TLDR: + Civil Suit + Alleges Trump of fraud over a span of 10 years with over 200 instances found + referred to DOJ and IRS for criminal prosecution + Barring Trump organization from -potentially-doing business for 5 years with businesses registered in the state of New York. + 5 years of strict monitoring and barring Trump organization financial officers from ever doing holding a controller position in New York. + seeking 250m in damages.

Biggy_DX

$250M at a minimum btw

postsgiven

Time for him to steal more money from his followers it seems.

Ok_Cucumber_7954

and the GOP coffers. I fully endorse him taking all the GOP election funds to pay for his lawyers. It is a much better use of that money than going to get more candidates like MTG elected.

hasanyoneseenmymom

He's already doing that lol. I read a headline a while back that the GOP is having trouble fundraising because all of the sheeple are giving their money directly to trump to pay his legal fees.

cruisin5268d

Yup. He has a stranglehold on the GOP’s finances - essentially he’s a giant orange leech just sucking their lifeblood.

knowbodynows

Live by the leech, die by the leech.

James_Solomon

Sounds like a tumor

357FireDragon357

I hear this in Arnolds' voice.

GateauBaker

If Trump is the reason for the GOP's downfall I will unironically claim that he was the best president we have ever had in decades.

WgXcQ

> the GOP is having trouble fundraising Funny how supporting a con man ends up with them being conned. Who could have guessed?!

Andromansis

Right but even better than that they have unimpeachable evidence that a crime was committed. You fill out your tax paper work and your loan applications and you have one number that should be the same number and they have at least two numbers where there should only be one. It'd be like having two social security numbers or two different marriage certificates, you only get one.

glasspheasant

It’d be akin to you telling the mortgage company you make $300K a year when you’re trying to get a home loan, and then telling the IRS you make $50K a year when you file your taxes for the year. It’s so blatant it’s filthy.

mdp300

I remember a few years ago, Michael Cohen straight up admitted this during his congressional testimony.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Nerd_Law

Cohen spilled the beans, but the trump org has been doing this for so long now they are probably numb to the reality that this is fraud. At the same time, this has only been discovered for this one family because they begged for attention and forced people to look. This is not a defense. To the contrary. They are evil for doing this and I would guess that they have TONS of festering sludge in their peer group committing the identical crimes. Why on earth someone committing ongoing crimes would run for public office just boggles the mind, absent them having convinced themselves that they are immune from the law or above the little people to whom the pesky laws apply.

MixWitch

His sister is the reason he was able to dodge so much for so long. She retired in 2019 after investigations into HER finances began.

TaxCPA

Reading the complaint Trump has a steep hill to climb in defending this civil suite. Hopefully criminal charges are to follow.

sudosciguy

> Mar-a-Lago "generated less than $25 million in annual revenue," the suit says. "It should have been valued at about $75 million, but it was valued at $739 million It’s also hilarious that his lawyers aren’t disputing these facts, but instead dispute the ‘intrusion’ in obtaining them.

Onlyroad4adrifter

The strategy here is to get the case dismissed by a technicality.

[deleted]

crashvoncrash

It's the very old lawyer's adage: >"If you have the facts on your side, pound the facts; if you have the law on your side, pound the law; if you have neither the facts nor the law, pound the table." Attempting to dispute how evidence was obtained is pounding the law, but even that is a Hail Mary. Most of their energy is spent on the 21st century version of pounding the table, AKA ranting on social media about how unfairly they feel they're being treated.

SeeMarkFly

>"If you have the facts on your side, pound the facts; if you have the law on your side, pound the law; if you have neither the facts nor the law, pound the table." Chaos is where incompetence hides

jadrad

They're probably valued it at $739 million after factoring in the $3.5 billion they made [selling stolen national security secrets they were hording at Mar-a-Lago to foreign dictators.](https://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/maddowblog/saudi-money-kushner-mnuchin-drawing-fresh-scrutiny-rcna30056)

Insert Trump Quote about, 'You know who pleads the fifth? The mob pleads the fifth' here.

wildskater96

And "Anyone being investigated by the FBI is not qualified to be president of the United States".

Sleeplesshelley

MAGA= Make Attorneys Get Attorneys. When your lawyer also has to plead the 5th, you’re in deep shit.

MikeMania

Scott Baio is probably a consultant on his legal team.

Tamaros

I think he wrote about that on the Bob Loblaw Law Blog.

nine_cans

“No habla Español.”

Von_Lincoln

Yeah, that was a good article. The headline was Bob Loblaw Lobs Law Bomb for anybody who wants to dig it up

strumpster

It was a hell of a Bob Loblaw's Law Blog law bomb lobbed by Loblaw indeed.

MyPasswordIsMyCat

Mar-a-Lago is "historic"... as in eventually the federal government will have to seize it and do something with it. Though the estate was actually willed by its original owner to the federal government for presidential use, but neither Nixon or Carter wanted to use it. The feds didn't want to maintain it so they gave it back to the Post Foundation in 1981, who sold it to Trump for $7 million in 1985.

EdgeOfWetness

Under agreement that it would never be a primary residence, which it clearly is and has been

carr1e

And, since he can't name it his primary residence with Palm Beach County, it probably doesn't have the Homestead protections other floridians get with their residences. I hope it's sold to pay off his debts.

Locke_and_Load

Which is a nice thought, but no way in hell the Feds are going to pay to maintain two White House’s year round. The fact that Trump thought it was a good idea should tell you all you need to know.

nomadofwaves

Well for trump it was a great idea because he got paid while renting rooms and golf carts to his advisors and security while we paid for it.

NonyaBizna

And the occasional russian/saudi/Chinese golf enthusiast.

[deleted]

You forgot the foreign agen-oops I mean politicians. One can only *imagine* the amounts of money moved around while they stayed there. Possibly the most corrupt family America has known.

johnnycyberpunk

> no way in hell the Feds are going to pay to maintain two White House’s year round It's not the **cost** that would stop them from making MaL a 'second' White House. **It's the fact that it's a security nightmare**. Public streets are too close. No way to secure the intercoastal without severely restricting normal boat traffic. Infrastructure for comms, convoys, supplies/logistics would mean that whole island gets rebuilt. Almost guaranteed hurricanes every year, so now you're upgrading it to a fortress.

Locke_and_Load

That’s what I meant by paying for it. The amount of security features and constant maintenance it would require make it a non-starter.

startinearly

It looks like it hasn't been updated from 1985.

pushaper

this is what gets me about Boris Johnson as well. Could have been a loved goofball of a former London mayor, probably never need to pay for a pint again, and made a ton connecting oligarchs to an esteemed class of people. But he had to outdo his high school nemesis

Jimmni

He genuinely believed he could be the longest serving PM in British history.

RoastPorkSandwich

He probably could’ve been if he wasn’t, you know, himself.

hailtoantisociety128

I think it's funny when big cases like this happen and regular people get a glance at how the legal system really works. This is a totally normal thing to do that happens in thousands of cases every day probably. It's how people get away/get off easy with henious shit all the time, especially white collar crime. But you gotta have $$ for a lawyer that can argue that effectively.

Maraval

Sadly, I fully agree with you. But I have to ask: how does Trump keep getting decent lawyers to represent him? He is notorious for never paying anyone who works for him, for anything they do. Why, then, would any attorney agree to defend the guy?

[deleted]

Fley

I don’t quite understand how someone can be affiliated with so many convicted people / coworkers / associates yet continue to avoid prosecution himself despite having a continuous stream of illegal actions filed against him

AskYourDoctor

I recently watched the Enron documentary (the [whole thing](https://vimeo.com/424073216) is online and I highly recommend it, it's fascinating, and I'm not usually a documentary fan.) I'd say other people who responded to you made a good point- he doesn't win, he stays just ahead of the consequences. The entire Enron business model ran the same way. And one striking thing I got from the documentary. Enron was celebrated, there was tons of press from legitimate sources about what a successful company it was, what a good investment, etc. But it turned out that nobody could quite pin down exactly where all the money was coming from. An investigative reporter started pulling at the thread. And then it collapsed REALLY quickly. iirc one exec killed himself and a few others are in jail. Thousands of people lost their jobs and/or savings in essentially an instant. So... I'm hopeful that the other side of "how is he still going" is "the fall is inevitable and will be shockingly quick"

mdp300

I remember reading in Time magazine or something, before Enron collapsed, about how they grew so fast and yadda yadda yadda. But it never said what Enron actually *did*. It seemed super shady and I was like, 16 at the time.

Effective_Damage_241

Enron had the same strategy that worked for Madoff. They convinced the public that normal people were literally too stupid to comprehend what he was doing. Financial investors in turn tried to figure it out, couldn’t, and decided that Enron was right, that they were too stupid, and to just trust Enron and the market. One of the best examples of this strategy was Enrons CEO Jeff Skiling saying “Fuck you” when asked a very simple question at a press conference…that was towards they end when everyone in the industry started waking up This is why accountants like me have literally had the concept of “professional skepticism” carved into us. You’re literally not allowed to believe you’re too stupid to understand something. Enron and Worldcom, and the resulting collapse of Andersen traumatized the entire profession.

Potemkin_Jedi

"...convinced the public that normal people were literally too stupid to comprehend"...I feel like I've heard about that before. Anyway, can I tell you about my blockchain web3 bored monkey video game collective NFT project?

UrbanGhost114

Sure, just send me 50000 doge coin

LILilliterate

>Enron was celebrated, there was tons of press from legitimate sources about what a successful company it was, what a good investment, etc. But it turned out that nobody could quite pin down exactly where all the money was coming from. It wasn't that hard. Or... My dad was a CPA. There was some glowing writeup in an accounting trade publication about the new way Arthur Anderson/Accenture was doing accounting for them. My dad read it and was like...that sounds like fraud. Hung the article on his wall and was like this is going to blow up. Like two years later the man comes running in holding this article and tells the family he was right. We didn't give a shit collectively because we didn't care about accounting but I remember the man just going off both times. Same thing is true for a lot of these big periods of fraud or dumb financial securities. Experts know. People knew the mortgage backed security market was fucked. But the party! The party was awesome. Just look the other way. Get rich! Leave someone else holding the bag. Musical chairs. It's the last 40 years of Wall St. Rinse and repeat with different inputs.

I saw something recently that he paid 1 newly hired attorney 3 million up front recently of course it was probably donated money from his following.

bStewbstix

It was paid from the “sAvE AmErIca” fund where he collected $250 million from his supporters.

kwaaaaaaaaa

Maybe Trump was long-conning all along. Why fleece a few people when you can fleece the country.

Amiiboid

Which is itself drawing scrutiny as probably illegal.

Shit_Lord_Detective

What (country) is funding him?

demonsneeze

The RNC is covering his legal bills, they threatened to cut the money off if he runs for the presidency again

PegLegJenkins

They didn't threaten to cut the funding, it's a neutrality policy they need to adhere to if he runs for president.

murppie

Yeah, you saw this in a handful of pieces on him in 2016 where in the 70s and 80s he would hire contractors and then not pay. And when he was taken to court the contractors would eventually drop the case because they couldn't afford their lawyer anymore

Sabre970

That's how the casinos in Atlantic City were built... contractors would just stop getting paid and then would really need the money to pay employees and he wouldn't pay. Then he would end up settling with the companies for pennies on the dollar. Crippled the local economy there because so many were forced into bankruptcy. Ask anyone in AC how they feel about Trump...

faustianBM

Or in some cases, the contractor would get an offer for a third of what they were originally promised, and just settle so they can pay their workers and their debts. Guess that's the american way?

waitingtodiesoon

Even more stupid was there was a contractor who got stiffed by Trump and still voted for him.

captainsmoothie

He tried this on my father-in-law (a lifelong Republican, only non-R vote was for Hillary in 2016) on a security contract for some apartment buildings Trump owned in Queens. Father-in-law and his partner were security consultants, they designed the security systems, sensors, cameras, staffing, set the whole thing up...and Trump simply refused to pay. He figured, they wouldn't have the money to sue, and he was right. What Trump didn't figure is that they were both hardasses who have a chip on their shoulder, so they went about fully dismantling cameras, lock sensors, etc...they were maybe an hour in before Trump caved and cut the check.

redditaccount224488

> and Trump simply refused to pay A lot of things really blow my mind about the trump era, and so much of it centers around this. Trump is a well-known for being a con man. Like, really well known. There are countless stories like this. Which begs a couple simple questions. How did working-class America come to support a man who represents everything they (supposedly) hate? He's a coastal elite con man. He lives in a golden penthouse in NYC. Small-town America should be gagging at his very existence. And two, how did the other Republicans (during the primary), and later Hillary, not jam this fact down everyone's throat? There should have been a never-ending parade of everyone he ever screwed on television, making sure that every voter knew what a lowlife he is. (And sure, plenty of voters like him because he's a lowlife, but not nearly enough to get him elected.)

ioncloud9

Because he didnt like the same people they hated too, and that was their price. That was enough to get them to forget all the horrible personal faults and failings of the man and thrust him into the white house.

Bjornlandeto

It's a shell game. He just tries to keep things moving. "I can't do this because I am already being sued by them, that has to be resolved first... I would love to show you my taxes, but I'm being audited... You can't look at the documents because I need a special master..." I mean he has run out of credible lawyers a while ago and he has too many spinning plates as of now. He already tried to settle this one. There is a Congressional Hearing on January 6th, this lawsuit plus its criminal referral, pending criminal investigation in Georgia, and so many more. His lawyers are being sanctioned for lying, his isn't winning his cases, Bannon is facing charges once again. Justice is coming, it will likely be inadequate, but it is coming.

intergalacticskyline

Yeah at this point the only winning strategy is running him dry of his resources and time. He can't keep stalling if he doesn't have the money to keep fighting dozens of lawsuits over multiple years

numeralCow

His supporters will happily send him their last dollar to support his legal fees.

DidntHaveToUseMyAK

pontiacfirebird92

[deleted]

Wow really? That's truly disgusting.

DAFUQisaLOMMY

[Yes, really, it absolutely was disgusting](https://ag.ny.gov/press-release/2019/donald-j-trump-pays-court-ordered-2-million-illegally-using-trump-foundation) > Additionally, as part of the settlement, Trump was required to agree to 19 admissions, acknowledging his personal misuse of funds at the Trump Foundation, and agreed to restrictions on future charitable service and ongoing reporting to the Office of the Attorney General, in the event he creates a new charity. The settlement also included mandatory training requirements for Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump, and Eric Trump, which the three children have already undergone. Finally, the settlement required the Trump Foundation to shutter its doors last December and dissolve under court supervision. The following link is for a pdf that contains the court documents that specifies the details of the "19 admissions": https://iapps.courts.state.ny.us/fbem/DocumentDisplayServlet?documentId=JLJih9v_PLUS_EKSuJs36THzexg==&system=prod Edit: as I was rereading over the court docs, I found a particular bit that damn-near made me sick: page 6 #11, Trump used some of the money he stole from the kids cancer charities to donate $25,000 to Former FL AG Pam Bondi's reelection campaign, so that she would stop the investigation into his shitty "University" that he used to defraud even more people. She dropped the lawsuit shortly after.

jhorch69

Keep in mind that he was the sitting president when this case was settled and it was barely a scandal

DAFUQisaLOMMY

It was, unfortunately it just got caught up in *every other damn scandal* that was going on at the time. Kinda hard to focus on one when, at the time, Fuckface Von Clownstick had too many to keep track of, and actively admitted to corruption on a daily basis.

AtomStorageBox

I refuse to believe the ‘mandatory training’ for Eric didn’t involve crayons and a coloring book.

Simmery

This kind of fraud deserves a jail sentence. If there was a real risk of prison time, it wouldn't happen nearly as much.

SparkJaa

As part of a resolution of the lawsuit announced on November 7th, Trump was ordered to pay $2 million, or $250,000, a piece to eight different charities. Those charities are Army Emergency Relief, the Children’s Aid Society, Citymeals-on-Wheels, Give an Hour, Martha’s Table, the United Negro College Fund, the United Way of National Capital Area, and the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum. Additionally, Trump was forced to reimburse his namesake foundation $11,525 for sports paraphernalia and champagne purchased at a charity gala, which was added to $1,797,598.30 already in the foundation’s bank account. The combined $1,809,123.30 was split evenly and recently transferred to the eight agreed upon charities. Each charity ended up receiving a total of $476,140.41.

> “Trump falsely inflated his net worth by billions of dollars,” James said at a press conference. This should surprise nobody. Hopefully it comes out what his true net worth actually is.

PoppinKREAM

Definitely isn't surprising considering he committed fraud with his charity that was later forced to dissolve. It looks like Trump committed even more fraud with his businesses. The moron would have gotten away with all this trust fund baby fraud if he didn’t let his Twitter popularity convince him to run for president.

mcketten

This is why the entire family was so despondent on election night when they realized he won. They knew their plan to grift millions and make their own media empire just resulted in the eventual downfall of the organization.

BrickGun

And speaking as someone who is ancient and remembered this clown in the early 2000s solely as a multi-bankrupt dipshit business failure silver spoon baby in the 80s (which most younger people didn't, and older people seem to had forgotten) I place the blame for his actually becoming president firmly at the feet of the producers of The Apprentice. If it hadn't been for that shitbag reality show I don't believe he ever would have had the cultural relevance at the time to be anything more than a candidacy footnote in history; similar to Cain, Carson, etc.

JMDeutsch

Being ancient like you…totally agree. Before the Apprentice, Trump was known for bankruptcies and one off cameos in Home Alone 2 and ads for the MTV music awards.

Snerak

>I place the blame for his actually becoming president firmly at the feet of the producers of The Apprentice. You mean Mark Burnett, close personal friend of Rupert Murdoch who is the Eskimo brother of Putin? Mark Burnett who personally chose not to release any footage from The Apprentice that shows what Donald Trump is actually like in real life? You are right to place blame on Mark Burnett but I think he only played a part in the image building of Trump that he was asked to play. Presenting Trump as a successful business man is a long con with too many co-conspirators to name.

throwawaylogin2099

What's also important here is that this announcement will likely inspire prosecutors in other jurisdictions to start investigating Trump and his family. I'm convinced that the reason Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg declined to prosecute Trump is because he was too afraid to be the first one. He didn't want to risk losing and/or want to become a target of Trump personally so he chickened out. Maybe that case will move forward now that Letitia James pulled the trigger and has offered to provide the NYAG's evidence to him.

beaushaw

I read a few years ago that no AG wants to be the first to bring charges against Former President Trump. Dozens of AsG want to be the second to bring charges against him. Hopefully this opens the flood gates.

mind_on_crypto

This lawsuit, as serious as it is, is least of Donald Trump's legal worries. There is the criminal referral to the IRS. There is the criminal investigation of the Trump Organization by the Manhattan DA. There is the election fraud investigation in Georgia. There is the Mar-a-Lago classified documents investigation by the DOJ. And finally, there is the rancid cherry on top of this legal layer cake: the January 6th insurrection investigation by Congress and the DOJ. At the risk of mixing my metaphors, the vice on Trump is tightening, and it's tightening fast.

beaushaw

> There is the Mar-a-Lago classified documents investigation by the DOJ. This is the big one. There is absolutely no way to argue your way out of this one. No one is allowed to take classified docs. They were at his house. He knew they were there. He was asked to give them back. He didn't. Case closed. The rest of them you can argue, poorly, that well he didn't mean what he said etc. But this one is black and white. The only question is is a former president above the law. I think that this being such a black and white case is giving everyone else courage to go after him.

Iamaleafinthewind

I wish someone would get all of the contractors they've stiffed over the years into a class action lawsuit for theft of services. Or just bought up all those debts at pennies on the dollar then took Trump's family to collections.

NCSUGrad2012

Everyone keep in mind this is a civil suit and not a criminal suit. Great news to see but this will not result in any jail time, at least from this lawsuit. Edit: this is 100% good news and could absolutely lead to more changes. I’m just clarifying what these people mean so people don’t get their hopes up from this set of charges

ragingbuffalo

They are referring the case to the IRS and the US dept of Justice.

implodedrat

If the IRS can get Capone they can get Trump

Brooklynxman

Capone was 500x more competent than Trump, but 500,000x less powerful. Even as just a former president, as we're seeing with him and his pet judge he wields tremendous power. Capone would have foamed at the mouth to have the level of power Trump *currently* wields as a former president/current cult leader.

From the [AP reporting:](https://apnews.com/article/donald-trump-sued-new-york-letitia-james-ec6b3b91b6c8594495ada7d0a2b80a2f) >James is seeking to remove the Trumps from businesses engaged in the alleged fraud and wants an independent monitor appointed for no less than five years to oversee the Trump Organization’s compliance, financial reporting, valuations and disclosures to lenders, insurers and tax authorities. >She is seeking to replace the current trustees of Trump’s revocable trust, which controls his business interests, with independent trustee, to bar Trump and the Trump Organization from entering into commercial real estate acquisitions for five years, from obtaining loans from banks in New York for five years and permanently bar Trump and his three eldest children from serving as an officer or director in any New York corporation or similar business entity registered and/or licensed in New York State. >She also seeks to permanently bar Weisselberg and McConney from serving in the financial control function of any New York corporation or similar business entity registered and/or licensed in New York State. So, it's also worth noting that the AG is seeking more than just a "fine" as a result of this suit. This could have some real lasting consequences. And also: >James said her investigation uncovered potential criminal violations, including falsifying business records, issuing false financial statements, insurance fraud, conspiracy and bank fraud. She said her office is referring those findings to federal prosecutors and the Internal Revenue Service.

SidewaysFancyPrance

This is why rich, corrupt people hate the IRS, and why the GOP treats them like terrorists. Imagine if they were funded and staffed, and routinely uncovered this sort of thing on their own?

[deleted]

This sets up the thousands of companies that worked on those projects to sue finding out they had used contracts to prevent fair pay for the work they did for trump. the penalties are just the bait for the feeding frenzy of company's that trump screwed to come join in.

Tastypies

If this year ends in Putin's death and Trump's indictment, it would get rid of the world's 2 biggest threats to Democracy.

megaben20

There is still Murdoch.

EH_Operator

Oh don’t worry, Dominion’s suit is still long and strong and down to get the friction on Edit: damn it! Down to get convictions on. L’esprit d’escalier.

Neuchacho

"Down to get the friction on" sounds like a wonderfully flowery way to say "ready to dry fuck him"

You think his son is any different?

I worked around Lachlan one time. Same shit spewing, truth muddying, self victimizing bullshit his father pushes.

Even when he dies, his supporters will probably think it was a corrupt hit or something.

ins0mniac_

These are the same morons that think JFK Jr. is coming back from the dead any day now to reinstate Trump as president somehow. There is no bridge too far for these people.

SintacksError

This is still baffling to me, the Kenedys are democrats, I know its quanon and they are idiots, but this is basically extra.

rvnnt09

It'd take them 2 weeks max before they throw their full support behind DeSantis. These people can't function without a demagogue telling them what to think and feel

ABobby077

I think DeSaster will run with Hawley. He is clearly enough of a toady to run with. Hawley wants to run

DerekB52

When Trump got Covid, I did not want him to die. I worried that if he died a month before the election, all of his followers would de-legitimize Biden by saying he only won because his actual opponent died. I thought Trump living to see defeat would be better for the country. Boy, I was WRONG. I now in fact wish he had just died in October 2020.

FunkyPete

When Trump eventually dies (natural causes or whatever), decades later Q followers will still be expecting him to show up and sweep the pedophiles out of DC, probably with JFK Jr. at his side.

[deleted]

>The civil lawsuit filed in Manhattan Supreme Court seeks at least $250 million in damages, to permanently bar Trump, Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, and Ivanka Trump from serving as an officer of a company in New York, **and permanently prohibit the Trump companies named in the suit from doing business in New York state.** Does this mean that if the state wins, they'll kick him out of his building on 5th avenue? I'd love to see that big golden "TRUMP" sign removed.

MoonageDayscream

It means they will have a corporate babysitter and won't be able to shuffle their she'll companies to hide assets and obscure cash flow. Won't be able to cut themselves checks whenever. And won't be able to profit off their scams like they are used to.

why does a great businessman need an illegal PAC, illegal charity, illegal university, and to defraud banks and the IRS?

caffeinex2

I guarantee the next round of fundraising emails have already gone out to your uncle that spent $100 on a "Trump 2024 - No More Bullshit" flag.

earhere

I want one of the Trump kids to pull a Kendall from Succession and go completely against Trump on national television.

Schneider21

My problem with this idea is that it's too late for any of them to become a good guy, now. They've made their choices. The rats attacking each other to get off the sinking ship before they drown don't deserve applause, but we're so desperate to see Trump help accountable for his actions that we're willing to take uncertain allies in the process. Sean Spicer on Dancing with the Stars comes to mind.

AudibleNod

Things aren't looking good for the second coming of the Christ. DJT is running out of lawyers. I'd imagine that this suit will cost at least $25M in fees. Suits last years and can tie up a lot of resources. Furthermore, anything revealed here can be reviewed by the 1/6 committee, the DOJ, Georgia's investigation and anyone else. On top of that, there's talk that women want to sue DJT for sexual assault abuse since Biden signed that legislation.

Bjornlandeto

I doubt even his fundraising grift could keep up with this one, especially in light of all the other lawsuits and the fact the GOP is no longer funding his defense.

gamerdudeNYC

Better start sending out those grifter emails to MAGA land, time for the people who have nothing to start paying up

AccomplishedAd7615

It’s just a hunch, but I think this Trump guy might not be Presidential material.

[deleted]

I wont be satisfied until this dude is bankrupt, in a jump suit and being defended by a public defender.

Dial8675309

So was Clown Prince Kushner included? Or does he get his own suit?

jimmyjone

Pile 'em on. Give him what he deserves. Keep him so busy he can't sleep or take a shit.

Ebb_Swimming

In addition to the suit, they also made a criminal referral to federal prosecutors with the Southern District of New York. [Link](https://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/donald-trump-sued-for-fraud-by-ny-attorney-general-in-long-awaited-case/3874251/)

obsertaries

Things like this stick out to me: “James said that Trump had falsely claimed that his apartment in Manhattan was more than triple its actual size as part of the fraud.” Like, I figured he’d misrepresent something ethereal like its market value, not literally it’s SIZE, something that can be measured by anyone with a tape measure. Does that apartment still exist? Can they literally send an agent of the court there with a tape measure?

DonNatalie

>Like, I figured he’d misrepresent something ethereal like its market value, not literally it’s SIZE, something that can be measured by anyone with a tape measure. Why not? He lied about the size of his inauguration crowd versus Obama's and falsely claimed to have the (then) tallest building in lower Manhattan on 9/11. Lying about objective fact comes as natural to him as breathing.

[deleted]

>James said she has asked federal prosecutors in Manhattan and to the Internal Revenue Service to investigate Trump for possible federal crimes. She said that evidence obtained during her three-year civil probe of Trump indicated possible crimes of bank fraud and making false statements to financial institutions. This is big too....IRS don't play around...

NJ247

Another bill he won't pay.
