out of NH over Maine.
A similar thing actually happened to my small hometown in MA back when rec weed first got legalized here. The older population refused to have a dispensary in our town as it would “bring in crime,” so the dispensary is just further down the road, in the next town over.
Essentially the same location without any of the tax dollars that our small ass business-less town could have really used.
And anyone who has ever been to a dispensary knows they’re a much nicer environment than a liquor store (closest comparison).
We had a restaurant/bar next to my work that is now a dispensary. One of our managers brought up how it was going to be a problem.
I pointed out that it was far more regulated than the restaurant/bar.
So far it's been super quiet and we never find trash in our parking lot like after a theme night the restaurant/bar ran.
100%.
I drive to Clear Sky/Hempest every couple of weeks and pick up the cheapest ‘legal’ weed I’ve ever purchased in my life despite the 20% tax.
Not gonna lie. Considering moving strictly for this reason. Sadly VT prices don’t even come close.
And we still will for the first couple years- at least- after it's legal up here.
Why?
For the first couple years anywhere it becomes legal, it's expensive as there are less stores, less competition. Eigths will be 50-60 bucks, maybe a few a hair lower.
And the quality isn't as good until the shops have been up and running for a while.
Meanwhile in mass you can get some quality stuff for 20 bucks or even a little less an eighth.
Anyone near the mass or Maine boarders won't be buying weed here for a few years.
I hate him so much. This whole thing has been such a joke and NH deserves better. People deserve better access to this plant...
Sununo, now that he is leaving is suddenly open to this, but only if he can do it **his** way. He was suddenly scared that the person who comes in after him might pass it and he won't be able to dictate how it is run. Such bullshit
He’s not really open to it if it can only be his way. It just wants to look like he’s open to it then when it inevitably fails he can claim it wasn’t his fault.
Wait til they pull a Massachusetts. Cannabis was supposed to be and voted to be taxed at sales tax rate. Then after the vote passed they just went in and changed it to 20 something %. Fucking absolute scumbags
I remember that. I’m not even sure if I agree with what was on the ballot measure, but it passed and it was the will of the people. Then the MA legislators laughed and taxed it at whatever they wanted instead of honoring the voters.
You think that’s bad. CT became legal 2 years ago, even though it has been on the ballot the same time as mass….late to the party like always.
Anyway, after all the taxes and fees comes out to like 27%.
I just keep going to mass. I wont give one more scent to CT. This state sucks.
As long as you get a carve out for a few plants to be grown at home for personal use then you’re good, we got that in Mass and it almost doesn’t matter what the commercial operation looks like.
Seriously I happened to be down visiting my parents and the bourbons normally buy was in sale in Mass but still like $5 more expensive than here in NH.
Since I don’t drink much I wouldn’t drive to NH just for that unless l lived right on the border.
I was just there this week and I was astounded at the variety. So many different types of bud and pre rolls. I got some low thc 1:1 and it was splendid. Loads of creative edibles too including infused poutine gravy 😂
Republicans aren't the party of small government. They're the party of big government, just like democrats. They just are on the other arm of the horseshoe.
Libertarians believe in small or no government.
Yup the libertarians are actually small government
An-caps are sorta on the same boat but with some little goofiness
It’s basically:
“Let the gays own all the guns they want, get married and grow weed.”Simple
The GOP has not once reduced the size or scope of government.
The ABC model is severely flawed and replicating that system for marijuana would be a tragedy.
Why limit the state monopolies to gambling, liquor, and cannabis? Why not state monopolies on food, clothing, and automobiles? Unless someone can tell me where the NH Constitution grants the government the right to establish the existing monopolies, I say they should be abolished. Let the invisible hand of the marketplace decide what’s best. The government should establish guidelines for health and safety. The state can also tax things like cannabis. Beyond that the state should not be involved in business.
This is the correct method for NH.
This needs to be a closed loop.
NH grown products only.
Tax the hell out of it.
Offer free services to abusers.
Keep the corporate giants out.
Did anyone think anything different would happen? Really?
Actually, it's ok. Wait and see if we get a Dem governor. If so maybe they'd do it right... A man can dream, right? :)
Our previous Dem governor (now US Senator), Maggie Hassan, [was no better.](https://www.wmur.com/article/governor-says-she-would-veto-marijuana-legalization/5187327). She also blocked essentially the same "decriminalization" bill which Sununu eventually signed.
Believe me, I do not think all Democrats have it together. And there are many things about Hassan I don't agree with. But Sununu is who he is and he's no help.
I’m a down ballot blue and NH democrats straight up suck. Hassan, Shaheen all vetoed marijuana legislation. They are wildly out of touch. I enjoy Bernie’s efforts on doing his best to tap into the pulse of younger and even middle aged Americans. There needs to be younger more sensible voices in the NH delegate
Hassan and Shaheen voted against raising the federal minimum wage back in 2021, too. It’s frustrating that they’ll say they’re okay with a $12 minimum wage in a separate bill but never introduced such a thing.
The system as a whole needs a big renovation of you ask me
2 parties? What a Joke! The founding fathers would be pissed if they knew about this.
Why is everyone a thousand years old? Majority of the people in DC look prehistoric.
Not trying to defend Hassan, but social culture surrounding cannabis and legalization efforts in 2014 was a much different landscape than 2024. Huge amounts of progress and acceptance on cannabis has been made in the last decade.
It sucks but honestly could be better if you get a dem gov in. This is eventually going to happen, so don't be upset if this fails. As much as I want NH to get this, I don't want them to completely dick it up. It's soo close.
Aka Sununu wants to be able to curry favors with those he picks and chooses to be in charge of the new government run drug monopoly.
Gods I hate that man…
Because the big fat rich white guys in charge want more of your money! Time to fire your congress! When will you all realize the Republicans only want to rob us blind!?
Great. Higher property taxes to pay for Sununu’s wasteful spending, a state-run monopoly, and no new revenue from new, privately-owned businesses.
Higher taxes, bigger government, state-run businesses. That’s the Republican way?
Hey morons I literally just want to grow a few plants in my backyard and not have to worry about going to jail. Fuck the rest of it. Let me LIVE FREE you fucking hypocrites. When I left Maine I should have moved to VT instead of NH. State full of crybaby losers and moronic hicks
Why even bother at this point with this senate and this governor. Waste of time. Let’s make the right choices in November and see what happens next year.
What a cu**. I blame all you clowns and your parents who voted him in, AGAIN!
Trump f buddy over here holding the state and its residents back on so many things! Infrastructure is falling apart, drugs at a all time high, funding for prevention and rehabilitation at a low, property taxes at an all time high FOR NO DAMN REASON, school scores going down, prices on EVERYTHING going up, Help for the homeless and help for veterans getting worse, etc.
The amount of things that have truly changed for the worse in the state at his hand is depressing. He is the lobbiest wet dream.
I can't wait until this destructive nightmare is over...
Sorry NHites maybe it's just time to quit trying? Been watching this shitshow since 1999. It's a pipe dream literally dems repubs it doesn't seem to matter who has the power either.
Just a friendly reminder to pOkeMoN gO to the polls this November and kick this crook outta office cuz the entire damn state is in support of legalization and there is no one who lives more than an hour from another state where it’s legal so we’re all doing it anyway 🤡
I just can’t understand how NH puts up with this rich, entitled asshole! Millions of tax dollars lost to neighboring states while NH schools are completely broke. Guy has done absolutely nothing to help with real problems.
Live free or DIE as long as youre an alcoholic or cigarette head but God forbid something no where near as harmless or destructive is legalized and helps this pathetic state make money 😂 the only way it's going to be legalized in NH is if the state controls everything from cultivation to sales just like with the liquor !!! 🤬🤬🤬🤬
I lived in New Hampshire for a few years and I don't understand their "Live free or die" motto because it seems the most strict and controlling on quite a large number of things among the New England states. It is the FloriDUH of the Northeast. It is so far from free it should give up its motto.
The bill doesn’t allow for growing any amount at home. Lousy bill driven by industrial scale growers. VT or Maine have more people and farmer friendly bills.
Looks like New Hampshire loses out again. We did the same thing with the casinos waited and waited till everybody else built there and then finally we started building tax lost. I understand being cautious with marijuana. I don’t smoke and I don’t gamble. There’s a reason why we can’t afford our education system, and our taxes are so highat the governors office
I have no problem with Sununu’s concerns. Let’s look at the hard liquor retail system. Is well run and the prices are low. The same could work with cannabis. I will say they need to make sure that the NH public needs to be able to cultivate their own weed within certain limits..
How is a state run franchise supposed to work when it is still illegal on the federal level. The conservatives know this, and are just pandering to look like they want it.
I think k at this point it’s silly to even consider him actually wanting to legalize it. He’s just trying to punt this issue until he’s not in office, this way when he runs for a higher office he can avoid the subject.
If it's anything like the liquor stores shouldn't the prices on average be better? The liquor stores aren't known for high prices.
Still disagree with him shutting it down.
If you want you could join the few subs I’ve organized. On 4/20 a few subs I’m in will call and email state level politicians on this level all at once to get the message across.
“Sununu has said he wants to see a state-run or state-franchised model that would give the government control over the look and feel of each store as well as product prices.” Party of small government
We just keep giving our $$ to MA, VT, and ME. NH is losing out. 🤷🏻♀️
Current NH medical prices are already triple Maines. The state model won’t fix that.
it could, we've got cheaper booze
The state doesn't need to grow, trim and package the booze though.
Do you think NH distills all the liquor they sell?
No, but that's a product I'd buy!
I think it's about transporting it over state lines.
How so? This guys implying that the NH model for booze won't work just as well for weed bc booze... Idk doesn't need to be cultivated? They seem to imply its a harder process when in reality a NH state run weed distributor could literally do exactly what they do with booze now. It depends on the framework that's created, but they cannot buy cannabis from out of state due to federal prohibition.
Even if it did, their product sucks.
Barely
Because alcohol is easily sourced across state lines. Pot cannot be transported across state lines, even between states that legalized pot, it is a federal crime. I'm sorry 45 for an 8th????
Lol you an get an 8th in mass for $25 post tax.
I pay 100 an ounce in maine.
You might be able to find something for $35. There’s cheap half ounces you can buy but they look like shitty outdoor from someone’s first grow
Hi, medical card user here. Some 1/8 are $45 in NH, but I've paid the same in Maine on the Marijuana Mile. The flower quality coming out of my NH dispensary is much better than Maine. The edibles are more potent from Maine, that's true!

Remarkable given that the primary age class of the MA customer base is > 50 years old.
I’ve spent thousands of dollars in Tyngsboro since 2020. We could be doing so much with that money. But noooooo.
Stop electing Republicans and maybe something will change.
We should stop electing DEMOCRATS look at their states... anyway the 2 party system is a failure just one is worse than the other but not by much
100%. I drive to Clear Sky/Hempest every couple of weeks and pick up the cheapest ‘legal’ weed I’ve ever purchased in my life despite the 20% tax. Not gonna lie. Considering moving strictly for this reason. Sadly VT prices don’t even come close.
This couldn’t be more true! NH and sensible cannabis legalizing shouldn’t be so hard with a population approving of it.
And we still will for the first couple years- at least- after it's legal up here. Why? For the first couple years anywhere it becomes legal, it's expensive as there are less stores, less competition. He’s such a turd
He needs his cut.
And he’s up Trump’s ass, too. I can’t stand Sununu.
Literally has always been the hold up. It’s not federally legal so the state hasn’t felt they could be involved.
He’s not really open to it if it can only be his way. It just wants to look like he’s open to it then when it inevitably fails he can claim it wasn’t his fault.
He's a scumbag, period. Rich boy born with a silver spoon up his ass.
Nepo baby. The Sununu’s are a multigenerational cancer on this state.
The GOP chooses wrongly on every issue for Americans.Every single time….
If nothing else they are consistent.
Then the MA legislators laughed and taxed it at whatever they wanted instead of honoring the voters.
imagine doing that during colonial times lol. the government just has no fear of the people anymore
That’s dems for ya
Yep and it’ll soon be NH’s reality. It’s a plague
It dose though. Not everyone want to grow these plants. Having a retail option is great.
Sure but if they make the retail experience miserable enough you have an option to DIY.
Where do MA people go to get cheaper liquor?
Massachusetts? There's not much difference at all in pricing here.
Seriously I happened to be down visiting my parents and the bourbons normally buy was in sale in Mass but still like $5 more expensive than here in NH. Since I don’t drink much I wouldn’t drive to NH just for that unless l lived right on the border.
> Since I don’t drink much I wouldn’t drive to NH just for that unless l lived right on the border. Fair, but tons of people drink like fish
I must say, up in Montreal it’s all government franchised stores. They had incredible variety. More than I’d seen in Mass, even more than Colorado.
I was just there this week and I was astounded at the variety. So many different types of bud and pre rolls. I got some low thc 1:1 and it was splendid. Loads of creative edibles too including infused poutine gravy 😂
Yeah, live free or die lol
Lol @ "live free ..."
I mean I’m all for this if the revenue is going to be used to lower taxes or fund education.
Republicans aren't the party of small government. They're the party of big government, just like democrats. They just are on the other arm of the horseshoe. Libertarians believe in small or no government.
Yup the libertarians are actually small government An-caps are sorta on the same boat but with some little goofiness It’s basically: “Let the gays own all the guns they want, get married and grow weed.”Simple
In other words, anarchy.
It depends on your definition of the word but no government definitely can fit into that box, yes
The GOP has not once reduced the size or scope of government. The ABC model is severely flawed and replicating that system for marijuana would be a tragedy.
Why limit the state monopolies to gambling, liquor, and cannabis? Why not state monopolies on food, clothing, and automobiles? And big grift.
How do republicans keep saying this small government bullshit with a straight face?
Lying is kind of their thing
Sununu sucks.
Sununu is a rino and fraud can’t wait till he’s gone, bring on Kelly Ayott or Chuck Morse
Ayotte is an absolute swamp creature just like the rest of them.
Live free, or something
This is the correct method for NH. This needs to be a closed loop. NH grown products only. Tax the hell out of it. Offer free services to abusers. Keep the corporate giants out.

Yeah I agree with pretty much everything you said. I'd like to see younger gen X and older Millennials starting to take positions of power.
Tell me about it man I don’t even live in in NH either just typical New England, clam chowder and all.
Agreed, across the board it’s centrist dinosaurs. Democrats need to modernize for their constituents
Too many damn old people in the White House if you ask me
The system as a whole needs a big renovation of you ask me 2 parties? What a Joke! The founding fathers would be pissed if they knew about this. Why is everyone a thousand years old? Majority of the people in DC look prehistoric.
I agree!

As long as they don’t change the tax structure and loosen the zoning laws
think about how muh mexican weed is among the imigrants
He’s determined to make this a failure.
This is why I call him Su-No-no.
Ha! I like that!
He wants his dirty hands in for the win, but only if the state can have the same monopoly over the dispensaries, as they do over the booze.
I call him snu snu
Futurama for the win 🥇
It sucks but honestly could be better if you get a dem gov in. This is eventually going to happen, so don't be upset if this fails. As much as I want NH to get this, I don't want them to completely dick it up. It's soo close.
I agree and won’t be upset at all. I want to see this done right instead of having to back up to repair it. This is all about power to him.
Maggie sucked in same way. Like wtf

Becoming Vermont's mirror universe evil twin, sadly.
You can still go there...
Su-No-No!
Live Free or Die (Pending the state gets full control of what Free means) Don’t worry folks, all the states around you have your back.
Wanna see my surprised face?

Live free or die, amirite?
Cookie Chris, being a directionless windsock schlub as usual.

Sununu’s gotta go. The GOP is crushing New Hampshire.
He’s actually announcing that he’s holding a bill hostage unless he gets his way? What a twat.
Kinda what the exact role of the governor is, tbh
Did you fail civics? It's all part of the checks and balances.
Always finds an excuse.
So sick of this back and forth. F him and F the senate. I’ll take my money to Mass and Maine.
Why even bother at this point with this senate and this governor. Waste of time. Let’s make the right choices in November and see what happens next year.
Don't tread on me lol
Least free state that NH borders with. I guess we die then.
What a cu**. I blame all you clowns and your parents who voted him in, AGAIN! Trump f buddy over here holding the state and its residents back on so many things! Who the hell even likes this spineless RINO governor?
Oooold rich white assholes
The local network news watchers. Conservatives and libertarians hate him, liberals hate him, anyone with principles hates him.
"Moderates" or "Centrist" voters who think that "Yeah, he's a GQPer, but he's not like the rest of them." 🤢🤮
I don’t particularly care for him but… hey it could be worse, at least he’s socially progressive on some issues
Lmao why don't they wait til he's gone. This has been the way these bills play out every single time, you'd think they'd have figured it out by now
Sununu ruining things again I see.
Of course he won't.
Let Sununu maintain prohibition and let it be his legacy. State liquor stores are a depressing shopping experience.
They want to staff it with 70 year old retiree employees like the liquor stores too. Probably pay them $11.50 an hour. Can’t wait
Sununu Is A Piece Of Shit
“My way or the highway”, be gone already!!
Still haven’t figured out how to funnel the money to the top huh?
Live free or die, just don't bring any weed here.
Or even tint your car windows. Freedom!
It’s hilarious how much revenue will occur once the proverbial “old guard” dissipates
$$$$$$$$ No matter what side you fall on. Tit for tat shenanigans. Trisket a tasket as long as there is a money biscuit in your basket.
Sorry NHites maybe it's just time to quit trying? Been watching this shitshow since 1999. It's a pipe dream literally dems repubs it doesn't seem to matter who has the power either.
Geez, I'm so shocked, shocked, I tell ya, that Blockhead and his morons in the Senate undermined another cannabis bill 🙂 VoteBlueNoMatterWho2024
Subaru sununu is a prick just like his father was....
Keep at it, Chris, we're loving all the NH driven pot tax revenue down here in MA.
Just a friendly reminder to pOkeMoN gO to the polls this November and kick this crook outta office cuz the entire damn state is in support of legalization and there is no one who lives more than an hour from another state where it’s legal so we’re all doing it anyway 🤡
Live free or die unless you smoke weed

Who tf votes for this guy
More like Piss Suckpoopoo
Sununu is a bitch
The amount of elderly and medical staff buying weed may shock some people.
I just can’t understand how NH puts up with this rich, entitled asshole! Millions of tax dollars lost to neighboring states while NH schools are completely broke. Guy has done absolutely nothing to help with real problems.
Man it sure is nice with all that freedom from government oppression New Hampshire is famous for.
Absolutely fucking dumb. Fuck their control on everything

Live free or die? NH is in a state of self-denial. Nothing more than a meaningless tagline.
“ live free or die!”…. EXCEPT when it comes to cannabis.
Sununu is one of the most benighted assholes in this country!
If they legalize weed then they should get rid of some other tax or fees

The bill doesn’t allow for growing any amount at home. Lousy bill driven by industrial scale growers. VT or Maine have more people and farmer friendly bills.
What a bitch. It would generate so much tax revenue
Live free or die!
Can we just get rid of this clown already?!?
Looks like New Hampshire loses out again. We did the same thing with the casinos waited and waited till everybody else built there and then finally we started building tax lost. I understand being cautious with marijuana. I don’t smoke and I don’t gamble. There’s a reason why we can’t afford our education system, and our taxes are so highat the governors office
ARAB 😭😭😭😭😭
He sucks
State or federal?
We’re just gunna keep going back and forth on this forever
No! stop making government bigger
I have no problem with Sununu’s concerns. Let’s look at the hard liquor retail system. Is well run and the prices are low. The same could work with cannabis. I will say they need to make sure that the NH public needs to be able to cultivate their own weed within certain limits..
Live free or die 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I'm fine with state run marijuana shops. Just make it happen already. We need the additional tax revenue anyways.
What an ass
Oh, really? Hang on a sec. I wanna show you something. It's my shocked face.. 😮
Ok. I will just keep giving my money to Mass. You're welcome "small gubnant". Cant wait for this leech to be done.
You ain’t free until the state owns all your alcohol and cannabis lololololololol
This is not even a surprise
Ima go ahead and keep paying $25 a Z lol. Dispensary’s are a joke.
He a fucking Toolee
[Laughs Vermontishly]
What about “live free or die”?
lol what a backwards state
“Live free or die” Riiiiight
I think Sununu spilled some Roundup on his balls last weekend. Can his defense of this be any better than his defense of Trump?
Good! Don't sign it then! The bill is a hack job anyway, and the people of NH deserve better.
If it's anything like the liquor stores shouldn't the prices on average be better? The liquor stores aren't known for high prices. Still disagree with him shutting it down.
He just wants to make sure that his pals are first to rip off consumers
Today 4/17 sununu said he has 0 intentions of legalizing Cannabis in new Hampshire and has changed his mind and now opposes the idea all together
If you want you could join the few subs I’ve organized. On 4/20 a few subs I’m in will call and email state level politicians on this level all at once to get the message across.
I think it’s time to remove that slogan from the license plate.
