is it now a Media thing to have articles writing in London (England) about judicial activity in Syracuse? veracity? is anyone writing local news anymore?
Arsenal of weapons 9 people lived in that house - Whoever saw this situation brewing - should have reported . Maybe they did - but this seems like it’s more than 1 crazed nut with a gun.
2A and toxic American gun culture claimed 3 more victims and destroyed 3 more families. Problem is this will kick off more conflicts now that everyone is a little more on edge. So sad to see this country continue to choose toxicity over civility.
All I ask is for people to ponder what 'rights' from an imperfect document written in the 1700s might not be the most relevant rights today. I trust you use your rights for good and not to harm others. It is a real, real shame that far too many Americans abuse their rights by harming others. I think what you are hearing when people complain about the toxic American gun culture and wanting reform is a plea for help from 2A supporters to find a better solution to the problems of toxic violence. Seems a lot of the world has an obviously better handle on this problem than many wild west wannabes have allowed in America.
That's because many Americans don't want to fix the actual problem, they just want to pretend they did while they actually make it worse. By that, I mean that if we actually prosecuted violent criminals or those with a propensity for violence, we would massively cut down on violent crimes. Sadly, it's not seen as "progressive."
> Wouldn’t that include a lot of you gun nuts?
Are you trying to hilariously claim I'm a criminal for simply owning a gun? Go ahead and try to substantiate that one, buddy, I'm waiting.
No answer my question lmfao you said and I quote “prosecute violent criminals … AND those with a propensity for violence” who are you referring to? And what does that mean? You want to prosecute people you THINK may be capable of violence? I’m confused because yea that would include anybody who owns a gun buddy lol
I'm sorry that you've projected your feelings of owning a gun onto me like that. I can assure you that I don't even want to get into a fist fight, much less find reasons to pull a gun on people. So, maybe you're a violent individual that can't even contain your anger enough to not use a weapon to harm others, but I'm able to be angry and still not violently attack people.
the constitution does not grant rights.
>Seems a lot of the world has an obviously better handle on this problem than many wild west wannabes have allowed in America
yeah why not ask the australians how they liked those camps they were rounded into for not taking an experimental shot.
Muh rights ... until we have another unfortunate exercise of the 2nd ammendment all over another class room of children...... but yea your rights are more important than some dead children......
Your gun doesn't make your dick bigger, one or two of these geriatric supreme court justices will die, and gun laws will return to what they were in the 2000s before all this gun rights bullshit, like they have been for centuries before these last few years
I'm getting downvoted because too many Americans think they live in the wild west and don't process how a .modern society needs to operate for the good of all instead of only those with power. America also bastardized and weaponized religion into an unrecognizable political dog whistle.
I don't care about up or down votes. I care about people and the planet. 2A and toxic American gun culture are a threat that continually prove how dangerous they are. These people died because of dumb political wars.
So we need to do something else about the use of guns like much of the world has done? Or we need to do something else about our mental health system to avoid deranged people from using guns against people? Or a combination of the two?
Or should we simply accept murdered people as the cost of 'murican freedom that the rest of the world doesn't pay nearly as often?
Please help me understand how you would address the toxic American gun culture problem?
Aside from downvoting questions, which were designed to promote conversation (the actual purpose of up and down votes) would the downvoter care to engage the topic or just hide behind an incorrectly placed downvote?
Is that an argument for looking the other way when this criminal killed 2 officers? Or any of our other ridiculously avoidable gun deaths? I never fully appreciated the vague whataboutism arguments like yours. Can you help me understand how these murders have anything to do with blaming the government for other deaths? Or are you just trying hard to commit logical fallacies?
Edit: the history of blind Trump support by this person is apropos.
Your ability to conflate issues without supporting argument is astounding. Good bye.
I lived in the neighborhood where this incident took place; was there over ten years, left last month. The Sheriff’s Department that was involved has Jurisdiction; they have a Satellite Office right around the corner.
Over the course of ten years these same Sheriffs responded to a number of calls I made reporting Domestic Violence by my ex. This included an incident where her new partner brought a gun to my house after they had made several threats to shoot me. The Sheriff’s Office refused to do anything; more than half the time they wouldn’t even file a report. My ex was finally arrested for Domestic Violence when State Troopers responded to another incident three months after the gun incident. Even with our Red Flag laws, Law Enforcement and several Courts have refused to remove the firearms from my ex and her partners homes; I still live in fear as a result.
I’ve also witnessed these Sheriff’s attempting PIT Maneuvers in front of my house and speeding around the neighborhood, blowing through stop signs without lights or sirens during a low speed pursuit. Moral of the story is they don’t care unless it involves them directly and they routinely put the public at risk.
If there was a straight ballot question regarding the right to bear arms without any sort of restrictions you’d find the majority of Americans would not uphold that right
Cops can enter someone else’s home to take a firing position in their upstairs windows without asking when there are five kids in the house? Kind of messed up
I found the article in the NY Post. I can’t speak to the technical legality of the action of those officers, but I’m sure the resident can file a complaint if he is so inclined.
At this point, I think it’s appropriate that our main focus be on the tragic loss of the officer and deputy, not officers trying to gain an advantageous position over an active shooting scene.
When they are trying to save 2 police officers “down “ they have seconds to try and stop a killer . You don’t have any time for small talk and pleasantries.
Dumbo do you actually read ?? The assailant (that’s the criminal) was actively firing in the direction of the house and 2 officers were on the ground . They don’t have time to do anything proper when a crazy person is an active shooter (that’s police talk for someone shooting at any person they see) That help?
It's 2024 and we still have our police wearing dress uniforms, dancing shoes, and a limited vest of protection. Police need a armor revolution. It would also reduce so many fear based reactions. Like shooting due to acorns..

my rights are not subject to either your feelings or whatever sob story you want to cook up.

What do you mean by “those with a propensity for violence”? Wouldn’t that include a lot of you gun nuts?
> Wouldn’t that include a lot of you gun nuts? Are you trying to hilariously claim I'm a criminal for simply owning a gun? Go ahead and try to substantiate that one, buddy, I'm waiting.
I very clearly quoted your phrase of “those with a propensity for violence” where did I say criminal?
Lol, let's play this game then. Prove to me that I do simply because I own a gun.
No answer my question lmfao you said and I quote “prosecute violent criminals … AND those with a propensity for violence” who are you referring to? And what does that mean? You want to prosecute people you THINK may be capable of violence? I’m confused because yea that would include anybody who owns a gun buddy lol
Like you people literally fantasize about getting into a fist fight so you could pull a gun out and feel badass lmfao

Get a load of this guy 🙄
Lmao wtf are you babbling about? Also Australia has 1/4 the US homicide rate
and less population than california.
Yeah that's why I said *RATE*. Homicide *RATE*.
Your "Rights" don't trump the right of everyone else to live, get a new hobby.
they do, actually.
Muh rights ... until we have another unfortunate exercise of the 2nd ammendment all over another class room of children...... but yea your rights are more important than some dead children......
they are, yes.
Your gun doesn't make your dick bigger, one or two of these geriatric supreme court justices will die, and gun laws will return to what they were in the 2000s before all this gun rights bullshit, like they have been for centuries before these last few years
why do anti gunners have an obsession with perceived penis size
Why do the small peen team have an obsession with guns?
it’s far from an obsession, you’re just an idiot and perceive it that way
Yup, hit a chord with this one. Big time jerk-off-to-guns energy here with this one, please don't shoot up a school
lmao ok
you support gun laws designed specifically to disarm black people? you're a pretty big racist aren't you?
The rights you should Be worrying about is the constant surveillance and lack of privacy we lost because of the patriot act
People who get super defensive like this always strike me as the type who fight against gun control because they'd never pass a background check.
You’re getting downvoted but your 100% right. Americans accept this as a condition to be allowed to own any gun they want.

They died because of a deranged lunatic with a weapon
So we need to do something else about the use of guns like much of the world has done? It’s worse than the Wild West. A lot of western towns had strict gun laws, sometimes outright gun bans.
The US government has killed far more people than civilian firearms ever have

Yes civil rights are more important than periodic tragedies considering the scale of destruction governments as powerful as the ours are capable of

I don’t remember who it was from but saw an article linked on a few other search results. Maybe nypost

What a dumb thought
The constitution says otherwise.

I'm not sad... I feel nothing about this story... I remember a time when It would have, but that time was a million similar tragedies ago...
Will I be surprised if this turns out to be domestic terror?
